of hope

Long ago the worlds of man and fey lived together in harmony. For centuries the two worlds coexisted and in the middle of these two worlds was the kingdom of Asiali. Though it was located in the human world it was closely linked with that of the fey for surrounding the capital was a huge forest many called the forest of the lost and it was said that inside were portals to the otherworld. Using the bridges to the otherworld The Asiali family became the diplomats for the human race to interact with the fey. As centuries passed, however, Fey began to fade from the world of man, their existence dismissed as mere stories spun by the fire to entertain children. Even in Asiali their longtime allies and friends were beginning to forget them and so the Fey decided that they would disappear altogether from the world of man. Before they left, however, the old Fey bestowed upon the Asiali family a prophecy so that should conflict ever arise between the two worlds there would always be hope:

"ten figures stand against
the darkness that can now be sensed
with each a part to play
they must dive into the fray
to find the way in the dark
will require the five who can see the mark
the man of strength and honour to lead
must forever remember his creed
a child with eyes that can not see
shall lead the way through misery
with the soul of a warrior so strong and bold
she will find the sword of gold
the one made for adventure and pleasure
must resist the temptation of his most precious treasure
bounding through life so wild and free
she will try to outrun the sea
next is the man with many words to write
who by journeys end must learn to fight
for the one who values brains
to risk poison in her veins
with the magic in his fingers
through hopes and dreams lingers
a babe of beauty and grace
will betray the rest to her disgrace
the last is a true child of the woods
who can see through another's falsehoods
together they shall concur all
and if they fail all shall fall"

As time passed the prophecy and the Fey all passed into legend. Then one day a dark cloud settled itself over the kingdom casting every living thing into darkness, a sign of great evil. While the people of Asiali prepared for the worse no one was prepared for what was to come. From the forest of the lost on a stallion of blackest night rode aa fey claiming to be an emissary of the new Fey King with a message for the humans of Asiali; leave or face our wrath. Refusing this supposed kings demand and sending the emissary back to where he came from the people of Asiali waited in fear for what was to come. It began slowly at first, the disappearance of a merchant, the failing of a crop, the drying of a well, as problem after the problem began to pile up it was apparent that these were not a coincidence. Now the kingdom is falling, fading into ruin and with no hope left all eyes to turn to the prophecy and the ten saviours to see if they are truly the last light.

asiali map- x
otherworld map- x
bridges- in order to travel from the human world to the otherworld one must cross a bridge in the forest of the lost. These bridges appear to be built by the nature that surrounds them, live branches grown into steady bridges across streams and ditches. Often one may see a bridge like this appear in one spot but then the next day it would have utterly disappeared. If one crosses such a bridge unwittingly they could be lost in the otherworld for eternity, the only ways back from the otherworld would be to cross a similar bridge.
prophecies- given by the old ones a prophecy is not a prediction of the future, rather it is a rule of sorts set upon a person or persons and when it's qualifications are met the prophecy becomes the future. If a prophecy states that you will die if you stroke a black cat on the night of a full moon and on the night of a full moon you do so you will die. Many are unaware that a prophecy has been placed upon them and even if they are aware it becomes incredibly difficult to decipher the true meaning behind the words.
fey- only one of the creatures that inhabit the otherworld the fey are by far the most powerful. Capable of living for thousands of years fey are the oldest and wisest of creatures but can also be the most vindictive and cruel. With no concept of death or mortality, it's difficult for the fey to share common ground with humans. Fey also possess magic which can often prove to be a curse or a blessing for anyone who goes to deal with the creatures.

caoimhe the free, one

Postby Speak » Sat Jun 09, 2018 4:25 pm

caoimhe.asiali

the free

[gender] female [age] nineteen [title] princess [ location ] city square -> forest [ tagged ] sisters (mentioned)

