xx. joseph andrew lamb was your typical eighteen year old.
he was smart, and he had a scholarship to Harvard as well as a one-way ticket out of his hometown by the time he had finished highschool. yet, no matter how normal he might have seemed, people still found a way to push his buttons and call him out on things he already hated about himself. so, for all of his short life he was constantly bullied about the smallest flaws. his height, his hair, his brain..anything kids could throw at him. one day, it finally took its toll, and on december second, two thousand fourteen, he thought he was finally getting accepted as a person by someone he cared for. so what he thought was a midnight date with a pretty girl, was actually a setup pulled by the football team. him and the girl had driven in the dark, to the town lake; and when they got there, joe was pulled out of the car...and eventually pushed into the freezing, dark waters of the black lake.
they didnt know he couldnt swim.
and he wish he couldve seen their faces when he didnt surface and they had discovered what they had done.
but no, it was quite the opposite. it took a while for joe to actually come out of shock, and he awoke at the side of the lake the next morning, watching the police pull his body to shore.

OH SHE'S A GOOD GIRL, SHE'S DADDY'S FAVORITE
meet eva nation, the girl with
a sweet smile and a horrifying
past. she was always a bright
and smily person, but it all
came crashing down on her
when her mother was murdered
by her father, and brother ran
away at twelve. she was left
alone, in a world of misery until
she decided to put it all to end,
by killing herself. all she is now is
an angry girl- a depressed girl.
yes it's true, eva was a very truly
happy person. but the sun still sets
in paradise. ever since her mom,
the only woman in the house and
basically the only woman she could
trust died, she finally realized she
needed to change to succeed. so she
did- did things more ruthlessly and
with force rather than with her wits,
and sadly that's not the smartest
thing to do. but she's strong- maybe.

HE SAVED FOR HARVARD, HE KNOWS SHE'LL MAKE IT

Image

EVERY NIGHT SHE STUDIES HARD IN HER ROOM
long blonde hair, tanned skin and dark hazel colored eyes- you'd
think she's a model, if she was still alive. but she's not, dead, a
ghost that's more lost than a mouse in a maze. she's trapped
herself in a void of emotions, and the true beauty she holds is
hidden beneath many other doubts and worries. her frame is thin,
holding about one hundred twenty pounds of weight, which is not
a lot compared to her age- still stuck at eighteen, when she died
in '84. she still has her trails of endless misery hidden in the
aqua colored orbs of her own. she tries desperately to find her
way out of the mansion and into a better place, but fails. if only
she could take the time to sit down, soothe herself, and let it out.

AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT HER PARENTS ASSUME

you are the reason im the best i'll be
the boy known as someone who
could never grow up, a quiet
but controlled man who knows
what's right from what's wrong,
someone who has his head on
his shoulders at all costs, someone
you can trust. but he was like the
moon- part of him was always
hidden. and sometimes this can
be a very, very bad thing.
oliver's death wasn't something people
mourned about. stepping on a
needle in the streets is never
expected- drugs were a very un-
common thing in fresno california,
1967. but it happened- it was
quick, and oliver couldn't handle
the things that were injected into
him. he hadn't even seen it coming.

oliver never really cared about his appearance- he was a smart
boy, planning on going to a big college and had a great future
ahead of him, he was sure of it. having short yet choppy blonde
hair that covered his face and light blue eyes was a charm,
but he was never a ladies man. self-respected and indulged in
his future, he hadn't really had the time to worry about anything
else. he hadn't even had time to think after his death- didn't have
time to panic or scream for help. it just went fuzzy after that-
they had injected the whole needle. his heart and dreams- gone.

words words words words
i bet you're hoping to read of a
heroic boy who saved his little
sister from some great terror.
sadly, no. that's not my story.
i kind of wish it was, maybe
i'd actually be remembered for
it. nope. my story isn't all that
flashy. my family and i plus a
few friends had been out on
the lake. we'd all been goofing
off, having a grand time. my
older cousin, braxton, who had
newly turned twenty-one at the
time was, of course, basking in
his new privileges. nobody had
taken a second glance when the
boy hopped on the jetski. it was
only when they heard the engine
cut suddenly that they noticed.
i had been in the water.
and now? i'm still here. you see,
i had promised my sister i would
terrorize any of the little punks
she dated while in high school.
it's a good thing she's about to
graduate, i'm getting a bit bored.

