Chelsea raised her eyebrows in a mix of disgust and disbelief at the Liam's comment. "Really? That's really the best you could come up with? I've known dogs with better flirting skills than that." She said, a smirk dancing around her lips. She did notice that he was also eyeing her up, just as nervous and wary as she was, it was just that he hid it behind flirting and charm whereas she hid it behind a sharp tongue and rough humour.

When he began to talk about how many were on the island she felt surprised, mind reader? No they didn't give off the same vibe as this guy, similar, but not the same. "So, including us that makes at least five, probably six and possibly more. That's reassuring." She said, sarcasm weaved throughout her last statement. The most she'd ever fought at once was two, she'd won that fight, much to her own pleasure, but five, she could barely begin to imagine. She noticed that Liam had a slight hint of disgust tugging at his features, obviously he disapproved of the girl in some way, the hair perhaps?

She was about to voice her opinions on why they were her but he managed to beat her to it. So they were both on the same page there. Did he expect them to fight? She realised that trusting him and speaking to him for this long might not have been such a good idea. This could all be a cleverly laid trap. She mentally shook of the thoughts, if that were the case then she knew she could fight well enough to at least stand a chance. "I was about to say the same thing. I've been in enough arenas to know what they feel like. But never in one where there are this many other mutants." Her voice trailed off slightly as she slipped into thought. What the heck was going on!?

ι ᔕ σ Ł α t є ∂ [calix]

      ━━━━━━━━━ cali x ;;
..body android ;; power(s) telekinesis, heat vision ;; code name circuit ;; tags julia

________"they fear us, you know? although they do not wish to admit it, they are afraid. the only way they can feel like they overpower us is by forcing us to fight one another. they do not care about feelings. of course we see it as sick and twisted, as it is being done to us. but they see only a god-like power, and for that they are blind to our emotion." calix could, quite possibly, be one of the most intelligent androids to walk the earth. or, at least, the lone wolf that had yet to be shut down. normally, if a robot was found to be developing consciousness, they were immediately shut off and their endoskeleton was melted. the only thing which saved cal was his telekinesis, which caused him to stand out from the others. with a power like that, he couldn't go to waste. so, he'd ended up in the ring; also, apparently, now here.
________the female's rage was not questionable, although he couldn't bring himself to feel the same. he'd had plenty of time to be bitter about his circumstances, and was finished with the emotion altogether. it, quite honestly, wore him out. if he spent too long thinking on how horrible life was to him, then he had no energy left to do much else. and, as an android who was wired with the intention of helping others, he figured he would become useless to those who needed him if he tired himself fretting over his misfortune. calix refused to become useless.
________"julia," he echoed briskly, his robotic voice humming the name pleasantly. yes, it suited her. he placed his hands into his pockets, which were black skinny jeans. he always wore all black, as that aided him in concealing himself among the shadows. he could be present, but no one would notice. blending in, despite being a thoughtful android, came in handy. "i am calix. it is an... um... acronym," he added, as if to hopefully make up for how peculiar his name was. to say the least, it wasn't common among ordinary people. although, there had been plenty of different versions of him. none of them looked the same, as their design was selected by their creator, but their names were all a lot alike. there was a calin, calig, calip, calio, calil, calim... he could go on forever and ever. yet, he was the only calix. the last letter of every android's name was the first initial of their builder, where his just so happened to be xavier. the rest stood for "creditable and life-changing inventions," which was what the company who specialized in constructing droids had named themselves.

"Come now, you're hurting my feelings..." Liam said with a crooked smirk as he watched the other woman. Her one eye was hard to pull your gaze from, it drew you in. He was curious though, what sort of things did she fear most? The way the shadows had made him feel perhaps she feared a place with no shadows to hide in, or even worse perhaps she drew her power from the shadows.

Regardless she was someone that he did not plan to mess with. As she did the calculations he only nodded and offered a simple, "Aye." To her words, they were surely not alone, that much he was sure of. Speaking of the arena Liam cocked a brow. "You make is sound as though you fought without a choice in the matter?" He asked truly intrigued now.

Sure he had fought in the arena, for money, to show his power, but it was only in small underground circles. And once he had won he would slip off back into the night and back to his small flat. But the way that Chelsea spoke of the arena- it sounded like some of them didn't have a choice maybe? Like they were truly on the same levels as a bloody animal.

Chelsea returned his smile, at least he seemed to have a sense of humour, that was one good thing, at least he wasn't completely heartless like some fighters she had met. Heck she seemed like that at times. She was about to make another comment when she noticed he was staring at her face. Of course. Her eye seemed to always draw the attention of anyone she ever met, she couldn't explain it. At times she did enjoy that she instantly made others uncomfortable but then again she often wished she could meet a new person without them instantly judging her for her oddity.

