CARRESSA.♘ ☇ twenty-four years. human. single.
Carressa calmly sat in her tent, her tent flaps wide open to keep an eye on everyone. Her long knives and throwing knives already strapped to her. Though she was also playing with her knives. She had always had a fascination with knives, which caused her to choose them as her weapon against the demons. She played with her butterfly knife, doing skilled tricks for the fun of it. She hardly used this knife as a weapon, mostly just personal use as it was her favorite. Out of the corner of the eye she saw a figure walk passed and not long after there was another. She glanced up at the last second to see that Blythe was the second one to pass her tent. She finally chose to peek out and noticed that everyone was getting food. She figured she might as well get some too, reminding her when her stomach growled loudly. She stood up, did some short stretches and followed Blythe to get some food. “Morning.”

✖ ✖ ✖ ✖ Elliot████████████████████████████████████████████████████████Elliot had been awake for some time now. He spent most of the morning staring at the cracked wall deep in thought. When he heard movement from behind him, he glanced over his shoulder, watching Tess go get some food. Without a single expression on his face, Elliot turned away again and resumed his boring activity. He was not bored, though, far from it. He was musing. Thinking about life and death; speculating if there actually was a God.
Elliot was born into a Christian family. Although his two sisters did not practice this religion consistently, his mother and father were serious about it. As a family, they participated in all the traditions. The older Elliot got, however, the less he believed in “God”. After all, how could people serve and worship a man (or creature, maybe?) that no one could see? Before long, he became atheist. In result, his mother and father kicked him out of the house and refused to speak to him. So, he lived with his friend in anticipation of graduating from high school. Once he did, Elliot moved again and went into the medical field of study. He was poor, struggling to pay his tuition with the pay from his job at a fast food restaurant. Finally, he could no longer manage to keep his house and car, so he moved in with his younger sister. The dream of still being in the medical field beckoned him. In his job, he was finally promoted to manager of the store. With his sister’s support and steady income, he was able to go back and finish the required school to become an emergency room doctor. He quit his job and started his career after what seemed like forever.
But the feeling was always in the back of his brain… People would be rushed in, some so close to death that they were not on earth anymore, and under their tattered shirts would be a well-worn cross. A symbol of their faith. It irritated Elliot, because he did not understand. How could these people practice such devotion when, in the end of it all, the “creator” killed them? Were they afraid of death, of afterlife, of hell? Elliot had no answers, so, for the longest time, he ignored religion completely.
That is, until now.
Life nowadays was like “hell” on earth. Elliot lost his job after hospitals folded. The crime rates were up and life expectancy was way down. Streets were a mess. A person’s daily routine was to go from work (if they had any) to home (if they had one) and keep their head down. The society was blatantly terrible; greedy, rude, and inconsiderate. When he heard about the “holy trinity”, Elliot was eager to see an angel. Deep in his heart, he was guilty. If there was a God, would he be saved and sent to a “heaven” after all or would he be punished for his lack of commitment and sent to “hell”? It genuinely bothered him. Fervent to see an angel, and prove his doubts wrong, Elliot joined a team of rag-tag people to protect these guardians from demons. And, for the first time, he prayed to God that everything would be Okay.
