      Stephen ; the flirt
      -------tags ; Indie, Fletcher

If Stephen were to be completely honest, he had always disliked coffee. Its bitter taste and foul smell had never been something he had grown used to, even after so many years of consuming it himself. Though he had never shared his theory with anyone else, Stephen had always secretly believed that the drink was not something anyone would consume out of sheer pleasure, but rather because it made them appear sophisticated. A childish belief, it had been one that had remained with him throughout the course of his life, as most of his bizarre theories did. Though he would never care to admit it, Stephen was rather odd in that way.

One might find it exceedingly odd for that reason, that an individual who hated the drink with such passion would spend his weekends in the very spot where it was constantly being served. But unlike the other students who visited the café to receive their weekly boosts of caffeine, Stephen visited it for the opportunity to flirt with girls. He found the reality of their "all-boy's school" rather unfortunate, as he personally found dating to be a thousand times more rewarding than any schoolwork could ever be. Any free time outside of school would be spent wherever girls would be present, and he always looked forward to moments like this throughout the boring weeks he would spend only seeing those of his same gender.

He had come here today flanked by his good friend Fletcher, and they had just reached the end of the winding line when suddenly he felt something - or rather, someone - bump hard into his chest. Stephen instinctually held his arms out to catch the girl, but to his surprise she quickly found her balance before he could even touch her. As he took a closer look at the rather short girl who stood before him, he realized instantly just how quickly his luck had been granted that day, and his trademark smile instantly graced his lips.

While she had technically cut in front of them in the line, and had nearly cursed him out, Stephen didn't seem to even notice these factors. Instead, he seemed to focus his attention solely upon her, not seeming to notice anything else. "Don't worry about it," he said smoothly as she quickly offered to allow him to go first in the line, his words as soft as honey. As she did not know, the prospect of giving up coffee to talk to her simply made his task here easier. Leaning his hand up against the wall beside them as the line remained idle, he was glad for the proximity between them granted by the small space that was the café, as it meant for an easier game-plan. His smile remaining in place, he kept her eye-contact as he knew any girl would find a mark of confidence and endearing. "I'm Stephen, by the way." He paused for a moment before leaning in closer to her so as to not be overheard. "I just wanted to know... what does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?" Of course he believed that his dazzling smile along with a enticingly raised eyebrow would be enough to captivate this girl entirely. Though he used a rather corny pick-up line to break the ice, it was one he had been successful with countless times before on countless other girls. In his experience of having never been rejected before, this was obviously going to be easy.

I hope it's okay I tagged Fletcher, as they're friends c: Also, sorry if my post is a little long - intros are always long for me XD...

All Indie could do was blink as the boy, Stephen, took the opportunity to practically trap her against the wall. Having gone to the same boarding school ever since ninth grade, her experience with the opposite sex was somewhat limited to whatever interaction she could get on weekends like these, and this… this was not exactly part of her element. There were the summers to “practice”, of course, but teasing boys at the beach was just a habit she’d brought over from middle school, when she’d made it her mission to make her male classmates’ lives a nightmare of hormones and misleading intentions. As for actual flirting, well, she figured that she’d seen enough chick flicks to survive this encounter. What does it feel like… the words echoed dreamily in her mind, to be the most beautiful girl in the room?
“Pretty frickin’ awesome,” she replied, glad to hear that she didn’t sound as dazed as she felt while she edged along the wall to the side that he didn’t have a hand placed against. Deftly escaping his grasp entirely — dazzling smile and arched eyebrow included — she bounced into her place in front of him in line before remembering that she was supposed to be flirting. “That is, if it, um, means catching your eye…?” she tried, tacking it on to the end of her previous sentence. She winced inwardly. It sounded like a question, and didn’t sound nearly as good as it had in her mind.
“How about we forget I said that,” Dee said, sneaking a quick glance toward the other girls. Could they possibly walk any slower? And where was Romaine when you needed her? On second thought, her best friend probably wouldn’t let her live it down if she’d been there to hear Indie’s embarrassing attempt, so maybe it was for the best. She returned her focus to Stephen, only then catching sight of his blonde companion. Today must be my lucky day. She grinned at him. “Oh,” she said. “Hi. I’m Indie.”

