He could hear the soft sound of violins playing through the halls. How he loved the music, it really was a treat for everyone, the guards included. Although he couldn't dance, Augustus was a deep lover of the arts. Maybe that was Diego's influence, or maybe it was just an unexplored part of himself, either way, Augustus was eager to join the celebrations. Diego had whisked away from him suddenly, probably excited and forgot to notify him. Being away from his prince stressed Augustus, but he wasn't about to go down to the ballroom without looking impeccable. He straightened his uniform, plucking a few stray horse hairs from yesterday's ride. With his long-sword polished and brandished proudly at his side, Augustus was ready to rejoin his prince and be presented before all of the beautiful ladies below.

xxxThe thought had occurred to him that he might be taking on another oath soon; to protect Diego's future wife. It was sad to him, the very thought that he might have to share his love of his prince with another, to share his loyalties with another. No one knew Diego quite like he did. He spent his every waking hour of every day watching over him, whether that be in silence standing by the door, or accompanying him during a hunt. And then there were the nights when he couldn't sleep, so he'd slip into the prince's room, unable to be seen and just sit in the cool night air with him, watching him sleep peacefully. There was no one who knew the prince as Augustus did.
xxxAugustus descended down the staircase and looked down over the grandeur of it all. It was most impressive, and most colorful a show. It was easy to spot the ladies from the different houses. They were bathed in their own colors; from warm tones of red to sweet shades of purple. The tall guard's green eyes quickly fell on the viper's colors. He first saw Micah, witch Qahir close behind and a handful of ladies circling him like buzzards. Next, he saw a lady dressed in tones of blue and then... there. Diego was close beside her, as Augustus noticed, she was dragging him in tow with a few other ladies. He strained to remember their names, but the one in blue he could never forget. It was Neve. Goodness, she had grown into a beautiful young woman. Augustus recollected when he first came to the castle, she was visiting about three years ago. She was elegant, but still looked like a child then. Now, one could hardly see the resemblance between the awkward teenage girl and the majestic lady now before him.

xxxAs Augustus approached, he caught Diego's eye. "My Prince." He said politely, his voice soft, only directed for Diego's ears to hear. He soon turned his attention briefly away from him towards Neve. "Lady Neve. What a pleasure it is to see you again, especially looking so vivacious this evening. I'm not sure if you remember me, I'm Augustus. " He said with a small respectful obeisance of his head. Augustus wasn't one for glamorous acts of respect, but rather humble gestures.Truthfully, he was quite uncomfortable being in the midst of the ballroom floor, as his place was more along the sides and out of the social fiasco taking place as the ladies met with the princes to compete with the best first impression and most graceful dances. He only felt he was in the way standing where he was, and was quick to bow out as soon as he could.

"run for your life, my love

Neve reached out to save him as he tripped over his own feet, he always did that when he was nervous. "Why are you so nervous. whats wrong with you," She looked at him, giggling slightly at his comment about Augustus, when he brought up the rumors, her head snapped up. "I have heard about the rumors. -" she realized he was still holding her hand, and it made her cool cheeks flush. "are- are they true? Or, disclosed information?" She looked up at him. She watched as Micah insulted more of the princesses, her sister keeping cool standing in the center of the floor like some sort of goddess. She tilted her head back to look at the prince infront of her. wow he was a sight to see, standing tall in formal dress with his (ugly) green tie, he made the prince job look not so bad, but she knew he was rather upset at this time.

She looked away from him as another familiar face appeared. Augustus. "Why Hello August." She used an old nickname she had used when they were around fifteen. "You look well," She dipped into a slight curtsy, a gracious smile sliding across her lips. She remembered at fifteen, being lanky and awkward, not yet growing into her slight curviness. But now here they were, grown into beautiful people, and she could remember throwing mud at eachother at the age of nine. He had definitely gotten more... appealing to her taste. "You know, I remember my father making me befriend you two, as he had hoped one day diego and I would marry. And my mother just laughed and said we probably wouldn't return to the kingdom of the vipers, but now my brother rules in stead of my father, and here we are, in the kingdom once again."

