Samuel walked in the quiet woods on the outskirts of the kingdom. He usually woke up early to collect herbs in the beautiful and quiet forest. Not many people ventured into the woods which was good for the young healer, he didn't have to worry about people stepping on the precious herbs. He walked on, he'd never gotten lost in the forest. He spotted a greenish-whit flower, the herb he was looking for; jaundice root. He was low on the supply of jaundice root so he picked the pretty flower and placed it in his small basket. He remembered one of his frequent visitors had digestive problems, but the herb worked like magic. It was all thanks to his adoptive mother's teachings. However, she passed away two years ago so he worked and studied hard. Whenever he was in the forest, he felt alive and peaceful. It was his getaway from society. He collected a few other herbs such as motherwart and burdock. Once he collected a few herbs he was low on, he headed back to his small apothecary located in the middle of town. He organized the new herbs he collected, many of his patients called him the best healer.

(Sorry this is a terrible post, I wasn't sure what else to add!)

Gods, that same accursed dream again.

By now it had become almost second nature to the princess, and so didn't freeze her blood the way it used to; especially knowing her sisters had suffered similar nightmares. Rhen, best choose wisely, Rhena. Each time, she phrased her question differently, and each time she watched her veins darken beneath her skin, the inky tendrils crawling their way towards her heart. Terrible, terrible shame. Poor choice, dear. Didn't you know that is a sin, dear Rhen? And before the poison ended her short life, Rhena would jolt awake, safe in her home, safe within the confines of the castle walls. Without fail, she could check her arms before breathing a sigh of relief; and today was no different. She had begun to wonder why she still checked, perhaps entertaining the possibility that it might actually occur within reality. A derisive laugh. And so, she pushed the nightmare towards the darkest corners of her mind - where light could not touch it.

Dressing in finely embroidered clothes, her outfit was rather modest; not too extravagant as to draw attention to herself. Perfect to walk undetected (if you could do so with guards surrounding you), hints of silver linings to the overcoat contrasting beautifully against her eyes. After neatly tying her hair and weaving the diadem between the long strands, Rhena was set; and escorted into the library. Though today, it wasn't fun, but rather a trivial matter. She had an appointment of dealings, to read over documents and grant her opinion on any highlighted discrepancies. No doubt Dorian would be invited to such a thing. See what they could test each other on. She gave a little huff at the rivalry they shared, though often she saw it as a challenge to compete with the likes of the scholar.

      ───────── ─────────

After a frankly standard meeting, dotting the is and crossing the t's, the princess gave the guards a reprieve, head dipping and gaze flitting around the library where books lay in abundance like raindrops. She breathed in the air, and excused herself from the proceedings in order to settle in the corner she most often occupied. The shelves in this particular alcove were littered with ancient languages and foreign tongues; more often centring around one distinct theme: the Fey. (Rhen's particular favourites, as well those highly-sought-after forbidden articles, lay in her room away from prying eyes.)

Footsteps. Rhena pulled up her knees and chose to observe from her quiet corner, face set with what looked like apprehension. It wasn't often others called, maybe her sisters or others on occasion, yet it always set her on edge. Easily spooked, was this little princess. Definitely not the adventurous type like her twin, it seemed. (Shame, because she would just love to tag along one of these days.) But, as the door swung open and her sister was unveiled, she breathed a contented sigh. Shut her eyes. Plastered on a smile to soothe her nerves. Nat's company would be wonderful right now, in all honestly. Rather lonesome of late. "Natalya?" she murmured softly, neck craned to watch her sister from afar. Once she slotted a scrap of paper to act as a makeshift bookmark in her current reading material, she let the book close and hugged it to her chest. Her shoulders curved inwards when she stood, though, tensing when her sister called after Dorian. See, she wasn't one to interject, and spoke with worried haste, "Oh, I-- sorry, it's not me you're looking for," words stumbling over themselves.

