Ash nodded softly in agreement, looking up to the dark mountains on the horizon. Maybe, if they kept up a good, steady pace the entire way, they'd be able to reach the mountains by dawn. But, Ash wasn't sure he'd like to make it so far, so quickly; if they walked all night, when would they be able to sleep? He supposed they could keep up the habit of napping during the day and getting things done at night. Yes, that certainly seemed to be the best plan. Being part bear, and much more so than crow, Ash could see much better at night than the average human. He was sure he'd be able to manage a nocturnal lifestyle, once he got used to it. All they needed was water and a shady spot to rest during the day, and they'd be set.

"Let's go, then." With that, Ash continued to walk towards the tall hills towering above the desert floor, keeping his gaze focused on the smooth peaks but listening to make sure Alex was keeping up with him. He still worried a bit about getting fatigued from so much travel and with so little water, but the prospect of shelter and rest at the end of the journey made it worth it.

Eva let out a little whimper as Bae still insisted on leaving, though looked noticeably relieved at the good news that Alexis had been contained. She instinctively stepped out of the way as Bae leaned forwards on the cot, ready to get off of it. Still, she quietly protested, "B-but, Bae... You just got out of surgery, should you really be walking around now?" She hoped he listened to her reason, as she didn't think she'd be able to keep telling him no if he didn't. Seeing him grip his hair out of frustration only made her more scared that he would end up leaving. At least he'd offered to allow her to come, that way she'd be able to make sure he didn't get into too much trouble.

Anna continued to walk. By now the chemicals the scientists had used to made her feel groggy had worn off. The sky was growing darker by the minute and she still had not found a good place to rest for the night, not that she would get a lot of rest anyways. Her owl DNA and being in an unfamiliar place with no idea what was happening would make sure that she would get little sleep that night. As she walked, the pupils in her eyes began to dilate, slowly expanding to let light into her eyes as it grew darker. While Anna did have the ability to see in the dark better than humans, her vision wasn't perfect and definitely was not as good as an owl's. Maybe this would be faster flying? Anna suddenly thought, the idea popping into her mind. She had not had much practice flying before, as she had only been allowed a short time to try flying in the lab. Just enough time to know that she could fly, just not very well yet. Anna spread her wings, broke into a run, and flapped them a few times before she was airborne. Even though Anna was not flying very high, preferring to stay close to the ground, she was moving a lot faster and had a much better view of the desert around her. But it wasn't long before she began to grow tired and realize that she could not fly very long. She flew towards the ground, getting ready to land, and stumbled as her feet hit the ground. She recovered quickly though, managing to regain her balance. Anna examined the area around her, gazing at the new scenery. There were a few small bushes nearby. She thought she could hear something off in the distance, but she wasn't really sure.

Alex began to walk beside Ash, not walking too fast but not too slow. "I-If we find a good p-place for camp we can s-stay there for the night" he suggested. Hopefully they would, Alex had a good feeling they wouldn't make it to the mountains, and if they did that still left a lot of exploring tomorrow as well for an actually place to set up camp. Plus finding a water source, which was a main priority.

"And water t-too, that woulf b-be good too" he added, glancing up at Ash then forward again at the distant mountains.

Bae waited for an answer, but all he got was another question. He rolled his head back in frustration "of course I think it's the best, ive already rested and if I spent any longer in here I'm actually going to diieeeee" he said, pulling his head back up and moving his hands from his hair. He let out a puff of air and moved his hands to the edge of the cot so he could hop off this time. Upon his feet hitting the ground he gripped the cot to allow himself to get stable for a moment.

"I'm going out for just a little bit, i'll be back before lights out" he finally told the hybrid. He didn't need her approval, he would be fine. And no one besides her was here to stop him.

“It’s a half hour walk,” she repeated, “I think I’d be alright. It’s not like I don’t have experience in defending myself.” There were certainly a few stories to be shared in the name of that topic; her parents would still huff up when they were mentioned. ‘One personal thing at a time,’ she figured, and decided not to continue down that tangent.
After offering up her name, there had been a moment’s silence. ...Was it bad or boring or something? Birgirl moved closer in beside her, and when Zyr looked over, she noticed a sort of smirk dancing on her lips. What now?
Sounds like purr. Her eye twitched. Cute coincidence?
“For someone who can’t see and won't even tell me their own name, you’re pretty cocky.” Her voice sounded tight in her throat, whether it was from a lack of water or that she was suddenly tense again. Maybe both... Not to mention, she’d just made another undercover bird pun. “What did that other guy say you are, a jay? Sounds like a good breakfast. You’re no veal, but you’ll do.” Purely to emphasize her point, a pink tongue ran over her upper lip for a second, just in case the lighting was enough to make it visible. A toothy grin and squinted eyes; obviously falsely friendly.
She would never actually do something like… well, in this case, ‘hunt’ someone. The only things she’d ever hunted were deer and rabbits, and that was with a bow and arrow. Sure, she’d chased something down once, but that was what, a year ago? Chores for her parents had taken priority. Aside from the odd trespasser, she wasn’t familiar to the whole ‘eat you alive’ shtick.

