_____it was a good thing he loved long roadtrips, because driving in a huge bus for two hours where the only not-stranger was the french kid sitting next to you would be a little over-whelming otherwise. the entire trip consisted of a snoring roussel, an attempt at reading the safetly regulations posted on the seat before him, the constant checking of the time, and sleeping for twenty minutes. it was safe to say that he envied roussel and his ability to sleep two hours straight on a bumpy bus.

_____his blue eyes watched the oldstyle brick buildings of whistler pass by in an anxious manner. it was gorgeous here, but so much smaller than calgary. felix quickly turned to his sleeping friend, and shook his arm sternly. "hey, hey sleepy head. wake up." he made one attempt at trying to wake the french canadian before grabbing his coat, and slipping it over his arms that were already covered with a thing gray hoodie.

_____felix very skillfully pulled the hood of his hoodie up and over his head, and then zipped up his coat quickly. he knew it was going to be cold. it was january, and the only sunshine was the sunshine forcing itself through the gray clouds above. if he got lucky, it would snow today, and cover the slopes with fresh powder for their first day. felix let out a sigh. wishing wouldn't make it snow, but judging by the wind, and the clouds above... there certainly was a chance.

_____as felix got caught staring out the cold window of the bus, the sights slowed in passing, and the bus game to a slow stop. before them was the large brick built lodge that belonged to the academy. in the front above the neatly crafted glass doors was a banner, welcoming them. felix couldn't help but smile. it was finally happening. today was the day. he was here.

_____felix punched his friend harshly on the arm, and then grabbed his back pack, his very large suitcase, and the luggage that contained all of his gear. he wasn't waiting one more second on this bus, not even for roussel. maybe it was a little rude not to wait for his friend, but he couldn't contain his excitement any longer. he had been doing it ever since he got his acceptance letter, and at this point it hurt to hold it in.

_____the doors of the bus opened very quickly, allowing the boy to very quickly hustle out, and step foot on the cold cement path that lead to the doors of the school. now that he was out of the bus, he knew he had to wait for the others, so he took a step the side, and let out a sigh. he rolled his luggage behind him, and took a seat, whistling in the mean time. the doors of the school opened, and two young adults walked out. one male, and one female. they must have been the coaches.

roussel .

xxxxxfour a.m., that was the time roussel woke up this morning. yes, it was unnatural and wrong. but it was an absolutely neccesary thing to do, especially seeing that he had to get to montréal–pierre elliott trudeau international airport by five a.m. just so he could get to vancouver by two. it was a lot of travelling to do, but it was something roussel was accustomed to doing, especially in the summer and the winter. why? because in the summer he visited his dad who lived in toronto, and in the winter he traveled to calgary to compete and stay with his good friend, felix.

xxxxxonly eighteen, and roussel traveled around like some forty-three year old, married businessman. so yeah, it was quite easy for him to sleep on long adventures like he was now. he had a nice set up considering the circumstances. he had his backpack pack shoved between the seats, his hands ontop of the backpack, and his head ontop of his hands. his coat was already zipped up over a hoodie, one of his legs was bent with the foot tucked under the other, and his other leg was outstretched into the isle of the bus. it was quite an unusual sight, but in order to get comfortable in a seat designed for sitting up, roussel had to take drastic measures.

xxxxxwhen felix shook his arm, roussel let out a low groan that almost sounded like a growl. he lifted his hand up, and pulled his beanie over his eyes. yeah, that would show felix. at this point in the trip, roussel was willing to do anything to get a couple more minutes of shut-eye. when felix didn't touch him again in that amount of time, roussel was deeply satisfied--and then his best friend socked him right in the arm.

xxxxxwhen felix shook his arm, roussel let out a low groan that almost sounded like a growl. he lifted his hand up, and pulled his beanie over his eyes. yeah, that would show felix. at this point in the trip, roussel was willing to do anything to get a couple more minutes of shut-eye. when felix didn't touch him again in that amount of time, roussel was deeply satisfied--and then his best friend socked him right in the arm.

xxxxxin an instant, roussel sat up, and pulled his beanie up from his eyes. he let out a prolonged yawn, and rubbed his eyes with a closed fist. felix had already escaped, it figured. felix was never the guy to enjoy waiting. roussel let out a small laugh, and then grabbed his backpack, and his two luggage containers--one of witch was much taller than the other, it was obviously the one that held his snowboard along with the rest of his gear.