She listened as he spoke again and straightened up, he was one of the mutants who came and went as he pleased. There weren't many and usually they ended up getting caught and forced to fight against their will. Those that didn't often had ways of stopping the human which didn't involve brute strength. She had been brought into the ring at a very young age and had grown up fighting. She'd been owned by the match organisers since she was eight, far too young to look after herself. Her long time in the ring had granted her more freedom than most but she was still a prisoner.

She realised she had been silent for a long time and spoke up. "I've been in the fighting rings since I was about eight years old. It's the world I was raised in. Very rich people can purchase the technology to control mutants, much like the technology that was used to ship us here. These people, in my case anyway, choose to fight their 'property' like animals. More often than not it's to the death." She spoke in a more somber tone than she had previously, "You end up fighting friends and having to kill them to survive. I assume you went to one of the more, underground rings right? Imagine that but on a bigger scale and with more cruelty and violence." She hid the emotion in her voice with ease. She had long ago gotten over killing others but she wondered how some of the others would fare, especially if they, like Liam, had chosen to fight all the times before.

Liam was a bit surprised that she opened up to him about her childhood. Perhaps she was coming around to trusting him more. If there was one thing that he knew from the rings it was that allies were hard to come by, but worth the risk. Though from her story is sounded like she had been through hell. "I am sorry to hear that, you have put in too much of your life serving the entertainment of others." He said voice sincere, not pity for her, no he did not pity this woman at all. Yes it sucked, but it made her stronger, a better fighter. For that he would never pity her.

But killing your friends- he thought about what it would be like to kill Cara... He couldn't imagine it. Christ she had been there- at the ring that night. Had she been captured too? He hoped to God she hadn't. "I never had to kill anyone by my own hand, not to say that I never caused someone to kill themselves." He alluded to his power only slightly. Besides letting her know that he could cause a person to kill themself only made him seem stronger he was sure of that. "But I cannot imagine having to do that to someone I called a friend and an ally." Liam added softly.

"Come on, standing around here isn't going to help us at all. Night is falling fast. We need to at least make a shelter. If you choose to trust me enough that is." He added the last part with a smirk looking back at her before walking into the jungle once more to try to find a spot which had good seclusion, perhaps a large rock or a good arrangement of trees that would help to block the wind and the rain.

Chelsea could tell that Liam was surprised with her opening up, then again he probably thought of it as a weakness. She didn't her past didn't matter, all that really mattered to her was surviving to see the future. She appreciated his sentiment, he could never understand quite what it was like for her but he could make an attempt to understand that most of her life had been wasted in the ring. "Yeah well if I ever get a decent chance to take some revenge on those who forced me into this life then I won't hesitate." Her voice was full of resolve, she had had many dreams about finally taking down those who had hurt her, who knew, maybe this island was her chance to make allies to help her in her task.

Or maybe that was a stupid thought. For all she knew the others were planning ways to take her down. Ahh the human and mutant minds are so complicated, do the people serve their own needs or do they think of the bigger picture? She could see Liam's demeanor had changed slightly, thinking of his own past perhaps? Then he spoke and she became more confused. He'd never killed someone but had caused someone to kill themself? Perhaps her feeling that he was a telepath of some form was true, or at least someone with some form of mental manipulation. "Not every fight was to the death but living like that meant that allies were a form of weakness. If two mutants were found to be getting close then they would be put in the ring together and force to fight to the death. If they didn't they would both be killed." A scenario that had never happened to her but she had seen occur many times.

She was debating whether or not to ask about his powers when he spoke again. Shelter? Yeah that would be a good idea, but did she really trust him enough? She didn't have to go to sleep but that wasn't really the issue. The sky was already starting to get darker in the time they had been speaking. That would be good for her, night was good for her, relaxing and comforting. She returned his grin after a moments thought and began to follow him without speaking. She walked a small distance away from him, that way they could cover more ground. She approached an area where ground slipped away to the right of her and Liam, at the bottom of the slope she could see a fallen log and she called out to Liam, "There's a fallen log over here, propped up against a few strong trees. We could make it into a shelter with minimal work?"

Trying to imagine what it would be like to be forced to kill a friend of both die yourselves made him shake his head slightly. He couldn't even imagine it. Most of the fights he partook in were just until one could no longer fight, not until the death. The times he had killed had been outside of the ring. The people who did something to him or one of the others after hours. Often those who tried to hurt him he just haunted, those who tried or succeeded in hurting Cara... They died a slow, agonizing death usually in the way they feared most. Drowning, confined places, fire- he'd made it all happen in his lifetime.