Ash nodded in agreement, glad that Alex felt the same way about stopping before dawn broke so they could at least get some sleep. For now, though, it seemed best to just keep walking. If they did find a good place to rest, Ash would suggest they stop, but until such an opportunity presented itself it made sense to just carry on.

"Yeah, water is definitely top priority," he agreed. If they found any water source, Ash figured it would be in everyone's best interest to stay near it, regardless of how far from the mountains they were. If they did find water, how would they know if there was more down the road? It was possible that there wasn't any water in the arid mountains, so if they did stumble across some they would be best off to take the opportunity and stay near it.

"A half hour walk through snake-, coyote-, and scorpion-infested wasteland, yeah." She glanced back at the cat girl, raking her gaze over her as though sizing her up. "Coyotes do have a taste for stray cats, y'know." She shrugged as she said this. "And then of course there's the domestics, the barrier, other domies... Need I go on?" Emily knew that Zyr had no idea what the bird meant by such terms as "the barrier," and hoped to use this ignorance against her. If Zyr felt she didn't know what was lurking in the darkness, she would probably be less likely to wander off and more likely to stay with Emily, and the bird girl wouldn't mind having a guard cat.

Emily snickered as Zyr threatened her, obviously not taking it too seriously. "Cocky? Maybe, but you're also being a bit of a sourpuss." Her little smirk only grew as she dropped another cat pun. Along with this was a mischievous glimmer in her eyes, and the two features together betrayed how immensely she was enjoying this. She could make these puns all night if she had to. "Quit getting your whiskers in a twist and lay off the hissy fits. I'm not gonna hurt you, if that's what you're thinking."

She stopped to see how Zyr reacted to that barrage of clever jabs, then said, "The name's Emily, by the way." Hopefully, trusting Zyr with her name would soften her reaction to the insensitive cat puns. Emily didn't intend to chase her off with the remarks; she was only having a bit of fun, as twisted as it was.

Eva squeaked and reached out as Bae hopped off the cot, ready to catch him if he stumbled. She drew away as he steadied himself, however, and just stood there with her arms crossed as she tried to figure out what to do now. She didn't want to keep him in the medical ward, if he really hated it that much in there. And besides, if she came with him at least she could keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't get hurt, right?

With a defeated sigh, she stepped forward and nodded slightly. "Fine, let's go then..." She murmured. "But only for a little bit, we don't want you to accidentally reopen your wound." If such a thing happened, she would not really have any idea as to how to help him. With this in mind, she said, "And let's not go too far from the, um, the medical ward, okay?"

Chelsea nodded, "How about we head for Alex? Seems like an easy enough job, lantern shark, bobcat, barn owl. Nothing to ridiculous, we are certainly more than a match for him." She said. Truth was she could roughly remember where she had last seen Alexander's blip, after all, the domies were tagged to make it easy to track them, why not use it? It would be much easier since she roughly had her bearings, when they got close enough they could just track him anyways.

Alex nodded once again in agreement, boy did water sound nice right about now. He was dying to get just a drop, but thanks to the bobcat it kinda leveled things out with the shark as far as water and heat go. So he lucky there. As they walked he looked around them, the empty desert surrounding him made him sick to his stomach, it was nothing like the forest he had grown to love. And now, this was his home. He looked above him at the slowly darkening sky, as it got darker out he was positive they would be able to see every star without trees to block his view. And he was very much looking forward to that.

Bae smiled as she finally agreed. He would prefer to wrap up his tummy and slip his shirt on, much more professional than walking around shirtless for everyone to see his wounds. He moved his hands off the cot and moved over to the counter containing a few medical wraps in the drawers and on top. He opened up a few draws quickly examining them ten found gauze and a wrap. "Have you ever wrapped stitches before?" he didn't want anything to get caught in the wire or the wound itself, that would a pain to deal with later.

Bae wished the nurse was in here to help him, but she was probably off helping somewhere else. He looked back down at the gauze in his hand and then back at Eva, unsure of what to do

Zach gave a small sigh as the other boy, Darkin, left. He didn't feel as though he needed to put up a barrier to the guy, but he didn't feel confident he was trustworthy yet. Upon seeing the sun begin to lower, the boy sighed, his deep brown eyes peaceful for once compared to the panicked state they'd been in right from when an unknown person flew down before him, Alex and Ash.

Right. You've been here consciously for a day now. All you know are there's people who are injecting others, including yourself, with animal genes. Thy're making people weird. Behaviour wise, and visually. Trust no-one. Zach's tanned skin paled slightly, almost feeling sickened by his own body upon recalling what had happened with his own behaviour. I examined someone's hand... I need help. Send me to a mental hospital, put me to sleep, anything... Anything but this hell. He took off the burgundy coloured plaid shirt he had been wearing and rolled it up into a pillow-y shape. He set it on the floor, laying down with his head on top of it. He just lay there, staring at the stars, hoping it was some sort of bad dream. Trust no-one.