GEMMA CONNERS
━━━━━━━━━ SECOND IN COMMAND ━━
☆ · tagged ridley, oliver · ☆ · located webster mansion · ☆

"it''s just not fair, y'know?" gemma complained, her voice
echoing throughout the empty room. she was sprawled across a
ratty brown couch next to ridley, who seemed just a bored as
she was. gem had taken it upon herself to start a conversation,
except it really only consisted of her grumblings about the newb-
ies. "i'm seventy-nine years old, i should at least know my purp-
ose by now. i don't want to watch another batch of kids come
and go. it sucks,"
the raven-haired girl muttered. it was the same
thing she repeated everytime a new soul came through their little
home. even though her jealousy overflowed each time one of the
one month or one year ghosts moved on, she was still worked
her butt off to help them through it. what else could she do to
pass the time? haunting and nagging at humans who venture into
the mansion grows tiring after ten or fifteen years. after letting
out a big, exasperated sigh, gemma sat up and brushed the gath-
ering dust off her shirt. she was about to continue her rant when
she heard a slam downstairs, signalling that someone had just
entered. voices wafted up through the empty halls, ones that she
didn't recognize. it was presumably another group of overly curi-
ous teenagers looking for a bit of 'fun'. wandering around a hau-
nted mansion wasn't considered fun back when gemma was alive,
that's for sure.

she glanced at ridley before standing up to go and look at who
was causing all the noise. as one of the oldest ghosts around,
gemma hadn't opened an actual door in over twenty years. it was
easy enough to just go through wall to wall. the second in com-
mand peered cautiously over the ledge near the grand staircase.
her attention was on the intruders for a short moment before so-
meone else caught her eye. oliver had come out of the room
across from where she was lounging with ridley, probably to come
check out who had entered as well. he had died only a few days
before, but gem had taken an instant liking to his childish nature.
plus, he was much cuter than most of the newbies that had come
through recently. "this is your first time seeing a bunch of humans
come through, right?"
she asked, a small smile creeping on her
lips. of course it was, she just wanted to start a conversation.
ZANE HAWTHORNE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HUMAN PSYCHIC ━━
☆ · tagged evie, ghosts upstairs · ☆ · located entrance hall · ☆
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

the webster mansion was infamous for all of the spooky,
paranormal activity that supposedly surrounded it. zane
had heard these stories since he entered elementary
school. his classmates had plenty of tales to tell about
when their older siblings had ventured into the isolated
house. it was almost like a rite of passage for every teen
who lived in tiny little webster. survive a night there and
you'll be a legend back at school. except, that wasn't why
he was standing outside of the old, wooden door. zane
had something to prove. if the mansion was actually
haunted, the boy had a hunch he would know instantly.
his entire life has been full of strange happenings that
revolved around supposed ghosts. the brunet always noti-
ced when one was around. they'd be either floating, or
simply walking through walls and not a single person around
would pay them any mind. as a child, zane would talk ab-
out these ghosts all the time, until he realized it wasn't
normal.

"ready, evie?" the young man asked quietly. his voice
hardly raised above a whisper, but it seemed much too loud
for the eery silence that surrounded them. was he scared?
zane didn't know. his heart was punding out of his chest and
his hands were shaking, but he didn't feel like there was
anything to fear behind the looming walls. without waiting for
his companion's answer, he pushed the heavy door open. it
let out a large, drawn out creak. he didn't move for a mome-
nt, hesitantly glancing into the empty mansion. it was huge,
bigger than he had originally imagined. a large, decorated hall
lay in front of them, leading up to a curved grand staircase.
the whole place was utterly quiet and seemingly abandoned.
his feet moved on their own, taking cautious steps onto the
dusty rug that was sprawled from the entrance way. suddenly,
there was a faint murmur from the right side of the stairs. he
couldn't tell if it was just a critter or voices. maybe someone else
had decided to stake out the mansion as well. zane shifted closer
to evie before calling out, "is... is anyone there?"