CALEM
WRIGHT
- awkward

----------------

Calem drew in his lips and head while squinting at Elias's remark. "What? Pff, no." He said, trying to act nonchalant. However, of course, Calem was a big ball of awkward and he really just made his case worse. He drank his coffee nervously, reaching the end of the drink. His eyes floated back over to the petite girl, and he noticed Stephen having her basically pinned against a wall. He leaned back in to his friends, talking quietly so only they could hear. "Look at this tool," he said, obviously out of jealousy. He looked back to see that she had escaped, and he smiled lightly; until another handsome blonde grabbed her attention. Calem scoffed and turned back. "What is it about blonde guys? Why are they so special?" he was asking out of frustration. Calem rolled his eyes and took down the last bit of the drink. The straw made a loud noise in the hollow cup, so he stopped instantly. All he had now was a big cup full of ice and caramel remains on the side. He held the cup in his hand, and began to spin it around slowly, just watching the ice. It went around and around, a bit like a metronome or washer/dryer cycle. He was thinking about how he should be more bold and confident, then realizing that would never ever be the case for him. He wondered how he even became friends with Elias and Melakai given their personalities.

Elias watched as Calem continued to look over at the Stephen and Indie. Once Fletcher was noticed too, he knew that his friend would be getting a bit more anxious. His eyes left the group of three at the front of the line and laid upon the two other girls he had noticed walked through the door. He recognized them but couldn't seem to recall their names. Before it seemed like he was staring, Elias turned back to Calem and Melakai and smiled. "You either don't worry about Indie, or you go up there and introduce yourself. But watch out for the deadly glares of Stephen," he said. Elias was being serious at the beginning of his comment, but he quickly became sarcastic near the end. "Apparently girls like blondes because they're naturally dumb, and they can get anything they want from them," he laughed while glancing back at the three gathered. Elias narrowed his eyes into a thin glare as he continued to watch the three. He wasn't jealous of the situation they were in, nor was he jealous of Stephen and Fletcher, but he just hated Stephen. His glare relaxed as he turned away once more and looked at his two friends. "Don't worry about Indie right now," he said in a soft, mocking tone. "There are plenty of other fish in the sea." Elias loved messing around with his friends. While he waited for a reply, his right hand grasped the Starbucks cup and brought it too his lips. He took another quick drink of the mocha before placing it back down onto the table. It was barely half empty, but he raised his eyebrows when he noticed that Calem had finished his already. Elias assumed he was stressed about what was happening at the front of the line, and so Calem had drank it without even realizing.

Acknowledging Trinitys gesture with a gracious smile and a slight nod of her head, Violet sauntered into the cafe. Her eyes made an involuntary scan of the cafe, pausing for an extra moment at the group of boys sitting around a table. Her left brow raising a fraction at the boy swirling his ice around. Violet let her gaze follow the path of the his eyes and saw Indie sitting at the end. Her smile noticeably dropped for a second as she noticed a group of boys were looking at Indie while two other boys gawked at her.
She couldn't resist putting herself in Indies body, thinking that then, and only then, would he e beautiful. Her continuous hint if a smile returned the moment it was lost. She joined the line for coffee with her two friends, blocking out The boys fawning over Indie. As she hip bumped her two friends, she made an overly excited comment about how they had to Instagram their Starbucks together, "cause, ya know, we are so common white girls." She added, with a slur on 'so'.

Her gaze caught on the group of boys again, noticing one of the boys looking at them. He hurriedly looked away, though, which caused her mood to drop a notch. Her vision flicked to one of the other boys, he had brown hair and a quiff, which made him more adorable then he already was. She regretfully tore her eyes away from the pleasing sight to order her hot chocolate. "I'll pay," she told her friends, holding up her plain black wallet with a pink Nike synbol.

FLETCHER
fitz
the belligerent │ tags: indie, stephen

Entering a coffee shop always set Fletcher in the right mood. It not only gave him an opportunity to escape from the prison where he was trapped with the same people every single day and locked out from the real world, but on special occasions allowed him to socialize with others. And of course by using the term "others" he was referring to the ladies. In fact, as much as coffee had always been one of his best friends, the real reason that the young man always set foot into this place was in hopes of bumping into them. Indeed, today wouldn't be a terrible day for the occasion to fall on. Why was this? To put it simply, he was accompanied by his sidekick Stephen, who, like him, had high hopes of catching a glimpse of the girls. However, the other boys had showed up as well and decided to sit in the corner to spy and gossip, or so that was what it looked like. Whatever they were doing over there, he wasn't interested in it.