xxxxxhe took his time getting off the bus, seeing as he was still slightly drowsy. "merci." he yawned to the driver of the bus before stepping off the bus, seeing felix waiting. immediately, roussel brought his fist up, and slugged him directly in the arm. revenge. "hey there buddy." roussel smirked, and rubbed his hand on top of felix's hair, intentionally messing up his dark locks. "I'm starving." roussel said, placing a hand on his stomach. in a very casual manner, he pulled out his phone, seeing that he had several missed calls, and texts from one person, and one person alone; his mother. a good child would probably call his mother back, but roussel was exhausted, and slightly annoyed with how many times she hit call. "I swear, this woman cannot handle me being three hours away. she acts like I've gone to war, or something." he sighed loudly, and pushed his phone back into his pocket.

HOME IS WHEN IM
ALONE WITH YOU.

──────
“Bye, mom!” she grinned as she gave her final goodbye’s to her parents, accompanied
by warm hugs, slightly restricted by the large warm coat and scarf she wore to withhold
the warmth in her body. Her mother gave her a final kiss on her fore-head, as their
daughter stepped out of the house leaving the warmth and her parents behind her. It was
cold, the chill biting at her nose as she pulled her beanie over her ears, which were
growing redder the more seconds they were exposed to the nipping chill. A “burr,”
escaped her mouth with the visible breath, performing a dance in the winter’s air.
She examined her surroundings she grew up in, the menacing, brooding mountain
which slopes held her passion; to snowboard. It took a mere twenty minute walk to
arrive at her beloved destination, one she only saw in her greatest dreams. It was
windells academy. The anxiety that bubbled under the surface was overwhelmed with
excitement; the young girl from Whistler who aspired greatly, local to the academy
spent her days on these slopes, these very slopes, but not in these circumstances.
A fortnight ago she received the acceptance letter stating that she was going to the
academy of her dreams, one specialising in her greatest passion which was to
snowboard. Nothing in this world could compare to giddiness which kindled her
inner child, once hidden by the sophistication she gained from reading mounds of books.
Those years on the slopes paid off, in the greatest of terms. It was unusual for Piper to
become so excited, so childish, the most recently she was in this state was when she
received her very first snowboard, when she was six years old. When the small-town
snowboarder was a mere child, younger, much younger than she is now, she observed
those than glided down these powdery white slopes from the window in her bedroom.
Never once – although she definitely had dreamed, nevertheless – did she think she
would have achieved her goal. But, alas, it finally came true. Her heart pounded like
a drum, banging in her chest like it was an animal caged in bars, any second it seemed
like it would burst out. Her nervousness, however, only arrived when her ebullience did;
when the coach, filled with other teenagers, also excelling in the art of snowboarding,
trundled down the driveway, and came to a halt at the doors. Piper rose from sitting
precariously on her large silver suitcase, trying to seem poised and calm as
the first person, a dark haired lad, appeared from the door of the coach. Adjusting
her burgundy hat and brushing off her leggings, she painted a small, shy smile on her
face as he walked over to the exterior of the academy. Revealing her timidity once
again, her green eyes shifted downwards towards her uggs, speckled with tiny snowflakes
which she had kicked up from the short walk from the outside town where she resided.

“Hello,” she murmured, as the new snowboarders poured out of the confinements
of the bus. This, she thought, was going to be amazing. She finally was accepted into the
academy of her dreams.

It's pretty hard to imagine a snow boarder from a country that only gets natural snow in the mountains but every winter Olympics champions come from there. That was Rory's dream, to be one of the hard to imagine champions. Ever since she first went to the snow it was her dream. Neither one of her parents took her seriously at first thinking it was just one of those fads but she was more serious than they could ever imagine. They moved to a little town closer to the mountains and to a school that had a winter campus so she could compete and train while her parents forced her to still study.

