╚════════════════════════╝ Isobel watched as everyone passed her, paying no mind to the seemingly normal girl in the black hoodie. No, rather, they were drawn in by the stupid girl and her light-hands, as if showing off being abnormal was something that intrigued them. Izzie narrowed her eyes as they all babbled uncertainly at each other, as if they'd never seen other people before. Then, one of them outright said that it was obvious that none of them had, and Izzie almost burst out laughing. That was certainly true! Had these weirdos never tried to blend with civilization? It seemed to her as if they'd all just... buried themselves away, for one reason or another.
It soon became obvious that pretty much everyone there was not normal, like she had been striving to be since she'd blasting her way out of her bomb shelter home. One guy had shadows that clung to him, and when he stepped into the light, the shadows seemed to thicken and gather just outside the light's reach. The light girl seemed to adopt his shadowy-ness, and yet another girl came up with some plants, mixing them into some sort of nasty-looking paste and looking at the light girl like she was absolutely certain that these herbs would heal her. And Izzie had no doubt in her mind that they would. Another guy just seemed to pop into existence and kept moving around like that, just appearing and disappearing. The light and shadows girl seemed completely bewildered as she started teleporting too, and Izzie found herself liking this group less and less.
They just show up, parading their powers about as if it was completely safe to do that next to some strange light? Prickles ran over her skin as she remembered burning down her childhood home, her mother's death at the hands of the men who'd been searching for Izzie's power, and just how dangerous it was to openly use her power where others- especially strangers -could see them. One guy, with glasses, still seemed completely ordinary; he was just watching, as she was, not showing off any particular power. Izzie was almost certain that he did have one, since everyone else seemed to- including herself -but he was probably much smarter than the people around the light, so he wasn't showing off. Or he's not smart, but too scared to, she thought, and it made her shiver. Was she too scared to? No. Fire is fearless, and thrives in dangerous situations.
Izzie took off her black sweatshirt- it would lessen the impact of her flames -and stepped forward out of the shadows, her red hair falling over her shoulders. Under the sweatshirt, she had been wearing a simple dark red tank top and shorts, perfect to add her powers to the mix. It took no time at all to channel her angry energy into flames. Flames that danced in her hair, flames that engulfed her skin, giving her a light of her own. Her brown eyes glinted fiercely as she uncrossed her arms, letting the fire grow, and stepped toward the babbling group. Her anger boiled in her blood with the heat of the flames, and she felt all her previous qualms melting away as she approached them.
"Would you all just shut up?!" she exclaimed, glaring at them all. "I don't know about all of you recluses, but I've seen people and danger- I am danger -and I know that showing off our powers like this is not good. I've been around people all my life, and trust me..." she extinguished herself, letting the flames drop to the ground and sizzle out of existence on the pavement. "A freak show this big is bound to gather unwanted attention, especially when we're all gathered around the most obvious place in this entire city. There's a reason that this thing is drawing us in and not normal people without powers. So will everyone calm down so that we can just figure out what this thing is?" Izzie hoped she'd drawn their attention, getting close to all of them with her fire- it was certainly big enough and hot enough -so that they'd all finally stop screwing around.

└xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ┘ caitlyn glared at the girl who had just yelled at all of them. they were attracting attention? yeah, yelling did nothing to attract people to where they were. caitlyn walked over to the girl and crossed her arms, opening her mouth to speak. we are being quiet, and trying to figure out why we're here and what is wrong with us. yelling is not going to help us and this, caitlyn pointed to the fire, isn't either. fire will hurt us and attract more attention. and i suggest that you be quiet before someone hears you. cait said quietly enough, but not whispering either. now put the fire away. we're trying to figure it out. maybe, just maybe, you could stop showing off and screwing off as well? stop trying to be the leader of the group. and yeah, you drew attention . good job, SpitFire. she didn't like what she had said, but that girl was just plain annoying and wasn't helping at all. cait shook her head, not glancing back over. it happened rarely that cait said those things, but when she did, she meant it. caitlyn went back over to the girl, and realized the blood was oozing faster. quick, eat one. we have to stop it. cait hurried the girl on the ground, a worried look on her face. caitlyn lifted the paste up to about eye level, showing it to the red head. for your own good.