Looking around the room, she checked up on her sister, they were inseparable, had been since Neve was born. but all those things were soon to change. They would both marry, if not both in the house of vipers than each somewhere else. But Neve feared having to return home on her own, leaving her sister behind to go live with her brother and watch over the children her brothers wife was bearing. She sighed, looking down she realized she had left her hand in Diego's, and squeezed his hand with her finger before sliding her icy palm from his. She rung her pale hands together, clearing her throat, she didn't want to be here. She was never in these stuffy parties as a child, always outside running free. Instead she was stuck in this room, in a dress that was too tight, and her eyebrows furrowed in discomfort.

♚ ` qahir - post two

Postby Keriae » Thu Apr 28, 2016 10:54 am

    xQAHIRxxxPRINCE MICAH'S GUARD!
    ───────────────────────────────────────────────
    xxxxxxxx[ head guard for micah ] - [ location: ball ] - [ tags - micah, elli, heather ]
    ───────────────────────────────────────────────
xxxxxxxxxxxxThe crowd smelt atrocious. Everyone was wearing perfume or aftershave, and the mixture of the different smells made Qahir feel more than a little sick. The music was too loud, loud enough to feel the vibrations. The crowd was almost pressed together, there were that many people here. After all, it wasn't just the Viper princes and the princesses from the other kingdoms. There were various other nobles here, both major and minor, with their wives and even their children, should they have any. Servants were weaving through the crowds too, with platters of food and drink. He really, really hoped Micah wasn't going to stay up until dawn; on a night like this, he didn't trust any of the other guards to stay with Micah, and he wanted to go to sleep at some point. Maybe I'll rearrange the rota for tomorrow - someone else can do my shift. It wouldn't hurt, and it would allow him to stay in his bed in the barracks for a little longer.

xxxxxxxxxxxxSubconsciously, Qahir's hand had gone back to resting on the pummel of his sword. It was a fine blade, nothing like the longsword his fellow guard, Augustus, carried. That sword was longer than his own, yes, but the blade was thick and flat, with a simple crosspiece and pummel. Qahir's rapier was shorter, but it was thin and pointy, needle sharp, and the perfectly balanced steel almost looked circular. The pummel had a rounded top, and an intricate knuckle guard looping over one side of the hilt, and a general guard to protect his fingers at the base of the blade. Micah was the crown prince, heir to this land, and Qahir would be damned if he didn't have the best looking, expensive sword of the lot.

xxxxxxxxxxxxTurning his head, the man took in the sight of the undulating crowd. He could just see Diego not far away, and Augustus had joined him now. Nice of him to turn up. He had been hoping he wouldn't be left to keep an eye on the pair of them. God knew Micah was trouble enough on his own. Qahir rather hoped one of the girls would take such offence to his words that he'd get slapped. One could always hope. He'd deserve it too, with his arrogant I-will-have-whatever-I-want-and-I-don't-care-for-the-consequences attitude. Besides, it would liven the night up. He could laugh at his charge's misfortune and then reprimand the girl. Anything to liven the night up.

xxxxxxxxxxxxAt the stairs, the great oaken doors opened, and the buzz dulled for around half a second, long enough for Qahir to look up. A girl was making her way down the stairs. She could only be seventeen at the most, with dirty brown hair. Her dress was pastel pink, sweetheart neckline, strapless and featuring a scattering of darker pink flowers across the bodice, waist and the hem. She had to be from the Blossom house, then. He thought she was Heather, though the last time he had seen her had been under a much less fortunate circumstance. He'd been given leave from guarding his oh so dear prince, and had been part of the party that took the Blossom castle and therefore the kingdom. How thrilling it had been, too. He'd lost count of how many men he'd killed.

xxxxxxxxxxxxBut once in the crowd she disappeared. Qahir pushed it to the back of his mind, focusing on his prince and maybe keeping him out of trouble. Maybe he'd taunt one of the girls until they slapped him. Yet when he next looked up, the Blossom princess was making her way through the crowd, grabbing a glass of champagne from a passing waiter just before she reached his side. The fruity smell of strawberries and black cherry made his nostrils tickle unpleasantly. At least she was polite, remembering his name. Not many bothered to learn the names of the household guards, whether they stood outside doors or were a prince's constant companion.

