Reese turned the corner onto the street of her school. She stopped and stared up at the building
distastefully. Sighing she weighed her options of actually going in, or ditching. It was tempting,
really but Reese decided to take her chances. Shaking her auburn hair, Reese trudged up to the
building and came up to the front doors. Wrenching them open she stepped inside, scrunching her
nose up at fact that she was now inside the horrible place. Turning to her left, Reese peered
down the halls with a frown. She walked down the hall and turned the corner, "is anyone here?" she
yelled impatiently. Huffing, Reese turned back the way she came and pushed open the doors to the
school. Hopping down the steps she landed on the ground and looked out into the parking lot, " what
to do.."
she sighed to herself. Well, she was hungry and it wasn't helping her just standing there.
Reese made her way over to her motorcycle and got on. Starting it up she glanced once more at the
school before driving off. Reese tapped her fingers against the handle bar as she drove into town.

    J A C K ----> t a g g e d ; micah

Jack watched helplessly as Micah got out of the car and walked over to Jack's little Volkswagon. Micah sat down in the passenger's seat before Jack could say anything. Jack sighed and shook his head.

"I hope you know we aren't going anywhere before I figure out how you crashed into nothing," Jack called out to Micah in his clear, British accent. He hadn't lost it when he moved to America and it took over his voice a lot. His American accent wasn't something he was too proud of.

Jack walked over to the side of the hood of the Camaro cautiously. It had crashed into something... It had to. The car was too messed up to have been driven any more...

Jack moved forward to the front of the car, but before he could he ran into something solid. Very solid. Jack turned his head to see what it was, but there was nothing there. He could feel it, however...

Then Jack realized that when he looked at anything further down the road, it was a bit... Blurry, and off colored. He put his hand forward and felt that same solidity. What was there? Jack moved over to the left, his hand still on the transparent solid... thing... It kept going. How long was it?

Jack started running, His hand on the object at question. He ran for about a minute until he was out of breath. Whatever this solid thing was, it was tall and very wide. A plastic, see-through wall? Why would they put that there? Jack shook his head and walked back to his car. He sat down in the driver's seat and put the keys in ignition, his mind racing. What was it? How did it get there? There wasn't anything in the middle of the road yesterday...

Jack glanced at Micah sitting in the passenger seat, then turned the keys and started the car. He turned it around and they started on the road back, Jack's mind racing with possibilities.

location: heading to town;; mood: watchful;; tagged: no one;; ooc: sorry for the long post.

Florida scenery that cascaded down the Coates Academy entrance fell away from Mar's view like burning bits of paper. He glanced at the rear view mirror, watching in a gentle tumble as the large building began to shrink and shrink. Scarlet was smart enough; she'd find a way get out, get back to her dearly beloved Drew, be that faithful witch that constantly hung onto him for orders.

Unlike Scarlet -- and although he did take orders from Drew -- he didn't always have to obey them. That was the long, silent agreement that constantly hung over Drew and Mars: there wasn't ever an always obeyed command, an always being in the brotherhood. Most unlikely than not, they both knew there was a time coming, when Mars would eventually see the chance. And that was what Mars intended to find. A chance.

He looked away, clenching his jaw. Coates was behind him now, and what stretched out before him like a roaring sea was the unknown. He turned a corner, direction himself to town. That was where he was supposed to go. His dark eyes shot to the glove department, where he reached over and took out a pistol that he tucked into the back of his jeans.

Maybe there was a chance, a chance left within Mars to find a way out of this madness. Not that it bothered him, anyway. Everybody was gone. What bothered him was the feeling of Drew in power, and he didn't sit well with that; with two shots, it would be over for the boy and the redhead. He stared ahead as he traveled down the road that would eventually lead him to Worther Beach.

Micah sat back and kicked up his legs, sighing with utter relief as the painful wound diminished in intensity. He blew out a breath and closed his eyes against the warm heat on his face. Irritably, he swatted at a buzzing fly. "Don't wear yourself out, kiddo," he muttered. He peeked open an eye, watching as the devastated Jack ran back and forth. "It's a barrier. Solid." He smiled, scornfully. "Can't get through it, Travelin' Jack." He had already figured that out when he had awoken, moments before Jack had arrived. He hadn't attempted to get out, but just looking at the vast sheet of invisibility, one would only gather it was indestructible.

But even so, it was slightly amusing to watch the boy run back and forth, something of an animal being hounded. His knuckles rippled. Micah stared a second before clenching his jaw and focusing on the make shift bandage. It was bleeding through. "Come on!" Micah yelled impatiently. He reached over, cursing as he did, and honked the horn for emphasis. "I can't help but indict that there maybe a horrendous possibility that you're wanting me to bleed out! C'mon, let's move it, Kid!"

