The Land of Iolunn
The Land of Iolunn offers many obstacles for all inhabitants. With overgrown foliage, most light is shielded from the ground, and this can give land-dwellers cold weather, especially when the sun is furthest away - winter. Iolunn is considered by some, a four-seasonal planet being that the temperatures get considerably warmer, and cooler, depending on the planet's distance towards the sun. Though, creatures here have never experienced snow. Large, ancient trees are scattered abundantly throughout these lands, reaching to around 700ft. tall. The tallest, and most known home of the Ancient Timberlock, on the center-most island stands at 805.7 ft. tall. Aside from the enormous trees, most of the smaller type plants are large, and leafy. The ground of Iolunn's islands much like Earth's rain forests, this being that the plants are considerably large, and well nourished. The planet of Iolunn is a black, volcanic rock that reflects a well amount of heat, spilling out small lava lakes. But above this scarcely inhabited core, floats many upon many islands where the trees, plants, and most animals are located. They are connected by large vine like strictures or trees, and are kept at the same height from the heat given off of the planet's base below them. Iolunn has three moons, the smallest being seasonal and only comes out in the 'summer' months. Vexus - a large, red moon much like mars, Tygette - medium, blue moon that sits below Vexus, and Crisenthum - the smallest of the three. White moon, only out during 'summer' months. The Iolunn calendar is much like ours, except has 14 months, instead of 12. 10 of those being hot, and warm, considered to be summer. The 4 remaining months are cooler, and frost can form on the leaves and a thin layer of ice upon the rivers. Water on Iolunn has an odd luminescence, the rivers and lakes having a light blue color almost like Earth's bio-luminescent ocean. There are mountains, and volcanoes just as earth has, too. One of the largest mountains is about one and a half times larger than Mount Everest.
Creatures of Iolunn
Many odd creatures lurk beneath these trees. To start off, we have the Sentenients, senteniant kings, and senteniant dwarfs. These creatures have up to 40 tentacles, small and large, two of them being longer and wider, almost palm like that help with food, and defense. They have a hard, beak like mouth with two larger teeth to help tear at meat. They have head crests, with a little blue glowing ball at the end of each prong, and sometimes like freckles, glowing caused from the same substance in fireflies. They normally have black, or dark brown skin, covered in tiny scales to protect and keep them warm. They are known to travel in groups of four, usually led by a king. Next, there are Howlers. Large, ape-like bodied animals about the size of a large male lion, with long, brown or grey fur. Their face almost looks like a mask, though instead is a white, grey, or black frog-like skinned, and bare. It is hard like bone, but almost scaley, and usually has red freckles under their black eyes. The name derives from the odd and empty howling sound they make when the sun goes down, the trees filling with howls of all sorts. After this, there is the Parralex, a large bird, the wingspan if 24 feet across. They have black feathers, and a rather long tail. They wear a long, sharp white mask as their face, and have increddibly sharp talons, and beaks. These birds are strictly carnivorous, and a large predator to the Treelock. Timaren, a common prey to most predators in Iolunn are an odd, deer like creature. It's fur extremly soft, and very, very short, just softening there thick skin underneath. They, too have a head crest like sentenials, but they end in sharp bones for protection. They have almost goat like eyes, and can see through ultraviolet light, but why, then, are they a common prey? Timaren aren't the fastest creature, and having a lot of earth like abilities puts them in a disadvantage, they also, don't have the best fighting skills, as they are one of the most peaceful creatures on this land. They come in all varieties of colors, though all have up to 8 stripes along there back, and spots always running along the stripes. Elitra are 3 ft. tall, almost bug like creatures. With a long, ovalish shell-covered body, and long, charcoal sharp legs that resemble stilts, they obviously are tough little things, but stay in groups of 7 so they can form defense, as all have one large spike rising from their back, and a long, pointed mouth.Dwelling in burrows under the dirt, you will find Ferrs. A ferr is a ground hog, large gerbil like animal, with short stumpy legs, long claws for digging, and a fury, wide body with a longer head. They can live in teams of up to 30 adults and babies in one den. They are another easy catch for Timberlock, when the animals come out for water at around midnight each night. The Pslyadex is amongst the biggest threat to the treelock. The size of a smaller elephant, this nasty creature is a beast. It has strong legs for running, a black, scaley body, a large mane like spikes, from the head to the base of the back, two rows of large carnivorous teeth, a longer, britle body, and paws equipped with sharp claws. The main way to escape these nightmares is by getting high enough into the trees, their brittle bodies holding large jumping activities back from the psylyadex. They travel in packs of 7-14, and seem peaceful from afar, until they smell prey. For the rest, you may find odd beetles, glowing butterflies, panther like creatures, and some that none may describe. But one thing's for sure, Iolunn, is no place for the weak.
Ancient Timberlock - A closer look
↠ Ancient Timberlock find homes in the largest, most durable, and often the oldest trees on the islands of Iolunn. They have carved intricate tunnels, rooms, and hallways into the bark of the trees, and continue to expand their homes as the population grows. In each 'home' there must contain at least two main entries, usually on either side of the bark, and must have a main room which is usually larger, and clean-kept than the rest. Timberlock that are higher in rank usually have a higher elevation in the tree. Each family, or being has it's own room in their birth tree, where their family tribe is located. And though most Ancient Timberlock choose to stay in the tribe their family was born, but it isn't rare to find that an Ancient Timberlock leaves their tribe to another, whether it be due to love, death, or just a lust of another family. Very few loners are found amongst this species due to danger levels, and the loners are usually either extremely experienced in fighting, or have sided with another species who takes them in as part of their family. Long story short, most loners have let evil taken over.
↠ Speaking of tribes... Ancient Timberlock have a tribe for each tree. In these tribes, there can be up to 20 families, and at the most 35 families, but this is unusual. There are at least 3 tribes for island, but are spread out greatly, and have their own designated territory. Ranking in tribes is much like a well-organized society. Some designated ranks, such as warriors, have their own room for conferences, preparation, and such.Ranks from highest to lowest are: Chief, Betas, Deltas, Gammas, Guards/Defenders, Scouts, Hunters, Warriors, Shayman, Care-Takers, Janitors, and Commoners.
↠ Ancient Timberlock are omnivores. They consume mostly meat captured from the hunters, but can also eat certain plants.
↠ The eyes of Ancient Timberlock are usually lighter in color, giving better vision in the dark.
