"The fire is drawing closer to camp" Leo rasped, voice scratchy even after taking multiple handfuls of water from the river. He was startled by a big splash coming from the river. Looking towards the sound, he sighed softly to see a large deer splashing hurriedly through the water. Even wild animals were in desperate need to escape the fire. "We need to be as quick as possible" he said, shifting into his anthro form so he wouldn't be as clusmy as he was in human form. "I can carry Ash but...there's no guarantee that camp is still safe to be" He sniffed the air but coughed when all he could smelled was smoke. It was everywhere and his senses couldn't get past it.

Josie twisted a lock of her hair around a finger as she stared up at the billows of smoke coming from the forest. The scream of a cougar sent a shiver down her spine. Her thoughts immediately jumped to an unusually large and muscular cheetah. The red-haired girl cringed and rubbed her temple. She couldn't risk going out there again, but she needed to know if he was ok..

Josh groaned softly and moved his hand to run down his face, "You're gonna have to show me how." he murmured, raising a shaking hand to touch Donnie's arm. A shock coursed through his body and filled him with renewed energy, "Don't worry though, I'm a quick learner." his light australian accent made his teasing a bit funnier... At least he thought so. The noble ran a hand through his ash-flaked hair before glancing up at Donatello with a concerned look, "We don't have much time, and I'd prefer not to run through the forest searching for your sister.. 'Like a maniac'." he rolled his dark eyes as Josh mimicked the royal. He needed to shake off his doubts and block out everything but the wall. His eyes closed, Joshua focused on the ground below him, making his head sway and he stumbled forward, though he was quick to compose himself with an embarrassed clearing of his throat. "Right.. The ground?"


Addison / Howler Alpha Female / Location: Howler Territory / Tags: Ceasar

Addison glanced at ceasar, her amber eyes widened, "That nose of yours will get you into trouble one of these days.." she teased lightly. The puma gradually slowed her gait, the stench of smoke stinking her delicate nose. A horrified look rippled across her maw as her thoughts were flooded with her brothers and sisters in danger and in pain. She felt the stinging burn of fire on her pelt as an image of Juniper flashed across her gaze. A gurgled screech escaped her lips before she crumpled to the cold ground. Her large frame quivered as she returned to human form, tears glistening off of her tanned face, "Ceasar... They're all in danger out here, you must call them back to camp." speaking as her true self, her human self, came more naturally despite the waver in her voice. The pain she felt when she was an animal had subsided to a dull headache, "And Juniper.. Many have been hurt." She stood on shaky legs, drained of all energy, "Go. I'll be right behind you-" she staggered into a tree, wincing as her shoulder met with the bark. A ripple sent her body convulsing until she was a cougar again, kicking up leaves as the invisible fire scorched her pelt and sent searing pain across her back and sides. Addison rolled to her paws and shook off her pelt. She did her best to block out the pain of her family that she felt and gave a stern, hard look at the alpha male, "It's only spreading faster by the second, don't delay for anything!" she hissed, ears flat against her thick skull. She prayed he would be able to beat the fire back to the camp before it engulfed everything they knew and loved. Addison gave one last warm look at the gigantic wolf before she sprang into the trees, her paws hitting the ground and thrumming softly. The puma's face was hard set and determined- she needed to find her injured brother and sisters and bring them home safely.[/quote]

Donatello | Forest | Tagged; Josh

Donatello face palmed and sighed heavily. He reached down and dug his fingers into the ground and picked up some dirt before shoving it into Josh's hands. "Congrats. That is the ground genius" he said sarcastically, "This is Earth. Say hi. Earth, this is Josh" He rolled his eyes because basically this was how he was taught how to use his powers. "Earth is a living being. You need to feel her. It's in turmoil so you'll have this terrible feeling in your gut" he coughed and tried to wave smoke away from his face. "Feel the Earth and imagine what you want it to do. Close your eyes if it helps" he then Jabbed Josh in the chest, "And I swear, If you knock down any Part of the barrier. You'll regret it."
With that, he wearily turned around to walk a couple steps to the nearest tree. He sat at the base of it and muttered "Good Luck newbie" before pulling his knees close to him and sort of huddling against the tree. Breathing as evenly as he could, he used his healing power to try and restore his magic. For him, his magic was like a muscle and he didn't want to 'pull a muscle' and end up unconscious. Healing might work but there was a good chance it wouldn't since his healing didn't restore weariness.

Alex has to just about jog to keep up with her oldest brother, her feet stirring leaves lying in their path. She stopped quickly as soon as Hawthorne raised the Earth barriers. She listened to her brother and had a quick look around before adding a chunk of her telekinesis to ease Hawthorne's burden a bit. She wasn't used to using her ability to do something so big, even a small part of this kind of thing, so it wasn't a surprise to herself when her knees buckled slightly, she caught herself, hoping her siblings hadn't noticed and instead she kept a look-out, trying to ignore the draining sensation of her using so much of her power. A thought suddenly came to her and she looked at her oldest brother. "Hawthorne. I can help you. Properly, I mean. I- I could use my Ability Absorption," she tells him, her voice hesitant and quiet.

Josh glared at Donnie before his gaze flickered back to the huge barrier. He swallowed, it would be a challenge to not knock it down, but he really didn't want his butt beaten by the royal. Taking a deep breath Josh clenched his fist, the soil pressing against his sweaty palm and easing some of his anxiety. He felt sick deep in his stomach and sent a wary glance at Donatello... This must be the feeling he was talking about. Joshua closed his eyes and focused on the ground and what he wanted it to do. He imagined the compacted earth breaking and sifting until it rose into something identical to Donnie's. He opened his eyes to look and whatever loose dirt was compacted on his section fell to the ground. He growled and studied Donnie's wall. It was curiously compacted and twisted together. "Worth a shot.." he mumbled staring hard at the dirt wall to copy it very closely. His dirt started to move and shift again, though this time it stayed when he opened his eyes. "How's that?" he asked, trying his best to hide his eagerness and the anxiety that coursed through him. He wanted to prove something to this annoying know-it-all, but Josh just couldn't figure out what.

