Looking over at Jessica, she noticed the redhead has a slight flush to her face. " Are you sure you're alright? You're a bit red.... you don't have a fever, do you? Nothing of that sort I hope...." she honestly hoped it was just the slight heat of the night and all the running about that had the redhead looking..well, red. She didn't wish for her guide to suddenly pass out. She'd never get home at that rate. " So, tell me....what's Runemeth like? I've never been there personally, but I'd like to visit sometime, once everything has calmed down around here..."

" Now now, no need to seem so flustered. " he stated with the smallest of smiles. " I appreciate the gesture. In addition, it's not like I minded either. My kind isn't exactly made up of particularly warm people. Especially those of pure blood. It was...nice, i guess, to feel warm for once." he sighed, putting his hand over hid eyes. " Besides, you have no reason to apologize...besides for the fact that was risky move on your end. Most of the time, it wouldn't have bothered me much at all....I've just....I just haven't taken proper care of my dietary needs, so it was just unsafe for you to be so close at this time." granted, he was pretty sure Adrian had planned on using the queen for a meal that night, but he himself didn't wish to. " You say Adrian's nothing you can't handle....but you haven't seen him when he's angry. I would've hated to see the results of anyone who crossed his path before this whole ordeal....though, I almost wouldn't mind if you exposed me for who and what I am. It could be better then wondering every day when he's going to take control again, and what he's going to do."

Theo hesitantly peered over at the Akihito, who he couldn’t help but notice to be down in the dumps about their current situation. It was just brought up, but he supposed that the ‘date’ idea must have been very important to him. The cat placed a small, white-toed paw on his hand and then brought his nose to touch it before looking up at him. “Aki, there’s always tomorrow. And I don’t plan on letting daylight be our boundary.” The cat said gently. His strange, violet eyes stared up at his confidently. “If you really desire a knife so much it may do you better to wait to see the selections the merchants have. If not I could swipe one off of someone at a tavern. Those people don’t deserve them anyway.” His eyes narrowed a bit and he gave a purr that sounded a lot like a snicker.

The black and white-furred feline shut his mouth as he realised the guards were still rather close and watched their interaction with Ren and Ruby intently. Their appearance and comments seemed almost... too much of a coincidence, in his mind. Plus many of the townsfolk didn’t know about the existence of vampires just yet. Theo nervously kneaded his paws on Akihiro’s arm, his head lifting to watch in case he felt the need to jump down and be a distraction.

Luckily for the four of them, the guards paid little mind to the suspiciousness of the situation and glanced the man over for any wounds before questioning. “Well, that’s quite a coat you’re wearing in this weather.” The castle soldier commented gruffly, watching the man with a hard stare. Though it made Theo squirm around a bit, he stopped when the guard gave a hearty laugh and clapped the vampire heir on the shoulder. It must’ve been partially because of Aki’s comment, since he glanced over before his stare returned to Ren. “Suppose the bugs are out tonight and you’ve gotta go something ‘bout it. Might I compliment ya on yer pet too; ravens are smart birds. I would’ve ‘ad one if I followed my kid dreams of bein’ a falconer. Stay safe out there, ya hear? The night crawlers live up to their name.” The buffer of the two nodded to the prince before he started shuffling over to where they had heard the man shoot his gun.

The cat breathed out a breath he had been holding, waving his tail in the air triumphantly. After the guards were a safe distance away, Theo called out to them. “Hey! Are you two alright? We heard there was a gun. And dogs!” He followed it up with a reflexive mrow. At Akihito’s comment about wanting one of the dogs, Theo looked up sharply with ears back and his tail waving around faster. “Hey, you know I could turn into a dog, right? And...” he calmed a bit, recalling his yawns. “If... you should like to wait for another time to hang out, I’d understand. I can’t sleep long as a vampire but that’s probably one of the things I miss the most from my life.”