As the line began to move, Fletcher quickly made it to the front and was about to order his usual drink when he caught Stephen making flirtatious moves in the corner of his eye. Stephen making flirtatious moves could only mean one thing: the girls had arrived. This caused a quick reaction by Fletcher. He instantly turned to face his friend and in front of him saw none other than "the" girl, Indie Radcliffe, of course. She was always talked of by the boys. Now Stephen was using his flirting tactics on her, and they seemed to be working just fine. Fletcher overheard just about everything he was saying, but didn't get truly interested in the show happening in front of his eyes until the girl was suddenly almost pinned against the wall. That was something he wasn't expecting to see. Raising his eyebrows, he nodded in approval, even if nobody could see. Was that a move he would have made? He wasn't sure. But Stephen seemed confident about what he was doing, and Fletcher enjoyed watching him. Usually in cases such as these he would be getting upset and jealous at this point, but right now was one of the few times that he honestly couldn't complain. Now that he knew Indie and her friends were here, he wouldn't let them get away without a few words from him. He knew that Stephen would be going for the same goal.

Soon after Indie was up against the wall, she slid out and gave Fletcher a full view of her face, which looked dazed and confused. Job well done, Stephen, he thought as he watched the girl. Then she noticed him. Well, it looked like it would be his turn now. "Oh, hi, I'm Indie." he heard her say with a grin. It looked like she was still recovering from the incident with Stephen, but that didn't take away any of her beauty. Fletcher may not have ever been a total flirt, but he had certainly practiced carrying on a conversation.

"Oh, honey, I know who you are." he replied with a smirk. "I'm Fletcher." he added, and as he realized that he was now at the front of the line he quickly took out his money and got ready to order. Then, without thinking, he looked back at Indie. "What would you like?" he asked with a smile. If he couldn't pin her to the wall, the least he could do was pay for her drink.

Melakai Dillon ▬ 18 ▬ tagged; Elias & Calem

Melakai twirled his straw between his fingers. He laughed at Calem's comment about Indi being 'a babe.' He shrugged his shoulder. "Dude, she's so spoiled and stuck-up. You deserve better." He wrinkled his nose, making a face at Indi when her back was turned. He picked up his latte and took a sip, but quickly regretted it and put it back down. "Whoah...that stuff is hot." he mumbled under his breath. Melakai tossed his straw up in the air and attempted to catch it, but instead it fell under the table. "oops. Sorry, guys. Be right back." he slid out of his seat and climbed under the table, grabbing the straw. "Okay! I'm back. I am such a clutz." Melakai ran his fingers through his long brown hair at Calem's comment about blonde hair. "Guys with blonde hair are always the 'jock' type. Think they're "the best"." he imitated air-quotes at the last two words. "I've got my eye on that Romaine girl. She's a total cutie. So is Violet, but she just...ehh...isn't my type." Kai grinned goofily at his friends. He was quite talkative. He glared at Stephen. "What an idiot, thinking he can get all the girls fall in love with him just like that." Kai snapped his fingers.

      Stephen ; the flirt
      -------tags ; Indie, Fletcher

-------Stephen watched, utterly displeased, as the girl before him changed from interested to intimidated in less than a few heartbeats. She seemed confused by his actions, as though her inexperience with dating caused her to be cautious. Had he moved too fast? No, Stephen refused to even entertain that concept for more than a second. In his mind, it was more likely that she was just too much of a prude, or perhaps even not interested in those of his "team". With this justification in mind, he silently withdrew his hand from the wall by her, and contented himself with a slight frown. One might say describe his actions as pouting, but Stephen would likely correct them that it was more of a brooding silence.

-------But then suddenly, his worst nightmare became a reality before his eyes. Indie suddenly had lost interest in him, and had moved on to another man (in less time than he had time to grow bored himself). That it was Fletcher that smoothly cut in to introduce himself made the situation even more humiliating, and the scowl upon his face only grew. While any other sane person would just take this as a lost cause and simply walk away from them, Stephen was not used to getting overlooked by another man. He was used to getting anything that he wanted when he came to desire it, as that had been his way for his entire life. That this girl Indie had personally overstepped this way of life made her all the more desirable, though he told himself that she was much too short for his taste anyway.