xxxxxxxxxxxx"Evening, Heather," he replied. He might have been born in the streets, but apparently living among the upper class for a few years meant manners rubbed off on you. His mother would be rolling in her grave. "These events are nothing more than extravagant displays of how much money a person has. I'd rather be on a hunt or in bed than this." To be completely honest, he wished he was in his bed right now. Or even better, in town, where he could drink and gamble and find a pretty woman. Nothing like these posh little upstarts. Here, he couldn't drink, he couldn't relax. Strictly speaking, he wasn't even meant to be talking, but as long as he kept one eye on Micah, there should be no problem. Besides, he could always just argue with the prince in a corridor, who cared? And he could still eat. Not much though - he'd had a bowl of broth with bread only an hour or so ago in the palace kitchens.

xxxxxxxxxxxx"How are you finding life under the Vipers?" Her family were nothing more than lords now, under the rule of one king. A united kingdom was stronger anyway, and he'd killed off some weak guards when they'd taken her lovely castle. Well, not so lovely. It wasn't even located in a good place, being in the middle of a meadow with no means of defence. The Blossom kingdom had been destined to fall.

    ████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████
tagged // micah, talya, maris xxxlocation // in the ballroomxxxnickname // goes by ophi to most peoplexxxwearing // something along these lines
xoxophelia inhaled sharply as yet another string on her corset was pulled tightly against her ribcage, her eyelashes fluttering as she gripped tightly onto the handlebars of her seat. the young woman had dreaded this day, for today was the day of the ball. ophi remembered the last time she had been invited into the viper's palace, and it was a day that she had truly never forgotten. they were, in her eye's, all snakes, waiting to pounce and prey on the nearest victim. hopefully, ophi thought, she would be able to make it through the night. the thought of what was to come made her shudder, her shoulders tensing suddenly. "careful, dearest, or i'll pull too tight and you won't be able to dance!" her servant had said, and ophelia laughed absentmindedly. she had never thought of treating the woman as lower than herself, and saw her instead as a mere companion. "i don't suppose you're offering the idea, are you?" the younger princess replied, yet the servant only smiled and continued to tighten the leather around her waist.
xoxfinally, after much frantic worrying, opheli stood carefully from her position, and directed her attention towards a nearby mirror. she looked strange in her own eyes, the way that her hair seemed to frame her features, the strands spiraling towards her chest. her eyes had appeared slightly more striking, the hazel color almost glowing beneath long, sultry eyelashes. blinking, ophi felt her skin pale slightly at the thought of seeing the prince's once again, the color draining from her skin. "is everything alright?" asked the servant, and ophi nodded, reminding herself of the opposing woman's presence. "yes.. i'm just nervous, that's all." she feigned a smile, before turning once again and slowly making her way towards the entrance of the ballroom. with each step she took, the princess could feel her heartbeat quickening, but did not hesitate. she reminded herself that her sister would be there as well, the thought comforting her slightly. talya vass was someone who ophi would always look up to for guidance, and the younger girl knew that her sister would always be willing to help in any situation that she could. after what seemed like decades of walking, ophi made her way into the ballroom, her eyes scanning the terrain silently.
xoxshe had recognized many familiar faces, along with some princesses that she had grown accustomed with, their faces easily recognizable. everyone had looked absolutely stunning, and ophi couldn't help but smile at all of those around her, her heart swelling with warmth. however, she kept a steady gaze, her eyebrows raised slightly as she stepped forwards carefully, the silky dress cascading in a river of satin beneath her. before she had the time to inspect anyone else, she was abruptly cut short, noticing micah approaching her quickly. the boy was very handsome indeed, his smooth brown hair resting gently upon a beautifully sculpted face, adorned with high cheekbones and a conspicuous jawline. his eyes seemed to glitter everywhere he went, and ophi knew that they held much more emotion than she had suspected earlier. his question had caught her off guard, but she smiled anyways, masking the sudden dread that boiled in the pit of her stomach. "why, prince micah, what a silly question to ask indeed.. it's very nice to see you as well." the princess said, before curtsying gently in his direction, her smile widening slowly. she had always known how charming and cunning he had appeared to be, but his words had always seemed to spoil him rotten. however, she took no notice, and instead watched as he made his way towards another princess, her stomach twisting as she wondered where he had gotten this information from.
xoxopheli decided to direct her attention elsewhere, and noticed her sister across the room, entering quietly before joining another princess, who's name ophi acknowledged as maris. immediately, the younger princess's mood lightened, the feeling of comfort washing over her in waves. picking up her skirts, opheli managed to make her way across the ballroom, tiptoeing around many, before halting in front of talya. she was so beautiful, ophi thought, the way that her smile seemed to radiate across the room, brightening the scenery. quickly, she managed to stop just short of her sister before tapping her gently, grinning from ear to ear. "hello, sister!" opheli smiled gently, before letting out a loose laugh, the sound echoing across the room. she hadn't seen her sister in what seemed like ages, and her presence always made her feel much safer than when she was alone. acknowledging the other girl's presence, ophi curtsied courteously. "hello, maris! you both look absolutely lovely." she smiled warmly in their direction, before her gaze traveled elsewhere, searching the room for someone she highly anticipated. she hadn't realized she was doing this, and suddenly gazed upon them once again, her eyes flashing with worry momentarily, before returning to their original ravishing exhilaration.