Finally, when the bewildered and utterly puzzled Jack did return, it wasn't what Micah had imagined. "Can't get through it, can you?" He asked dryly. The car rumbled back to life, and Micah hesitantly touched the bloodied bandage and winced.

Hannah-Nora had learned to believe it was because of her racial background; the fact that she was half-Jamaican and half-Indian. She hadn't been fond of that, of asking why the other kids tormented her on her accent and skin color. She had been bullied, and when it came to that little girl's birthday, she asked for one thing: a heat seeking missile. Now, obviously, any parent would be deeply concerned. But Hannah-Nora's parents, already thrown over the brink by requests of going to teenager's parties or Hulk Hands to beat the living heck out of some ole grandma who said she looked adorable, were readied for their daughter's future: a second degree murder was their best guess. But even so, Hannah-Nora had not been granted her wish of blowing up the world. No, that would be left for another day, for the government to deal with. They had been through enough as it was.

She was rolling around on her Hello Kitty skate board -- obviously punked out with magic marker, given multiple tattoos and piercings, not to mention an Nirvana t-shirt -- when she caught sight of Quinn. The four foot girl hesitated, sizing the boy up. She ran a hand over her recent self-given buzz cut, to her parent's dismay. "Hey, man!" She called, her shrill Jamaican accent ringing out above the trees. "The guy with da smashed face? Ya know 'bout feetin' boas?" She gave her most charming grin, something the devil could only pull off, and headed toward the older boy.

male seventeen sterling augmentation; the ability to strengthen and weaken others powers

im crazy love Killian parked in the back of the hotel and turned the engine off with a simply twist of the key. He was silent towards her and then spoke as they walked up the stairs. "I'm taking a shower first." He paused and scoffed. "Hopefully the water still works." They arrived to a better room then all the others and found it fully stocked with towels and everything else. There was only one bed. "If you want you can have the bed. I'll sleep on the floor." He offered and shrugged as he closed the bathroom door and turned the shower nob. It worked, thankfully. He undressed and got in, loving the warm water washing all the sweat away and blood for that fact. He finished and came out with just a towel around his waist. Killian chuckled. "I'm going to find different clothes." He walked out of the room and down the hallway.

She went to grab some extra clothes from a room which had someone staying in it before the poof. She snatched the bag which must have belonged to a young woman. Inside were all sorts of clothes, prushes and toletries that would make her stay much more comfortable. She returned to the room just in time to see Killian leave the bathroom in nothing but a towel. She stopped, startled, and moved quickly around him. "There is a room next door with the door open. It has clothes for you inside. There is a suitcase on the bed in there." She went into the steamy bathroom and took her own shower, drying off and slipping into her new clothes. Loose cotton sweatpants and a long sleeve tee. They weren't as glamorous as her leather leggings and red blouse, but they were comfortable.

    J A C K t a g g e d ----> micah

Jack chose to ignore Micah's comment as he drove down the road. How did it get there? Jack's head couldn't figure this out. As Jack's mind raced to fathom this concept of a random, giant, invisible wall appearing between that morning when he went to school and his recent endeavors with Micah, his driving slowly became more aggressive. While there weren't that many people on the road, just a lot of abandoned cars, Jack began to grow annoyed of the random cars strewn about. Why did people have to just poof away? That made no sense either. And when something makes no sense, Jack gets irritable.

At a particular part in the road where there was barely enough space for Jack to dodge two annoying place cars on both sides of the road, Jack honked his horn at nothing and slammed on the brakes. This was just ridiculous. Jack took a deep breath, shook his head then turned to Micah.

"Where is it you wish to go?" Jack asked, releasing most of the pent up breath into the first word. Impossible things made Jack's irritability practically tangible. It was radiating off him in wavelengths. Two impossible things: that wall and all the adults disappearing into thin air. It was like someone had floated above the school with a ray gun and vaporized them all with a maniacal laugh. Jack pushed the thought out of his mind and focused on Micah.

Scarlet barely glanced at Anastasie, being so focused on the new girl, before shrugging. "Let me keep Mars' for a minute." It wasn't a request, it was a statement. What Scarlet wanted was what Scarlet got. "But here, go ahead and take yours." She moved her hand along the files spread out like a deck of cards, and eventually found Anastasie's. "Here. Go crazy."

xxxPromptly losing interest in both girls, Scarlet leaned back in the leather chair, crossing her ankles on the desk, and started examining Mars' file. As she got further down the page, her eyes got brighter and her grin got bigger. This was golden. She didn't know why Mars hadn't shared the small tidbit of information that he had apparently killed his father (on the page it noted it was 'accidental', but Scarlet didn't believe that for one second) then been sent to a prison of sorts for it. She actually let out a laugh of glee and ripped the page containing his background out. She had a plan, a plan that ended up with Mars horribly humiliated- if everything went the way she hoped it would.