Dorian: One

Postby rukavis » Mon Aug 29, 2016 12:56 pm

═══════════════════════════ Dorian Keffler ═══════════════════════

The Scholar Tagged;; Rhena, Natalya Post;; One Brother;; Three

As the morning sunlight began to shine through the windows of a small cottage by the edge of the woods, the rays of light hit the eyelids of Dorian Keffler, causing him to open his bright brown eyes. As he began to move and wake up, he realized that he had fallen asleep in a sitting position. That explained the aching pain his neck and back. He also didn’t recognize the room at first. It certainly wasn’t his small dorm off to the side of the castle. As he looked around, he realized he was in Gaius’ little hut. Gaius was his adoptive father, the one who had to take him in when Dorian was left on his doorstep.

Dorian stood up and gathered what things were his. He could tell Gaius was still asleep, so Dorian didn’t want to wake him on his way out. It wasn’t until Dorian had his bag filled with books and paper and pens and had shut Gaius’ front door behind him that he realized something very important: today was the date of that meeting he’d been invited to. Rhena was to read over some documents and give her thoughts on it all. Dorian hadn’t wanted to miss that one. Any chance he got to give Rhena a run for her money was a chance Dorian took. And of course, he had completely forgotten the night before with Gaius.

The night before, Gaius and Dorian had decided to delve real deep into a book written by some author many years ago. They were trying to interpret the meanings of all the colors the author used when attributed to the characters. All the notes were in Dorian’s bag. They were up really late trying to decipher the code, so Gaius had gone to bed. Dorian was going to stay up just a little bit longer and then go back to his room in the castle, courtesy of the King, but he had fallen asleep while working.

That was when Dorian’s brisk walk broke into a run.

He rushed back to his room as quick as possible. He didn’t even put away the contents of his bag. He went about his daily routine at twice the speed. He threw on a red shirt in a hurry, not even realizing that it was backwards, with a pair of black pants to go with it. He pulled on a pair of boots without fixing his pant legs and sloppily tied them up. He then grabbed his favorite pen and rushed over to the library.

Upon arriving at the library, Dorian took a quick second to calm down slightly, then pulled open the door. Inside he was met with a very empty library, save for Rhena in the corner and Natalya further in. Sweat all over his face and out of breath, Dorian managed to gasp out,
    “Did I miss it?”

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooage. twenty five years oldolocation. the library
      ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
xxxxxThere was no answer to Natalya's call, and she frowned. Dorian was usually in the library at this, at least someone was. Sometimes even Caoimhe browsed the shelves, though that was rare. Usually she preferred to be out experiencing the world rather than reading about it. Cautiously, Natalya moved further inside the doors. When the servants cleaned the tended to put things back a little differently then the objects had been previously. It was no fault of their own, they probably didn't think twice about it, but whenever entering the library on a new day she always had to be careful where she walked. Natalya found her way to a bookshelf and smiled as she ran her hand down it, feeling the different spines. Some had lettering that was inlaid, others had letters that stuck out a bit, and some didn't have letters on the side at all. She wondered what it would be like to read. Would she enjoy it like Rhena or prefer to be outdoors or training to be a queen, if she could see? Probably training to be the kingdom's next queen.. Natalya felt bitterness well up inside her again, but she did her best to shove it down.
xxxxx"Natalya?" She turned towards the sound of Rhena's voice, a smile breaking out on her face. "Oh, I-- sorry, it's not me you're looking for." Natalya waved a hand dismissively. "No, but no matter. You are here and Dorian is not." She walked towards the shapeless, fuzzy blue figure amidst the browns and reds. Those colors were the furniture and chairs, if she remembered correctly. There was a group of them just to the left of the door, where Rhena currently stood. She must have picked out a blue outfit today. Natalya stopped when she reached her sister, and spoke again. "Did you finish a book and come to return it?" While Rhena sometimes got books from the merchants the visited the nearby village, most of them came from the library's vast collection.
xxxxxThe sudden pounding of footsteps came from the hallway outside the library, and Natalya turned towards the sound in alarm. Had someone been injured? The door creaked open a moment later, coupled with someone gasping for air. Before she could get properly worried, Dorian's voice broke the silence. "Did I miss it?" She turned her face to Rhena again, curious. "Miss it? I wasn't aware of anything going on this morning."