thinking back on her decision seconds ago, julianna probably would have opted staying by herself in the back. but when it came to events like these, she was not kidding when she said her father would kill her if she didn't behave properly. her sister was better at these sort of things. julianna never really fit in, and looking around at all the royals in the ballroom, she wasn't surprised that it hadn't changed.

a servant had come by when audric responded to her out-of-nowhere comment, offering up a glass of god knows what. that was one thing about staying in the kingdom of vipers. she was about to be introduced to many new things. julianna gently took a glass and set it down on the table, smiling at the servant, before looking back at the surprised audric. it was an amusing sight, nonetheless. "no...you just look like you are ready for this party to end." julianna responded, swishing around the drink in her glass. "i hope you do not mind me asking this...but what do you think of this selection? do you think it is a good idea?" oh screw it, skip the small talk. julianna directed her hazel eyes to look at him, taking in his features and body language. from what she can recall, this was the prince that had murdered a few people, and because of that the townspeople hate him. it must suck to live in a kingdom where everyone hates you.

she took her attention away from audric for a split second to scan the room, which was filling up quickly with chatting people. she pondered on exactly how many spies were around the castle- and where they would most likely be? reminder: you are not safe here. the princes will probably have the girls spied on when they are alone in their room. to find out who they really are. to find out secrets from one of their possible future wives. good luck on that. the only thing that would be of any real value would be her journal. though she has always kept that hidden. even when she was a younger girl. her eyes flicked to the right for a second to neve and maris. it seemed as if the ice princesses were familiar with this kingdom and the princes in it. what an advantage for them. their kingdoms will be well off in micah's hands, due to their already friendly acquaintance. but what about yours? she couldn't help but wonder how her kingdom will be after all of this is over. she certainly was not trying to become queen, nor married to one of these princes. as far as scarlett went, she had no idea what was going on in that head of hers. for once, she was actually worried. why didn't her family board a ship and sail to one of the private islands to refugee away? their kingdom was on a beach after all, it would have been an easy getaway. julianna's body began to warm up as she thought about the 'what ifs'. well, that was an understatement. her body was constantly warm and radiating off heat, as it contained fire roaring within it. (even though it was the most helpful fire you could encounter.)

she brought her full attention back to audric, as she lifted the glass and took a sip of the cool liquid, cooling her temporarily. "your brother seems to be enjoying the selection." she added finally, alluding to Micah and his comments towards the girls. it was not far from the truth. the future king seemed pleased with himself and how he could insult so many girls in such a little amount of time. that must be a record for that egotistical boy.

