Van allowed the blonde to lean against his chest and leaned backwards with a free arm on the ground so as not to fall, wrapping the other one around Cybil to give at least some warmth.
"I do not know if you really want to them..." he mumbled, then sighed and said: "At home we are told that the dead children and stillbirths go to heaven and become angels - or something like that. They become stars and play up there in a world without pain and all.
In my hometown many children die early, so the legend has expanded and young teenagers are told that they don´t need to be afraid of death as they become stars. The parents are told the same - that they do not have to mourn their dead sons and daughters, as they are watching over them in the sky.
And in the eyes of every child, you can see the stars glitter, if the souls of the children decide to go back to heaven. "

He pulled grass from the ground and threw it away.
"All nonsense, I have never seen stars glitter in dying children's eyes."
He felt his jaw muscles tighten.

"On the whole, human beings want to be good,
but not too good, and not quite all the time..."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Cybil felt herself settle as she listened to Van's tale.
It was a mournful one, and when his jaw tightened
as memories shadowed his gaze, the Beta couldn't
help but reach out and run her lean fingers across
his cheek. "It's ok Van...I...I don't know what
you've gone through, but I'm here to make sure this
new pack is better than our old ones."

The Beta's voice was soft, like silk across skin,
smoothing away any burning memories that
might be haunting Van. Her fingertips glided
across his face delicately, as if she were afraid
to hurt him.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that Van..."
Cybil's voice had softened to a mere whisper as
she stared up at the fighter. Her entire focus was
centralized on comforting Van, and she felt...
well something feather in her heart.

Serenity scowled at Cache. She hadn't startled him. She had politely tapped the space
in front of his plate, where he would have been able to see her hand reaching out
before her finger even landed. Even so, the teen sighed and pushed her hair out
of her face with one hand.
"I'll remember that next time I decide that speaking to one of you is worth it."
Deciding to transform as well, the girl focused, and shifted into her white wolf form.
"The name's Serenity...level six fighter! Hah!" Serenity let out a little whoop of
triumph. It was a small victory, but she needed the boost; Serenity hadn't been

feeling the best recently. Especially with all the new faces that Serenity didn't want around. And then of course her stomach decided to ruin that feeling by rumbling. The teen remembered the food that still sat on her plate inside, and whined softly. Stupid Cache, making her abandon a perfectly good piece of meat. Clearing her throat, Serenity eyed the wolf in front of her. He looked like he could keep up.
"I'm hungry, so i'm gonna hunt. You should join me. I deserve at least some company after saving your life." Serenity grinned devilishly, already using the event to get what she wanted. It wasn't uncommon of her to do, after all, it was the only way people voluntarily stayed around these days.

She awoke with a start, heart pounding, limbs tensing, eyes going wide and staring up at the yellow-tinted ceiling. One arm was resting above her head, tangled in her hair as it fanned out across the pillows. For a brief, shining moment, she’d forgotten her predicament, thought she was waking up once more in her bed at home’ the cloud-like mattresses felt the same… As she slowly regained her consciousness though, she began to notice the differences between her room and this one, and with those observations came the memories of a few hours ago… The tense car ride, racing through the woods on all fours, first laying eyes on the beautiful cabins, the awkwardness as she entered the room, slipping past everyone else and finding her room, falling onto the bed to rest for just a spell… Well, so much for that. She didn’t even need to turn her head to discover it was much darker, much later, and the dim commotion of people in other rooms told her everyone must have arrived by now: the time for introductions had passed. A groan as she turned over to stare at the door. To be so unpunctual was the equivalent of a sin in her household, among many other undignified behaviors. It made her skin crawl and stomach churn, premonition warning her to how much more difficult she’d just made this. No one knew her name, no one knew her existence, and now, she’d have to introduce herself to everyone individually instead of just blending in with the pack, something she was not too keen on.

Breathe… She thought, taking a deep breath before groggily sitting up. It is just the first day… Everything is going to work out.