※Sandy ※ "ShadowMan"※
I’m increasingly aware I’ve been painting things in gray,
I’m increasingly alarmed by the pain,
I’m increasingly alive to every cloud up in the sky,
I’m increasingly afraid it’s going to rain. There were so many people here now. Sandy was impressed by the crowd that had gathered, not so much because they'd come - if Sandy had been drawn by the light why wouldn't others - but that there were so many of them. He'd gone his whole life without seeing another human soul and now suddenly there was enough of them to be called a crowd. He might have been angry at them all for hiding themselves away had he not been just completely amazed and confused. A girl with red hair answered him first, and when he turned his attention towards her he noticed that she too had a darkness slithering up her body. So other people are like me. He'd never expected that to be the case. Out of all the books he'd read, he'd never come across even a fictional character that had been able to do what he could. The Skinless Man did not have the same affinity for the girl as it did Sandy, however. In fact, it seemed to draw back just a little.
Other voices started piping up, seeming to come from all around him. It was strange and made his stomach turn; the only voices he had ever heard were his own and the shadowy whispers. It was also exciting, dare he say. Another boy arrived, although he couldn't say that he saw him approach. Had he been there even before Sandy got there? He remained observant, eyes flitting to the Skinless Man every few seconds to see if it was still there. One boy with blue hair moved through the space in discontinuous jumps. Something about that made Sandy want to stare at him; he liked it. It wasn't anything he'd seen before, or even read about if he recalled. It was very interesting.
Suddenly the girl that had previously been finding comfort in darkness was making time skips as well. This confused Sandy. Could he do that, too? Surely he would know by now if he could. The hazard shining down from the center of the dome was all but forgotten at this point, as the ShadowMan was awed by all of the other humans here.
He swiftly pivoted when someone in the group started yelling. She was on fire. How did that not hurt her? Why was she not burning? He didn't like the warmth from this flame; it felt threatening. Before he could think, darkness whipped up from the ground and jumped into his upturned palm, forming itself into a smooth orb. The black swirled until the orb seemed to gain a shine, and then it settled, lightening to a dark purple colour.
"Who are you to be insulting us and demanding that we calm down?" Out loud, his voice was rough as if he had rarely spoken at a volume greater than a whisper. Even now, his words were pointed, but he wasn't even close to yelling. The sphere hovered above his hand calmly as he spoke. "I've lived alone in this city alone my whole life, and now I find out other humans are alive and breathing? I'll react however the hell I want, I think I deserve that much after what I've had to put up with in this godforsaken purgatory."

All of them were distracted by the beacon when they first came into the area, but quickly gathered themselves around one girl who seemed to be going insane, and her hand was covered with blood. Chewing her bottom lip, she bolted a small distance away from them. For all she knew, this could be in her head. Her dreams and nightmares may have chased her long enough that they finally caught up and were creating realistic images. What disturbed her most is that they all seemed to have powers, just like her. One boy seemed to have a shadowy veil over himself, the girl with the bleeding hand did the same; as if she was copying him, another boy scared her by teleporting, the timid looking female was very skilled in taking care of the mimicking girl's hand- healing, perhaps?-, and another girl, who seemed to have a temper, had fire dancing on her skin, and she didn't seem in pain. How was that possible? Her clothes weren't burning either. It was clear she controlled fire, but it would make sense that anything that touched her or her fire would burn. From a distance, she watched them talk amongst each other, occasionally yelling. What caught Kingston's attention was when the fire girl said she had been around humans all her life. But, the rest of the group barely seemed to know how to act around each other. She was going to have a lot of questions about little miss fire. Eventually, she got the courage to get a little closer, though she was still convinced they were in her head and she was unsure if she should get close or not. Kingston opened her mouth to speak, but she couldn't even make a noise. Where to start? A few questions already were asked, but she was sure there are plenty more that everyone was dying to bring into the conversation.