        ▌ PRINCE DIEGO
        _________________________________________________________

diego's head toward augustus as he walks over, greeting him with his usual soft tone that is reserved just for the prince.
dipping his head as a response to his guard, he keeps his eyes on him for a moment longer before focusing on neve and
wolfes conversation, slipping his free hand into his pants pocket, staying silent as neve's past statement went through his
head. she had asked him if the rumors were true, of course he couldn't answer for the other princes rumors, but he had
the choice of admitting or denying his own rumor but instead he stayed silent.

tilting his head to the side as he focuses back in on the conversation going on between two of his favorite people, althou-
gh what he heard made his face turn a bright red shade, "you know, i remember my father making me befriend you t-
wo, as he had hoped one day diego & i would marry."
she states, making the blood rush to his face, back then he hadn't
had an interest in anything like marriage, even now he hadn't considered it until he saw his old friend, who was now a b-
eautiful young woman. taking a breath, the now embarrassed prince cleared his throat, watching the princess of the fro-
zen house as she squeezes his hand in between her cold fingers before letting it go finally.

biting his lip, prince diego let his eyes wonder over all the girls in the room, observing them all, trying to remember a-
ll of the rumors going around about them all. however his eyes rested on maris, taking in her attire. he kept his eyes on
her, wondering if in a few years neve would look like her, or at least similar to her.

diego was glad the two sisters had different personalities, he couldn't handle the elder sisters blunt statements, especially
the rude ones. that, and the habit the prince has of snapping at people was what kept the two from being more then meer acquaintances instead of actual friends, though seeing how close the two sisters are, it may be a good idea to try to be f-
riendlier with her. with a blink, diego realizes that he had been staring at maris for that entire time. clenching his jaw, he
quickly flicks his gaze to one of his brothers, audric, hoping that the girl standing next to him hadn't noticed, his gaze cou-
ld be taking the wrong way in the younger sisters eyes.

            jackson shields.
            ░░ ♥ ░░░ ♥ ░░░░ ♥ ░░░░░ ♥ ░░░░░ ♥ ░░░░ ♥ ░░░ ♥ ░░

xxxxx a party. honestly? jackson had just about had enough of his so called 'parents' originality; every kingdom with a semblance of humanity threw parties. what was to separate the viper kingdom from the rest? even a hunt of some sort to meet with the wrongfully captured royals of the other kingdoms would have been less cliche. the elder prince huffed in annoyance, adjusting the lapels of his suit jacket. he'd been moping around pitifully for days after learning of his true heritage; if he couldn't even bare to face himself at the moment, how could he be expected to face not one, but an entire five kingdoms? this whole entire social event was a mess, starting with its premises. was the king out of his mind? capturing all of his allies at once? did he realize how power hungry and yet naive his travesty of a political move was? hadn't his advisers tried to reckon these plans? or perhaps, they hadn't been included in them?

xxxxx well, it didn't matter now and in jackson's case, his opinion wouldn't have mattered then either had he the chance to try and dissuade his father. the king wasn't always so willing as to acknowledge his thoughts. in fact, come to think of it, jackson had spent most of his childhood neglected by both his father and mother; his opinion almost always ignored. only now was he coming to realize that this may have been because he was adopted. why would they trust the political standings of someone else's blood? he thought bitterly to himself. he'd had enough rumors and recent revelations to last him a life time as he was now.

xxxxx coincidentally, just outside of his room, jackson could hear inklings of conversations between rushed palace members who were, no doubt, running late for his parent's party. in fact, he could even hear the hushed voices of his own servants gossiping across the room for god's sake. perhaps about him? he wasn't sure. really, he didn't care; there wasn't much they could say about jackson that he didn't already acknowledge about himself. he already knew he was perhaps the least attractive of his siblings, he knew of his awful bedroom habits, he knew people talked of his lazy attitude and nonsense behavior, and he now knew of his adoption. so no, he didn't care much for their sharing of tongues, but he couldn't help but notice that they certainly spoke of twisted tales and lies. jackson knew there were plenty of people in attendance tonight who they could certainly be chattering on about. like the eldest daughter from from hallow or perhaps his brothers for instance. gossip wasn't something jackson paid any mind. it was misleading. phony.

