Artifice has sleek, pale skin that appears polished and untouched until you look a little deeper. You'll find ugly scars imprinted on various parts of her body, all of which she does her very best to conceal. Her hair is a brimful carmine, lighting up under the influence of the sun like a match. Her eyes are resemble liquid metal; bright silvery, and very calculating. She has a rather heart shaped face and a curvy body, but that's not something she ever finds relevance in. Her distaste for compliments is very evident if you attempt to provide one. She's about 5''5, and uses it to her advantage. It gives her the advantage of being agile. She well trained in the arts of hand-to-hand combat, although she still has many years of training ahead of her. Artifice can easily get into your head and spin it any which way if she pleases, but mostly uses that for her missions. She's not afraid to go whichever way is necessary. Some have said they fear she'll lose her humanity some day.

To sum up her personality in short, she can come off as very detached in domesticated settings such as a simple dinner, or maybe during a walk. The reality of regular citizens evades her, creating a sort of disbelonging feeling. She doesn't know anything about being normal. Genuinely normal. Sh'es very calculated with her missions, and seems to release all morals while on them to attain completion. The death of her parents occurred at the age of 11, afterwhich she was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters. She ended up finding favor in the eyes of her mentor, and began training young. She's highly skilled in martial arts and self-defense, but occasionally finds herself envying those with powers beyond what she could ever hope to achieve. She can deliver words that boil and scorch when offended or pissed off, and revenge isn't something beneath her. So you may want to beware. Seldom does she feel awkward. In fact confidence is something that she holds, though not to a big-headed point. She can put on any face for any reason, which is what makes her so good at what she does. Sometimes this leaves her wondering what person she really is, though. Very few people know Artifice's true name. She conceals it due to her distaste for drawing close with others. It gives her a layer of comfort to know they can never break the barrier of something simple as knowing her name. She's extraordinarily distrusting given her knowledge of how people can fake themselves entirely, even questioning her mentor from time to time. On the softer sides of her, she can laugh and mess around with you if you push hard enough. She's fiercely protective. Also, you may notice how maternal she can be when there's a young kid around. She knows what it's like not to have someone to braid your hair for you or wipe your tears and put a bandaid on your knee when you scrape it.

himself. mari is the most approachable person on
the team, by far. her position is more unspoken than
officially appointed, mainly because she has little to
no ability of actually making decisions. she's the one

peace, tactic and consideration over mindless attacks.
on the battlefield, mari is more likely to be giving first
aid then using her powers against the opponent. it's di-

Dante Berardi could hardly have been a better
match for protégé to his mutant mentor, Kitty
Pryde, in that he rivals her own ferocity, and,
of course, in the ability that allows him intan-
gibility by altering his molecules' density. Curr-
ently, he lives in Rochester, NY, to study at the
Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Despite his
enthusiasm in being able to have more indepen-
dence by being a part his own team, the Italian
is still irked by the fact that his peers will be or-
dering him around, due in part to both his defi-
ant nature and his incredibly picky approach in
deciding companions. He's routinely opposed to
any form of authority, often requiring a person
he respects or has taken a liking to to back up
an order for him act on it. It's become habitual
for him to play the devil's advocate just for the
sake of argument and debate, never content to
just let everything be agreeable for once. Still,
Dante's sharp wits and level head under pressure
mean that he's a valuable scout when he listens.

xxxxxxxmarisol is not used to people. she knows a few peers at school who are practically people-whisperers, and most of the time marisol respects their skill, but she doesn't really want it for herself. right now is one of the few exceptions. marisol would give pretty much anything to know what they think of her, a hispanic girl in rune-carved armor playing at hero when she can't even drive yet [she has her permit, okay? she's working on it]. she doubts the thoughts running through their minds are complimentary or anything better than demeaning. like, woah, there's a girl trained by only the most powerful psychic in the world, and the kids of five million big-name heroes. there are mutants and metahumans and people who might technically be "just human", but their abilities sure don't seem to be. and then there's her. the only thing superhuman about marisol arisoto outside of the armor is the amount of reese's peanut butter cups she can eat in a row without making herself sick [thirty-seven at last count]. you can't blame her for being a little nervous.
xxxxxxxokay, who is she kidding? marisol's a lot nervous. her clothes feel uncomfortably warm. she can't pay attention, which really isn't like her and stands as a testament to her nerves. the feeling of clammy palms is both unfortunately familiar and incredibly unpleasant. she focuses on the discomfort, using it to tune back into her surroundings.

"spend time getting to know each other, because you'll need familiarity in the field. it's essential." he waves his hand at them, the obviously divided group of protégés. "mingle. move around. don't stand in the corner." a moment passes in which a grand total of no one moves. captain america gives them this horribly disappointed look, and wow, would you look at that, everyone starts shifting like they were just unfrozen [ha], turning to their neighbors with resigned expressions.
xxxxxxxbecause the thing is, it's not like they've met before. sure, marisol's heard of a few of her new teammates, and maybe caught a glimpse of them once or twice, but she's never really spoken to any of them, let alone worked with them. a few of the others don't have this issue. there's a brother-sister pair whose relation is obvious from the way they stick to each other like their shoulders have been superglued together, and a couple of the guys seem to know each other, or at least do a really good job pretending. everyone else is standing in their own little pocket of space, rotating to face the person closest to them. marisol figures she should probably do the same – she's a leader, or something, right? she should be setting a good example. something as basic as introductions really shouldn't be beyond her capabilities.

xxxxxxxshe rotates to the person nearest her and offers him the best smile she can muster. with the way her nerves are currently jangling it probably looks like she's in excruciating pain. "hel-lo," marisol says, already hating the way her voice sounds, at least an octave too high and somewhat shaky. "i'm marisol – amenazo, i guess." she draws out her codename into all four syllables. you would not believe the amount of people who can't figure out how to pronounce it without adopting a terrible southern accent. "protégé of, uh, blue beetle. not the dead one."
