- xxTeyo had travelled a lot throughout his younger years, but he did have to say, out of all the small villages and towns he found himself in, Sitka Bay was by far the most flattering. As an overview, one could say there really wasnβt much to it: it was essentially a dome filled with man-made artifacts in the heart of a gigantic forest. But that was exactly what made it homey. It was easy to build a community and find a place within it. Social status came down not to economics but to the group of which you were a part, whether that be the pack, the coven, or simply just from the town itself. He wasnβt one to look down on the regular β dare he say normal β town residents. After all, he hadnβt always had this extra prodigious supernatural energy latched onto his physical presence. They added just as much charm to the place. They were the reason why this town was still standing, really. Teyo had only found himself in the area after his attack, out of desperation for not just a place of residence but also somewhere to find guidance in his new alter ego, essentially.
The almost ironic thing was how quickly Teyo had been able to adapt to the new changes, much to his surprise. They had come on rather quickly, all at once instead of building his tolerance up. It had seemed suiting, really, given all the things he had found himself battling over the years. But that newly lit spark within him had enhanced his confidence, pushed it perhaps to the point of cockiness β with all good intentions. Mostly. Unfortunately, what fueled him also added flames to the fire that was already burning up to their throats. It took Teyo a second to realize he had formed a soft scowl on his face, bitter from his pride that had ultimately sent him running with his tail tucked between his legs. It was pointless to reflect back on the past, to replay that blurry conversation (could one really call it that if it was just him spitting words at Ennis?) that resulted in a complete turn-around. It only weighed him down. And yet, if only it was that simple. Was he sorry? Yes, and Teyo wanted to believe that Ennis had enough of a heart to know that too. However, would he ever admit to his wrongdoing? That was almost laughable, in the most humourless way. Teyo was no stranger to his ultimate flaw; he had been told time and time again he could make things so much better if he just apologized and moved on. He could never bring himself to do it, though. The words built up in his throat, only to collapse into complete nothingness again. Sorry wouldnβt offer forgiveness in all those times he stole from stores or got himself caught up in what now felt like pointless fights, after all. Sorry was a foreign word in his vocabulary. Heβd only been able to muster it up once, with Cyrus. Something about his energy almost felt protecting, reassuring in a way that made Teyo fully realize that heβd come out of the other side of the conversation as the same person he was going into it. Teyo felt himself shed so many layers of himself that it was as if he underwent a theoretical metamorphosis on a monthly basis. And yet he felt no better about himself now than he did just a few months ago.
What he was feeling good about, however, was the thick snowflakes that were beginning to block out the overhead street lights. Teyo enjoyed the cold weather. He also found a snowy setting peaceful. The way the snow blocked out extraneous sounds, how everything became muffled and seemingly slower in movement, it was different than the chaotic life he lived. Teyo often stopped to appreciate the small things nature had to offer β yet another thing he wouldnβt dare to admit to a group of his friends. It sounded stupid when he said it out loud. But that didnβt stop him from doing it. However, at this current moment, he was beginning to realize that things werenβt as silent as he was expecting. In fact, Teyo didnβt even have to be in truly turned form for his wolf senses to prick up on the vibrations of sound coming from around him. He could hear the shaky, shallow breathing, the crunch of the snow beneath the boots that belonged to a well-built individual. And the faintest smell of cypress, fresh against the nippy winter air. Teyo knew it well. He could practically taste it on his tongue. He could feel his hackles rising instantly; he had become prey, and his predator was fast approaching.
His head whipped around at the same time his name was spoken aloud, brows furrowed downward and arms half outstretched, prepared to defend himself from an attack. But nothing followed. In fact, Ennis seemed to be the one in the weaker position, based on how he was struggling to catch his breath. Teyo found himself straightening, a confused yet suspicious look painted across his features as he stood in front of the other man. βEnnis,β he returned, voice wary, though not curt. Despite the feud between them and the fact that Teyo was no longer part of Ennisβ responsibility, Ennis was an alpha. He was Teyoβs at one point. The least he could do was act respectfully. Still, a dark cloud of resentment seemed to loom over him, until β
βWhat?β The words spewed from his tongue, and he stared at Ennis for a heartbeat too long, half expecting the man to admit to a bit he was doing. They had fought, Ennis had said. Is that so? Part of Teyo wanted to cheer for Rahul; yeah, thatβs my boy. But a bigger part overshadowed that thought, and his eyes shot to the ground, although realistically, he doubted Rahulβs bloody trail would just happen to be in sight. Surely there was a slight spark of curiosity lingering in Teyoβs gaze as he locked eyes with Ennis once more. If he didnβt feel such a thick shield of protection over Rahul he might have felt smug, perhaps sprinkled with a bit of satisfaction over the fact that he seemed to have the upper hand. βWell, what the ββ he cut himself off abruptly, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers. There was no point in getting into the details of the incident, if Ennis would even reveal them. βFine.β He bit back a sigh, one that could have been of relief as much as it could have been from frustration. βDid you see him take off at all? I havenβt seen any signs of him, but then againβ¦β His face dropped, almost semi-sarcastically. βI havenβt been searching.β Any and all jokes aside, Teyo found himself pondering over where Rahul could have possibly fled. It was hard to come to a confident conclusion. Rahul could have easily disregarded his wounds with a few beverages, but he could have also found himself a stray near a medical clinic. The latter seemed a bit more debatable, although Teyo really didn't know the extent of the wounds he was struggling with, if any. βBased on... whatever happened, where do you think he would've gone? Or maybe the better question is, where wouldn't he have ended up? By choice, βcourse.β