Sighing, she looked around for a moment, contemplating what to do. She wasn’t the least bit tired now, thanks to that unintentional nap, so going to bed for the night was out of the question. There was a faint ache of hunger in her stomach, reminding her she hadn’t eaten since early in the morning… The tantalizing scents from dinner were still wafting through the cabin, but she dimly recalled the scent being there before she’d fallen asleep; dinner was likely over now. Maybe she’d sneak down and get a snack… Assuming the fridge was accessible to students… Was it accessible? Another groan. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever learn to cope with how different this was… Oh well. She certainly wasn’t going to pace her room or stare at the clock until her eyes got tired; she was going to do something downstairs. Pushing off the bed, she finally got to her feet, then briefly looked herself over in the room’s floor mirror, straightening her clothes and pushing her bangs out of her face so she could see better. Aside from those few things, nothing else was out of place: prim and proper, as always. She headed out.

She carefully glided down the stairs with ease, having done so a million times over on a much larger staircase before, and in heels no less. Once she got to the base, she looked around curiously, taking in more of the room’s beauty now that it was vacant. Elegantly carved wood, plush pillows and seats, antique furniture, that warm, rustic glow, and adding to the atmosphere were the delicious scents of food still wafting from the kitchen. Her stomach moaned again. A quick peek, she thought, still somewhat determined to not get tangled up in anymore awkward entrances for the rest of the night. She crept to the kitchen on silent feet and did just that; peeked her head in just so she could catch a glimpse of what was inside.

Two boys, a blonde and brunet, playfully conversing and fiddling with various kitchen materials. She frowned and pulled back around the corner, keeping out of view. The girl wasn’t shy necessarily, but she was in a new, unknown environment, surrounded by strangers, most of which were now above her, not to mention the fact that she was late in introducing herself, so they’d probably all stare at her like a foreigner until she’d sorted that out. She just didn’t feel like it tonight, didn’t feel like presenting herself in the forced stiff and proper way she often did. Her gaze briefly caught the front door, the notion of going outside now giving her an idea.

A walk. Yes. She’d go out for a walk, or maybe even another run. Calm her nerves further, regain her composure (it truly wasn’t like her to hide behind corners, and she intended to abolish that behavior as soon as possible), maybe even get a better look of the reservation. Then by the time she came back, perhaps those boys would be gone, and she could grab a snack before disappearing into her quarters for the rest of the night. Good plan. She started for the door, already feeling better with the idea of true solitude.

Once outside, she ignored the faint hum of conversation close by and quickly shifted, once more taking the form of a black wolf that blended well with the shadows of the night, making it easy to slip away. She took a moment to shake out her fur, similar to the way she’d straightened her hair earlier, then took off, racing once more through the wood.

ZANE

Tags: Matrona

Zane roamed through the forest his grey, white, and brown wolf blending it with some of the foliage, and other times peeking out. He didn't seem worried by it as he moved his tail high, and even waving like a banner. If he was in his human form he would be humming, but as a wolf he instead settled on his tongue lolling out. He really just now entered the territory, and didn't exactly know where he was going. But he was a pretty laid back individual, and therefore didn't really stress over it. Maybe, he should have because he didn't go very far before a strong scent of pack hit his nostrils. Had he roamed on another's territory? He had thought this forest to be unclaimed.. Zane blinked as suddenly a black wolf similar to that of the glossy feathers of a raven passed by him at a run. Had she not smelt him? Zane felt a wolfish grin overcome his maw as his interest peaked - eh he was bored. Zane burst through the bush giving chase of the female his paws silent on the ground beneath him. He didn't take on the approach of a hunt, as he did not see her as prey, but also so she wouldn't take him as an aggressive unknown. "Hey beautiful, wait up!" He called after her his eyes amused.