When she first found out about this academy from her coach her parents weren't very eager for her to move half way around the world to snow board but realising it was her dream they let her apply. When she first went to get the mail that day her heart stopped, at the bottom of the pile was her acceptance letter. She still had it with her in her bag as a kind of good luck charm. Three days ago she had said goodbye to her parents and brothers before boarding the first plane of many. Leaving her home, Australia, behind wasn't as easy as she thought it would be and the jet lag had her like when ever she had come over for competitions previously.

She wasn't usually one to sleep during the day, she actually detested sleeping but the jet lag had finally caught up to her when she fell asleep on the bus. Getting onto the bus she ignored everyone around her not because she was being rude but because she hadn't managed to sleep at all the previous night. Heading to the back with her bags she found a seat by herself and instantly fell asleep.

A few jolts in the road had caused her to wake up every now and then but she had fallen back asleep, that was until she realised how close they were. Her phone vibrated in her pocket. Are you there yet? A text from Phoenix, her younger brother by two years, he had also loved to snow board but wasn't as adapt as herself. Her two older brothers that were still alive both loved Skiing and it had really annoyed her when their competitions had clashed making her mother take them half way around the world and her father taking her to the other. She texted back a quick almost before turning off her phone and stuffing it back into her pocket.

Smoothing back her braid she stood up as the bus stopped and a few others got off. Picking up her bags, a large duffel bag and one containing her snow board. Exiting the bus after a girl and two guys she noticed that she was taller than most of them but that wasn't surprising at her being almost 6ft and very tall for a girl. She slung her duffel over her shoulder and pulled her jacket tighter around her, no matter how much time she spent at the snow at home it was never as cold as over here.

Looking around she noticed a face, a guy that she recognised. It took her a few seconds to remember him from a competition last year. She could never remember names, one of her weaknesses, but remembered it started with an F, Finn? Fraser? She shook her head, none of them sounded right. She would find out pretty soon was his name was anyway.

xoxoxoastra sat in the bus impatiently, trying to find a comfortable sitting position. she couldn't wait to arrive at the lodge and finally get out of this godforsaken bus, the girl had been nauseous for the past two hours they have been on the road. unlike most, astra hated buses with every fibber of her body. she always got carsick. this is why the young snowboarder preferred flying. it would have been quick and most of all more pleasant. surely such a prestigious academy would be able to hire a plane. then again, who cares what their students think. astra turned her head, trying to figure out who else was traveling with her. all she could see were the two boys sitting behind them, one with black hair and a brunet and then a few girls in the back of the bus. she didn't know any of these people except skyler, who was sitting next to her. the two have been friends since seventh grade, when skyler pierce moved to asta's hometown colorado. sky was the one who initially got astra into snowboarding. the dark haired girl would have never started to snowboard if it wasn't for her. she had always been more of a skier, not going out of her comfort zone at all. even though the activity looked interesting. astra returned to her previous position, staring at the two magazines stored in the pocket on the back of the seat in front of her. "you excited?" she mumbled at her friend.
xoxoxo the bus came to a stop at last. astra peeked out of the window, all she could see was white. it was like heaven. it wasn't snowing at the moment, or at least it didn't look like it from the bus, but the forecast promised new powder by tonight. one thing astra was good as was powder, someone not getting stuck in the fresh snow came easily to the seventeen year old. astra waddled out of the bus, trying to find her snowboard and suitcase as the driver opened the compartments on the side of the vehicle. her skull-printed board was luckily one of the ones upfront, once the man slowly pulled it out, astra didn't hesitate and got her hands on it, it was her prized possession after all.
xoxoxoafter everyone got their luggage, the party of newcomers made their way to the lobby. two adults stood at the entrance, one male and one female. probably the coaches, astra thought to herself. they showed them to the seating area, where they could set down their heavy suitcases and other things they'd need for their stay at widelles academy for snowboarding.

xxxxxWas Bradley expecting the acceptance letter? No, not really. He was surely confident in himself though, and his snowboarding abilities. Ever since he was little he was in the snow. First by sledding and tubing, and then when he was old enough he began the real stuff. Snowboarding was something the boy was wholeheartedly serious about. Everyone from his hometown of Bend, Oregon, knew that much. Once the letter did arrive, there was practically no time for the boy to do anything else but pack. Being so far away, he had an early flight to catch in order to arrive at around the same time that the others did. The plane ride was decent, though he knew the bus ride was the part to dread. Still, it was worth it.

