cal was satisfied they were all in on it. he turned when alannis said that she had spare weapons. he smiled and raised his hand. i could use something better than a dagger. so could ben over there. he said pointing to ben. when he looked over at ben he saw him looking over the monster. curious he stepped over. what is it? he asked looking at what ben was looking at. the 22 year old only nodded and continued to study the creature and not even answer his question.

this mangled beast... he said opening it's jaws and studying his teeth. it's only an adolescent. see it's teeth are very sharp and thin. its also missing a couple that are growing in. he said still curious. this also made calcifur turn his head in curiosity. so there are bigger ones? stucker the hyena said, feeling like he was the only one to speak up. ben nodded and stood up, adjusting his bag as rin began to slither out and wrap himself out his chest and shoulders.

She nodded in confirmation of Ben's statement. "They get much, much bigger. I saw one nearly twice as big just last week. One of the merchants called it some really weird name but I didn't pay much attention. It's not even these we need to worry about. Not only are there more of these around, but there's other monsters too. Its the flying ones you need to watch out for. Jaeda and I watched one pluck a camper right off the ground and fly away with him. His animal died two hours later after it lay moaning in agony." She shuddered and wrapped her arms around herself. Jaeda came to her side and pressed against her legs to provide comfort. To an animal, things like that didn't bother it much. It was simply the food chain. But to a human like Sora it was life altering and traumatizing. She stepped over next to Ben and reached down to wrap her hand around the arrow she put in the beasts leg and with a hard yank removed it before putting it back in her quiver. "You need to be careful Ben. Birds find snakes to be mighty tasty. That means big birds like big snakes." Jaeda turned her attention to the snow leopard. She hadn't encountered many other leopards before. She'd seen one other leopard before and no snow leopards, so naturally she found herself oddly intrigued.

Alannis listened to their conversations as she turned and dug through her weapons bag shifting around before pulling out curved, silver sword crafted to fit bigger people and an actual gun. Just a handgun but something that definitely isn't seen too often anymore. Standing back up she held turned back towards the others. Light gave a grunt of disapproval towards Alannis giving their weapons away. "You want to arm them? Goodness Alannis have I taught you nothing?" Alannis laughed. "Easy Light. You're just upset I'm giving other people attention. Now... The sword is for you Cal and the gun is for Ben if he knows how to aim." Turning her attention to the other girl and her leopard she gave a quirky little smile. Light flicked her tail and finally sat down her head coming above Alannis' waist. She was a large cat and she knew it.

ben had never seen a flying monster yet, he had been keeping cover beneath the trees for so long. he looked at rin and smiled. i do agree that you should stay in my pack... he said, before seeing rin slither back in the pack and stay among his various items. he turned towards alannis. she offered him a gun, and his eyes began to sparkle. this was going to be a great opportunity. he pushed up his glasses and stood up from the monster. he grabbed the gun and studied it for a moment before slipping it into a position on his belt. he dipped his head as a thank you and smiled at the snow leopard by her side. turning back towards everyone else he sighed, ready to begin the long trek they would be taking.

calcifur took the curved sword from the girl and smiled as a thank you. lets start walking, we can rest in a little bit. he said taking a rope he had and tying the sword to his belt, making a makeshift holster for it. pushing against his companions neck to urge him forward, the hyena began to take lead. take lead, let us know of what is our path. he said knowing that the canine had more of a nose than anyone in the group. the cats may be able to smell a certain distance and certain things. though nothing that stucker could smell.

benny would walk in the middle among the group, seeing as how he was "vulnerable" being only armed with a gun and a strong snake. rin could kill someone if he wanted to, though he would only be able to do so if he bit it and squeezed it to death. that and they could easily kill him while he restrains and kills them. so he wasn't as powerful and quick as the other three animals. though he could get food underneath the ground quicker than they could.

Sora nodded at Cal. "I agree. It's time to head out. She headed off after Stucker and found herself walking along side Cal with Jaeda on her other side. Her hand rested on Jaedas head between her ears, gently stroking her fur. "So Calcifur, what are you doing out here all by yourself? Well not by yourself; with Ben. It just doesn't make sense for someone to want to be out here with monsters all around ready to rip your head off. It just doesn't make sense." As they walked past trees and plants that rose up several feet from the ground, she absent-mindedly dragged her hand across the leaves and bark. Though she appeared relaxed and calm, her muscles were still tense and ready to defend herself not just from monsters, but from Cal. She was always aware of her surroundings and was hyper aware of Cal and how close they were. She hadn't been this close to another human being in months and it was throwing her off.

cal turned to see sora walking beside him as they trekked through the forest. she wanted to know why he was so far out in the forest around these terrible monsters. looking down at the ground in front of him, he sighed and turned back towards her. well, my town was infested with monsters not long ago. it was a small town and they thought to take it over. i watched them kill my parents and little sister when i was 17. me and stucker fled the town and ran for a while. we took refuge in another town. though everyone there was sick, and going mad. i had to fight people to get some food. there was no real order there. i only stayed until i was 18 which was a couple months. he continued, wondering why he was even telling her his story. i traveled for a while, going from town to town, some abandoned, some riddled with monsters. it was horrible. when i ran into ben a few months ago he was just terrible. he was terrified and always hiding. so we teamed up and figured we might find some form of shelter in the forest. mostly because i knew there were flying monsters that would attack his snake. they don't like having to compete with the monsters on the ground so they never went to the forest. he finished shrugging.

With a sigh as they all started to set off Alannis grabbed both bags with surprising strength for a girl of her size and started off at the end of the group. Light traveled at her side making sure her partner would be okay with carrying both the bags. Her blue eyes darted left an right before she finally fell in line her side brushing up against Alannis' side as they walked. As their now large group walked on Alannis' mood quickly deteriorated into slight depression the bags and Light brushing against her as they continued.
Light, picking up on her companions mood swing let out a low chuff and licked her hand as they continued. It was often that Alannis got like this... she'd experienced her family dying before her. All sacrificed to kill a single beast. Feeling the rough warm tongue on her hand the brunette smiled a bit. She managed to keep it up swallowing down her bad mood. How long will we be traveling? Light finally chimed in. Alannis shrugged and repeated Light's question to the front of the group. "When will our first stop be?"

She listened quietly, absorbing the knowledge like a sponge. Ever since she had to be on her own she had learned to pick things up quickly. Once he was done talking she glanced up at him. "Dang. That's quite the story. At least your parents died with honor though, they died for what was considered a logical reason. Dying my monster is better than be killed in your sleep by a jealous peer like my dad. Or dying from depression like my mother." She shrugged and scuffed the dirt with her boot before she looked up and straight ahead. Jaeda brushed up against her as she walked, doing her best to offer her comfort. She sighed and stopped to pick up a small white flower from the ground. She stood up straight and smiled at it. As she continued walking she hummed a soft little tune as she pulled petals from the flower one by one. She looked over her shoulder at Alannis before up at the sky and its quickly fading light. "Well, we haven't been walking long but the sun is about to go down. We should find a good spot and set up camp for the night and continue tomorrow. Preferably a cave or an abandoned house or building of some sort. You don't want to be outside during the night. That's when the worst of the predators come out."