Soren was a bit surprised to see his brother's expression, clearly confused. "Yes- that's them," he confirmed, tilting his head. He found it curious why the noble had decided to help, and Hawthorne's reaction to his name left him with a bit of concern. He wasn't used to seeing Hawthorne get riled up, but it was clear to Soren that something was wrong. As they drew ever closer to the fire, Soren's senses were almost overwhelmed by the horrible feelings that lingered so heavily in the area. He shuddered, anxiously rubbing his arm, the protective wall their oldest sibling made not able of distracting him. He pulled his scarf up, wrapping it tighter around his face to cover his mouth to filter out some of the smoke, focusing on where the others could've ended up. He observed the area, wandering a bit, though not straying very far from his siblings. "Where could they've gone? I mean... around the fire, right?" He tilted his head, sighing. "Though that isn't narrowing down the search area a whole lot..." He groaned softly, tugging at some of his feathers. He looked back at Alex, as if to check where she was. He furrowed his eyebrows, walking closer to her, humming as he heard her idea. It would work, but he couldn't help being concerned. "You shouldn't overexert yourself..." He commented, glancing at Hawthorne. "Though it would be useful. The more people that can help, the better."

Although she hadn't exactly planned on returning to the forest, especially not in the same day, the people she'd been pestering had gone home and she couldn't seem to relax enough to get any rest. Shiva put on her glasses as she approached the outskirts of the city, not wanting to be any more helplessly blind than she already was. She frowned as she looked up at the smoke tainting the sky, her steps slowing somewhat as she got closer to the trees. In the corner of her eyes she saw a red-haired woman, and her blue eyes fixing on the stranger. "Yo-!" She called out, jogging over to Josie and waving a hand at her. She knew she probably didn't know the other woman, but nothing seemed to stop her from talking with strangers. So much so that she didn't even think it was strange to approach someone. "D'you got any idea what set that fire?" She paused, then added on, "Or how long it's been goin'?" It felt a bit like humans weren't too concerned about it, and she was feeling like maybe it was just too late in the day or something for them to have noticed. Some part of her instinct told her the fire wasn't natural, but she couldn't wholly comprehend that part.

At Hawthorne's "order", Basil immediately got to work helping him set up the earthen barriers. She worked silently and rapidly. Soon, she had set up several yards of the high, sturdy walls. Though, Basil’s technique wasn’t quite as precise as her brother’s, she had no trouble manipulating the dirt and rock. With her power, she had an unusually strong connection to the earth. It seemed that the unassuming princess was much more powerful than she looked. Though, her lack of experience was her shortcoming. Slowing down the fire was a huge job, even with help. Basil hadn’t used her green magic like to move this much earth before. But, she continued until she could begin to feel her strength weakening. Basil took a step away from the towering wall, rubbing her eyes. The smoked made her eyes sting slightly and her chest ache. Looking over at Hawthorne, she slightly envied his endurance. He seemingly controlled the huge chunks of earth without much effort.

With Hawthorne and Basil working together, the two of them created an impressive wall of rock and earth. Though Hawthorne's dominate power was black, his earth magic was fairly strong. When he was satisfied that the three of them were safe for the moment, he stepped back to take a breath. As Alex spoke, he frowned slightly as he thought it over. Hawthorne had wanted to avoid putting her in more danger. He had noticed her stumble as she used her telekinesis. But, as Soren had mentioned earlier, he couldn't protect his siblings forever. It wouldn't be fair to keep her from helping. Hawthorne wiped the sweat and black soot from his forehead, giving a slight huff. " I don't know Alex... " He looked at her with worry in his eyes, " I don't want you to over use your power.." He hesitated before continuing, " But, we could use your help. If you want, you can give it a try. It's your decision. Just... please be careful. If you get tired at all, stop and rest. " Hawthorne waited for her answer, coughing slightly from the smoke. Though the barrier protected them from the flames for the time being, it didn't protect them from the heat of the fire and the thick, noxious smoke.

Alex wastes no time. She brushes her hand against Hawthorne's, copying his Earth magic and turns to the wall closest to the fire. She closes her eyes and uses her technique for telekinesis to control the Earth. She focuses on where the Earth doesn't feel quite right, trying to sink it while attempting to thicken the wall. She feels a small area of the Earth drop, but not by much. Maybe only a couple of centimeters. She grits her teeth, trying again. She focuses hard on the wall, ignoring the sweat dripping into her eyes, the jelly-like feel of her legs. The draining feeling strengthens, so Alex gives one last push of energy to try to thicken the wall before dropping to the ground, breathing hard. "How do you guys manage to do that?" She asks in between breaths, looking at the blurry figures of who she thinks is Basil and Hawthorne.

After Alex copied his power, Hawthorne quickly got back to work helping with the walls. He hoped that he had made a fair decision by letting his sister help. Earth magic didn’t come easily to all Quell with green magic. It took a lot of training to learn how to control, even then it was a draining power to use. He glanced back at his younger sisters, worried that Alex may have been pushing herself to hard. And he was right. As Alex sank to the ground, Hawthorne’s eyes widened. “Alex!” Immediately, he was at her side, “Are you okay? Do you feel alright?” He asked quickly. He looked her over worriedly. Over using a power could be very dangerous. “Soren!” Hawthorne shouted, his voice tight “Soren, get over here!”