xxxxxThe sandy haired brunette had been right about the bus being a bit of a pain. With so many bumps and sharp turns in the road, it was hard for him to catch a good nap. While he wasn't doing so, he was observing the others around him. A few were also napping, or at least trying to. Others were chatting among themselves, probably introducing each other. Something he probably should have been doing, but Brad ended up going against it. He could do it when they arrived. Besides, the bus ride was giving him a headache - and he wasn't a very delightful person in that state of mind. The only person he managed to speak to was the kid sitting behind him. Heyden. At one point Bradley had accidentally dropped his water bottle, the guy saving it before it rolled all the way to the back of the vehicle. They'd chatted a bit, Heyden was a pretty funny guy - and quite the charmer too. Brad just wasn't too sure what to do about him yet. Perhaps they could end up friends, or something like that.

xxxxxIt seemed like forever, the trip to the academy, but upon pulling up to it - all the annoyance of it washed away. This was the real deal. This was where the best of the best went for training, and he was one of them. Like lightning, Bradley was quick to grab his luggage and rush off the bus. Once inside, the eighteen year old took advantage of the offerings. Hot chocolate was one of his favorite things, plus, who doesn't like freebies? "Mmmm, nothing like hot chocolate after a terribly long bus ride." Brad spoke to Heyden in a rather sarcastic matter. Apparently they all had to sit through some orientation before they could take their luggage to their rooms. Oh, rooms, right. After a moment of glancing at the list he found his name. Next to the name Astra. Call him stupid, but he was pretty sure that he was rooming with a girl. Not that it was a bad thing. Actually, it was probably a great thing - but depending on how she was determined just how they'd get along. If they got along. Bradley was known to be fairly picky with his friends and significant others, mostly because he didn't deal with idiots who weren't mature enough to actually act their age.

Claire Walters - post 1.

Postby europa, » Sat Apr 19, 2014 10:54 pm

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
    THE NEW SNOWBOARDER,CLAIRE
location; outside the academy. tagged; Brad, Heyden. feeling; excited, nervous.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Small snowflakes danced from the sky, in their intricate twirls and patterns. The sky was now far from the usual blue and instead a pastel grey, freckled with white where the sun tried to shine through. It reminded the young snowboarder of a painter's vision of beauty. And well, the landscape lived up to it's reputation. Claire knew they were now in the mountains of Canada, that much was for certain. And trying to keep the large waves of excitement from making her do something stupid, Claire eventually turned her gaze away from the landscape and leant back into the seat - trying her best to ignore just how long they had been stuck here. In simple terms, Claire found that she oddly didn't mind the traveling and for this she was grateful as Claire now didn't want to miss the smallest thing. The blonde haired woman knew of course that it would take some time on getting used to the cold weather. After all, this was no longer New York but she was up for the challenge! If the academy had chosen her, than she would have to
prove that it was right decision.

Looking around the coach, most people were now either asleep or getting restless and smiling lightly, Claire just couldn't believe that she had been accepted into the academy among these people. For example, Bradley Callaghan, one of her closest friends was in her eyes breathtakingly talented at snowboarding! And never could she have imagined herself going to the same academy as him. But here she was and well, feeling insanely excited. Claire knew that it would be a great experience for them both and she would back Bradley all the way - that's what friends are for after all! And leaning forwards every so often to ask how we was, or simply to torment him, her bright blue eyes were slowly becoming more alive with excitement and curiosity; just how would they get on in this new place? Claire knew that it might be difficult, seeming that she only really knew Bradley from past competitions in America. And not knowing what anyone else at the academy would be like, made her tense. The last thing she wanted was not to fit in.

Sat on the seat behind Bradley however, even from the first hour of the journey had she met some one new. His name was Heyden and she could see the predicament in Bradley's eyes of whether to see him as a friend. One the other hand, they all spoke well together and for the first time (in a long time) Claire actually felt included, laughing and giggling at sarcastic remarks every so often. Sat next to Heyden besides Bradley, he was the main person she talked to but when the coach stopped and Bradley darted off, the quickest she'd ever seen him, Claire rolled her eyes and stood up,beckoning Heyden to follow with a wide smile." And that, is Bradley as his best. You'll never see him move so fast again!" Laughing softly she made her way down the coach, turning her head back a bit so that she could speak to him again. "But we better move fast if we ever going to find him." Waiting until the people in front of her had left the bus, she quickly got followed and shivered slightly at the sudden coldness as she zipped up her coat. " Oh, cold sweet cold" she muttered.

