I found myself at this academy to get away from everything. Being that I was not exactly people friendly, it was a better place to be than a tiny town on the Bible Belt. My hair was up in a messy bun and my fingers stretched out to relieve the tension they had built up from riding my Harley for a couple hours without any breaks. My legs ached and I was itching to get around to scaring some people. Letting my hair down, I made my way towards the entrance.

My ice trailed behind me as I walked towards the school. Small swirling designs of ice were etched across my arms, much like tattoos but less permanent. I decided to have some fun with this, and I extended my fingers out and watched as the ice formed on the ground. It formed in small and large areas, and anyone who stepped on a spot would slip as if on a skating rink. This should be fun.

She stood at the entrance of the school fidgeting, slightly anxious about going to school with other people again. The only slightly calming thing was that everyone else was supposedly gifted or paranormal so if she lost it someone should be able to stop her. Her train of thought halted abruptly as she picked up a scent, but what through her off was it wasn’t like any other scent she’d come into to contact with. It was like a persons but there was something else mixed in too that she couldn’t really describe even if she tried to.

Ashley approached the school. Her bird was tucked away, safe from the eye of any staff. She was planning on giving her bird, Nautilus, to her parents to take care of, but they were busy for the first few weeks of school. She was planning on giving her parents Nautilus once those few weeks were over. The school yard was full of students attending Red Moon University. It was a hot day outside, but Ashley was a human Air Conditioning for herself, so she was fine.

Once she entered the school, she noticed how huge the building actually was. She needed to find her dorm so that she could claim a bed. She knew that she was in dorm two, but she didn't know where that was. She stumbled her way over to a staff member, asking for some help. They told her directions, and she headed to the dorm. It was a reasonably sizes from and it had two separate beds, both also reasonably sized for teenagers.

My bike was safely placed away from the eyes and hands of other students, and I started to make my way to the school corridor. A girl stood there, her body kind of stiff and she was blocking the way. "Hey, you can't just stand there. People have to get through." I huffed in annoyance and crossed my arms.

This was it, her first day at Red Moon University. she had come to this fine establishment not only to learn or make friends, but to distract herself from the hole in her heart that was torn on the night of the car crash and ultimately her parents' death. But she had other thoughts on her mind too. What if the classes were too hard for her? What if no one wanted to be her friend? She meant, yes, she was a light element but that didn't mean she was automatically popular! Well, it kind of did but still. Athena pushed these troubling thoughts to the back of her mind and shook it off. She dragged her suitcase behind her as she continued into the quaint building. Well, it was large to other people but compared to her estate it wouldn't even be noticeable.

"Now I just have to go through the strenuous task of finding where everything and everyone is. Lets start with my dorm so I can claim my bed." Athena muttered to herself, fidgeting with her hands.

My eyes diverted to a girl walking towards the school. A positive energy seemed to flow from her, and everything about her seemed so bright. My eyes then wandered to the grass where she was headed and ice had sprawled out in it. I prepared myself for what could happen next.

She could feel practically feel the markings prickling along her jawline as she mumbled an embarrassed apology and stepped aside. “I was just taken aback by how big the place is”, she said sparing a glance back at the building. “Also out of curiosity what are you exactly, your scent is a bit.... off”, she said turning her full attention to the other girl.

Normally, I would smite anyone down that spoke me in such a way. My scent is off? What kind of comment is that, and to me, that makes it even worse. I looked the girl up and down before letting my eyes shift to their natural solid black and wings slowly emerged from my back. "Well, a demon of course."
