michael thomas hexe ━━━ mood: impassive location: mess hall tagged: nicholas, edie

indent michael was about to walk away when edie walked up to them. giving her a small nod as a hello, he listened to what she had to say. as soon as she was finished speaking with nicholas, he asked if she'd made any plans, not thinking too much about it. a small part of him hoped that she wouldn't be wanting to go to the market with him since that was going to be his only chance to get away today, but the young man felt bad for feeling that way and he knew that he would enjoy her company anyway. michael didn't think that edith would be very interested in his favorite shop, but he silently decided to cross that bridge when he came to it. how do I always end up spending all my money on books whenever I go there? mentally pushing aside that thought, hexe looked toward his fellow officer, "would you like to visit the farmer's market with me? it's probably my favorite part of the city... mostly nice people there," he asked, not really sure why. she'll probably say no, but that'll be alright, I guess.

hannah may harbinger ━━━ mood: tired, curious location: gym tagged: sephtis

indent upon sephtis coming up to her, hannah nearly tripped over her own feet, causing the treadmill's safety features to kick in. silently cursing at the machine, the woman pulled the buds out of her ears to hear what the younger man had to say, her heart pounding. nodding, she replied, "sure thing. is this a... m5e1?" she questioned him before gently lifting the rifle out of his hands. hannah had seen him working on it earlier, but she hadn't gotten a good look at the weapon until now. it was surprisingly light, as most guns of this type were quite front-heavy. silently, she inspected the weapon, double-checking that it wasn't loaded before lifting it up and holding it as if she were aiming. she didn't fire it quite yet but instead marveled at the changes that sephtis had made to it. well, if he was going for a menacing look then he certainly succeeded. "how'd you make it so light?" she asked, genuinely curious and yet a bit concerned.

He didn't know the boundaries of man. He wasn't even human. Not even close. Just a shell, a mask to hide what was really underneath. Nothing but wires and circuits and metal. Luckily, conversations like this one were helpful for TARS. It helped him grow as a .. person. So. Music. Wasn't something she listened to normally, but it was something she was familiar enough with to answer his question. He pursed his lips and nodded as he watched her think it out.
The human mind was so fragile.. yet so strong and independent. It was amazing how that thing worked. She brought up classical and he nodded, looking back down at his coffee and tapping the edge of his mug with a few fingers. Classical was a good genre. His bank began to file through all the types of classical artists he knew. Of course the popular ones. Bach, Beethoven, but what about the others? Chopin. Haydn. Tchaikovsky. Wonderful men.
She posed him a question and he shrugged while lifting his cup again. It was still full, and yet slightly less warm than before. He blew on it again before lowering it to the table. He wasn't going to take any sip whatsoever.
He didn't need to.
"I might indulge a little. I often wondered what white noise would do. The type that.. you hear between radio frequencies.." he sat there a moment thinking
"Static. Ah yes.." he nodded and returned to reality
"Or.. maybe sounds of the forest. Birds.. waterfalls.. anything to brighten up the office. Or I could try classical. Perhaps that would make the work go faster." he smiled.
He shrugged and pushed his cup away from him
"Regardless I will figure it out. Today is a day to get work done and I am sure that.. we will all have something to do today."

He listened as the man responded with the word 'wicked' and he instantly knew this guy was a keeper. Nobody else used dead vocabulary like this guy did. Perhaps it wasn't going to be too bad if he managed to get this guy on his good side. Especially when he just went off on his own powers, how he could do more than he could. More 'wicked' things anyways. Manipulate fire? Conjure weapons? It sounded like a soldier type of power to have.
"You must be one of the soldiers then," he answered with a nod and a small smile "Nobody else would have such dangerous powers."
He used the side of his fork to cut a bit of his pancake again, and sticking a piece in his mouth to chew. It took a moment but he swallowed and was back at it again, but with a few questions for the other.
"So like your weapon power.. you can like.. materialize a weapon out of the air?" he asked with an intrigued tilt of his head. "Is that how that works?" He wasn't too sure. As long as he got the gist of what their powers were like.
Hold up, there was something much more important he had to do right now. He pushed his half finished plate of pancakes aside and reached out toward the man with a hand.
"Can't believe I missed this part. Human interaction doesn't last this long with me." he sighed
"My name's Tacet. Like the musical term, yeah I know. Can't believe I didn't even introduce myself earlier but.. I guess I was in the middle of something."
He narrowed his eyes at the other, but kept his smirk firm. He always loved turning things around on other people. Making it their fault for sitting down at the table while he was eating. The nerve of some people.. huh..
If one was so keen, one would have noticed his nails were painted a dark purple color.