"I wasn't flustered.", insisted the human teen, "I don't get flustered, I was simply expressing my apologies and promising to mind boundaries from now on. On the off chance I over step again please say something to correct me. I have never done well seeing others unhappy and that has caused me issues before." Aralynn smoothed out her skirts as if it was an cover up habit for an embarrassing truth she had just shared. But that didn't mean it was none the less true. It took years for the young women to learn that she cod not please everybody no matter how hard she tried to. That was a particularly tough lesson for the queen to learn since she figured she should be able too. Looking back up at Al, "And, even though you say you wouldn't mind me exposing you, I'm afraid I can't. It won't do anybody any good for me to do that would it? All it would do is raise my people's fear levels, leave my family without protection of any sort and cause me to loose I don't know or want to know how many of my men to an upset...Adrian? Of course he may just be upset you 'ruined his fun' he thought he'd have with me by trying to get me to guess at both your names." That last part of course did have a flaw the young queen briefly considered. Al could be lying but both his and the other spirit's, yeah that was going to take some adjusting to, names.

Fallon blinked turning around to see Konan running off with Henrietta after yelling at him. Was it something he had said or done? If that was the case then what was it? He watched as the cat was taken away by his aparent owner, before looking back in the direction his companion had taken off in. "Kon! Konan!", he called after his fellow vampire trying to get her to come back.

Ren just nodded when the guard spoke him him.He covered his mouth as he yawned so his fangs were hidden from view. He turned to acknowledge Theo and Akihito. “Well I got shot by the man earlier but luckily my coat sorta blocked the bullet a bit, unfortunately my shoulder is still bleeding.” Ruby watched the guards cautiously. “I think one of them saw your wound but I’m not too sure.”

The dogs that were owned by the man came back to investigate his corpse. They sniffed the man curiously to see if he would wake up.

Kenji Spiro / Nineteen / Tagged: Xander

The armor was weighty, unflattering, and clanky. The only thing that was good about this entire situation was the fact he was with such a humorous lad. Xander didn't seem to be enjoying this sort of bonne chimie they had together. Kenji knew that his good humor was more to do with the lack of blood and the snarky comments his partner was making of their entire situation- as if he wanted to be trapped with a human in this foul smelling armor. Still, he has had worse first dates. The thought caused him to smile from the sheer absurdity of it. He also doubted the ranger would find the same sort of amusement from it. He kept it to himself as they made their way up the slick stone stairway that led back to civilization. He would hate to admit it but he did have a lock on her majesty's scent. Queen Aralynn's skin seemed to radiate a warm smell like she had been bathing in rose petals all night. Her smell covered almost everything in the castle but it wasn't hard for him to follow a trail of where she went. The huge castle was somewhat of a maze full of human artwork and architectural grandeur. It was a bit ostentatious for his taste. As they moved passed guards with little more of a glance- he realized a huge problem with uniforms and matching armor. It did make it easy to show rank and position but it also made it rather easy for an intruder to sneak in. Kenij spoke to Xander in a hushed tone when people were thin on the ground. "Rather troublesome, is it not? Two prisoners being able to stomp about the castle like employees. With the threats coming in, maybe we should give them some advice on security, no?" His eyes twinkled with amusement but still the hunger was ever present in his mind. Part of him wanted to push the man against the wall and sink his teeth in- but the mission kept his focus and sharp on that and that alone. "I hope she is alone to hear out our criticisms or her guest might not be so keen with our intrusion." But it was as he feared as they neared the location the queen was. She wasn't alone and the scent wasn't human.