[J O L E E] mood: chummy location: webster mansion tagged: payton death date: 1973
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx✧▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬✧
the complaining from gemma didn't do much to falter jolee's usual warm expressions, and the girl
was practically bursting with excitement as for meeting the next set of new souls to visit their
mansion. she was aware of the common time limit that came with a newcomer and they would
later pass on to the next place they had to be, but she always looked at the bright side and
knew that she was lucky to have met them at all. also, at least somebody was being allowed the
luxury to pass on and she was overjoyed for those fortunate souls. though she had to admit, she
was a bit irritated with gemma's complaining. everything can't be fair in life and you need to
suck it up please, she wanted to say, but of course she couldn't say that since that wasn't who
she was and she wouldn't change herself to just simply hurt another.

not exactly feeling like wanting to converse with gemma, she sent ridley a friendly smile before
exiting the empty room that contained nothing more than a trashy couch. it was depressing and
if one dwelled on it for too long they would feel the rooms' sadness as well. a slam from
downstairs and unrecognizable voices wafted up from the deserted halls. her heart sped up as
she became thrilled with the thought that it could be the new spirits. as she made her way
toward the sounds, she accidentally bumped into payton.
"oop, sorry payt. i just... you heard
the noises from downstairs too, right?
she asked curiously. the boy was considered one of her
good pals and she always felt undeniably comfortable around him, even if he could be a sour
creature at times.

mercy didn't know what to do anymore. it's been so long since she was actually seventeen. she stopped counting after ten, twenty years. it was always the same deal, ghosts came and went, but somehow, she just couldn't move on. deep inside, mercy believed she still deserved a life, after all that she's done. the raven haired girl thought all of her vengeance would fade after she killed her own killer, but it didn't. sometimes it seemed like she was going a bit crazy, the bloodlust was unbearable at times. she was one of the oldest ghosts in the mansion, gemma, the second in command, had died only two years before mercy. they became best friends after a few years, they had so much in common. at least ghosts didn't age, if they did, she'd look like a seventy-five year old crone. the though scared the life (ironically) out of her. mercy looked into the champagne glass laying on the table, even though ghosts don't drink or eat, just having it there made her feel more human. she stared at her reflection as it rippled in the water. at least she still had her pale complexion and stunning grey eyes, people always complimented her on her eyes back in the fifties.
the ghost sat on the blue velvet couch staring at the white wall. she felt so numb. ever since mercy learned to control her ghostly power, she hasn't felt the need to touch anything.
suddenly, she heard the front door creak. that was fairly unusual, either some new ghost appeared or a human wandered in. humans weren't really a problem to the residents of the haunted mansion, they couldn't see them. often they were just teens looking to prove themselves. it always ended with them running out, scared to death.
mercy walked through the wall, finding herself looking down at the main entrance. "humans?" she asked gemma with a slightly bored expression on her face.

TO WATCH ME WHILE I BLEED?

oliver had always been terrified of the idea of death. nobody knew when it could come, and he thought he would live to be old, trying to be cautious and makeshift but also having fun with life, begging to keep going when his time had come to join the rest in the mansion. he thought there was an eternal peace for the human- like a long sleep. but this was much worse. sitting in his room, the clocking ticking to a monotone beat, his emerald green eyes had focused on the ceiling as he tried to grasp onto the concept that he was dead. it was too much to take in- he didn't know which was worse. the fact that there where others dead like him, or that they were stuck here. he swallowed, realizing he had been shaking and loosened his grip on the bed sheets. even though he was a young adult, he felt tears forming in the back of his eyes, empty and hollow orbs that fought to show emotion. letting out a long breath of air, like wind sweeping through a hallway he slowly lifted himself of the bed, staggering a bit as black dots danced in front of his eyes. stepping out of the room, he looked out to find gemma there. his eyes softened, and the corners of his lips shifted into a smile. he had grown a fond liking to the girl, no doubt about it, and felt much better that she was there with him.