Getting her luggage and waiting for Heyden in the process, as she waited her eyes shifted over the waiting area. Indeed she was right. There were many friendship groups and also, many people. As the cold breeze wafted her hair about, it was then she spotted a group of three, two boys and one girl. She recognized them as being the Canadian, and French people that were sat on the opposite side of the coach. From instinct, she had the feeling that they were going to be the top, the best or so called best and averting her gaze quickly it was at that point she saw Bradley behind the group. Grinning she quickly made her way over, smiling to the group softly as she did so, her eyes hovering over (felix) for a moment but hopping to Bradley's side, she places her hands on his shoulders and peers over, looking to the sheet of paper; the dorm arrangements. Seeing who Bradley was with, she laughed before then stepping to one side and holding her luggage again with a devious smile. " Get you, Bradley! Looks like you`re paired with girl" she raises her eyebrows playfully. " As for me it's Piper! " She smiled happily before then glancing to the group of three again. She had to admit that something was drawing her attention but ignoring that, she shakes her head at Bradley's remark about hot chocolate and then turns to Heyden." What about you, who are you paired with?" she asks.

Walking inside with the rest of the nine other snow boarders. She noticed that most were laughing or joking around together while she hung at the back. They all seemed to know each other from some place or the other, while she recognised a few faces from competitions that was the most she knew about them, no names came back though they never did, she had a habit of remembering faces but forgetting names. Unless there was something important about them she would instantly forget their names especially if it would interfere with her concentration before a competition and who would want to remember a heap of random people she would probably never see again.

Fate, however, had proven her wrong, she was now going to be at the same academy as them, she was at the same academy as them. Half way around the world from her home, a days flight three days ago, she stifled a yawn. Hopefully she could get a good nights sleep tonight, it would probably be one of the most important sleeps. She walked over, mug of hot chocolate in hand, to wear the others were standing looking at what seemed to be a list of rooms. Looking around the head of a boy that was slightly taller than her she noticed that a guy seemed to be partners with a girl.

Shaking her head she scanned the list and found her name, she was partners with someone called Skylar. Didn't recognised the name but she wouldn't be surprised if she had competed with her before. Listening she noticed that most voices sounded like that off the TV shows from home, American. There was a few French-Canadians but she noted that she was the only person, accent-wise, from outside of North America.

Stepping back to where she had dumped her luggage she pulled out her phone. Turning it back on she wasn't surprised to see a few texts; one from her mum asking how the drive was, a simple reply of good sufficed; Tom, her eldest brother asking if she had seen the slops yet, another one word answer of no; Phoenix wishing her good luck; and finally one from Lilly, her best friend back home saying that she already missed her and making her promise to stay in contact, the same message that she had already received fifteen times in text alone, not counting verbal.

heyden was still fighting over the concept that he had just slept for eight hours, on a bus, without even hearing one word his new friends, brad and claire, were saying. he almost thought he was dreaming when he woke up, because he couldn't believe he had actually been accepted into one of the top snowboarding schools/camps in the country. heyden rested his hand on his palm lightly as his eyes slowly drooped open, before yawning and coughing at the same time, shaking his head. he had always been a heavy sleeper before, and that hadn't changed at all. rubbing his eyes slowly, he smiled as his eyes focused on brad and claire. they were friends he had talked to on the way there, that was, before he had dozed off halfway. yawning again, he blinked as brad zoomed off the bus in a surprised, and shared a laugh with claire before helping her get her stuff and getting his own things as well. when claire spoke, he couldn't help but let out another laugh before fixing his beanie as they waited for everyone else to get off. "im pretty sure i won't be able to catch up with either of you, i swear i packed our whole house into two bags." a few people got in front of him and seperated him from claire, but he managed to catch up to her as he jumped off the bus, almost slipping on the ice before he caught himself and fixed his beanie, thankful he wore gloves.