Their approach to Aralynn's scent was clouded but the smells of disgusting, savory meats and other foods. Human food never appealed to him though unlike some of his kind, he was able to stomach the food. It tasted like ash to him. The food presented an interesting challenge when it came to his senses. It was so thick that the mixture of rose was almost lost. Kenji blinked dumbfoundedly. He glanced over at Xander as if he would have the answer. Of course, he wouldn't. His eyes moved to scan again seeing a few halls they could explore nearby. He closed his eyes and tried not to put his nose to the floor to sniff her out. There... A faint scent of her mixed with other things was down the kitchen corridor. "There," he said more to himself than the human. He moved swiftly with long strides and a confident swagger. There she as with her silver hair and pale, vibrant skin. He was certainly hungry but he wouldn't dare entertain the idea of drinking from her. The male beside her caused him to furrow his brow. Something didn't feel right about him and he couldn't place why. And the man being so close to the queen was off-putting but he would keep that information in his pocket. With a swift movement, Kenji removed the helmet which unveiled his identity. He bowed at his hip as he respectfully spoke up. "Excuse my intrusion, your majesty. I am not sure if you can recall but we have met before. I am Kenji Spiro of Runemeth and we have much to discuss. It is a matter of urgency seeing as your heir Akira is with my ward and horse as we speak."

She said “I, um...it’s fine, I’m fine...” Could vampires even get fevers? She didn’t know...and perhaps she’d had one as a child, but she couldn’t remember...Therefore, it had obviously been too traumatic a thing for the then- small girl, if she’d even ever had one back then. She yawned a bit, shaking her head, blinking a few times as well. Humming quietly, she continued to lead the way back, catching the question from the girl. Shrugging, she said “There’s fields, meadows, trees...houses, barns, even a tavern and...the castle. So a lot like here.”

He sighed softly a few times, shaking his dark haired head at himself. He wasn’t looking down at the cat right now, but he could feel a bit of a shift of weight. Clearly the cat was looking at him, he pondered, as he blinked brown eyes a few times. He squeaked softly at the gentle tap of a paw to his hand, now looking down at the tuxedo kitty. He offered a small smile, trying to convince he was fine...Shrugging, he said “Yes, I guess there is tomorrow. Um... I have some questions now.” he said, shrugging. When he mentioned merchants, knives and taverns, the boy shrugged. “If...you don’t think they deserve them...you could swipe one tomorrow on the way...wherever, wherever we decide to walk.” he said, shrugging. His own gaze moved to the two vampires, though he was now ahead of them a bit more. He sighed softly when the cat kneaded his arm, though...the cloak had swished to cover his arms now. He lifted the cat a moment, staring him in the eyes, then shook his head and put Theo back into his arms. He tilted his head as he glanced back to the guards again...However, the buff guard had then given a hearty laugh, just as Aki had gripped Theo a bit tighter when he squirmed. He hummed as he remained still there, listening again.

He’d heard the guy talk about raven Ruby as well...He’d wanted to be a falconer? Shrugging, he muttered “Maybe you should go be a falconer, sir...A much safer job then guarding the town...” he said. Besides, so many men, and a few women, had been trained and employed as guards. He hummed as he stared down at the cat, then shook his head once more. “I’m glad to hear you are alright, Ren, but um...did you kill that guy?” he asked, a bit worried...He giggled quietly at the mrow, though it must be reflexive. At the show of nerves or anger at his comment about dogs, he sighed...However, when Theo mentioned dog shift, he glanced to him. “Are you saying you’ll live with me? Or just that I’ll see you again? We can wait until tomorrow, I already said tomorrow.” he said, hurrying along towards the castle. He didn’t need other guards seeing him...He was also hungry.

She didn’t even know the little girl who apparently owned the mixed feline had taken the animal back to her house. She suddenly felt her legs give way, collapsing to the ground on her knees. This, combined with her dress, kicked up some dust. She heard Fallon but didn’t run away again.

He’d settled back down down there after they’d huffed. They sat up, swinging their feet over the edge then standing. Xander walked uncomfortably after the general, unused to the weight of the armour but trying to walk normally for the time they were in the dark. It was better to practice then than in front of any actual guards. For a few moments the man even marched with high-knee steps, like he had witnessed in a parade when he was younger, but it was short lived. The action was both tiresome and assumably made him look stupid; the hunter wouldn’t be surprised if Kenji pointed it out later. If they even had a later with all they had pulled.

