eli rolled his eyes in amusement at eloy's gesture. now probably wasn't the best time to be goofing around but he had to remind himself that different people deal with things in their own ways. as pheobe melted the bars to his own cell he gave her a grateful nod and stepped out of the cell on his own free will for the first time ever. he noted chryseis' skeptical message and shook his head. "hey now, we're gonna make it out of here. positive thoughts." though he had to admit he was beginning to question things himself. they'd never tried anything like this before and it wasn't exactly going to be easy for all ten of them to slip away unnoticed.
"and yes, eloy. now is definitely a bad time." he gave the other boy a playful shove as he made his way past to a fuse box on the wall. he could definitely take out the power through this thing, but he didn't want to raise any alarms before everyone was out of their cells and ready to make a break for it. there were so many things that could go wrong at this point it was almost discouraging. the door that separated the cell block from the rest of the base had an electronic lock, usually the guards opened it with a key card or something but eli could probably short it out - then it would be a matter of pushing it. i hope it's not heavy he thought to himself. then again it would be no issue for lucas.
stray sparks flew from elias' fingertips as the anticipation started to really hit him and he paced back and forth in front of the fuse box. how long before the guards came back, he wondered. he could hear anna begging to be let out. he knew this whole thing had been pretty rough on her child-like soul, not that it had been easy for any of them. all he could think about in that moment was the sky and the fact that soon he'd be seeing it for the first time in over fifteen years.

Kami
✕ spider ✕ climbs on walls and ceilings ✕ open ✕
He listened into everyone's constant noise through his cell bars. He was hanging from the ceiling like a bat watching the outside of his cell to see if a guard would pass through or if anything exciting was to happen. Kami snapped at Anna,"Quiet, you impatient ibusal you're all causing way to much noise. we can chat all we want once we're out of this hellhole". Moody as ever he silently crept forward on the ceiling making it so that the others could see him. "This opportunity is incredibly important and I suggest we carry on with it a little quieter. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want to actually see the sun. And not through glass." Kami was always down to the point and serious, but was especially high-strung. This was immensely important to him and he wanted it to work so bad. Ever since he was a child he had the dream of seeing the sun.
He jumped from the ceiling to the floor with a bang and walked forward so that his nose was in between the bars. He had a few things in his room. Tasteless gum. The bed that he used for absolutely nothing. He liked to sleep on the ceiling. Kami is incredibly odd. His nickname the spider suits him, but the others liked to joke that he was more of a bat sometimes due to this tendency. There was also a toilet and other necessities. There was also a black rubber ball he liked to bounce and a deck of cards. He enjoys doing card tricks and gets ecstatic when he learns a new one.

"I think I'm gonna go pee back in my cell while the rest of you bust all the kiddies out." As he went to do his business, he could hear crackles of electricity coming from Eli's fingers. "Don't shock us all to death of excitement, Eli!" he yelled out the melted bars of his cell. The sounds of Anna's pleas were getting on El's nerves so much that he decided to go shut her up. Or comfort her. It depended on how he was feeling once he got to her cell. But he had to beware of touching her. That girl was deadly, but he could feel her mind being dulled by her instinctive need to be out of confinement. Maybe he could force her to be quiet for a few second so she could wait her turn. As he got to Anna's cell he said softly to her "I'm going to calm your mind. It's not going to make you do anything, and you'll be just fine." He sent some calming vibes out to her. Along with deception, he could also control emotions to some extent. But those were harder to implement into someone's mind, and it was ultimately up to the receiver on whether to take the "vibes", as El called them.

zero was tucked up in the corner of his cell, glaring at the bars in front of him. they never stopped, did they? the uncomfortable metal surrounded him from head to toe, confining him in the tiny space. he was known for being claustrophobic, but the scientists never cared. they just forced him in anyway, rolling their eyes at his pleas. it was like he was just an animal to them. in fact, that's exactly what he was. an animal. a lab rat. just another experiment. the fact he was petrified of closed spaces didn't matter to anyone but himself. so, he'd learned to stop crying. he had to, or else he'd look like the weakest one of the bunch. instead, he held it all in. zero would stare, emotionless, at those bars like his life depended on it. he cracked his knuckles, locked in a stressful level of focus as he desperately tried to cling to his false reality. he wasn't in the small cage, he was away from all the rusty metal and teeny spaces. he was outside. the sunset. right, cling to the sunset. the only memory he had of the outside.
the guards left. they were gone. the other began to talk amongst themselves, and pheobe proceeded to melt the bars of her cell. he shot up immediately, eyes wide and excited. he would get out of the cage! he hurried to his feet, getting up to the front of his prison. it felt like the walls were beginning to close in on him again, but he ignored it. he was almost out.
"well, this should go just swell," he pitched into the conversation with his sarcasm, unable to hide his everlasting belief that this wouldn't blow over as smoothly as everyone wanted.