The afternoon sun was high in the sky and yet despite that fact, there was an unusual coldness in the air, like a little bit of the cities colour had been drained away. It'd only been a week since the dark fey rider had delivered his ultimatum and ever since Asiali had begun to encounter catastrophe after catastrophe plunging the entire kingdom into peril. The only hope apparently being an ancient prophecy that hardly anyone remembered, passed through stories and legend Caoimhe wasn't even sure if the prophecy that her parents had told her was the one that the fey had given to her ancestors. Despite this or perhaps because of it the king and queen had decided to organize a celebration. Something to keep the spirits of the people up and reassure them that everything was fine, but of course, it wasn't.
Brushing away a strand of hair Caoimhe looked out past the market towards the forest, she practically itched to leave the crowd of people behind her and run away. In all the festivities it wasn't like anyone would miss her, she wasn't the girl you looked to for leadership. No matter how hard she tried to be the perfect little princess it seemed that her heart had other ideas. It didn't take the princess long before she reached the edge of the crowd, looking back she could just barely make out her sisters figures all participating in one way or another in the days' festivities.
Something catching her crystalline blue eyes Caoimhe's attention was captured by a small figure at the edge of the forest. Barely reaching above her knee it appeared to be an amalgamation of sticks and stones, something human and yet clearly not. It was nothing the princess had ever seen before and yet it seemed familiar almost as if it had always been there and she'd just now recognized it. Though she couldn't see what it was the figure seemed to be busy scrawling something in the dirt that she couldn't make out.
"Strange isn't it?" a voice asked just behind the young woman. Not normally startled Caoimhe whipped around and was faced with a beautiful woman who could've walked out of one of the old tales of adventure, heroism, and romance. Almost rendered speechless Caoimhe opened her mouth to reply but the woman shook her head, "if you want to save your kingdom I'd suggest following that thing." the woman told her waving her hand dismissively towards the creature made of sticks and stones.
Turning back the red-haired princess had enough time to watch the creature run back into the trees, "Wait!" even before the word had left her lips Caoimhe was already running, her forest green skirts gathered in her hands she took off. The forest was a blur around her as she chased after the figure who had become almost a blur of sticks and stones. It was clear that whatever it was it wasn't a creature from this world. If she could catch it then maybe, just maybe it could give her answers. Practically flying through the forest Caoimhe could feel her heart ramming against her ribcage and ringing in her ears. Between the trees, Caoimhe could just make out the creature as it ran across the trunk of a tree that had managed to grow straight across a stream. The warnings of her childhood forgotten Caoimhe charged after the creature ignoring, or perhaps not seeing, the symbol carved into the trunk.
Landing on the opposite bank Caoimhe found herself coming to a halt, this was not the forest she'd walked through all her life. Red locks of hair falling from their plaits and cascading over her shoulder Caoimhe allowed herself time to breathe and recognize her surroundings. The trees were different, larger, more ancient, almost foreboding a word that the young princess would've never used to describe the forest of the lost. Taking a step back Caoimhe turned to go back to the tree but it was no longer there, neither was the stream. Half-hidden behind one of the towering trees was the same creature that had lured her here "bounding through life so wild and free, she will try to outrun the sea..." its' voice was garbled, raspy barely choking out words from its' twiggen throat. Before she could ask it anything, however, the twig figured disappeared leaving Caoimhe alone in an endless expanse of trees.

Aria, The Blind, 1

Postby _Denym_ » Sat Jun 09, 2018 11:36 pm

Aria Asiali
The blind

Age:23|Gender: Female|Location: Fair-->Otherworld|Tags: open, Caoimhe[mentioned]

Aria sat on a bench at the edge of the fair, the forest behind her. she of course knew why her parents were throwing the fair, anyone could work that out, which is why she was surprised to hear everyone happy and enjoying themselves, as if the fey hadn't just delivered an ultimatum of war. Panem et circus she thought to herself, and decided that if no one else was going to worry about the fey right now, it would do her no good to worry about it either. So, she sat back and tried to relax, feeling the breeze on her skin, and the gentle warmth of the sunlight on her face. She was wearing a mid length dress that Sophia had chosen for her. She wasn't sure about it, it wasn't the most comfortable dress she owned, but Sophia had insisted it looked god, and Aria trusted her judgment in that regard. She found herself smiling at the memory of this morning and laughed to herself guess it works she thought. By the sound of things, she would guess that everyone in the city was here, enjoying the festivities and forgetting the threat of the fey. Maybe it is better that way she thought, They can't change anything. That's apparently down to us Aria wasn't sure about this prophecy. It sounded made up, something her parents came up with to make them think they were all destined for something great. Just at that moment, she heard someone approach her from behind