they finally made it up to bradley, and when he noticed he had hot chocolate heyden grinned, the same sarcastic manner reflecting in his eyes. "oh that's so great, my friend. im so proud of you." and with that, heyden lifted his glove, that had caught a few snowflakes that fell from the sky, and ruffled bradley's hair, smirking before laughing a bit and walking over to recieve his cabinroom partners. he had secretly hoped he would have a girl as a roommate, being the big flirt that he was, and he silently hoped he would get a decently pretty one. he read over the name before sighing. he was another guy, but hey, he couldn't complain. things would turn out to be pretty fun. returning back to his friends, he slumped over a chair and sat down before rubbing his temples. "karma really is a pain in the butt." he murmured before his lips curved into a smile as he shoved the paper into his pocket. he was going to try to make new friends here, at least try and make more guys than girls was what his mum said, before he had to come home. excitement bubbled inside of him as he managed to grin before walking over to look at who bradley got. astra. cool name for a girl, and instead he backed up to see what claire was looking at. he was fairly the same height as bradley, and a little bit taller than claire. they were both one of a kind people, and he liked that about them.

"roussel. i wonder who this guy is." he shrugged it off but instead took off his gloves and shoved them into one of the bags. it was fairly warm, especially since he was wearing a coat and things for so long. taking off his beanie and shaking his hair out silently, he swiped it back before putting his black hat on again. "you two are so lucky you got partnered with girls. i was hoping i could make my move out here." he did a silent jazz hand to them, before smirking and shrugging it off. "but i'll live. i totally feel bad for roussel though, he has to deal with the man who won the 'loudest snorer' award." heyden was always a bit louder than most people, but not by a lot. he wasn't bipolar or anything, just a bit different than most. he sighed before shoving his hands in his pockets and looking around quietly, trying not to let his eyes wonder off before looking at his friends again. he was so glad someone included him in a group, and he tried his best not to make himself sound stupid in front of them, in case they kicked him out or something like that. "so what do you guys want to do now?" he murmured quietly, his blue eyes flashing with a hint of excitement.

_____felix let out a loud grunt when his friend's closed fist met his arm. the kids could punch, maybe a little too fiercely. felix slowly stood up, and rubbed his arm. "jesus, you didn't have to try to remove my arm." he shook his head, and fixed his long black hair under his hood. he looked at the girl who had walked out of the bus. she was tall, very tall. but she also looked very familiar. felix was great at names, so the second he saw her, the words flooded his throat, and spilled from his lips. "aurora." he said mostly to himself, but loud enough for anyone near to hear. he looked over to the other girl, she must've walked. "hi." he said calmly.

_____in a few seconds, roussel and felix were the only ones sitting around, waiting. but they weren't waiting for anything, and felix's ears were cold, so he began walking towards the building, urging roussel to follow with his head. "she's scared because you're no longer in the french speaking part of canada, and knowing you, you're going to abuse that power," felix laughed. and then looked around at the people looking at him. but more specifically, he looked at a girl (claire).

_____while he still had he gaze, he smiled a charming smile with tired eyes, and straight teeth. when she turned away, it was felix's natural instinct to look over at his friend. "what do you think?" he smiled just a bit, elbowing his friend in the ribs in the process

_____he slowly came to a hault when he found the piece of paper everyone was looking at. austin. austin was his roommate, he figures austin wasn't here in the lobby yet seeing as felix didn't hear his name anywhere, but felix could hear roussel's name. felix almost felt bad for anyone who had to room with the french-canadian. he was loud, stayed up way too late, got up way too early, and often times didn't respect anyone's privacy because 'friends didn't hide things'. felix, of course, loved the guy. but he could be quite the handful at times.

_____felix grabbed two cups of hot chocolate, one for him, and one for roussel. "I got austin." felix brought the cup to his lips, and sipped. it was nice to finally have something in his stomach, especially something that consisted of chocolate, and deliciousness. ah, this was the life.

_____the coaches began to gather, their eyes scoping out the fresh meat. they had papers in their hands, and aspiration in their eyes. "if everyone could please take a seat in the seats we've provided, and give us your attention, please." the woman said, she had a soothing voice. it reminded him of honey. "we'll be assigning your teams, and telling you the basics here shortly, get comfortable." the man said, his voice calm but slightly rugged.