As they walked back toward the jungle he was pleased to see that Chelsea trusted him enough even if just superficially so to build a shelter. He walked up to where she had called. It was a large log that had fallen and was propped up against two other trees. It would make a good center section at least to build off of, strong and study. "Should work nicely, just need to get some large leaves to drape on either side of it. I'm going to try to get a fire going, unless of course you're ability can suffice..." He said the first time he had hinted at asking her what exactly it was that she did.

Liam's attempt at finding out what she could do wasn't particularly sly, then again she suspected that he didn't intend it to be. She shook her head, "Sorry, no such luck. My powers don't quite cover that. I will however get onto the task of collecting branches and leaves to build up the shelter while you work on that fire." She said, moving off without waiting for his reply. It wasn't particularly hard to find branches, they were in a jungle after all. She could carry a few at a time and check that each one was strong and not rotting. She picked up one and then another and then a third. She then moved the short distance back to what would be their shelter.

She propped the branches against one side of the fallen tree, leaning them at an angle. The shelter wouldn't be high enough for them to stand in but they would both be able to sit in it and stay away from the elements. She grabbed a few more nearby branches, doing the same with them. It didn't take her long to get the shelter to a point where leaves could be rested against the branches. However instead of collecting leaves she decided to collect more branches, only one side was built up, which would work but she decided it would be best to have a small pile of branches just in case. Overall it only took her about five minutes to do all of the above tasks. She was storng and wood was in plentiful supply. By the time she had finished collecting extra wood she had built a small pile, probably far too much, and the sky had gotten even darker.

J U L I A

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

    name: Julia Maxwell
    age: 20 years old.
    tagged: calix/open
    health: 90% health
    feeling: exhausted,
    thankful
    location: just arrived
    alias: copy-cat

Julia listened as he spoke, rather curious as to his thoughts on humans. He was absolutely right, of course. All the humans ever seemed to do was either talk big about how equality between mutants and humans being a "crucial point in making the world safer for everyone" or about how mutants were deadly and should be approached with caution and mistrust. It bugged her to no end, of course. It simply wasn't fair! Humans were just as deadly, they were pretty much the same excepts mutants could do certain things without outside help. She supposed that she herself was an even more delicate case, because if word leaked out to the public that they had the possibility of being around a walking, ticking time bomb, it would definitely cause mass hysteria. That was the one main reason why she didn't use her powers - total nuclear reaction. When she had been tricked into being a part of that scientific study, they had told her of the side effects of collected and/or using too many various powers. Knowing that you could possibly be the source of an explosion the size of Chernobyl would be enough to scare anyone. They essentially told her that she was a monster... and she believed them. Not that Julia believed that all mutants were monsters either - there were some that seemed more evil than others, but every villain has a tragic backstory, right? She'd like to believe that everyone (humans included) were capable of being good just as much as they were capable of being bad, but as far as the brunette was concerned when it came to herself... well, she'd rather not go there.

After she had told him her name, she smiled softly as he seemed to test it out, nodding as he said it. She had always rather liked the name Julia. Her mother thought well - her dad (apparently) had wanted to name her something like... well, she couldn't exactly remember but it had sounded to her like Agnus, and that wouldn't have been as fitting. Or at least not as fitting as she thought it would be. Sighing, she placed her hands on her hips as she looked over to the mutants who seemed to be pairing off. This didn't look good - if they wanted to get anywhere, especially off of this island, they were probably going to have to work together. When Calix introduced himself, she offered out a hand for him to shake as she smiled and nodded. "Despite what's happening around us, I'm glad to have met you, Calix." she said, genuinely meaning it. He seemed to be not only kind, but a good person to have as an ally as well. Julia chose not to ask him whether or not he was fully human or part machine although she had her suspicions. That wasn't what was important right now. "Let's see if we can't get to talking to the others."

Liam couldn't help but smirk at Chelsea's response. Of course she couldn't build a fire, well that crossed on of his questions of her possible abilities. Of course she could have been lying. As she walked away he mentally pictured a beautiful burning fire, and it appeared but it produced no heat. Letting out a sigh he let the illusion fade and instead went to grab a thing of bamboo hitting it hard to cause it to crack and using on half of it to rub up and down a log held between his feet over a small pile of moss.

It took a few good attempts to get a spark, and by the end he was sweating pretty bad but they had a fire. He placed the moss on another bed of moss he had created previously under little man made pyramid of branches until the branches caught and fell and he could then place a few dry logs over the top. All of this finished right around the time Chelsea seemed to be done dragging things behind him. "We need to find a water source, and something to boil it in, or we're not going to last very long." He said standing from the fire and stretching, his muscles aching from the odd contorted position it took to create the fire.