Aria, Come quick, it's Caoimhe! Aria didn't recognise the voice, but her concern for her sister clouded her better judgement. What? what happened, is she hurt? Aria demanded, cursing her sister's disregard for safety and wishing she could have just stayed at the fair. There was plenty of adventure to be had here with the stalls and people everywhere. Just come with me, quickly! We don't have much time! The voice responded. Had she been given more time to think, had she thought more clearly, she would have wondered why this person had come to her for help, why they hadn't gone to Riona instead, but her concern and fear for her sister blocked out all other thoughts. She grabbed the hood of the mysterious person, and together they ran towards the forest. The forest! of course! oh god, Caoimhe what have you done she thought to herself. Suddenly, the person dashed forward, pulling away from her grip, and leaving her stranded. She listened for footsteps to follow but heard nothing. Hey, where did you go? she yelled. People don't just disappear like that. Suddenly it hit her. Caoimhe was not in danger, the person was not real, and now, she was alone in the middle of the forest. She heard footsteps, human footsteps, and called out for help. The voice that responded was not human. It was softer, it carried power. This was a Fey. Follow my voice, I will guide you to safety

Well, that's definitely a lie Aria thought to herself, but what choice did she have? It was this Fey, or whatever beasts waited for her in the forest. So, she followed the Fey, brushing her hands on the trees she passed to give her some sense of where she was, trying desperately to calm her mind. They must have drawn her into the forest on purpose, knowing only something like one of her sister's being in danger would make her risk her safety like this. suddenly, Aria froze. This forest felt different. Ancient, powerful, dark. She didn't know why or how, but she knew that in that one step the forest had changed. Before she could question the Fey, it spoke A child with eyes that cannot see, shall lead the way through misery With that, it ran away, faster than Aria could hope to follow. She stood, overwhelmed. She was alone in another world, blind, no one knew she was here, and she had no idea what dangers lay in these woods. What could she do? she backed into a tree, slid down it, and sat on the forest floor, hoping help would come from somewhere.

Tobias, The Healer, 1

Postby _Denym_ » Sun Jun 10, 2018 12:32 am

Tobias Asiali
The Healer

Age:18|Gender: Male|Location: Fair-->Otherworld|Tags: open

Tobias hated large groups of people. well, he liked people, he just didn't like lots of them all at once. Everyone has something that's hurting them, maybe not much, maybe a lot, maybe they've gotten used to it. Tobias felt it all. It was worse when they were closer to him, in big crowds, everyone is close to each other, and closer to Tobias than he would like. He was the healer, he had to be here. That's the other thing about crowds of people, there's always a fight at some point, when someone feels they've been scammed, or something insignificant like that. He didn't understand people's need for violence, the constant fighting. How could they cause others pain like that? He stopped pondering the human psyche and scrambled up a tree on the edge of the forest. He was close enough to the fair here that any major injury that required his immediate attention, he would probably feel and could get to. he pulled one of his knives out of it's sheath and started throwing it, trying to flip it twice before catching it. Just as he went to throw it, a man below him dropped a box on his foot, breaking one of his toes. Tobias flinched as he threw the knife up, which caused it to go flying into the forest behind him. Oh man, thats gonna be tough to find He said to himself, before jumping out of tree and hurrying to the man.

Tobias usually carried a satchel with him to keep whatever supplies he needed, generally food and drink to keep his energy up, and it thumped against his thigh as he ran. A small crowd had gathered around the man, who was yelling as he held his foot. Tobias gritted his teeth, the pain getting more intense as he approached him. The crowd noticed him and parted. People here respected him but tended to be wary of him no one trusts a magic user he thought. Crouching next to the man, Tobias reassured him that he was going to be fine, he just needed him to relax. Taking off the mans boot was a painful affair, and Tobias gave him the hilt of his remaining knife to bite down on, Healing would hurt, and he didn't want him biting his tongue. Taking a deep breath, Tobias placed his hands over the injury and focused. His hands started to glow, the people around him gasping, some surprised, some scared, some gazing in wonder. A golden-yellow energy flowed from his hands to the wound, and the pain got more intense as the bone set and the muscle knitted back together. In a few seconds, there was nothing left. Tobias relaxed, the glowing stopped, and the worst of the pain was gone. He took his knife back, and accepted the man's thanks, as well as his offer of honey bread, although he turned down the pheasant the man offered him- Tobias felt animals' pain as well, and eating them felt wrong to him. He left the crowd behind and, eating half of the honey bread he'd been given and storing the other half in his satchel after wrapping it in wax paper, Headed into the forest to find his knife.