-------Being the rather impulsive person that he was, Stephen couldn't let this slide by without getting some word in response. Because obviously, he would seem like a push-over if not. "You can have her, Fletch," he said in a lofty manner to his friend as they had paused in their dream-like introductions. Giving Indie a distasteful look, he added cruelly: "She's much too short for me, anyway." By saying this however, it defeated the purpose of the comment altogether, for Stephen had now achieved the opposite: it now was very clear how pissed off he was that she had chosen someone else over him, and it was exceedingly obvious that he was still attracted to her, despite his immature jibe.

Indie's such a drama queen. cx like, overreaction
much? But I wanted to provide a set-up behind
the sabotage. Also, there's some last-minute
info about the rivalry between the soccer teams
that I threw in there. If anybody wants to have
something similar for their own character, just
let me know in the discussion thread or something.
Indie arched an eyebrow, surprised but pleased. Wow— she knew that she was popular, but she hadn’t known that she was that popular. Aside from possibly having encountered them on another outing such as this one, she didn’t think she knew either of them— though, taking another, closer look at Stephen, she thought that she recognized him from somewhere else. It was a hunch that she chose not to linger on at Fletcher’s next words. “Oh, don’t worry about me. I’ll pay for myself,” she said, waving him ahead to the counter while casting another furtive glance around for her friends. There— they’d finally entered the line, though there were enough people between them by now that it would be obvious if she tried to rejoin them now. Not that she minded the attention she was currently receiving, that is; she supposed she could stand Stephen and Fletcher’s company for a little longer.
                  Wait, no, hold that thought—
“Excuse me?” said Dee indignantly, turning on Stephen. “Now that’s just rude.” She wasn’t entirely certain herself about what angered her more — his jibe at her height or the way he talked to his friend over her head, like she was just a thing to toy with until he got bored — but as she stuck a hand on her hip and surveyed him with a new air of imperial coldness (shortness be damned, Indie Radcliffe knew how to stare down people twice her size) it struck her why he looked so familiar. And the reason behind her déjà vu was much, much worse than any objectification or insults on his part. “Hey, I know you— you’re on the soccer team, aren’t you?” Dee narrowed her eyes, willing the name to the forefront of her memory— “Rosephowitz.”
The Riverside girls v. boys soccer match was a tradition that took place three times a year, and the team that won two out of three — and some years, three out of three — received a trophy to add to the ever-growing lineup in the display case. It was meant to encourage friendly competition between the counterparts of the academy— yeah, right. As far as Dee was concerned, it was an excuse for her to declare a vendetta against all soccer-playing boys and still have support from her classmates.
So. She’d known Stephen by his last name for the past for years, and now here he was, in the flesh. It wasn’t like he embodied the entire team, but from the way Dee was sizing him up, you would’ve thought she had finally gotten to confront her arch-nemesis. There were two strikes against him, then— one, he played soccer; and two, he’d called her short. No one did that except for her friends, she thought furiously, and Stephen Rosephowitz embodied the exact opposite of a friend.

Romie, I’ve found the target for our next prank.

I nervously crossed my feet as I pretended to be admiring the painting behind Indie and the boys who were so abviously fighting over her. Even her short stature seemed to be dominating over the boys, looping them around her finger more and more with each word. My eyes clouded with envy and for a second, I wished that she hadn't come. My head instantly dropped in guilt, Indie was fairly nice, if a bit out-there.

"Hot chocolate." The barista hollered from the corner, the soft plunk of a cup on the counter immediately following the call. She turned to her friends who were still idling in the waiting space for their own drinks. I'm just gonna grab a seat,"she told them softly, motioning to the rest of the store. As she turned to face the store, though, she noticed not one empty table, just a few chairs laying around. her mind quickly rolled through a variety of solutions. Eat on the sidewalk outside, stand here, go all the way back to the dorms, or, eat with the group og guys that caught her eye earlier. She hesitantly strolled towards the table, pausing a few meters away, her drink clasped in front of her chest with both hands. Slowly, as if each step weighed a thousand pounds, she stopped at the table. "Uh," she said, her eyes squeezing shut with embarrasment. "Would you mind if me and my friends sit here?" She asked nervously, her breath catching. She motioned to the group of friends by the counter, all had a lingering smile on their face, probably laughing at her. idling in that position for a moment, her blushing face hidden from sight, before turning around. She tilted her head to one side slightly and a lopsided smile took place on her face as she tried to survey the boys without being to obvious.
