deckard leo howell could remember the sun, vaguely. the way it caused heat to flow through his window every morning, the light lining his bed. he could remember when time didn't stand still, when the stars weren't the only thing telling you that the earth wasn't frozen in time. he remembered his life then; before all the hassle to even survive. he had a simple home, a simple family, simple everything. with hardly any friends, and a college acceptance to one of the brightest schools around, things were looking up. then, the sun started to die, and surely, almost everyone he knew died too. he was a coward, managed to run with his brother, Apollo. together, they found sanctuary with a small group of rebels. he earned a spot amongst the medics (not exactly sure how he could qualify to be good as them in the matter), and things were finally looking up.

christian blames himself for everything.
not necessarily the war, not the sun bl-
owing up, but the aftermath. before th-
e war, chris was a doctor-in-training. he
had a wife and a kid. it wasn't exactly
the life he imagined at twenty-five, but
it was a good life. after the sun ceased
to exist, he and his family went into hi-
ding along with some of his buddies. the
small hospital the town supplied was go-
od enough shelter for the thirteen peop-
le. on the outside, people started to pa-
nic, neighbors bombed each other to get
food. one of the bombs came a little two
close. the group lost nine people, includ-
ing his own son william. a number of ot-
hers were hurt. right away chris took th-
e position of doctor within the group, h-
ealing most of the injuries. unfortunate-
ly his wife meredith suffered a traumatic
shock when the bomb exploded. she co-
uldn't breathe, she just gasped for air, f-
ighting to stay alive. her lungs were fill-
ing up with blood. chris managed to dra-
in it, but after discovering she was septic,
there wasn't much he could do with the su-
pplies they had. a blood transfusion was
far too risky, but worth a shot. before th-
ey could finish the operation her heart st-
opped. ever since, he has felt like a failure.

worries about letting others down or being the reason
some gets hurt; every loss is more weight on her sho
ulders. despite her anxious behavior, she’s a gallant l
eader. when she’s not spending her time being a lead

exploded an so often she finds herself writing about it

often reflections of avian's. atlas
has a lot of faith in his older broth
