Caroline

Caroline quickly walked over to Hawke. "Uh... O-Okay then..." Caroline looked back at the bathroom door, making sure that Eva had not followed her. When Caroline saw no one, she sighed out of relief, and kept walking towards the door with Hawke. She quietly opened it, and held it for a few people, looking down at the ground, so that no one could recognize her. When they said thank you and got put the door, she shut it and followed Hawke to the sidewalk. She leaned close to him, so that her mouth was close enough to his ear, so that he could hear her. "Who was that woman?" She asked very quietly, her eyes darting around, making sure no one heard her.

Hawke looked behind him carefully, making sure there was nobody in earshot. "I... uh..... She's been on TV for being a particularly merciless trainer at the Goldhawk Agility facility. I was worried......" Hawke trailed off. She didn't know he was a tendit. He didn't want her to know. If she did, he'd have to explain... and then she'd be worried.

"SO," He said with unnecessary volume, once they had walked a little ways. "New apartment. You're helping me move. We should get there soon."
Hawke wasn't generally someone who felt a need to fill silences, but at that moment he did. It was different when talking with people about topics he wasn't comfortable with. He was eager to change the subject. He was a bad liar, in general. It wasn't that he was unable to construct a lie but that he had too much pent up nervous energy that he felt that something about words would emplode if he didn't properly get them out. Pent up energy was a problem for him. He had a higher metabolism than others, not just humans but tendits too. He always had energy for anything, and he was never not in motion. Even if he was sitting down he'd be bobbing his foot up and down in place or thrumming his fingers against a surface. Being still was difficult because it was opposite his nature. Sometimes it would turn negative, and the energy would be destructive. That would be when he'd attack his guards. There were also little scars - hardly noticeable to the naked eye - he had inflicted upon himself. Destructive energy was not good, although most of it was gone now that he'd escaped. He had somehow evolved to be more... settled.

He turned to Caroline to see how she'd respond.

~Caroline~

Caroline perked up at the thought of helping him move. She loved helping people, even if it was just taking a box while he takes another to an apartment. She looked at him and smiled brightly, eyes closed. "Cool! Let's hurry and get to the house, then! Race?" Caroline looked at him with ambitious eyes, and got ready to race him. She also loved to compete with people, because it put all of that stored up energy out of her body. Whenever she did something exercising it took the gitters out of her, which she got a lot. She always kept in her energy so that she could stay composed, and use it for times when she needed it. Though, when she just couldn't control it, she would train. Like, go running or practice melee attacks. Caroline watched Hawke carefully as she waited for his reply.

Without pause or response, Hawke ran.
It was unexpected and silly and he ran as fast as he possibly could, stretching out his legs to their full extent. He breathed in deeply and kept running, shoes padding against pavement. He laughed as he ran, smiling, looking back to see if he'd surprised her. The cool air filled his lungs as he ran. He hadn't run truly for far too long, and it felt refreshing to do it again.

Caroline laughed at his unexpected dash. She started running after him, and soon wasn't far behind him. She finally caught up to Hawke, with a lot of effort, and smiled at him. Breathlessly, she said, "You're fast. How did that happen?" Caroline couldn't imagine any normal human being able to endure enough training to get as fast as Hawke was now. But, maybe he was just naturally fast. Or maybe he wasn't telling her something. Caroline shook the last thought off. He probably is just naturally fast. And maybe he runs in the mornings for practice. If there were something as important as what I suspect of him, I'm sure he would tell me. Wouldn't he. Caroline just looked over at Hawke again, and smiled, disregarding her nosey thoughts.

Hawke smiled, it almost faltered when she said the 'how did that happen'. Right, he remembered, he wasn't supposed to be that fast. Humans weren't that fast. He wished he could tell her he was a tendit, but then he'd have to explain his wings. He'd have to explain how he cut them off. He didn't want to do that, it was too painful a memory to recollect, atlleast for now. His speed faltered a little as she caught up, she pulled ahead and then he caught up again. "I run daily, you know." This was true. "You know it doesn't hurt to be too fit during a war, or in the aftermath of one." He panted out as he ran.

Caroline smiled, very relieved. “That's what I figured. If it had been anything else, I probably would've freaked out.” Caroline coughed a bit. “Kidding, but I would have been surprised.” Caroline let some silence pass as she caught her breath for a moment, before asking, “So, how much longer until we get back to the house?”

Caroline kept looking ahead after she asked that question, trying to look for people. She saw no one so far, but being the ditzy girl she is, she noticed a bird, and watched it. It was getting bugs from the ground, then it swallowed them. The bird flew up to the tree it was next to, and fed her babies. Caroline didn't see what happened next, though, because she face planted. Luckily, her reflexes saved her from her face actually hitting the ground, as most people's did when they trip. Caroline layed there for a minute, a little stunned, then she looked up at Hawke with an innocent smile.

Hawke slowed down and directed his attention to where she was looking. He saw the bird. He was about to make a smart remark but then, unexpectedly, suddenly, she fell. It was like watching a cartoon, her graceful limbs giving out beneath her.
He looked at her for a second, chuckling. "Ah, gravity, thou art a heartless b**ch." ((BIG BANG THEORY QUOTE!)) "He offered her a hand, pulling the girl up to her feet. She was as light as a creature of much smaller stature. "Be careful now, you birdbrain." He jibed, then in all seriousness looked her over discreetly for any scrapes. "You okay?"