Brianna -- One

Postby widow. » Mon Aug 29, 2016 2:10 pm

♠ - B R I A N N A R O S E A S I A L I - ♠

| prophecy - The Beauty | | tagged - Antonio | | location - Courtyard/Training Grounds|

It was not only Caoimhe and Rhena that had been having dreams. Though, unlike her sisters, Brianna had only seen this dream once before. The last time, she had almost died from an infection that had not been cured correctly.

Darkness. It swallowed everything, left her vision black and shapeless, left her cold and afraid. She shivered, goose flesh forming on her pale skin as the cold pressed in like an ocean that stretched on forever. Her breath billowed like smoke, though it was not visible to the girl, though she knew it was there. The fifth, a girl of beauty and grace, will betray the rest to her disgrace. The words repeated, as if it were a chant, the voice uttering it being without form, without a pinpoint. It was not distinct- it was, as if, every voice in the kingdom had said it at the same time.

Brianna jolted awake, her body soaked from head to toe in cold sweat, her pale green eyes wide with fear. Her heartbeat slowed as she realized she was in her own bed, in her own room. She closed her eyes and let out a heavy sigh, her hand moving to her head to rub at her temples. It was like this for a few moments before she stood, running a hand through her hair, which was only a bit longer than shoulder length. She much preferred her hair this way- it was much easier to manage, plus, she could pull off the look rather well. She moved to where she had laid out a dress the night before, and deciding she didn't want her servants to see her in such a disgruntled state she put it on herself. It was a pale red with embroidered vines, that went down a little past her knees and had short sleeves. A summer dress for the warm weather. Her hair was then tied into a bun, with two strands of pale brown hair cascading down to add an effect. Overall, anyone could see why they called her 'the beauty'.

The fourteen year old would make her way through the familiar hallways, humming lightly as her sandals guided her through the castle, until she found herself overlooking the courtyard behind the castle. She wasn't too far above, it was a good ten feet to the ground below. Her gaze found the form of a soldier making quite violent work of a punching bag. Curiosity sparked in her features as she watched him, setting her arms down on the balcony's edge and crouching over some to look. Though she said nothing yet. He seemed to be quite focused on his task. In the meantime, she racked her mind for some joke or humorous remark to make when he was done. Making people smile was her favorite thing to do, all princess activities aside. It always filled her with a feeling of success and happiness. Brianna could only hope that any suitor she eventually married had a sense of humor.

There was a soft intake of air when Natalya turned towards her, and Rhena allowed her shoulders to drop a degree when she saw her sister's smile. It was something that was easily mirrored by her, the only difference being her dropping her head and dashing her foot across the floorboards. No, but no matter. You are here and Dorian is not. "I'm sorry," she repeated, far softer, far quieter. She felt that spike of unease stab at her heart at the choice phrasing. Shouldn't have been a concern. Wasn't worth fretting over. Besides! Her sister was here, and perhaps she could just relax with her company and not read between the words like she did with her books. Not every word holds a double-edged sword, Rhen.

After twirling a strand of her hair around her finger to dissuade her nerves, she tucked the curl behind her ear. "Quite the opposite," she gave a small shrug, "but it doesn't matter. You said you were looking for Dorian?" The fourth princess herself as a subject was never an easy thing for her. Moreover, had Natalya found a book she wanted to hear about? Rhena would be happy to oblige. Might as well figure out where the scholar had gotten to, though, considering his presence was almost guaranteed in meeting situations. Anyway, Rhena wasn't the type to venture off alone to look.