Frank grew even more afraid. Getting used to people was bad enough, but now they were freely using their powers. Someone was hurt and that made things even worse. He hoped she was okay and he would have asked, if he weren't so afraid of people, and he weren't so repelled by blood. The girl who was helping her seemed nice enough. She was friendly and helpful, which gave him an idea who he could really trust. He wasn't sure about the others, though. The boy who kept on appearing and disappearing scared him. Who was he that he could jump simultaneously from one place to another? A teleporter, perhaps. Yes, it seemed so. He never thought he'd meet one. He had read a comic book about a boy with blue skin who could do the same. Thankfully, this one wasn't blue. If he was, Frank would be even more afraid.
Some people spoke, trying to answer questions. No one was successful, at least, he didn't think so. Everyone was the same - lost, confused. One girl then shouted. She yelled at all of them and even though the loudness hurt his ears, Frank decided to listen. She made sense. Her words held reason and he agreed with the fact that they were bringing too much attention to themselves. In his opinion, he was bringing too much attention just by being there. Hesitantly, he took a few steps back. The girl was on fire. Flames scorched at her whole body but she did not burn. It would harm him if he touched it, that he knew for certain. He took another step back. Why did everyone have to yell? It hurt his ears, and he flinched every time the noise level rose above what he was comfortable with.
He watched the rest of the people around, unspeaking and observing like him. There was another who didn't speak, a girl who moved so fast he couldn't watch her very closely. Super-speed? Was that her power? He was certain that he looked the most normal, without fire or shadows on his body, without teleporting and running around at light-speed, without healing others. But he also knew that the others suspected him. All of them had something special, so why would he be different? All he knew was that if they didn't ask, he wouldn't tell. And even if they did, he may not tell either. He would reveal his little secret once he trusted the other person, no sooner, and that was what he decided.

ANDY LEE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━power night vision | tagged people at the beacon | location beacon
Andy approached the beacon carefully, eyes flickering from each person to the next, taking them in. They were a motley assort-- one, a boy with glasses, another, a girl with flaming red hair, a boy veiled by shadows, and so many more. All were illuminated by the ghostly blue flare of the beacon, which was another puzzle. Andy had been going about his usual routine; wandering the city [but never straying too far from his house], soaking up the sun, hands pushed in his pockets, humming some aimless tune under his breath-- when he had spotted the beacon, a blindingly blue light shooting up into the sky.
Wary but curious, and calculating quickly just about how far the light was [he was quite intelligent, really, despite his obvious lack of education], he had jogged back to his house to pull on a jacket, and left. Now here he was.. and Andy wasn't sure what to think. For the first time, he was seeing other human beings, ones he had never known existed. For a while now he had had an inkling that there must be someone else here too, but he hadn't really delved further into the thought.
Andy moved closer silently, shoes touching the concrete with little sound. From what he had seen so far, he'd gathered that, somehow, they all had powers too. It was a shocking idea, but not entirely odd if he thought about his own predicament. The boy with thick glasses near him looked the most normal, with no obvious signs of abilities showing. Andy, himself, was the same-- with night vision, there was hardly anything he could really do that was obvious.

the teleporter location ;; the beacon tagged ;; everyone at the beacon
Okay so her power isn't just shadow control. It's teleporting too? What exactly else can she do. Hopefully she can't read my mind because that would be devastating for her to hear me rambling on about what she is; talking about her like she's an 'it' when she's a human like me.. Erasmus drifted off his thoughts as he watched the girl with blonde hair mess with some herbs or spices or whatever they were called and attempted to heal the red-haired girl's wounds.
Erasmus watched, momentarily in awe, as a girl with red-orange hair stepped out of some more shadows (what's up with all the creepy-shadow people?) and quickly became engulfed in flames. For a moment, Erasmus was transfixed in the glowing brightness and warmth. But the warmth quickly turned into a more dangerous heat and Erasmus realized just how angry this person was. He frowned, teleporting a few feet away from her, leaning against a building with a rather unamused look on his face. First of all she doesn't have any right to tell me what to do, considering she has no idea who I am. Secondly, I'm not a freak. And the only freak I see here is her, considering she's the one who's actually freaking out - she's the one who needs to calm down, dang girl. He rolled his eyes, glancing over at Blondie as she piped up, he nodded his head approvingly but he didn't break into a grin until the Cloaked-Guy spoke up.
"I uhm, I agree with that guy," Erasmus said, waving his hand in the general direction of Cloaked-Guy. Using the word 'purgatory' had especially caught his attention. Nice to know I'm not the only one who thought I was in such a place.. "I don't really know what 'people' you are talking about aside from the one's who barely fed me everyday - but I had no idea there were others in this filthy city. And by the looks of it, neither of us did. Especially you, sweetheart, considering the way your yelling at everyone and calling us uhm, what was it, freaks? I'm personally not a fan of hypocrites and I don't believe the girl who can engulf herself in fire and come out unharmed has any room to be calling this a freakshow. For all you know," He said, teleporting next to Cloaked-Guy, "I could just be a really fast runner. Point being, I could care less about this stupid ray of light. I'm more concerted about Red's bloody hand here and I'm far too nervous and excited there are real people around me to care about some pointless lantern that only seemed to have led me to actual people." Erasmus felt like he was rambling, but he didn't care. It was the most he's talking in quite some time and it felt good.