saša milovanović (milo) | the general | mess hall | tagged: hugo, dris, fireflies, shinoto | mentioned: hailey, michael

the general calmly folded their arms behind their back, watching dris coolly as they explained themselves. patience, my love, milo could almost hear him there, in the back of their mind. of course. dris was rather new here, right? the general had certainly heard of them, but didn't recall having formally met them. perhaps they'd need to have a chat with hailey about folding this one into the flock, in a way that was... more comfortable to them.

"i see." milo hummed as dris stopped speaking. "that said, hugo had no intention of harm. i'm sure that such a thing is startling, but your powers are similar to his. just as you see, without having to think or to focus on it, hugo's ability is one that is always present. it requires effort to keep it from affecting those around him, and i, quite frankly, see that as an asset. if no inhuman can present a threat within meters of him, then i do say that i feel well secured in his presence." the general glanced back at their gatherer, smiling just a fraction.

"would you consider that an accurate summary, hugo?"

however, as milo anticipated a response, two new rebels stepped into the rather tense atmosphere. well. that was unexpected. just as things were seeming a bit manageable, too...

"fireflies. shinoto. good morning," they greeted, dipping their head just a fraction, torso leaned forward before they straightened. "have the two of you reported to officer hexe yet?"

Shinoto nodded”yes sir,we already checks The FNOP.There was only a small raiding party but FireFlies took care of it”FireFlies looked down as he spoke”Something was off about them. They didn’t have the proper gear, the magic I used shouldn’t have defeated them in a single blow. They must’ve been newer people. But in all my years on the battlefield, they’ve never sent inexperienced tanks to the FNOP”she said with a thoughtful gaze and saw that Milo was getting a little overwhelmed by all the commotion. Her ears flattened’I knew this was a bad idea’she thought regretfully.Shinoto nodded encouragingly”A few other guys are at the post and told us that we could leave.I already gave my report to Officer Hexe while driving”Shinoto said with a nervous smile.Shinoto looked at them”So what posts did you guys get?”Shinoto said,he was trying to start a conversation

𝒲𝒾𝓁𝓁𝑜𝓌 𝐻𝓊𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇
𝑅𝑜𝓁𝑒: Gatherer --- 𝒫𝑜𝓌𝑒𝓇𝓈: Water manipulation & Telepathy --- 𝐿𝑜𝒸𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃: The Main Dormitory --- 𝒯𝒶𝑔𝓈: None, open

----

A faint, dainty light danced above her vision as she stepped into a lush, green field. Flowers surrounded her, and a familiar figure stood before her. “Wren?”The question was bittersweet on her tongue, and tears welled in her eyes at the single word. Despite the salty droplets of water that swam in her gaze, none of them dared to cascade down from her cheeks. It was too real to be true, and deep within her soul, she knew it wasn’t reality. Her heart trembled, and her chest seized up, in an effort to raise a wail from her throat. However, she knew this seemingly familiar face was nothing more than her imagination. “I’ll find you, I promise.” Doubt prodded her mind as she spoke, but she didn’t cease to withdraw them. Her wandering thoughts froze as the scene slowly dwindled away, carrying away the figure of her beloved sister. The palace of her imagination faded, and reality waited patiently in its place.

