Spirit woke up in her den and walked outside howling

Viola stirred. The sunlight streamed through the entrance of the den. It was a huge old tree with a gap in it's roots. It had been dug out and now it was almost a deep tunnel. The warm darkness and the scent of healing plants swamped her as the violet eyed wolf left her nest reluctantly. The sound of howling was drilling into her skull, so she staggered into the morning light, revealing her still sleep-messed pelt and groggy eyes. She forced a howl back.
