Francis - engineer for The Sovereign - Angusaurian (lizard) ⟡ - Location: Engine Room - Tags: OpenFrancis landed on the ground with a soft
’tink’ as his claws clicked on the metal below. The ship had departed without any issues, but that didn’t mean that the engineers could slack off when it came to making sure things were in working order. He had familiarized himself with the locations of each valve, piston, and other components, quadruple-checking that nothing was blocked or moving in a strange way. This was routine habit by now, having started his rounds ever since he had been contacted about working on the vessel. Perhaps his tenacity with every previous ship he had worked on was paying off.
The Angusaurian flexed the claws of each of his four upper limbs, the two robotic ones making a
whirrrring with the movement, before heaving a relieved sigh and sending a completed digital checklist to the bridge. He very much doubted that much would change in the few hours it would take before the captain would have to report to their higher-ups, and the smooth sailing would do wonders for the buzz of excitement Francis had felt the weeks leading up to the journey. This engine was not too different from the ones he had worked on before, and it would stay simple so long as his experience with racing modifications wasn’t required. As fun as the hobby was, it had cost the poor reptile two arms. He was ready for a bit of relaxation with this new role and didn’t mind visiting a holiday planet- in fact, he could already imagine himself sunning on one of the great, shining crystals that were advertised on posters and brochures along with the ship’s name. Sure, he wasn’t exactly a guest, but certainly the staff had their fair share of breaks while they were docked- right?
Shaking himself out of his brief daydreaming, Francis inserted the tablet he had been holding back into a panel in the wall and plopped down in a seat just outside the engine room. He would stay here for a while longer, the bulk of his work finished until alarm sirens blared or they decided to make a stop. Maybe, he thought, he would even be able to become better friends with the other staff members. The trip would be quite long after all.

Celeste - pilot for The Sovereign - Sentient Star Fragment - ⟡ - Location: The Bridge - Tags: Open, Castor, JerdanaCeleste sat stiffly in the pilot’s seat of the brand new vessel, their arms finally dropping from the controls as autopilot was activated. This was a feature that the star fragment had gotten used to over the past few years of piloting cargo ships, but these new controls had proven a bit of a learning curve for them. While Celeste had memorized the intructions to a T, the celestial had far,
far more experience when it came to simple navigation within space, around celestial bodies, and dodging space debris. She knew all too well how gravity and magnetism affected the objects around it, as something that could manipulate such things themself, and all of the control panel’s switches and buttons appeared irrelevant when she could just push it along. With that said, they weren’t entirely sure which of all the crystalline planets they had zipped by was Illuvia, and interspecies communication could certainly pose a problem if the ship’s pilot was… well, not exactly onboard.
Metallic eyelids shut over the light filtering out from the star’s center. Celeste had specifically wanted to learn about the experience of space travel through the lives of other beings, so they would play by the rules for now. A part of these rules seemed awfully keen on something called “teamwork”, something the celestial had experienced mostly within memories that didn’t belong to “her”. Perhaps she would give it a try.
Celeste’s eyes opened again as she fully placed her arms on her thighs, weaving her fingers together and swiveling her chair around to face the rest of the bridge. “I’ve lined us up to our navigated course and put on autopilot. I will continue to monitor the situation, however we have quite a bit of wiggle room between us and any objects that would cause damage. Should be smooth sailing for now.” Their voice hummed, glowing irises settled on Castor before giving a nod of approval towards Jerdana.