She tossed the file at Anastasie. "I'm keeping this one." She folded the sheet carefully and put it in her own file, sliding it carefully between the pages. She uncrossed her ankles and stood up in one graceful motion, gathering up the files and holding them to her chest. "Does anyone want to come down to town with me? I should really get back to Drew." She asked the room in general, though her gaze flickered between the two girls. She performed the loyal subordinate front so well. It was hilarious, really. As if to give meaning to her words, she made her way towards the door of the office, turning to look over her shoulder at them. "Once I leave, I'm probably not coming back, so take it or leave it." She shrugged one shoulder. Truth was, she really couldn't care less what happened to the two girls. They were less than friends. Not even allies, not really.

Quinn sat down on the concrete wall, spreading his legs out in front of him. He wasn't as worn out as he could have been- being on all of Coates' sports teams had it's upsides- but he was still tired after the long walk. The shrill voice that came a few seconds later did nothing to lift his mood. He looked up, saw the kid from earlier heading towards him, and groaned. He didn't particularly want a conversation with a kid at the moment- he had to work everything out- but he supposed he had to act nice, in case anyone who actually mattered came along.

xxxHe brought his hands away from his face and forced a grin onto it, looking the kid up and down. "Naw, I'm not scratched-up. These are battle scars." Quinn, being six foot, almost had to look down at the girl even as he was sitting on the wall. "What age are ye, anyway? Nine?" He scratched behind his neck, trying to hide his amusement. Already he could tell this kid was a force to be reckoned with- the haircut, for one, and the grin on her face was... mildly terrifying, to say the least. He ran a hand through his hair and looked around, moving quickly onto his next question without waiting for an answer.

"Acshully, never min' that, do ye know what's goin' on? Like, I was jus' after eatin' in the canteen, righ'? And then I look around and half of the lads had gone, poof, righ'? Am..." Quinn got distracted by a tear in his school trousers, just above the knee, and spent a few seconds picking at it with his fingernails before getting back on track. "Amm, anyway, have ye seen Drew about? Tall, scary, sort o' looks a wee bit powerful? Or insane, like, if you thin' of it like that..." Quinn finally paused to take a breath. Being in America for two years did nothing to soften his Irish accent, and he often talked like he couldn't get words out quick enough.

Anastasie shrugged, and said, I'll come. What about you, Shay? I certainly don't want to be left here alone. I was already alone for a couple hours before this, so I want to stay with you. Plus, you probably know your way around this town. If I go, though. I need to take a detour. To my house. I left something valuable there. Anastasie thought about her brother, what he would be doing there, since their parents had probably disappeared too. She walked to the door, file in one hand, machete in the other. She opened it, and kept it open, so the others could walk out. Come on, slow pokes. Or I will close this door, and go myself. I am pretty sure you would want to see this valuable item. Actually, it is not just one. It is a lot. Anastasie slid a smirk, to indicate that it really was valuable.