Minuet let the blonde girl apply the paste to her hand and did as she was told. When she
was done, she looked over at blue hair guy and teleported next to him and Mr. Shadow
Cloak. She felt like she could actually trust them, especially blue hair guy. He seemed to
actually care about what was going on here, unlike the girl who had enveloped herself
in fire. When blue hair guy was done talked, Minuet decided it was her turn to speak. You
say we don't need to attract attention, but no one here is attracting attention but you. We're
staying in the shadows; You're causing some big ass light fixture. We're being quiet, you
on the other hand are singing into the sky with some rude attitude. Tell you what, no
talent show wants some hypocrite who can't support her own argument. Loose the shell,
hun, because we all know you're wrong. You do too. Minuet shuffled further back, bumping
into blue hair's side. She was pretty short, compared to the guy next to her.

"Fighting is not going to get us anywhere, though I do agree a hypocrite is amongst us." she raised her brow at the fiery girl before looking back at the rest, "Anyways, if someone is really after us and we're really that scared about showing off our powers, why don't we get away from the two light shows and find somewhere else to talk, unless we want to pretend we never saw each other." she crossed her arms, then pushed some of her hair behind her ear before observing every person in the near vicinity closely. The injured red head- who now seemed fairly healed- made a statement Kingston agreed with, she had a weird feeling they would get along in the future. Kingston still was unsure about what to make of the rest, but she knew she wouldn't get along with the girl that played with fire. Well, maybe. The fire girl could actually be really nice, but just has a short temper. They may just be to judgmental since they're confused and excited because they never knew each other existed. Chewing her lip, which became a bad habit when she was little, she wondered if what she said would work. They won't listen to you, most of them have the idea that they're the leader and no one controls them, which no one doesn't. she thought to herself with a sigh. After a few minutes, she began pacing, wondering what to do. She could either run back to her house and forget about the whole thing - which she knew she wouldn't-, or she could stay with everyone else.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━power night vision | tagged frank c: , people at the beacon | location beacon
There was so much.. anger, Andy thought, anger and fear and so many more clashing emotions. Some were flaring up-- like the girl who had burst into flames, while others were flaring back-- nearly everyone else there, and there were still some who just watched-- silent, wary, careful.
Andy's dark eyes wandered slowly across the group, analyzing, soaking up appearances and traits. In his head he counted them-- a healer, a mimicker, a firebender, a teleporter, a boy draped in shadows, a girl who moved shockingly quickly, and the boy with glasses that stood near him. That was seven [eight, including him]. Where there more? If there were, he would be surprised; so many of them living in this same forsaken city, and yet none of them had seen each other yet.
Andy inhaled slowly, then exhaled, going over his thoughts. At the current moment, nearly everyone was retaliating to the fire-girl; each person bristling with anger at her words, their own voices ringing sharp and indignantly. Listening, he decided not to add of his own two cents in-- everyone else already had, and the situation was so unstable and shaky already that he was afraid too much would easily shatter it.
His attention was drawn to the most normal of them all-- the boy near him, hiding behind a pair of thick glasses. He looked.. Andy watched his face carefully-- scared? He was scared, he realized, and frightened, flinching away each time anyone raised their voice. He pitied him, and, making a decision, Andy slowly approached the boy, treading with soft and measured steps. He himself was a reserved kind of person as well, but he thought that, given the situation, it would be good to extend a olive branch-- so he held out a hand and, his already-quiet voice softening even further to avoid any other attention [which neither he nor the other boy, he assumed, wanted], said, "Hi, I'm Andy. What's your name?"
