--Rune--Tagged: Fabian--Rune continued leading the way, the smirk still stuck to her lips. By the time they were outside of the mucky and abandoned house, the feelings of bitterness and anger were mere touches in her mind. She was still thinking of Avis's sly way of making her realize she wanted that necklace, but she also got the feeling that somehow, on a strange and not so relevant level, he did care about her. And it was nice to know that at least someone cares a bit about her, since she was once again alone in the world. With Frey, she had someone who looked over her and had her well being as the first thing in his mind, but now that the old man was gone, she could only rely on herself and the occasional follower. Fabian managed to earn a better title than a simple 'acquaintance' to her. He was her friend now, with true rights on it. As she still plucked and sorted her thoughts, the woman led her comrade out of the garden and got rid of the now useless candle. They walked for a couple of minutes in complete silence along the still quiet street, then she broke it with her words, ''Hey, Avis.'' she said, turning her head to look at the man. ''Thank you.'' she let out after a few moments of silence, handing the man a smile.

FABIAN SHARPE

They continued to walk in silence, ignoring all those that passed their way, though there were not many of such individuals. Their footsteps echoed on the cobbled streets as he thought of how well his quickly-laid plan had actually panned out, how well everything had fallen into place and how he had somehow known her weakness. Just the flashes of emotion on her face were enough for anyone to gather how much a golden pendant could mean to her and he had used them to his advantage in order to get her to accept something she would have left behind and regretted later. But Rune pushed through his inner euphoria and Avis turned to face Rune as they carried on walking. "It was my pleasure," he answered. Then his body swept into a bow and he allowed himself to give a small wink, "my lady." Fabian added as a jest, one arm behind his back.

The woman stopped for a moment to see his full bow and it made her smile. She continued walking, her gaze focused on this part of Carvel. When they were coming here, she hasn't payed much attention to the district, but now it managed to grasp her thoughts, at least for a moment. The houses were all smaller than the ones in the other parts of the city, they also looked a lot older and dustier. They were giving off a distinct atmosphere, making her feel unwanted there and, now that she thought about it, she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. It took them only a couple of minutes to get to the main district since the streets were quieter than before, and the woman led with a quicker pace. The district's market wasn't as flooded with people as it was in the morning, and it certainly had less interesting targets. She threw a glance at the market one last time before she noticed a familiar figure. It was the merchant she tried to rob three hours ago, and it seemed like he was leaving. ''Hey, Fabian.'' she said and nudged the man with her elbow, ''Are you in the mood for a side quest?'' she asked Avis with a grin as she motioned with her head to the merchant who started moving through the street at a slow pace. There was enough time for them left to stalk him to his house and I'm sure a few extra coins wouldn't hurt, right? It was not like they'd miss out on their main mission.

The merchant had also caught his attention as they moved through the market square. He seemed to be well-off, from the richness of the colour his clothes held, and from the plume of feathers on his hat. He could stand to loose a few coins to a good cause, and as thus Avis did not hesitate when Rune asked if he would like to have a go. "I refuse to pick-pocket like some youth, however." He uttered his words in a low voice, face hidden by the shadow of his hat as he watched the man head down one of the other seats. They should never miss a chance to take what they could and frankly, Fabian wanted some more action in his day (as if he had not had enough!). "Shall we follow him then, or force him into a dead end?" No matter what course they chose, Avis was sure that with the two of him, both seasoned at their art, they could only succeed in what they set out to do. Cockiness could be dangerous, but Fabian felt he had not overstepped the mark.

Rune chuckled at his words, ''Neither do I, though I've gotten away with it multiple times. But not today...'' she said as she settled her gaze on the moving target, starting to move once the man disappeared around the corner. ''I'd rather force him into a dead end, I've followed him earlier and you've seen how that turned out...'' she answered, trusting Fabian to be the first one to engage. The only disadvantage she had when it came to thieving and stalking was the fact that she couldn't scare people as easily as a man, since her appearance suggested she was of the more gentle gender. That was the main reason that got her busted earlier this morning, though she did manage to get out of that situation. And she was dying to see the merchant's face as she appears in front of him with Avis at her side. Oh, she'll have her revenge, paid in golden coins and a look of utter terror on the man's face. Rune noticed the man walked into a small alley, though it did seem suspicious he'd use that way to come to his house, but the woman still wanted him cornered and this was their chance, "Fabian, over there, now!"