Pushing through the brush, the red and cream werewolf froze to find she'd come across a rather large and handsome looking buck that was grazing a few hundred feet away. The breeze was not blowing her scent to him not was it blowing his scent to hers, but now that she had her eyes on him, she wasn't going to let him get away. Crouching down, she moved through the brush to edge around close to him. She was about ten feet from him when the buck suddenly lifted his head quickly, looking over her hiding spot to the trees behind her as distant sounds of growling filled the air. Unnerved by this, the deer turned and was about to start trotting away from the noises, but Kathrine was much quicker. She sprang forward, spanning the distance between them quickly and sinking her jaws down on the base of the buck's neck. He screamed and tried to leap up out of her grasp, but she applied all of her weight onto his back and instead sent him crumpling to the ground. She tightened her jaws as she pinned him down and held him there until he stopped moving completely. Kathrine removed her now crimson stained fangs and lifted her eyes, glancing back over her shoulder in the direction the deer had looked. She could just barely hear the sounds of growls and snarls coming from what Luke had deemed his territory and from the sound of it, someone had made the mistake of stepping over the border into said territory and had upset him.

Now they were paying the price of their mistake. Unlike before with Ferrell, Kathrine did not feel a sense of need to rush in and protect whoever it was. Luke's reaction was justified this time as he'd claimed the land and now he was protecting it from someone who had trespassed on it. No, this time, Kathrine just narrowed her eyes thoughtfully and turned back to her new prize. She bowed her head and closed her eyes, thanking the deer for his sacrifice before throwing it up onto her back and moved to try and find a place to burrow a good den. She'd decided she'd dig in somewhere she could face Luke's borders as she really didn't want him sneaking up on her at night and attacking her if he felt the need to. There was something about the brute that still bugged her, reminding her to be cautious the next time they came across one another. She could place what it was, but it nagged at her continuously so she thought it best to focus her den on what her instincts told her to be cautious about rather than move far away to where she would have no idea where he was coming from. As luck would have it, Kathrine found two large rocks pressed together not too far from a stream that was just a little ways downstream from where she'd stopped earlier that day. The rocks met together and formed a kind of overhang that just had enough room underneath it for her to start digging a den that would be more than big enough for her to sleep in; enough for her and the buck she'd killed to fit in at once and still have adjusting room.

Once she had it dug out enough to suit her, she dragged the buck into the den with her and started working on her meal. She let her wolf instincts take over as the red and cream fae enjoyed her evening meal.

ELIZABETH
[ RANK ] Huntress (5) xx[ TAGGED ] Roisin

Digging her sleek silver fork into the succulent mounds of flavourful spaghetti, Elizabeth whipped up another mouthful and drew it to her eager lips. One slender hand supported her chin as she studied her packmates with curiosity in those warm brown eyes. For a shining moment, she completely forgot about her earlier nerves and agitation at having been sent here. Her body was at ease, a small smile was playing at the corners, and her demeanor had released the pent-up emotions of frustration and bitterness. In fact, Elizabeth was feeling... Wonderful. It was as if she had known these new faces for an age, gotten to know their darkest secrets and most intimate pet peeves. Premonition of an exciting life at Evergreen Reservation never warned her how much these people seated around her, chatting amicably, playfully throwing affections around, could be so much like her own family. Hearing Roisin's bubbly words, she cast her buzzing thoughts aside and tossed an even brighter smile in her fellow Huntress's direction. She was never the friendliest one on the block, yet this girl sitting opposite just radiated a pleasant aura and brought out her softer side. "That might just be an understatement," she replied. "I don't think I've ever felt happier eating such wonderful food."