The man glanced over at his partner in crime, silently trying to analyse him. He seemed in a lighter mood, no doubt because of their newfound freedom, though he couldn’t be sure because of the helm masking his face. Finding the time right, Xander decided to pipe up to ease his own nerves. “I don’t see how armour like this can be so efficient. Sure there’s the plating, but it hinders movement an awful lot.” He commented as they walked out, though quickly shut up when he realised Kenji had caught a whiff of something. The whole tracking-by-smell procedure was not obvious to the ranger, who was completely perplexed because he was skilled in many other ways of tracking and had no idea how the other was making his way around so quickly. He must have been here before and knew the way.

Xander forced himself to ignore the decorative tapestries, spires, and arches as they passed, never having been in such a wealthy place before but giving up the chance to observe due to the determination for their survival. No guards were impressed with the pleasant distractions of art. Plus his companion was moving forward with haste.

It was this very haste that caused the ranger to almost run into Kenji once he slowed. He had let his eyes wander a tiny bit and didn’t notice the change of pace until he had to move to the side in order to narrowly dodge the vampire’s shoulder, though he tried to play it off as intentional. The comment Kenji made caused Xander sniff in amusement. “I imagine they’ll swipe that advice as soon as they see our faces. Though maybe normal prisoners wouldn’t know their way around so well...” Xander added. In all honesty he didn’t know if his addition was meant to be an observant remark or praise, though he supposed he didn’t really care which. At the next comment he only made a thoughtful hum with his mouth. Kenji was the expert in this matter so he felt obliged to quietly agree.

It was hard to tell of Kenji’s emotions because of the helmet, but the ranger was enamoured by the new overwhelming scent that wafted through the air. It was the smell of a kitchen undoubtedly, namely the smells of stews, breads, and cooked meats. The hunter had eaten his fair share of food, but it had often been prepared in the easiest ways- salted and over a fire. Whatever served at a castle must be only the best of the best with rare herbs and spices. It would be an unfortunate truth to say Xander was tempted to put their entire plan in jeopardy by stealing a single bite.

He resisted the urge, however, at a noticeably concerned look from Kenji. Thinking it a glance of disapproval the man gave the slightest shrug of his shoulders before turning his attention back to the hallways. Oh, perhaps the other kingdom’s general had gotten lost? Immediately Xander snapped into his instinctual use of his senses and cautiously approached a corner to peer around it. Being lost in a large castle was certainly different from being lost in the woods and was an entirely new challenge, however they only had limited options. Just as Xander was about to say that the coast was clear, however, Kenji started towards the opposite hall and voiced a confirmation. “The way to the throne room..?” He wondered aloud quietly, shuffling over to follow. His suspicions were soon proved wrong as they now stood face to face with the queen herself. How had Kenji managed to find her in the labyrinth of walls?!

The ranger only entertained the idea for a moment before Kenji whipped off his helmet and bowed, causing Xander’s heart to leap in his chest and clumsily do the same. Unlike the vampire’s smooth execution of it however, the brunet held his helm in front of his with both hands and kept glancing towards the man next to him. He kept his mouth shut for the good of everyone present.

The feline looked solemnly up to the prince and flicked his ears at the reassuring smile. Theo could sense something else stirring in the heir’s heart but didn’t mention it for the time being; such things were often a sensitive issue anyways. The cat left it at that and returned to his loaf-like look in his arms up until Akihito mentioned having questions. Theo regarded him with a head cocked to the side cutely. “Questions? Well, I implore you to ask them then.” Though whatever they were was lost at the mention of stealing a weapon. The cat gave a chuckle that resembled a weird meow. “Well none of them deserve them, but it might suit you better to have a fancier knife.” Theo remarked smoothly.