"yeah. it's horrifying to watch them go through what we did- not like they have a choice though." he murmured, his eyes clouding over gently before he looked over at her, leaning against his door before the smile found it's way back onto his face, a pair of dimples forming between his cheeks. he was so ignorant, he hadn't even heard that she had been talking about people like him just a few doors down in the hallway moments before. but clueless as he was, he felt a strong burning feeling in his chest whenever she was around, and would be heartbroken to find out that it was probably only him feeling it. "but im glad to meet new people, i guess. i've never got to ask but.. how did you die?" he murmured, his eyes flashing with interest towards the petite girl.

RIDLEY CLASSEN
JUST A GHOSTLY BOY ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

plump pink lips quirked up into a devious smirk, something that ridley classen
was known for. despite being a member of the nonliving, he was quite the lively
fellow. his optimism was what kept him from completely loosing his marbles. well,
as sane as anyone can be after they see their own body being pulled from the lake
he used to know and love. that had been fifteen years ago, although he would always
remember it as if it were yesterday. the not-so-little town of kent, washington had
once been his home. he'd actually hung around there a short bit after he'd passed
away. he'd heard through the grapevine (or rather, the dead one) of a mansion in
webster, south dakota that was actively housing ghosts until they went on to a better
place. the idea of it was promising, but he couldn't just leave his family! that
was the reason he gave himself when he started leaving little hints, telling his sister
and parents to move out of state. it was quite the task actually. heck, he practically
had to place a 'home for sale' ad in front of his father before the man got any clue.

twelve years. ridley had been at the mansion for twelve long years now. watching as
new ghosts came and went. none of them ever really seemed to stay too long.
the brunette wasn't too sure if he was jealous of that or not. the promise of
a better place sounded nice, but how could anyone be so sure that's what it was?
what if it just lead to absolutely nothing? being a ghost sounded a lot better
than whatever oblivion could be waiting behind that golden door. he feared it,
he honestly did. the thought of not knowing where he was going to go scared
him. so, with that in mind - he was never too concerned with fulfilling himself
while still on earth. he had all the time he wanted, right? no need to rush.

"if it makes you feel any better, you carry your age very well. you don't
look a day over thirty-five."
ridley teased lightheartedly, soft hazel eyes
flickering over to catch a glance at the girl beside him. of course he was just
teasing gemma, trying to cheer her up as he always did. she often got worked
up about how people came and went, while she still had no idea of her purpose.
ridley himself was to see to it that his little sister found the 'right man', no matter
how long that took. he had made that promise to her long ago, before she'd
even been at the age of one. thinking back now, he should have went with
something easier. guys in this day and age were jerks. who knows how long
he'd have to stick around to see her finally happy.
"don't stress over it,
gem. i don't plan to pass on any time soon, giving me all the time in the
world to help you find your purpose. no matter how big or small it may be."

confidence was carried highly with ridley, always. others fed off of it, and so
did he at times. not everyone possessed his ability to keep a good mind. even
ridley got down in the dumbs here and there, but he rarely let that show through.
he was suppose to be the happy one. the flicker of hope that said 'this doesn't
necessarily have to be a bad thing.' sometimes it was quite questionable though.

the trembling sound of creaking wood and squeaky door was what brought the
eighteen-year-old back to his senses. well, that was particular. not completely
foreign though. it was actually quite often for teens to sneak about in the
mansion, for the thrill of scaring their friends. usually none of them got past the
front door, too frightened to continue. from time to time the ghosts would aide
in this, doing little things to freak them out. some got kicks from it, while a
few found their interference to be immature and petty. with a huff ridley got to
his feet, only pausing for a moment before walking through a couple walls to get
to where george's room was. the two had instantly bonded, their similar attitudes
meshing well together and creating a duo of troublemakers.
"so, if i had to
bet, i'd say those noises are from humans. that, or some new ghosts disguised
as a herd of elephants. want to go investigate?"
the boy spoke, eyebrows
arching in question. what was the worst that could anyway?
