the young medicine cat apprentice was sorting the herbs in the medicine cat den. his blue eyes sparkled as he did the thing he loved - identifying each leaf, each flower, each root by smell and placing them in the right spot. he loved being one of the only cats in the clan who knew so much about healing. he looked across at his mentor. "hey, uh, mintwhisker? where abouts did we put the cobweb again?" that was the only herb he needed constant help with - it was scentless.

ashkit was playing with a small moss ball just outside of the nursery, his eyes and nose keeping track of everything. because he was deaf, he knew he had to be constantly on the lookout. he also wondered how he'd cope with training - it was only a day until his apprentice ceremony.

moonflower watched her kit playing, her ears alert. she was scared something would happen to him - scared he'd get sick, scared he'd hurt his deformed paw even more, scared that he'd be an elder straight away. she sighed. tomorrow was his big day. she smiled, her ears flicking in happiness.

The pale yellow leader sat at Highrock, watching the sky above. "Come on,Starclan." Finchstar muttered. "Leaf-bare is here. Please give us a sign of good news." Her green optics, filled with hope yet sorrow, scanned the fluffy clouds.

Oceansong breathed in the sweet smell of the forest. She felt the wind in her fur. She smelt a mouse nearby, so she crouched low to the ground. She was downwind of it, so she pounced, landing on it and snapping it's spine. She picked up its warm body and buried it so she could continue hunting.

"thanks mintwhisker!" he said, cheerful. he picked up the wad of cobwebs, storing it high up, next to the marigold and the burdock root, so he could use it if necessary. he organised the leaves by what they were used for - it helped him out in the long run and any scentless herbs could be found easily.

ashkit looked up, seeing the medicine cat approach. his speech was hardly audible. "hello, mintwhisker." he said. his fluffy fur blew in the gentle breeze.