As smooth as he asked though, it was all undone when Theo was lifted into the air and squeaked. He was unaware that he could even make that sound, and now that he was being help up he was face-to-face with the human prince. They hadn’t been that close since... well, actually the two of them being close had been a bit commonplace with dog Theo pinning him to the wall and human Theo protecting him from a hungry Ruby. So why did he feel flustered now? In any case, the cat leaned forward to brush noses with Akihito before leaning back and being held closely in his arms again.

The guard looked a bit taken aback by Akihito’s statement, though smiled and nodded to himself a little bit before he left. “I think I just might, your majesty. Though maybe as a hobby. I could never give up this job.” He left once the other guard called him over to the man, the air turning more serious.

This brought Theo’s attention back to the pair in front of them. At the mention of the bullet he stared alertly at Ren. “So you did get shot? I couldn’t tell since the smell was masked, but I’m glad it’s just your shoulder...” the vampire murmured in concern for his friend. So long as the bullet wasn’t silver, it would heal. Upon hearing Akihito’s question the tuxedo sniffed at the air and perked his ears. “I think... I hear shallow breathing. It’s too close to the dogs though so I cannot be sure.”

The cat sat up neatly in the heir’s arms, turning his head to grace him with a side glance as they made their way to the castle. “Um... you are a prince, so it’s as you wish.” Theo commented, lifting a paw to groom himself. “And you’ve already decided that you wanted a pet, right?” He winked, though it may have seemed less flirtatious than usual because... well, he’s a cat.

That was when her attention was drawn from the vampire the sounds of footsteps and voice of a man. Instantly fear bubbled up inside of the young queen at the realization she and Al were no longer alone in the hallway. How was she supposed to explain an unknown man who she appeared somewhat friendly with? At least familiar with? t wasn't like she could lie and say he was escorted by a guard, because where was the escort that brought him to her? Even if she said he was dismissed after arrival there was no guard that could vouch for her word. Surely said man would be sought out to verify the royal's claim just as a mere safety precaution. Taking a breath Aralynn was about to turn around when the voice of the speaker suddenly dawned on her as familiar. Fairly familiar at that. A realization only further confirmed as correct upon coming face to face with the oddly armor-clad owner of the voice. "General Spiro.", Aralynn said with a bit of surprise in her voice having indeed recognized him. Was it time for the general to make his rounds and check on the Runemeth merchants in the city already? Time had gone quickly. His presence wasn't all that odd considering she'd welcomed him into her city to complete such tasks as a gesture of good faith towards her kingdom's allies. As well as it not being uncommon for him to act as a ambassador of sorts in the process. But his arrivals were usually forewarned with a letter of some kind...especially if he requested a personal audience with the blonde teen.

But at the mention of important matters and the female heir being with the general's ward.... "What has happened?", Aralynn said turning now to fully give the vampire her full attention.

Now was not the time for him to feel the weigh of his predicament. Overall, he held strong this far and made it to the queen with little problems coming up. The truth was still clear. Kenji was tired. He was pummelled by sharp arrowheads and tossed into a cold, damp cell. He was hungry too. All of these things on top of the fact he was in the presence of a particular scene. What was the queen doing with this strange vampire? Had Kenji ever met this man who must have came from Runemeth? When he straightened back to his full height, he eyed the stranger warily for a long moment as if to warn him not to do anything reckless. His eyes met back to the worried filled orbs of Queen Aralynn. It was clear she was aware of her current situation and perhaps she thought she was a bit over her head. Then again, he was the one who thought she was in over her head. He certainly needed to speak to the king about the current attacks to understand why it was happening. Though the general was a man of little words, he learned that the people around him were not mind readers and he himself needed to speak up. He tried to do so in a manner which was easily understood as well as eloquent. He took a breath in order to get himself to focus and clear his mind.

