The night had found Magnus in the best mood in awhile. For the first time in what felt like forever his joints didn't ache and there was a spring to step. So as he had taken the opportunity to pack a small bag of the things he would need that day while waiting for the night arrive. The journey to Wilson wasn't too bad but it was always easier and more fun to wolf it there during the night. The wait for night to arrive had been the longest wait in years. While he was no stranger to Wilson and often spent several days a week up there, there was still something special about going up there for the winter. Maybe it was the change in scenery or maybe it was the fact that they had more space to themselves up there. Whatever the reason he had paced restlessly in his room all day, peering out the window impatiently waiting for the sun to start to set. The moment it had started to set he had gathered his things and slipped out of the house, he didn't want to be around the others right now. With his strange cold he had been more irritable than usual and he had even attempted to attack a packmate. The fear of it happening again had been enough to keep him apart from the rest of the pack as much as possible. Even while feeling as good as he did now he didn't want to put them in any danger. Magnus had found a spot by the edge of the woods, his bones creaking and cracking and breaking until the form of a wolf stood in the place of the man. Dipping his head he slipped his head under the shoulder strap and jostled around until the bag was hanging as comfortably as possible on his shoulders.

Magnus' first foot steps forward were hesitant until the wolf stirred within him, urged out by the promise of the run. Pushing forward to the front Magnus found himself being pressed back, still aware of what was happening but no longer in control of his limbs. It took a moment but soon the wolf was soundlessly streaking through the snow, a joyful step to each stride. The wolf barely twitched as a new scent wafted towards them only moments before the familiar dark shape of Seraphina's wolf sprinted into view. Playfully Magnus shouldered the larger wolf's side and nipping at her jaw before picking up the pace and racing away. Only the pounding of feet behind him told him that the wolf had taken him up on his unspoken challenge to a race. Together the two wolves raced through the night throwing up snow in their wake. It had been awhile since they had been able to go all out. All too soon the familiar sight of the cabins were coming into view. Magnus charged forward completely unaware of the dark wolf slowing down and coming to halt just inside the tree line. Instead he carried on, slightly more cautious and careful then his reckless run here. It wasn't until his claws were tapping on the wood of the porch that he realized that he was alone and glanced back over his shoulder. The lone figure of Seraphina stared back at him from the tree line before she slowly melted back into the tree and vanished back the way they had come. For a moment he considered going after her but decided against it. If Phi wasn't ready to come to the cabins yet then he could respect that decision. Quietly he padded up to the door, negotiating with his wolf to be allowed to shift back to a human just long enough for him to unlock and open the door and step in. After that he had but a moment to lock the door before the wolf forced them to return to their four legged self. The only sound in the cabin was the tapping to claws against the wood floor as Magnus made his way into his bedroom. The wolf haphazardly dumped the duffle bag on the ground before curling up on the bed.

The smell of iron filled his nostrils and the sound of his heartbeat pounded in his ears but Magnus wasn't focused on either of those things. Instead his dark brown gaze was fixed on his trembling fingers, blood showing the depth of his crime coating his hands and weighing him down in ways he could have never imagined. His breath came in harsh gasps as tears dropping from his cheeks and mixing with the the stains on his hands in some morbid kind of art. His jaws parted to let out a howl of horror when his eyes were suddenly snapping open, for a moment Magnus couldn't really make out what was in front of him. When the wall of the cabin finally came into focus he recoiled in shock and regretted it almost immediately as he found himself throwing himself off his bed and rapping his head harshly against his nightstand. As he lay on the ground his eyes still round with shock and fixed on the ceiling, his breathing slowly returned to normal. It had all been a dream, he didn't know when his wolf had fallen asleep but they had evidently decided to sleep a little. He must of shifted in his sleep or maybe he had shifted before he had fallen asleep, he couldn't say. Drawing in a deep breath Magnus shakily got to his feet, staggering out of his bedroom not really caring how crazy he must look. His feet lead him to the kitchen where he went into auto pilot as he prepared his morning cup of coffee. Robotically pouring the drink into a mug he gave given a quick rinse too. He had then shuffled out the door, pausing to stuff his feet in slippers, and onto the porch. It was only a few more steps to the table and chair that sat in the corner of the porch looking out at the woods. Dropping heavily into the chair he lifted the mug to his lips and took a sip. His dark gaze didn't leave the woods once, the rest of the pack would be there soon.
