looking around the room she would be staying in for the next month or so, henley raked her fingers through her brunette hair. she still had about three hours before she would need to leave for the masquerade, so she had yet to begin her hair or makeup, but she had already taken her shower. for about the millionth time that hour, she wondered again why she thought that this would be any better than being at home with her abusive father, and she also scolded herself for even thinking she would get picked. sighing softly, she wandered to her huge bathroom and turned on her curling iron before searching her suitcases for her makeup. reemerging with her bag of makeup, she spread it out on the counter and applied each bit of it meticulously, wanting to look good for the ball. putting the finishing touches on her feathery yet mysterious makeup, henley turned to her curling iron, twisting a fair amount of her hair up onto her head, and beginning to curl the rest. she continued to let more down and curl it until she was satisfied with the semi-curled look. with a slight movement of her hands, she fluffed her hair slightly before adding in a big pin to hold some of it out of her eyes. smiling into the mirror, she actually felt pretty, almost as if someone else was looking back at her. normally not wearing makeup as it was too much work, she wasn't used to the look of it on her skin, but once it was on, she loved the glow it gave her eyes and mouth.
slipping from the bathroom, henley walked to her closet, pulling out the dress she would be wearing that night smiling at it fondly. it was rather simple, a grey color that darkened ever so slightly as it near the bottom. it came was a floor length dress that dragged a little bit on the ground, perfect to hide the teal converse she would wear with it. she had a feeling that most of the girls tonight would be wearing fancy elaborate dresses to impress the princes, but she felt that her simple dress reflected her personality more. the brunette cautiously slid into her dress, and shoved her converse on her feet. she walked over to her full length mirror, and was truly impressed. the girl in the mirror looked so mature, so put together, when in reality she was exactly the opposite. waiting impatiently, the girl stood by the door watching the clock and the sunset, awaiting the clock to read seven fifty so that she could leave. though she wasn't super excited about the ball, she still liked a good party, and she truly needed something to do. realizing that it was in fact a masquerade, she scurried quickly back to her room and grabbed her intricate teal mask, securing it tightly to her face, and glancing in the mirror once more before returning back to the door.
( sorry, had some unexpected plans, but it's started, yay! anyways they can either be arriving to the ball, getting ready, or anything in between those. but within like 2-3 posts, they should have arrived at the ball. c: )