At this response, Elizabeth had the fleeting impression of the wind skimming through her hair as gently as a falling feather and the lush grass pressing against her rounded paw pads. If there was one thing that pushed all her worries aside and gave her a deep, indescribable sense of contentment, it would be the great nature. Since young, her senses had all been attuned to the flowing streams and rustling leaves and life that flourished in those ancient, enchanting woods. The one rimming the very edge of Evergreen was just about the most mysterious of them all. Different smells and sights and sounds revealed a whole new uncharted territory for Elizabeth to explore and touch. Back in the Blackburn household, to harm any part of nature would considered as a deadly sin, along with the cruelty of animals. She did not need to comb through those towering trees to know how many, how diverse, and how magnificent the woodland creatures that dwelled in that woods were. It called out to her, giving her the sensation of wanting to float out through the window to take a walk through the woods once again. Or maybe a good run. Yes, that'd certainly do after a heavy meal.

"Say," Elizabeth began, her eyes sparkling like diamonds at her brilliant idea. "Why don't we take a run through the trees later on? The sky is beautiful during sunset, and we would have plenty of time to return to the reservation afterwards," she offered invitingly. That proved how powerful nature could be. It tugged in her in wirh a string like bees to a honeycomb. Elizabeth could barely leave her place of solace and solitude for more than a day. Besides, after the rowdy hustle and bustle of the pack in the kitchen, the idea of a moment in silence seemed pretty tempting. Peace and quiet. Just what she liked. But the amount of food left on her plate clearly screamed to her that she wasn't going to leave the table anytime soon. Oh well... Eating a little slower definitely couldn't hurt. Dipping her fork in again, she delivered three more quick bites and sliced off another part of the tantalising mashed potato. For a moment then, she tuned out all the noisy voices attacking her ears and focused on her meal.

The plate was picked clean of every single morsel of food, and being the proper person she was, Elizabeth neatly ridded her mouth of tomato sauce with her napkin and politely asked to be dismissed. Benji didn't seemed to have heard though, so she merely shrugged and rose to her feet. She gestured for Roisin to join her outside and walked round the length of table, her feet thrumming softly against the smooth wood flooring. Then, she turned the knob as quietly and gently as possible to avoid drawing too much attention. She would go for a run, then return to take a nice refreshing shower, before blow-drying her ebony locks and finally retiring to the cloud-like confort of her bed. A good plan. Glancing into her reflection on the window beside her, Elizabeth carefully flicked her hair away from her face and smoothed out the creases on her blouse. Apart from those minor details, she looked every bit elegant and decent.

    Well, here I go.

STERLING
[ RANK ] Lead Huntress (7) xx[ TAGGED ] Jaiden

Sterling nodded slightly as she listened attentively to Jaiden's words. His grim, piercing stare and that tousled green hair was certainly distracting, but she lifted her chin to face him squarely. Looking away was a sign of weakness, which was unthinkable as the Lead Huntress. Why did he give her that look? Did he do it on purpose or was it just his natural expression? Either way, it gave her an ominous sensation of dread that rolled off him in wave and inundated her heart. Perhaps he was just shy like some of the other boys here. She was an open and gracious character though, so she decided to give him a chance. There could be a friendship blooming between them for all she knew. "Jaiden." she expressed in a politely light enough tone. Tilting her head a little to one side, she considered what she was going to say for a fleeting moment, all the while training her exquisite greyish-blue eyes on his dark ones. "I don't trust people easily; I certainly have too much experience being betrayed. That is the reason why I am not the most trusting person on the block, and I prefer to get to know someone first before declaring him or her my friend." She continued. Sterling winced slightly as the horrid memory of her history rose up from within the darkest depths of her mind.

"But, I am willing to give anyone sincere a chance." She returned her attention partially to her food. She couldn't hold back the temptation and the gnawing hunger any longer. The food just looked so good. Picking up her silver fork, she delicately twirled the spaghetti around the prongs and brought it to her mouth. Her surroundings and noisy buzz of talk around her faded to a dull throb when she focused on finishing her meal before everyone else left the kitchen.