xxxxx meredith, a more motherly, elder servant of his, rushed him across his room muttering about punctuality and impressions while tugging at his hair with a wire brush. jackson, respectful as ever, did apologize eagerly to the woman, but couldn't find it in him to truly care once she'd successfully banished him from his own sleeping chambers. call him crazy, but facing the entirety of four angry kingdoms was not something jacks would refer to as enjoyable, especially when all they had on their minds was judgement. with nothing left to occupy him otherwise, the prince shuffled down now empty corridors toward the regal ballroom his home palace had tucked away in it's center. he didn't even have to think much about where he was going, his feet carrying him from years of muscle memory subconsciously stored in his brain. his parents proudly hosted all of their finest events in the ballroom, so it only made sense this particular event would be held there too.

xxxxx as expected, the room was brimming with life. young ladies dressed elegantly in gowns and men suited to the dime, hoping to impress said women. jackson has no trouble spotting his siblings among the crowd, micah easily surrounded by the largest flock of people. it was funny, because jacks couldn't make up his mind as to whether those people were admirers of his brother, or unfortunate soles he'd managed to royally piss off already. he couldn't help but smile at the thought of his brother's awful antics. at least something in the world was still right; even if that was micah's arrogance.

xxxxx lazily, he made his way through the guests, forcing himself to revert back to his carefree, jovial self that the people knew and some scorned him as. half way to micah, the prince bumped into someone. he'd been distracted by an almost familiar head of hair. a pair of shoulder blades which looked almost as though they belonged to an old friend. "ah, sir, my mistake." he offered the man, placing a bony hand along his shoulder in some sort of apology. only, this was no random party goer. it was charlie. "oh. brother, what a pleasant surprise. fancy seeing you here." he joked, wholeheartedly.

xxxxx just as he was about to ask charlie to accompany him over to micah, he caught sight of the particular girl he'd been enamored with shortly before. "i, uh, forgive me. i just have to..." jackson didn't bother to finish mumbling his sentence, instead he pushed past charlie and made his way over toward the girl who'd been standing near micah. only, she was gone. slightly dazed, he scowered the room, his eye's catching on a maiden with her skirt pulled up as she moved with grace toward the opposite end of the floor. he didn't think much about what he was doing until suddenly he was there, just a few people standing between him and the girl. her hair was exactly the same as he'd remembered, her eyes still as full of life as they once were beneath the afternoon sun. how could he forget opheli?

xxxxx he wanted desperately to reach for her, to touch, but he couldn't. it had been years, he wasn't allowed. he had no right. but, then again, here she was, forced unfortunately, into his kingdom. he just barely registered his arm reaching forward, fingers trembling, passed the bodies in his way before he withdrew himself. what made him think she'd listen to anything he had to say? for all he knew, the young woman from hallow didn't even remember his name. "ophi..." he breathed, turning around back toward charlie.
            xxxxx

      ── ─ MICAH SHIELDS
      ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[ title ] future king, vipers [ location ] ball [ tagged ] Qahir, , Elli, Opheli, bunch of people

micah couldn't help but laugh at his guard comment about the girls wanting an entrance to his bed. "I wouldn't have a problem with that at all." he said a grin appearing on his face. when he spoke of the girls only wanting his money he looked at the guard with a serious look. "do you think I'm some sort of idiot? like I would share my money with any of their kingdoms." micah knew how the game worked and how to play it. "if any of these girls think by marrying me I'm going to help out their kingdom they should get their brain checked." micah wasn't planning on releasing any of the royals from the other kingdoms who were locked up. they were staying put until he decided other wise. he would be king of five kingdoms and until the other four learned to respect him as their king they could starve and suffer for all he cared.

when the girl from blossom spoke he pretended to listen like a gentlemen but he only caught the last part of what she said. "your power just sucks, accept it." this girl was a bore to him. she had so sass or anything to her. she was way too poised for him. you would think that would be a good thing to look for in a potential bride and queen but it just bored the prince. "am I suppose to be amazed you can ease drop on people's conversations? because honestly I'm not. anyone can do that with normal hearing." micah was harsh. everyone would learn that soon enough. he said what ever was on his mind and didn't care if he hurt anyone's feelings. it's not like he wanted to hurt anyone's feelings it was just how he was. yes, making someone cry here and there brought joy to his dark heart but he always felt bad afterwards. he had to learn to put people's feelings aside for their own good and tell them how things were going to be. if he wanted to be a good king he had to learn to be cold and he was. he was the coldest person you would ever meet.

