in modern day japan, gods and yōkai are rarely recognized as
existing creatures. times are changing, and those whom follow
shintoism are no longer finding time to visit local shrines. beca-
use of this, the spiritual deities and yōkai have become cross
with the human race, openly causing problems and interfering
with things such as weather, political conflict and human rela-
tionships. however, gods are invisible to the human eye, and
even though the majority of yōkai can be seen, many of them
use magic to hide their supernatural traits to avoid danger.
obviously, it was only a matter of time before the powers at be
threw a few humans past the invisible boundary and into a world
of spirits and monsters to mend the broken relationships.

some how came across
divine power of their own.
either way, they play a key
part in bettering relations
between them and the
supernatural, but they are
also there to help prevent
fights between yōkai and
gods while both creatures
reside in the mortal realm.

ＤＥＩＴＩＥＳ
the different types & statuses
of gods across japan vary on
significance. those of lower
status, usually smaller gods,
are at more of a risk of being
completely forgotten by hu-
mans and fading away. many
gods resemble humans but
most do not. even so, all of
them can change their appe-
arance as long as it includes
important physical traits from
their true forms.

ＹＯＫＡＩ
while the gods cause troubles
such as storms as earthquakes,
yōkai make mischief on a
more personal level. yōkai, in
general, are spirits of mainly
animals and possess human
traits along with more supern-
atural traits as well [i.e crow
tengu have black wings]. they
are the most bitter around hu-
mans due to how close the
human world is to their spirit
world.

this roleplay takes place in japan, in
a simple, average sized town that's
surrounded by scenic mountains and
cliffs. local the gods have shrines
scattered across the mountains,
each varying in size. most yokai reside
at or around these shrines when not in
their own world. the local high school
is on the town boundary, and is directly
connected to different plazas and parks.
the railroads are a common place for
humans a yokai alike to visit, due to a
neighboring spirit realm entrance.

although full of mischievous antics and the common yokai behaviour, kichiro prefers spending his sweet time napping and hanging around shrines. he's quite the unmotivated guy, preferring to make trouble in his own way by annoying gods and the like with his lazy presence. kichiro is a tanuki spirit, and even with his human appearance he has fuzzy brown ears and a tail to match. the yokai is known to be gentler to those who treat him kindly- yet is notorious for hanging around shrines that have kicked him out or tried warding him off the land. he doesn't enjoy being bossed around, especially when he's in the middle of a nap.
