Raising a rebellion (Medieval fantasy Closed)

"it's me, Laelynn." the young elf answered. "although you probably don't know me. I'm a guard at the palace." she clarified, just because she didn't want a dagger to the throat.

Looking over at the other elf, Akiria allowed herself to relax on the inside, without showing it. "Hm. So what are you doing here?" she then asked, stopping and fully turning to face Laelynn.

Laelynn hesitated. "well, first I was chasing a thief, then he lost me and I saw you. I was just wondering what you were doing here." she answered.

"I'm a bit busy." Akiria replied, her voice sharper and curt. "I've got somewhere to be, and I'd rather not be slowed down, as I'd like to finish this and report back as soon as possible." Though she was usually mostly friendly, missions like this got her a bit on edge. However, she was always a little blunt with people she didn't really know.

Laelynn blushed. Was she implying she would slow het down? But she fought to keep her voice calm. "I could help. And in not going to slow you down, I promise." she told her as calmly as she could.

"This is an important mission." Akiria said. "It's better for everyone if I do this alone. As much as I believe you're pretty good, I'd rather go by myself." It was true, she was sure Laelynn would be good there,- no one got to be a guard by chance- but she doubted it was be a good idea to let her come.

Laelynn sighed and was tempted to ask again, but knew Akirias mind was made up. "alright. But if you do need help, ask me." she told her. But she didn't intend to wait for Akiria to ask for her. She would come anyway.

Akiria nodded once and turned away, a little puzzled at the elf's decision to leave so quickly. 'She doesn't seem like the kind of person to give up so easily..' she thought. 'But what do I know?' she took in and let out a breath, preparing herself. Then she stepped completely into the shadows, focusing on another dark spot farther away, closer to the edge of the village. She closed her eyes for a moment, then appeared at her location. 'Now, moving on..' she began to walk, her steps soundless, as she scanned the area.

Laelynn balled her fists as the spy disappeared. She had lost her. Then she felt a small smile creep up as she noticed her further down. Hiding behind anything she could, Laelynn creeped after her. What could be so important she wouldn't let her come?

Akiria shot a look around, turning in a circle before continuing on. Gathering up her energy, she pinpointed a shadow that she could shift over to. She hurried into a bit of shade before teleporting to where she'd seen before. With a sigh, she realized she wouldn't be able to use her 'shadow hopping', as she called using her power consecutively, without wasting a lot of energy moving left and right, rather than mostly straight. Shaking her head, she thought, 'Well, sometimes it happens. Get used to it.'