The sun was hot, pounding down on the sleek concrete of the skatepark. Off to the side a boy sat on the edge of a quarter-pipe watching two of his friends play a game of skate. The two were brother and sister, Mark and Shantel, Mark being the younger of the two at eighteen. Their skateboards clattered on the pavement, and their laughter and swearing filled the air as their competition intensified. A small grin played across the boy’s face. The rules of the game of skate were simple. One person would do a trick and everyone else had to copy the trick, if they succeeded they got a letter until they spelled the word ‘skate’. So far Mark was winning.
The dark haired boy leaned forwards on the edge of the quarter-pipe, watching Mark wind up for a trick. The older boy sped towards the rail, lifting up, he and his board soared into the air and just like that he was gone. His skateboard clattered lifelessly to the ground, clanging loudly against the rail that had been intended to be used for a grind. “What?” The lanky boy scrubbed at his eyes furiously. “What!?” Shantel was gone too, her skateboard rolling off the pavement and stopping in the rocks that bordered the park. He sat in stunned silence, staring at the space his friends had just been occupying. There was no way, people didn’t just vanish. That was crazy! Preposterous!
He slung his jacket over his Pearl Jam t-shirt, not bothering to zip it up. His skateboard hit the pavement and he was on top of it in one fluid movement, pushing hard with his right foot to propel himself forward. He left the abandoned skateboards behind, following the small sidewalk that led to the park until he hit the pavement of the streets. Everything seemed like it was straight out of some horror movie, cars crashed into the sides of building, kids pulling themselves from the wreckage. A sharp energy was starting to hum through him, but he blamed it on the adrenaline coursing through him, not yet aware of the true cause.
There were things that he couldn’t even fully comprehend, a girl suspending water in the air, another kid lifting a car off of a young boy, another girl who was there one moment and gone the next. What the hell was going on!? Too busy focused on the things going on around him he didn’t see the rock until it was too late. His wheel caught and dug and he and his entire skateboard flipped head over heels into a steel street light. The humming energy that was still flowing through him seemed to divert from him into the steel and light overhead flickered to life before exploding and raining glass down on him.
Now he was really starting to panic. He hadn’t done that, had he? No, there was no way. He picked himself up, wincing as he sliced open his hand on the glass but he was off again. Already that hum coursing through his body again. His breath was starting to come in shallow gasps and he really needed a smoke. It was a horrible habit, but he couldn’t quit. He pulled one from his pocket, lighting the cigarette and taking a heavy drag, being careful not to trip over anymore rocks.
It wasn’t too long before he saw them, a little girl with a teenage looking boy. The girl seemed useless, but the boy he might know what was going on. “Hey! Hey you!” He called out, his voice was slightly raspy and more than a little dreamy sounding to a young girl *wink, wink*. “Do you know what’s going on here?” The tall boy skidded to a halt, taking a last puff off of his smoke before stomping on the butt. “Please for the love of Talos tell me this is a crazy dream, I just saw a seven year old lift up a car like it was nothing!” His dark eyes were wide and concerned, no longer panicked as his smoke had helped calm him down, but even so that hum still flowed through him and he was convinced this was just a dream.

The anger was obvious in the boy and it practically seemed to spark off of him as another body slammed into his, making him stumble forwards a few steps. Metal music still blasted through his head phones and he couldn’t make out what the other guy was saying, but his face deepened into a vicious scowl and his hands balled into fists. That was the reason he was going to this stupid school. His anger management problem and his tendency to beat senseless first, ask questions later.
The other boy was still waving and gesturing and his lips still moved and Adam begrudgingly yanked one headphone out just in time to catch the words. “I got a car out back if they still held it for me.” He watched through shaded eyes as the other guy sauntered off. He loathed the thought of getting stuck with some random person, but a lift to town would be cool, he was keen on walking the whole way and it had been a long time since he’d hotwired a car. Besides, Drew and his squad seemed to have swooped in and stolen any available vehicles anyways.
Teeth grinding together and hissing curse words under his breath he crammed his earphone back in and stalked angrily after the other boy, boots thudding the ground. He found the vehicle alright and jerked the door open, nearly ripping the handle right off, and clambered into the front seat. He didn’t bother to throw a seatbelt on and sat in stony silence, studiously ignoring the other boy and only paying attention to the music flowing through his ears. This day wasn’t going to get any better.

OH AND I’VE HEARD
YOU GOT IT,
GOT IT
SO BAD

'CAUSE I AM THE
BEST YOU’LL
NEVER HAVE

miss missing you; fall out boy

Quinn turned his amused stare from the smaller girl as he heard someone else surprisingly enter the conversation. He rolled his shoulders forward, holding his hand above his eyes to block the sun as he tried to get a look at the newcomer. Thank God, he seemed somewhat close to his age, and he was talking sense. And he didn't call him 'scratched-up face', so that was an improvement.

xxxPleased to be able to avoid talking to the grinning nine year old- he was assuming she was nine- he stood up and looked the boy up and down, now that he was closer. "Mate, calm down, aye?" Come to think of it, he would take the nine year old over this seemingly hysterical teenager. "We don't know anymore than you do- wait, wait, wait, hold up." He held up his hand, index finger in the air, as if trying to hold back the boy's words physically. He frowned, as he thought through what the boy had said- a seven year old had lifted a truck up? What the hell? Quinn did what he always did when dealing with things out of his depth- he made a really terrible joke. "Mus'have been some strong seven year ol', aye? All I know is all tha adults up at the school there," he jerked his head towards the hill he'd just descended, "have gone. All tha teachers, staff, like."

Looking down at the eleven year old again, his gaze flickered back up to the new boy. "Wha's your name, anyway? I'm Quinn Baker, from Coates up the hill there," he went to offer his hand, then thought better of it. The boy looked like he might stab him or something, or burn him with his cigarette, at least. This was the most bizarre situation he'd ever been in, and that made him chuckle a little.