So, she met Nat's pretty green gaze with a smile. Yes, her sisters' eyes were somewhat clouded, but that lent a lovely blue hue to the pupils that brought out the dappling of freckles across her nose. And if this was one of Rhen's favourite adventure books, that's how she'd describe the look of them. It was something she found herself often contemplating when her mind would wander, musing over how herself and her sisters would be described if characters in one of her novels. Brianna, surely would be the prettiest with her dainty frame and soft features; Caoimhe, the one with cascades of long, molten gold locks of hair; and Nicolette with her bold and striking eyes, contrasted by delicate eyelashes framing them. And her? The quiet one, best not worth mentioning. Rhena would be lucky for a footnote in the least. But this wasn't the time for pity or the like. She steeled herself and held up the book, and while Nat couldn't see it, Rhena knew she'd be able to pick out the colour difference against the backdrop of her blue gown, as a this is the book I'm reading, sort of gesture.

And it was around that point in time that another echoing tread pounded through the halls to strike her motionless yet again. Running? In the royal halls? Who would have the audacity? But the noise stopped just outside. Composing themselves, I would guess. Her brows furrowed, and even though Natalya didn't at all seem fazed, Rhena still put one foot behind the other to appear less of a threat; as well as a smaller target. It was her preference to go unnoticed, something the brave Natalya didn't seem concerned about. When the doors swung open once again, Rhena remained alongside Nat and lo and behold: Dorian. Oh, but the sight! The poor scholar drenched in sweat and choking down gulps of air; well, it was quite a sight. (Poor thing hadn't even noticed his shirt was inside-out.) And it was one sight Rhena chuckled slightly at. "Only the entire meeting, Mister Scholar." Her response was soft, most likely overshadowed by her sister's note of question. Rhena shuffled her weight from one foot to the other before answering, "Meeting of the King's Council. Document signings, simple little checks is all," she answered, drumming her fingers across the edges of the book in her grasp. "It was not interesting in the slightest, I can assure you."

Dorian: Two

Postby rukavis » Tue Aug 30, 2016 7:18 am

═══════════════════════════ Dorian Keffler ═══════════════════════

The Scholar Tagged;; Rhena, Natalya Post;; Two Brother;; Three

Exhausted from exercise that he doesn't normally get, Dorian stumbled over to the nearest table and plopped himself down in a chair. “Not interesting in the slightest?” Dorian repeated, raising a wobbly finger and attempting to point it at Rhena. His finger missed its mark by a long shot. “This is what the news will be about tomorrow! Everyone will be talking, and I can’t even say I was there.” Dorian leaned back in his chair, a dejected look upon his face. In reality, the meeting might be a side point of conversation for a few elite, too-much-time-on-their-hands upper class citizens who pride themselves in those kinds of dealings. Other than that, no one would care in the slightest.

Dorian looked down at the pen in his hand. He didn’t even bring paper with him. How would he take notes without any paper to work with? He sighed and shook his head, leaning over to fix his boots. They were just loosely tied, barely keeping together. Dorian tied them again. He then fixed his pant legs so that they were falling neatly over the boots instead of half in and half out. Then he leaned back in his chair and looked up at Natalya and Rhena.

“So what’s up? Is there anything going on?” Dorian moved his gaze between the two sisters, his question going out to both of them. He couldn’t read Natalya’s purpose in being in the library just by looking at her. She would have to tell him herself. Normally he would read to Natalya if she was in there with him. He would read out loud both to her and to himself, and his great epiphanies and realizations would be exclaimed rather vehemently, although that normally happened whether Natalya was there or not.

Dorian’s gaze shifted back over to Rhena. She was standing in the fey corner with a book in her hands. While there wasn’t a big sign labeled “Fey Corner” or anything like that, everyone who frequented the library knew that the corner Rhena was standing in only contained books about the ancient and magical fey. There were no other books over there and books about fey couldn’t be found anywhere else. It made Dorian wonder what in particular she was looking for. Just like with Natalya, he would not be able to tell just by looking. She would have to say it herself.

I GET ALONG WITH THE VOICES

ANTONIO "TONY" MARTELL
тнє ƒιяѕт, тнє ѕσℓ∂ιєя

∂σιηg; Training-ish | мσσ∂; Frustrated | тαℓкιηg тσ; Brianna
ℓσcαтιση; Training grounds behind castle

His knuckles were starting to hurt. Despite the swollen and cracked knuckles, and the dull ache in his right shoulder from a fight a the tavern the night before, Tony wasn't feeling too bad. He was sweaty and out of breath, but overall he didn't feel too overly worked. As he threw a particularly hard punch at the body of the dummy the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. Tony had always been really good at telling when he was being watched, and with a quick check of his peripherals he decided that the person had to be standing behind him. He turned slowly, hoping not to frighten them, he didn't particularly like being watched, especially when training, but not too many people knew that.