The bread helped him regain some energy, and Tobias soon felt much better as he wandered the forest, trying to guess where he had thrown his knife. The wind through the forest somehow felt ominous as it ruffled his hair and flattened his loose shirt flat against his chest. This has to be an omen for something he said to himself. He could get another knife, he'd been saving whatever people offered as payment for healing. Or, he said, I could wait for the blacksmith to hurt himself again, shouldn't take too long He chuckled. As he was about to turn back, He saw something flash like a metal object reflecting the sun. He perked up and bounded towards it, jumping over a fallen log in his way. He found his knife embedded in a tree just under a mysterious symbol. He pulled it out of the tree and slid it back into the sheath on his back. Strange He thought, looking at the brambles in front of him. They'd grown over each other creating a kind of tunnel through the centre of them. He glanced back at the fair, barely feeling anything he was so far from it now. I'm sure they'll be fine without be for a bit he thought, and ducked to walk through it. The thorns caught on his face an hands, but soon he was through. He stood up, feeling the small cuts sealing. Glancing at his hands he saw the golden lines vanish and turn to skin. He turned back around, but the tunnel was gone. Wait i just came through that. Am I going crazy? He frowned and spun around. This forest felt different to him. Suddenly he cried out, clutching at his head and collapsing to the ground. This was a pain unlike anything he had felt before. Through it he heard a voice in his head With the magic in his fingers, through hopes and dreams lingers. As quickly as it had come, it was gone. He took a deep breath a pulled himself to his feet. What have I gotten myself into? He thought. Looking around, the forest was empty. there was nothing else to do, he picked a direction, adjusted the satchel over his shoulder and started making his way through the forest

───────( SAOIRSE)───────
tagged: caoimhe (mentioned), open

For the many months after the dark cloud settled heftily over Asiali, Saoirse has spent her time with her nose in books in the royal library. With ancient page after ancient page, she felt as if she grew close to figuring out however they had wronged the fey and why such misfortune was being cast upon them, but she felt so far with every dead end and lead cut short. There was a missing piece in the puzzle, she was sure, and Saoirse was beginning to come to terms with the fact that sometimes her books couldn’t record everything. Such a revelation was difficult to live with, but Saoirse did so begrudgingly, even as she clung to her knowledge with stiff fingers and white knuckles.

Today, while Saoirse would have liked to lock herself up in her room and hide behind stone bricks and elegant draperies, she had been forced to attend the festival merely for her appearance as a Princess of Asiali. Her long locks, red like fire, were strung up into an elaborate updo unbefitting of her tastes, and her body, although weak, was confined in a stiff dress only meant for looking at. She had compromised with her caretaker, in that she had brought a bag full of books to read at the festival, but little could be done to make any of it more enjoyable. She weaved her way through the teeming crowd, bumping along shoulders and torsos in her never ending search for a quiet spot in the corner. She broke away from the crowd, and at just the same time, she spotted Caoimhe’s glittering red hair disappearing into the forest. Saoirse let a groan slip from her lips and promptly balled her skirts up in her hands. Immediately, the red-haired bookworm gave chase.

Winding through the forest, Saoirse’s ankles caught on tree roots and elderberries and her arms were whipped by outstretched branches. The deep undergrowth only worked against her, serving as an enemy to her plight. Her heart pumped weakly against her ribs, threatening to spill from her chest, and her lungs inflated and deflated with fragile machinations. Saoirse stumbled to a stop just at the mouth of a yawning bramble tunnel, wheezing and huffing and puffing. Her mouth felt unimpeachably dry and her body screamed with fire, begging for rest and release in a warm bath or something of the likes. With hardly concealed anger, Saoirse tore her hair from it’s confines and let it spill over her shoulders, and kicked at the tree she leaned on. A moment of overflowing hate stewed in the great silence of the forest, before Saoirse rose from her humbled position and leaned into the bramble walkway. They scraped and tugged at her dress as she moved past them, and drew blood on her arms with every sharp movement, until Saoirse looked ragged and dishevelled. She arrived on the other side of the tunnel with a soft thump, and rolled into the soft, comforting grass.

A creature, constructed out of sticks, twigs, and bones, stared at her from a clump of sweet-smelling honeydew. Saoirse stared back with wonder, awe glittering in her gaze as her hand slowly reached back for her book bag, with it’s contents now strewn across the forest floor. Before her hand could clutch at the well-worn bindings of her notebook, the creature spoke with discordant tones, as if it had taken many other voices and forced them into one. ”For the one who values brains,” it began, the real words just barely audible beneath the garbled white noise. ”To risk poison in her veins.”

It disappeared just as soon as it had appeared, but Saoirse did not chase nor stumble after it. With a grunt, she swung herself into a sitting position and fumbled wildly for her ink, quill, and notebook. Trying to remember exactly what it said and what it looked like, she poured her thoughts into the paper and scribbled wildly within it.
