CASPIAN
who: open where: the wordsworth house
whose idea was it to roll up to the nightmare house again? the second that the entryway doors slammed shut behind the group of hunters cas tensed slightly - he wouldn't say that he was afraid, because he wasn't really. places like this were all too common in his line of work but the wordsworth house felt different than all those other locations. caspian held a titanium knife in one hand, turning it idly between his fingers and watching it occasionally catch a tiny speck of light as he wandered down one of the hallways, moving away from the rest of the group a little. he made a point of not straying too far off, just in case something happened; this house did have a reputation. syke had already wandered off on his own but that was natural - cas didn't bother to follow him, knowing he'd prefer to be alone.
the blond hunter ran a hand along a bookshelf pressed against one of the walls, drawing a line through the layer of dust that covered the wood. he wondered briefly how long it had been since anyone had come through here. with all of the speculation surrounding the place it was likely that the only ones to ever pass through were people like the hunters and teenagers trying to complete silly dares to impress their friends. but there were books and old objects in here that had to have belonged to someone, a very long time ago.
the sound of something heavy crashing against a wall urged caspian to turn back from the hallway he'd been wandering along, not wanting to disappear from the others entirely. apparently the thing hadn't been aimed at anyone, probably intended to scare them or at least let them know they weren't welcome. he stood at the base of the staircase and looked up it, glancing over his shoulder at his group and making a gesture that he was going to head up. he had one knife still held at the ready, the other three were sheathed securely at his sides. his boots made surprisingly little sound against the wooden steps and he kept his mismatched eyes fixed ahead - still irrationally uneasy about nothing in particular.

SAWYERi know, he knows, that he's killing me for mercy
tag - cadoc | ment - cas (not named)─
Sawyer's brows furrowed as a loud sound echoed throughout the otherwise quiet house; oh, this was definitely becoming something. He continued to grin, eyes following the line of the staircase. He still couldn't see all the way to the foyer, so he readied himself to round the staircase and head to the main floor, before movement caught his eye.
He quickly caught Cadoc stumbling up the stairs, and he stopped moving, instead twisting his head to get a better view. Once the other reached the top, he opened his mouth to ask what was going on, though just before the sound of footsteps flooded his ears. Someone was coming up the stairs. His eyes widened, and he quickly rushed forward, putting an arm around Cadoc's shoulders and ushering him away from the staircase. "You good?" he whispered as he did so, wanting to assure him that this wasn't out of maliciousness, knowing that he himself probably would've taken it that way.
But, they couldn't afford to get caught - not yet, anyway. As far as he knew, these hunters could be anything from experts to amateurs. Hell, they could even just be people, average people looking for a scare. Either way, Cadoc would definitely know more than he did, and Sawyer aimed to find out exactly what was going down. He desperately wanted to get in on the action. Itching to do so, even. It was as if the whole world, having just stopped in time for six months, swung back into action at the drop of a hat.
"You good?" What's going on down there?" he asked, voice hushed, though laced with excitement. The two were out of sight, for the most part, unless someone was to round the corner at the top of the stairs and crane their head to the left. His eyes darted from Cadoc back to the staircase, from which the sound of footsteps only seemed to get louder.