He frowned, unable to see anyone out in the open, or even attempting to hide from him in the bushes and planets around the courtyard. It took him a moment to notice the girl standing on the balcony a few feet above the courtyard. He tilted his head to the right and he squinted his eyes trying to see her face. It took him all of three seconds to recognize Brianna, the youngest princess, the one who was least likely to ever want any kind of training from him at all.
"Good morning princess." He said loudly, bowing at the waist in her direction. As he bent and caught sight of his bare stomach he was suddenly very aware of the fact that he was no longer wearing the shirt he had woken up in. He felt the blood rush to his face and hoped it wasn't too noticeable for her on the balcony. He straightened quickly, cocked his head to the side and gave her a half smirk. He asked the next question knowing full well what her answer would be. "Ready for an early morning spar?"

xxxxx nicolette had been up for quite sometime. the future queen had found herself unable to sleep. taunts of a future out of her control flooded her mind when she was left alone in her room at night. last night in particular had been especially haunting. she had found herself tossing and turning in an endless restlessness until she finally had given up, deciding that trying to sleep was futile, and had taken to another wing of the castle to attempt planning how to save her kingdom.

xxxxx now, as morning light creeped its way across the floorboards towards the table at which she was now residing, cole found her thoughts returning to the nightmares that had been invading her dreams. the second a girl, so strong and bold, will find the sword of gold. the strategic woman flipped the words over and over again in her mind. as if the longer she pondered on them, the more sense they would make. unfortunately, this was not the case. she was no less confused now than the very first time she had heard the words. however, she would never admit to losing sleep over it, especially not to her sisters.

xxxxx nicolette let her thoughts drift away from the nightmare and to her sisters. she loved them all very deeply, but that didn't mean she always got along with all of them. natalya and she, for example, had started out on the wrong foot. however, in all, she loved them and nothing could change that. or so she thought. right now, cole was wondering what her sisters were up to. she knew they would all be awake by now and starting there day.

xxxxx figuring she had spent more than enough time staring at maps and battle strategies, she stood up and stretched out her limps, before turning towards the door. as she walked down the hallway, the princess felt herself yawn. she could really use an energy boost right about now. or an adrenaline boost she thought, readjusting her direction to head to the training grounds behind the castle, where she knew she would find antonio. cole picked up her pace at the thought of seeing him; antonio was one of the only ones around the castle besides her sisters that she enjoyed being around.

xxxxx long, brunette locks bounced behind her as she made her way outside and towards the training grounds, where she was surprised to spot brianna looking down from a balcony. it was not often that the youngest of the sisters could be found anywhere near the training grounds. though the two didn't have much in common, they almost never fought, and respected each others differences. much like yin and yang. nicolette loved the younger girl with a fire, but fighting was not her sport.

xxxxx the brunette snickered at antonio's comment, leaning against the punching bag which he had previously been attacking. "a morning spar? good luck with that one" she said under her breath, so that only tony could hear her and not bri. cole could barely suppress a grin as she awaited whatever snarky, sassy and no doubt hilarious comment brianna had up her sleeve to fling back at the soldier.

    x ( fionn donoghue - fin )
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [ » ʀᴏʟᴇ. the hunter ] - [ » ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ. male ] - [ » ᴀɢᴇ. 22 ] - [ » ʟᴏᴠᴇ ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴇsᴛ. like he'd tell ] - [ » ʟᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ. forest stream ] - [ » ᴛᴀɢs. caoimhe ]

xxxxx the hunter was moving swiftly and quietly through the woods. he had been out since before the break of dawn, since first light was the best time to find animals. any animal would be at its weakest after sleep. his feet moved almost mutely across the forest floor as he checked the traps that he has set last night. only small game had been present so far this morning. this would be more than enough to feed his family and make a profit selling to others in the marketplace. however, a certain costumer of his requires finer, larger prey.