FABIAN SHARPE

"Shh, we can't have him hearing us yet." Avis whispered urgently as they watched the man slip into an alleyway. In this central area of Carvel, that alleyway lead to a brothel and an opium den. Why such a well-to-do man was heading down there was a mystery, but he chose not to dwell on it as he strode forwards, feet placed carefully on the cobbles so that he made no noise. His stance was upright for now, but when he too slipped into the alleyway - not looking back to see if Rune was on his heels, for he trusted that she would be - he pressed to the shadows, staying a little lower. He could see the corner at the dead end and would have laughed out loud. Their target wasn't a smart one, was he? He was making this all the easier for them.
Stepping closer, Fabian drew his sword slowly so that it made little noise when it was removed and moved even closer. He was mere feet behind their target now, whom was turning towards the brothel. Avis cleared his throat loudly. The man turned and immediately his eyes widened. "Good morning to you too, sir," Avis said, placing the tip of his sword under the chin so it pressed against the soft flesh there, "kindly back into the corner and cooperate; we'll leave you then."

She let out a sigh, he was right. They couldn't afford to be heard and the woman just closed her mouth, at least until they've caught the merchant. She really didn't want to pass up a good opportunity for filling her purse with coins. Rune followed Avis as he slipped into the shadows of the small alley, staying a bit behind him just so she wouldn't be noticed at first. Seeing the dead end herself, she had to admit the man was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and she almost felt ashamed that an idiot like him managed to make her run for dear life earlier today. Once Fabian's blade was at the merchant's throat, she emerged from the shadows, a smirk flaring underneath her olive gaze. Oh, but this the merchant understood and he recognized her in an instant. The fear was clearly visible in his eyes and the woman couldn't hide the fun she was having from just looking at him. ''We can do this the easy way...'' she said, taking out her beloved dagger, ''Or the hard way.'' she added a moment later, lunging at the man and pushing him against the cold wall of the alley, the dagger's blade pressed against his throat. As much as she knew that cockiness usually ended in death, the woman couldn't go against herself. The merchant took out the two purses of coins he had attached to his belt and slowly handed it to her, but Rune cleared her throat, making him hand her the third one he tried to hide. ''I knew you weren't that stupid.'' she said with a smirk, putting away her daggers and glancing one last time at the man. In the same moment the merchant wanted to open his mouth, her hand flew towards his throat and the forceful strike made the man drop to his knees, catching his breath. ''I spoke too soon...'' the woman said and turned around, nudging Avis to follow her. It would take the merchant some time to regain his breath and start screaming for help, but it was just enough time to escape from the alley.

The man thankfully cooperated and handed over three purses heavy with gold. Rune took them but Avis took the opportunity to take some fine rings from his fingers and the feathers - ostrich feather, he noted - from the stupidly ornate hat on his head. The punch his companion gave the man earned an approving stare, for it was full of force but he wasn't sure it was completely necessary. Placing his new items in the pocket with the papers, Avis turned away and followed the woman, shaking his head and sheathing his weapon. "Was it really that necessary to put your dagger to his throat? I think my sword was enough." He said as they emerged back onto the marketplace. They had to move quickly now to return back to the guild before the guards were called.

Rune gave the man a grin, ''Of course. He had it coming for the rudeness he showed this morning.'' she answered, looking at the purses of gold she held in her arms. It would be best if she hid those since the guards would start circling the district and it was really not her desire to be caught by a few pesky guards with all this loot, not to mention they aren't the only thieves in this city. She attached the purses on the backside of her belt, where she kept her own gold and a few extra throwing knives, you know, just in case. The items were unnoticeable since they were hidden behind her cloak, and this was one of the few times she was glad she took it with her instead of a simple hood. The duo kept walking through Carvel in silence, until they finally exited the city and made it into the woods. ''Avis.'' she said after a while, continuing her relaxed walked. They had a bit of walking til they made it to the Guild, and Rune really didn't want to waste it in silence, but she also didn't want to go back just yet. ''Before we go back to the Guild... how would you like some sparing? Just a bit of innocent fun, hm?'' she asked, a playful flicker appearing in her eyes as a smile stretched on her face. She never had a chance to spar with him and their mission could wait a bit more, no? Besides, someone like Fabian surely held some interesting moves to show, or so she hoped.

His brows raised at the sudden question and Fabian turned, his frame dappled in the light of the trees. "Is that a challenge?" He asked, drawing out his sword and setting his body in the familiar fighting stance. It wasn't often he fought a woman - in fact, he'd only done it once, around seven years ago, when a particularly stubborn maid had drawn a carving knife and threatened to "gut him like a fish" if he dared to move a single inch across the floor towards the set of ivory statues on the fireplace. He'd warned her and she hadn't given up, so he'd moved forwards. She'd flown at him like some young green soldier, knife aimed at his heart. Avis had deflected her with ease, taken the statues and left. However, it had not been a fair fight and as such a regretted even hurting her with the flick of his wrist to wrench the knife from her grip.
"Come one then, I'm waiting." He jeered, blue eyes narrowing with a daring glint.