----

A mellow light drained away the last bits of darkness that lingered. Blinking away sleep from her eyes, she glanced around, her light-blue gaze settling on the empty beds in the Main Dormitory. Cringing slightly at her mistake, Willow climbed down from the top bunk of her resting place, delicately landing on the hard floors of the shared space. Her fingertips grasped a simple, green blouse and matching pants to go with it. Without any effort, she pulled her carefully, chosen clothes on, and ran a brush through her coppery-brown hair. She threaded across the cold floors of the bedroom, reaching the door, moments later. Fingering the knob of the egress, Willow stepped into the corridor, and averted her gaze in the direction of the Mess Hall. She placed a careful foot in where her gaze lingered, and with little hesitation, Willow headed to her destination. Her strides paced in quick motions, and in little time at all, she arrived. Familiar voices were mixed in with foreign ones, and a sociable figure caught her light gaze. Hugo. She noticed another fellow rebel nearby, and the general. Turning her attention to the counters close by, Willow turned on her heel. Her fingers lining up against a kettle, before pouring in the transparent liquid. Warmth seeped into her slender fingers, while her hands grasped a tea-bag, placing the flavor-filled element against the side of a small-sized cup. Taking a seat in a chair, she lifted the calming drink to her lips, sipping it as she observed her surroundings, remaining carefully quiet to stray away from any further attention.

Sleep dwindled from his dark-blue gaze as he found himself staring at the single-colored ceiling. The soft comfort of his mattress spread warmth across his figure, and he didn't cease to move from his position, for a few moments. Letting his lips stretch wide into a yawn, he pushed himself to his feet, briefly glancing in the direction of his dark-colored watch before resuming to his -ever so repetitive- routine. He quickly fingered through his dresser, grappling out a light-colored shirt and jeans, and putting them on moments later. He, then, pulled opened the door, rather quickly and strode to the Cafeteria. Entering the open space, he scanned the area around him. His head was lifted high, and his gaze glinting with delight as the captain came into view. David sat nearby, with one of the female snipers, whom he easily recognized, Wren. Grabbing himself a cup of coffee from a counter, Jaxon let his gaze rest on his 'leader'. Letting the luxurious scent of his morning drink soothe his nostrils, he ambled closer to the pair. "Good morning, Captain." He greeted, as he pulled out a chair to sit beside his fellow teammates. "Hello, Miss. Hunter." Reaching out a hand, he leaned in closer to squeeze her right shoulder.

Wren Hunter
Role: Sniper | Location: Cafeteria, Taskforce Blacksite | Tags: David/TARS & Jaxon

With the remainder of her breakfast completed, Wren took a sip from her glass, drinking in the cool water. The volume in the cafeteria was at a comfortable level, not too loud, nor eerily silent. Taskforce members drifted in and out of the cafeteria, most likely to start their duties for the day. Speaking of which, she’d best head do the same.

She leaned forward to catch the captain’s words. He mentioned a variety of forms of music he’d like to play in his office, which ranged from static to birds and waterfalls. She raised an eyebrow at the utterance of static, curious as to how he found the sound… helpful. It brought her back to her interrogation days - something she was glad to have behind her. For now at least. From her experience, white noise was unpleasant, perhaps more than a little detrimental to certain individuals. She nodded once in agreement at his comment about work and getting things done, taking it as an invitation to head to work. “Yes, I-” The thought quickly faded at the sudden arrival of another enforcer, who wasted no time making himself comfortable with a cup of coffee in-hand.

“Archer.” Feeling a squeeze on her shoulder, her hand shot up quickly to grasp ahold of the enforcer’s wrist. In a single motion, she could have twisted the man’s wrist to flip it palm up and much worse quite easily, but she held off. If they’d been watching closely enough, a single muscle twitch was the only sign of what she’d been considering. The man was an affectionate one, an oddity amongst the inhumans. However, it was best to keep him on one’s good side with his essential abilities and be generous with forgiveness. “I’m certain we talked about this before, if I’m not mistaken.” She tapped a finger on his hand, a gesture for him to take the hint. “So if you please.”

Hugo Bridges
Role: Gatherer | Location: Mess Hall, Rebellion HQ | Tags: Dris, Milo, Shinoto & Fireflies [Mentions: Hani, Evelyn & Willow]

Hugo made no move towards the now-named rebel, Dris, although his tongue itched to make a particular comment as they went on about how he was ‘blinding’ them. However, he respected the general enough to keep a tight lid on his negation for the time being and keep his mouth shut. Although he wasn’t some negotiator, he was quite certain that both he and Dris could hold a decent conversation without resorting to violence. Really? The thought prodded at him as he grabbed ahold of his coffee cup and downed the rest of the now-cool coffee.