Anna, at Kami's rather harsh reprimand, felt her bottom lip begin to wobble slightly. She hadn't thought she was being that loud, considering the raised voices of the other subjects, but she always had been incredibly thin-skinned. At least she didn't have long to mope about feeling offended, because before she knew it Eloy was standing at the bars of her cell. She stepped instinctively backwards, wrapping her arms around herself. This was, of course, a rather unnecessary precaution, and not only because he would be intelligent enough to refrain from touching her- Anna was wearing, and did wear at all times, two layers of clothing that extended from fingertips, to toes, to far up her neck. There really was no way she could hurt anyone, not with the amount of clothing she was wearing.
She took the calming vibes willingly. Immediately a smile spread across her face, causing small dimples to form in her cheeks. She let out a soft hum of contentment, the death grip she had been holding herself in loosening. With one gloved hand, she reached up towards her mouth and placed a kiss on her fingertips. Carefully, she held the hand up to the bars and towards Eloy. "Thank you, Eloy," she stated quite calmly, leaning her forehead against the bars. "You're the bestest and I love you."
Small acts of affection such as this were common for Anna. Before the testing, she had been the most affectionate child imaginable, constantly hugging and kissing everyone she came across without hesitation. She had to unlearn this habit the hard way, and over the years had developed a safer system of loving people-- and she did love people, essentially everyone who had never hurt her. Though the drawing of pictures was the most common, Anna's favourite form of affection-sharing was the hand kiss. It was completely foolproof, too, so long as she was wearing her gloves and the person she was interacting with pulled their sleeve over their hand to receive the gesture.
"This is going to be fantastic," she added, turning her gaze momentarily towards Jasper and shooting him the most comforting smile she could muster. She never had been good with sarcasm, but at least it protected her from feeling the intense pessimism swirling about the room.

Anna/Chryseis

Sighing deeply at the antics of everybody, namely Eloy, she nodded in response to Elias before moving over to Anna's cell and next to El. She rolled her eyes to the metal confinement at Kami's scorn towards the girl. "Calm down, Spider-Man. She's not doing anything wrong." Pheobe actually found Anna's ability to remain jubilant throughout all of this entirely refreshing. She felt as though the whole ordeal caused everyone here to loose their innocence, to grow up in a way that wasn't natural or fair. She'd lost her childhood in her cell, and Anna deserved without question to enjoy all that she hadn't lost.
When she'd successfully finished melting down a gap large enough for the younger girl to slip through, she took a wayward glance at Eloy as he talked to Anna before sidling off to the ever sarcastic raven. "Aren't you just a bucket full of sunshine?" Pheobe leaned against the bars that would remain untouched as she melted a hole for Chryseis to escape through. Despite the short amount of time she'd only been doing this, she was getting tired. The affects of fire creation were, while still only small, more significant than those of simple manipulation. She looked around at the other cells, then at Elias as he paced. She frowned a moment, then blinked back down at the dripping metal.
The smell of it didn't bother her, not like it did Eloy. Maybe it was because she was the one causing it, or maybe it was because it represented a will to get out put into action. Maybe she had a cold and couldn't smell anything anyways. Whatever the case, she took a deep breath to calm her pulse, and the heated air in her vicinity comforted her. "And you, too, Zero. Rainbows. How many of us think positively about this plan? At all? I've counted... three?" The amount of negativity swirling in the room bothered her, despite her knowledge that it wasn't any of their faults. She had her pile of doubts as well, who wouldn't? If she were to escape, though, she'd have to set her mind on that and only that. Pessimism would only distract her.

