Valindor is a tiny Island with little more than 1000 human inhabitants. Its only town lies on the edge of a deep pure salt lake and once a year the inhabitants harvest the salt to be sent to other islands-since the ocean is full of poisons these days-but most importantly the mainland 'Dynastia'. This small trickle of trade is the island's only lifeline as all travel and contact between the islands and the mainland has been severed for the past 20 years, unless you happen to be the man delivering the salt.

My name's Keates and I live with my dad on the outskirts of the town. We're a happy people here on Valindor, and nothing makes us happier than poking fun at the legends the mainland sends out to cover up their dodgy business.
A popular legend tells of a convict escaping the mainland and vanishing to one of the thousands of islands never to be seen again, the inhabitants of Valindor know the truth. The man the mainland searches for had a gift. He could become any animal imaginable. The mainland wanted his gift for themselves and have continued to search the globe for him, cutting travel between the islands to trap him, sending spies to flush him out. But what they don't know is that once the man arrived on Valindor, like a contagious disease his gift began to spread among the people, babies were born with fur, feathers, wings and claws. They eventually grew to be like any old baby, but our parents knew that one day, we would be just like the man who came to Valindor all those years ago, and in just as much danger.
And while the mainland searches, we play, run errands, and forever wonder what the rest of the world is like... One day though, when I'm sure I've got this flying thing down, I'll fly to the mainland, and find out just what my Dad was running from.