xxxxx working for the their highnesses was no easy task, as anyone within their employment or servitude would agree. but fionn liked his job as the royal huntsman. although he found no pleasure in taking lives, even human ones, he loved the woods and it was his home, so anytime spend making his way through the trees was time well spent in his opinion. one perk in particular of his job was his interactions with the princesses. though a few did not like him very much, nicolette and rhena in particular, he really enjoyed some of the other. natalya, for instance, had always loved to take walks with him through the woods as he told stories and descriptions about the forest.

xxxxx before he could let his mind drift to his feelings on the other princesses, fin spotted movement out of the corner of his eye. he immediately used his years of experience to become one with the woods around him. the movement he had seen was that of a healthy, young buck. careful not to be noticed, the huntsman set his game bag down and slid his bow off his shoulder, swiftly and soundlessly placing an arrow in the arrow rest. letting his breathing narrow, he took steady aim and narrowed his eyes, before releasing the air in his lungs and the arrow from the bow. it flew threw the air, hitting its target and landing directly between the male deer's eyes. fionn rushed over to the buck and placed his hand on its neck and his head on its chest, stroking the animal softly as the life left its body. a tear slipped down the man's cheek. thank you for the gift of your life. you are highly revered and honored. may you rest peacefully knowing that your sacrifice has provided for many others. he said silently. once it died, he stood and took to carrying the large animal back to town.

xxxxx after a while, the weight of the deer on his back began to wear on fin. he decided it was best to rest now, as he was three fourths of the way back. taking leave at a stream, the hunter set all his catchings down before turning towards the water. the curly haired man splashed water gently on his face, when he suddenly heard a voice. his first thought was how extremely out of place the voice was. it was not often that the huntsman encountered others out in the woods unless they were lost, or they were a threat. he was about to pull out his dagger when he recognized a flash of blonde hair by the river. caoimhe the girl was sitting by the streams edge. she was one of the princesses that fionn loved whole heartedly. sometimes it felt like the two of them shared a soul when it came to the forest. they both seemed to be more at home out here than in their perspective houses. he let a smile spread across his face as he moved closer to her. "now what might a princess, such as yourself, be doing out here, all alone, in the woods on a day like today?" he questioned, in a teasing tone.

xxxxx"Quite the opposite, but it doesn't matter. You said you were looking for Dorian?" Natalya nodded at Rhena's inquiry, making a vague gesture at the books around them. "He usually is in the library at this time, even though I'm not always awake." She smiled. "If he's not busy, he will read books aloud to me. The books aren't always interesting like your adventure books, but I like listening to them anyway." She noted the color change as a green, vaguely rectangular object was held up for her to 'see'. She could decipher much besides the overall color of the cover, but if Rhena was reading it the book was most likely an adventure story of some sort. Not to say her sister didn't read anything else, but that was her favorite genre. Natalya had to agree on some level; hearing about quests and battles and journeys was always exciting - even if sometimes she would rather be the one experiencing them rather than hearing about them. "What is this book about?"
xxxxxNatalya waited as Rhena answered both her question and Dorian's. Ah, so another meeting had gone on early this morning. She could never understand how Rhena and Dorian - well, Dorian on most days - were able to wake up and attend these meetings without becoming terribly bored. She would be tired to begin with, and the subject of documents and important papers wouldn't help her stay awake. There was a thump from near the door; Dorian must have sat down. He spoke a moment later.
xxxxx"Nothing of importance has happened yet," she answered him. "But I speak only for myself, I don't know what Rhen has been up to." Natalya reached out her hand to one of the nearby brown and red shapes, finding to indeed be a chair. She lowered herself into it and ran a hand over her dress to smooth it out. "Why were you late? Is everything alright?" It was perhaps a little silly of her to immediately assume something is wrong, but she had always known Dorian to be a precise person, and him being late was a little out of character.