when micah's brother audric interrupted the conversation it made him grin. "I could never be weak, brother." you would think the future king would be angered or think twice about what he was doing because of his brothers comment but it only made him want to do it more. his attention was then grabbed by his childhood friend again. he smiled when she said he would scare everyone off and he wouldn't have a queen. "have you seen how I look? I'm a total babe. they would all be stupid not to want to marry me." confidence was defiantly something micah did not lack. he knew he was good looking and he had a way with words that would make any girl fall for him. micah always got what micah wanted with our without the use of his powers. if he wanted he could make a girl fall in love with him. it would only be for a hour or so but it would be enough to get a girl to see how sweet and kind he could actually be.

when ophi spoke his attention was taken from his brother and drawn rightfully to her. when she didn't answer his question he wasn't surprised but when she decided the conversation was over before it started angered him. did she not remember who he was? he was the next in line to be king. her king. did she not notice the crown on his head? it shiny and had lots of jewels and his sash said his name for crying out loud. she shouldn't have walked away before he allowed her to. it was highly disrespectful. "that doesn't answer my question." he said following behind her leaving the girl he was speaking to behind. "I asked a question and that wasn't an answer." his voice was calm and his green eyes stayed on the girl the whole time. "if you don't wish to answer the question then say so. don't just walk away." if the question was too personal he wouldn't make her answer it at this very moment but he couldn't marry a girl if he wasn't sure her bloodline was pure or not.

micah then noticed a few more girls around her that he should have noticed sooner. "you all look very lovely tonight." he said with a charming smile before focusing his attention back on the girl he wanted. before he knew it here came Jackson wanting the girls attention. "someone seems a bit nervous." he said taking a glass of whatever alcohol before taking a drink of it. there was no way micah was going to make it through this night without one drink. he looked toward the main doors where his mother and father just walked in and were announced. even though he was royalty himself it was still a sign of a respect to bow whenever you were in a king or queens presence so he did so. his father being in the room made him nervous. even with all these people in the room with him it made him feel like he was alone in his bedroom with him. before he knew it his glass was empty and he could feel eyes on him. he knew his father would want him on his best behavior. he held out a hand to Ophi and smiled. "would you do me the honor of dancing with me?" if his father saw him trying to get to know these girls hopefully it would please him.

"run for your life, my love
run and you don't give up"

She watched as his face brightened as she mentioned marriage. she smirked, she could definitely see them being married, but it was much more of a reality for him to marry her elder sister. She felt the numb tickling at her fingers again, and she shoved the thought away, frost gathering at the tips of her fingers, and she rubbed her palms together. Augustus seemed to be rather awkward, as did Diego, but that was rather normal. She rocked back on her heels, watching his eyes move along the crowd. This was a thing that he did often, watching people without saying anything, and it reminded her of the last time they were together and he spilled soup on his lap while staring at her father across the table.

this time, the person he had focused on was someone she cared for dearly. her sister. she was kind of shocked, because there usually was a reason diego was watching people, and maris did look rather stunning in her dress. She kind of cleared her throat. "If my sister looks more interesting, m'lord. You can most definitely go speak with her, i'll just go talk to Charlie." She smiled, a sweet smile, with a slight amount of venom behind her pale lips. She tossed some of her hair over her shoulder, waiting for him to say something snarky back, her eyebrows raised and her lips pursed.

She looked up as the queen and king walked in and were recognized, and she automatically bent at the knee in a practiced curtsy. Her back remained straight, and as someone walked by, she grabbed a glass of what looked to be champagne. She took a delicate sip, and though she was rather parched, she had to refrain from chugging the whole thing like a stable horse.

Pressing her lips together in a line, she looked back at Maris, her long legged glory, her platinum hair and blue eyes that was just like Neve's but she seemed to be much prettier to the male gender. It was always Maris that was asked to dance, always maris that was sent flowers and other gifts, and Neve was the one who you would talk with to get to talk to Maris.

She cast her light eyes down at the glass in her hands, she was used to this anyways, it was really no big deal that this was happening. Halfway through the thought she realized she was lying to herself, if this was any other prince it would be no big deal, but this was diego.
