- Julia was curious about this kid, and despite her straight-faced outward appearance, it's true that she was slightly interested into who he was. He was new - almost everyone knew the layout of the high school, but she could understand how hard it might be if you weren't from here. It was more like a maze if anything, except it didn't always change like the Labyrinth. His words were almost enough to get a smile from her lips. Almost. Her face remained straight as she let her hands fall to rest on her hips. When he noticed the book she was reading, he pointed it out and her eyes returned to the cover. Of course, she knew the book inside and out, but she wouldn't be able to tell him that. Maybe he might not join in with some of the preppies teasing. 'Freak', 'Sociopath' and other such derrogitory terms were often used against her, but over the years she had slowly grown to be incredibly apathic towards such comments, and that was probably why she seemed so guarded at the moment. Truly, she wasn't being mean, or at least she wasn't trying to seem unemotional. It was just that she had done so for so long when meeting new people, it became more and more like a bad habit.
"Athens. Julia Athens." she said simply, figuring he would give his name to her whether she asked for him to give it or not. Sighing slightly, she had looked to the so called 'useless' piece of paper earlier and memorized the poorly written directions on there. Did secretaries want the new students to get confused and lost on their first day of school? They must, otherwise they would have given him better directions. "We're going to the same place, follow me." As she did so, she began walking away from him, a bit slowly at first so he could catch up, but she picked up the pace a bit once he did so. "I'm not surprised you got lost. The school secretaries gave you horrible directions. You probably did a loop trying to get through the hallway in the science wing. They don't realize there's a quicker way around. Not like they ever go anywhere besides the front office..." she muttered, shaking her head slightly before looking back to him. Clearing her throat a bit, she decided that he was probably okay to talk to - at least for now, before he was corrupted by any popular girls who might find him cute. "As for the Silmarillion, you have to read it enough times before you can actually understand it." Or have a photographic memory. She left that part out. When leading him around a corner, they came across a group of the more 'popular kids' and Julia held back the urge to roll her eyes. They were giggling as looking their way, and she picked up the pace a bit.
'Hey Sociopath! You don't want to be late for class - might blemish your perfect record!' one called out as they passed by them, and the rest of their little clique laughed and snickered, high-giving each other as Julia clenched her fists and sped up even more. "Ignore them; they couldn't tell the difference between an english essay and a mathematic equation." she muttered, a slight growl to her voice as they approached the classroom. "They also smell fear, so careful."