"Say..." The simple, short word pulled Róisín out of her thoughts, the post-meal sleepiness along with her fatigue from travelling all day threatening to pull her under, even now, as she sat on the comfortable, yet sturdily wooden dining room chair. Blinking quickly, she turned to Elizabeth, a smile sneaking onto her lips as she waited for her to continue, still half-slumped in her seat. Almost embarrassed, Róisín then noticed that almost everyone was still busy eating, while she had stuffed her maw as quickly and greedily as though she hadn't eaten in days. Shaking her head slightly, she dislodged the thought from her mind, directing her attention back to Ellie. The devilish glint in the other girl's eye pulled a huge grin onto her face before the girl had even began the end of her sentence. Her eyes lit up, glinting in the soft light of the dining room."It'd be a great way to scout out the area for tomorrows hunt." She agreed, and the promise of viewing a sunset inciting a feeling within her that could only compared to what a dog must feel upon hearing the word 'Walk!'.
Her gaze followed Elizabeth's as the other girl asked to be excused, chiming in with her own request, but neither of them were heard. Ellie caught her eye as she rose, and so she did too, careful not to painfully scrape the legs of the chair off the floor as she did do. She padded almost silently after Ellie, a soft thudding falling almost in-step with the other girl's thrumming footfalls. The cool evening air nipped at her as is attempted to enter the warm house through the door that Elizabeth had opened, swirling past Róisín and pulling gooseflesh onto her semi-bare arms. She hugged her arms to her body as she stepped from the comfortably warm house to the cooler outside, her body taking a second to accustom to the temperature change. "
I'm not exactly dressed for running..." She said, half serious, as she gestured down to her lacy top, white jeans (which were, miraculously, still white after the sauce-heavy dinner) and the light, heeled boots on her feet. With a cheeky grin, she stepped into the shadows, the blinding light washing over her vision before she moved back into the other girl's line of sight, her belongings now carefully tucked out of the way. Her pink tongue lolled out of her mouth as she gave a wolfy smile to the huntress. "This is what you meant by a run, right?"

Her mention of wanderlust caused a little flame to burn under his amber eyes. He knew that feeling all too well. The need to explore, to travel far, far away. It was similar to the need to stretch your legs, except it was a need that could not be sated by mere exercise. "Romania? Wow." He said softly. The Eastern European country was one of the furthest within the continent from the small island just off the North Western coast of Europe, but he knew of it all the same. His father used to tell him that he had distant relations there, that he would take them to visit someday, but those notions, as well as his father, were long gone. As her question reached his ears, pulling him from his thoughts, he smiled softly. "I guess. The weather was always miserable, and, in our town, everyone knew everyone. You could never escape someone you knew." With a quick laugh ending that sentence, he shook out his pelt once again. "I suppose it was my friends that I missed most, rather than the actual place. It was really weird moving to the middle of nowhere, but nice at the same time. We lived in a big house near a woods, where a wolf could stretch his legs daily, without worrying about someone finding you." Bunching his muscles, he launched forward suddenly, covering the ground between him and the dens in one leap, then climbing up to the level where she sat with another one. Keeping a distance, he sat opposite her, his tail wrapping around his front paws as he sat, as straight as a statue, gaze softened slightly as he watched her. Now that he was within striking distance, perhaps staring intently was not the correct body language. "What about you? Do you miss Romania, or do you prefer your wandering?"

Ferrell/ Loner (6)/ On her territory/ Wolf/ Tags: Marc

Ferrell watched with her one blue eye and one brown eye, as he pulled out her dagger and proceeded to give some lame excuse as to why he was trespassing. Like she hadn’t heard that a million times before. God, she hated not have two arms about now, because she would have made a point of crossing her arms. To make do with just one arm, CJ just clutched the dagger in her hand harder.

Puffing out air in exasperation she exclaimed, “Yeah sure. Like I’ve never heard that one before. And what is so exciting in that direction anyway. I have explored over there and there is nothing of importance in that area.” Ferrell pointed in the direction he was heading in with her chin.