El returned the small gesture of kindness from Anna, and turned back to Pheobe."We're being realists here. The chances of this actually being successful are almost zero. Raise your hand if you only agreed to this if you were bored!" He raised his hand, and awaited other hands to be raised. Now that about half of them were out of the little cupboards the guards claimed were cells, the tiny hall they were secluded in was getting crowded. El honestly hoped that Anna would stay inside her cell for a little bit longer, because while he didn't dislike her timid ways as much as some of the others, he really didn't want that girl too close to him. Since their powers were so different, he'd never had much interaction with her in training, but they had bonded slightly over their drawings. While Anna drew what she remembered and had been told of the outside, El drew what he remembered from his family. He doubted he'd ever see them again, but he could hope.
"Hey Anna, you taking any of your drawings?" she asked her. He'd shoved two into his pants, one of his entire family, including him, and one of his mother's face. But there was no way he'd tell anyone else about these. They were private, for El's eyes only, and he kept it to himself he remembered his family at all. He thought the others might be jealous, as so few of them could remember anything before coming to the base.

"i think positively about this plan!" ashli muttered through the bars of her cell. she began to shimmer into place, her blue eyes widening with excitement. she was cold; the walls of her cells gray and full of angry energy. she gripped the metal bars with tight hands and called out, "i'll help. i'll do anything you need me to do." the once loud voice dropped down to a whisper, not wanting to alert any guards around if they were any close by the proximity. letting go of the bars, she slipped her dirty blond hair into a ponytail, and set it into place with a rubber band she had found many days earlier. almost 2-3 weeks ago. ash was always collecting things she thought would come in handy. in her cell, ashli managed to snuggle in wrappers, pins, pieces of newspapers, and other miscellaneous things no one would think twice about. but she did. the clutter made her happy, kept her in peace. reminded her of the outside world that her heart longed for.
it was only a second of those thoughts that made ashli's eyes mist over. she needed to remain strong, especially if the others kept bickering like children. they needed to shut up, work together, and get the heck over themselves. they had to work like a team if they ever wanted to get out of this prison. longingly, she looked at pheobe, wondering if she had enough power to get her out of the cell. too bad she didn't have power to magically unlock the cage or something else that could help. as if to show a point, her leg disappeared, looking just like its surroundings. "how useful." ashli mumbled under her breath.

"the butterfly"
[age] nineteen [ ability ] deflection of bullets [ tagged ] open
Trying to settle herself on a filmy cot was difficult even so now that the day of their escape was upon them, her nerves were wracked at the thought of finally escaping these stone walls. In an attempt to keep herself calm (as usual) the young girl began to hum softly to herself, the tune itself was sweet and slow something that Keighley was sure had been her lullaby as a child. In her minds eyes Keighley could see it, or at least pieces of it a slender hand wrapped around hers and a voice lilting and warm full of love.
What snapped the young girl out of her revere was the dull sound of loudspeakers crackling to life, the time for action was now, sitting up Keighley kept her eyes on the ground as the soldiers passed by her cell on their way to unload the carrier. Better to look submissive than to arouse suspicion in the very people they were to deceive. As soon as they had left however Keighley was at her bars longing to be free of her cramped cell. Though not claustrophobic by any means Keighley still detested being trapped in her cell knowing that the only thing awaiting her on the other side of the bars was pain. Those bars now were melting, at least not her's yet but a few of her friends were already free and now wandering about in the hall between the cells. The conversations made Keighley smile despite the stressful circumstances, no matter the situation it seemed that some of her friends would always look upon their situation with a smile. At Pheobe's question Keighley cleared her throat softly "I do" she said softly smiling through her bars at Pheobe, yes she had doubts but more than that she had determination that this plan would succeed.

"alright, yes, i'll admit i actually think this plan could work." zero shrugged his shoulders, his light blue gaze shooting around between all of the other experiments. "i can't help but be sarcastic about it, though. it's not like there's a one hundred percent guarantee that we can all work together well enough to... escape." the word escape tasted peculiar on his tongue. like the juice of a sour grape, making his face wrinkle in disgust. it truly had been years since he'd imagined the idea of escape. being able to see a sunset, but realistically and right in front of him, was a dream come true. however, he couldn't get his hopes up. although a fair portion of the group thought positively of their plan, it didn't mean it was bound to work. this would require a hefty amount of teamwork, and zero wasn't so certain that everyone there could do that. not everyone was as dependable as he wished they could be.
zero closed his eyes, finding a headache was already surfacing deep within his temple. he massaged it lightly, hoping it disappeared quickly. any little thing could serve as a distraction for his abilities, but in truth he had complete faith in his powers. he had extreme precision. he never missed. he couldn't miss. it was physically impossible for him to miss. at least he could trust himself.