Hearing the general’s explanation about his powers, he gave a nod in confirmation. “That’s right, yes.” Still keeping a close eye on the other rebel, he leaned back against the counter, tapping a finger against it. They weren’t that different after-all. If anything, he could easily point out that they were ‘stealing his privacy’ with Dris’s abilities to read his emotions. The thought dwindled at the approach of two rebel soldiers. Fireflies and Shinoto. Yet another pair of rebels that he hadn’t formally met. He'd seen them around, however. They mentioned the front northern outpost, which had they’d too easily defended against a raid with their powers. Odd. At Shinoto’s question, he tugged the sleeve of his black jacket up to check the time, before glancing towards the entrance of the mess hall. He noted the arrival of Willow, a fellow gatherer, before returning his attention to the group.

“I haven’t seen officer Jung, this morning, yet,” he admitted. The rest of the gathering team had yet to make an appearance. Perhaps he should begin checking up on them. “I’m sure assignments will be given out when he arrives.”

Shinoto Takashi Yoon,FireFlies. Location:Mess Hall

Shinoto nodded with confusion”Right”Shinoto sensed a tension between Hugo and Dris.FireFlies looked at Shinoto,he felt something.FireFlies was thinking of things that could strike a conversation but couldn’t find anything.Shinoto could feel her uneasiness and laughed a little.FireFlies glared at him”So..what’s everybody’s powers?I think everyone knowing everyone else’s powers could be useful on the battlefield”She looked at Shinoto for approval that she was doing okay in this conversation. He laughed a little more”And you called me predictable. You have no bonds or relations to anyone here. That’s just sad” he teased.FireFlies grabbed his shoulder and a loud cracking sound came from his arm.She just dislocated it,she melts her hand in his shoulder and said”What’s sad again?”she said with a dark teasing tone.He winced and said”Nothing Nothing!”He said with amusement. She smiled and said”Yeah I know”She put his arm back and looked at the group waiting to hear their answers to her question

Set raised his eyebrows as she tripped but otherwise stated silent, letting the moment pass. He must have surprised her. At her inquiry, he nodded. "You are correct," he replied, watching closely how she handled it. He was glad to see she was carrying it easily. It meant he did his job. But it was her second question that brought a devious smile to his face. "My secret~" he purred, leaning in the treadmill, arms crossed. His ways were his secret, so it was time to shift the subject. He was not fond of divulging those. "If it works, then it won't matter, right? Also, any opinions or suggestions on the look?" If it was functional, the next thing he would need to address would be durability. With things as they were, that was a genuine concern. Maybe he could get her to use it during the team's next job then analyze the parts after? He made a mental note to bring that up later.

Evelyn 'Ren' Renee Carter

22 Female | Rebel Gatherer | Open for interaction

Evelyn woke up that morning, realizing everyone else was already gone. She pulled herself up to a sitting position, yawning. It wasn't like her to sleep in so late, so she found herself hoping she wasn't getting sick. That was the last thing they needed.

Begrudingly, she got up and changed into a clean outfit for the day. She ran a brush through her hair, taking a semi-satisfied glance in the mirror. Good enough- she thought to herself before grabbing her pouch and heading down to the mess hall to grab a quick bite to eat before heading out for the day. Upon arrival, she picked a quick meal option and sat down at a nearby table. She took a bite of said food, silently watching the others in the mess hall.

Dris took their cue and held their tongue as well, letting the conversation shift to the other recruits. The pair talked back and forth so quickly, Dris felt they might not be able to get a word in edgewise. All the empath wanted to do was run away and hide and go back to not talking to anyone, same as they'd done the first couple of days.

Dris knew, as well, what they should do in this situation: thank Hugo for turning off the negation, or give him permission to use it and just get used to being mundane. They couldn't bring themself to do either.

"I-- Maddy will know where we're supposed to be. I think Edie said I'm supposed to find Gunter." Dris paused, looking to the authoritative person (Milo) beside them. "You aren't Gunter, are you?"