“Save your flattery for someone who would appreciate it.” Ferrell huffed, rolling her eyes. It was kind of a no brainer why she used knives as her go to weapon. She couldn’t very well shoot a gun and manage to reload it, now could she.

Ferrell frowned, taking enough steps until she was up in the intruder’s face. Her two different colored eyes locked with his. “Screw the military. They haven’t done one d*mn thing for our kind.” Ferrell growled, challenging him to contradict her statement.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

Cache/ Fighter (6)/ In Forest/ Wolf/ Tags: Serenity

“Wait, make that level six fighter. So we’re equals. What a coincidence.” Cache walked up to Serenity and playfully shoved her with his brown/orange shoulder.

Cache feigned hurt when she acted as if the members of the pack were a waste of time. “Oh surely, we aren’t all as bad as you claim. You just have to lighten up a little.” Cache demonstrated by nipping her playfully and jumping around her.

“Serenity. Huh. It has a nice ring to it. Kind of reminds me of an ice-cream shop back home called, Serendipity.” Cache announced with a gleam to his eye. He bet she wouldn’t like that little nickname if he decided to call her that.

Both of their stomachs seemed to growl in union. With a small howl Cache circled Serenity once before taking off into the forest. The idea of hunting with the white wolf was already causing his wolf to run ahead. He was thinking of getting a deer or maybe a raccoon. Something that wasn’t too big or two small.

His dark wolf eyes were peeled for any movement, while he slowed down his pace to a small trot. To his left his eyes connected with two large ears. Making sure he was down wind, Cache approached the bunny until he deemed himself close enough and pounced. His paws successfully landed on the fluffy bunny, pinning it to the earth as it squirmed. Cache was about to make the killing blow when black and white caught his attention out of the corner of his right eye.

Turning his head to take on the strange colors head on, Cache found himself face to tail with a skunk. Before Cache could make a break for it, the skunk released its natural protection potion for its fluffy butt. Cache howled in disgust and discomfort as the skunk ripped him a new one. His sinuses quickly filled with the creature’s horrifyingly disgusting smell. The acid in the smell left his skin aching painfully. Forcing himself to move away, Cache crashed his way out of the brush into open space.

The pain and smell was unbearable, leaving him immobile on the ground, whimpering as he took his paws and attempted to get the chemicals out of his eyes. To no prevail he remained whimpering pathetically on the floor of the forest. He let out a little desperate plea for help, “Serenity!” He wouldn't blame her if she came upon him and decided to leave him to defend for himself.

with his shoulder, telling her that not all packmembers were that bad. Serenity still
wasn't to sure, after all, she had only interacted with one of them so far. When
Cache let out a rich, exuberant howl, Serenity felt compelled to follow suit. It was
like the sound had lit a spark that had since been unknown. Tipping back her muzzle,
the white wolf let out her own howl, higher and melodious, twisting into the sky.
with that, Serenity took off like a shot after Cache, his head start keeping her a few

steps behind. As the near-auburn colored male split off to chase a rabbit, Serenity paused and sniffed the air. Pine....sparrow...Cache....Raccoon. There. Off to the right, under a large oak. Slowing to a stalk, Serenity shifted down wind, and nearly shot out of her skin as a familiar whine broke through the silence of the forest. It was Cache, and now the raccoon was gone. Growling in anger, Serenity raised herself to her feet and dashed off in the male's direction, already planning how she would punish him for costing her her hunt. Spotting the male crouched on the forest floor, pawing at his eyes, Serenity launched herself at him, and latched onto his scruff.
"You lit- ACK!" Serenity shoved the wolf away from her as an acrid smell filled her nostrils, and left traces on her tongue. Spluttering, the white fae backed up several steps, ears flattened against her head.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!"The teen snarled, swiping at her tongue. She was more shocked than angry at this point, and just wanted to help the male get rid of that awful stench. Gone was the scent of cinnamon and boy and campfires, replaced by the familiar and unpleasant smell of skunk.