"I am afraid there was a little misunderstanding among your guardsmen and myself. I entered your kingdom to do my tasks when I came across her highness Akira." He almost went into the conversation over food but stopped himself. She was busy but most importantly he was too. This needed to be brief. "We were attacked there but the lady Jessika and your heir were able to get away on horseback before they could cause them harm. Sadly, Xander and I were not so lucky to get away and since we were suspicious characters they imprisoned us in your cells below." He made no attempt to explain the breakout or relaxed security they were able to bypass. "Someone is targetting your family and using means of bounty hunters to do it. I implore you to allow me to track down your missing family and bring them back to you, your majesty. And if you would be so kind as to hear me out on such matters of your security. From my understanding, there have been several attempts today alone to bring harm to your kinsman. Please allow me to assist you in these matters as a kingdom who has sworn their allegiance. I am positive we can get to the bottom of these matters." His eyes flickered to the raven-haired vampire near her before returning to her gaze. "As for the character of the male beside me," he gestured to Xander, "I cannot vouch on his behalf seeing as I just met him today in a rather unusual circumstance; however, he has done nothing to really cause me suspicion. Since I assisted him in escaping your keep, I ask you to please allow him to accompany me on my trip to find Akira and Jessika so that I may better have a feel of his character. I am sorry again for the suddenness but the present situation calls for some urgency seeing as neither your guards or myself could capture a single assassin and they may still be out there trying to find her as we speak."

The sudden takeover of the vampire kingdom of Runemeth was anything but sudden. The plans had been in the works for years- even decades. King Seamus was an okay ruler, to say the least, but when it came to affirmative action, he wasn't the best. The tension and possibility of a war looming between the human kingdom and vampire kingdom were only well known among the noblemen, military officer, and of course the king and his advisors. It was lucky that one such advisor would be the man to defeat the king in order to take his place among the masses as a ruler. Tobias Chikawa was an aloof man with the patience of a tempered monk. Among his friends, none have seen him raise a hand or voice to another person out of spite or anger. But when it came to gaining his rank of the king- he had to different the oversized man Seamus in hand-to-hand combat. It may seem unusual that such a young looking, gentle king would do such a thing but in actuality- peace meant more to him than a few wounds. As the official leader of Runemeth- there was much he needed to do to ensure things ran smoothly. One of which was familiarizing himself with the general of his army. The usual smile that kept upon Toby's youthful face was absent and in its place was a frown. Kenji was supposed to be back hours ago. The worry for the officer was one thing but Kenji was actually a friend of his. Furthermore, he needed to not only introduce himself to Queen Aralynn but he also had to go propose his ludicrous idea to seal the peace among his people and her own for some time to come. He paced the castle floor for a short while before plopping back down in his throne. "I need someone to please go deliver a message to her majesty of Ember so that I may go visit her as soon as she will let me. He smiled sweetly as he told the guard Okay, then watched him go. He hummed a moment more, turning his attention back to the cat thereafter. He watched him tilt his head, then nodded at him. “Ah, yes, questions.” he said, though had then lifted the cat up to do what he would, then put him back down after doing so. He’d heard the squeak, however...He hummed quietly as he nodded at Theo, when he said the Prince deserved the knives and daggers more than the tavern dwellers.

Shrugging, he said “Sure.” then looked off to the side a moment, letting out a quieted breath. He mentally shook himself, not wanting to unsettle the cat settled into his arms once more. He himself had squeaked hwen the cat brushed noses with him...He quietly coughed, shaking his head, then glanced to the vampire heir and his friend, because Theo had done so. He hummed quietly as he allowed Theo to continue to speak to the tall, muscular and blonde vampire. He was quiet as Theo did so, hearing the concern in the cat’s voice...Sighing softly, he shook his head, but then he asked if the guy was dead. Theo was the one to hear him and answer, after doing a kitty sniff and ear perk. He sighed in relief when the tuxedo told him the guy could be alive, though...maybe he wasn’t. He huffed softly, then started walking after callin good bye to the two vampires, though not mentioning the fact they were vampires. He giggled happily, though then tilted his head. “You should turn back into a dog, then...And about my questions.” he muttered. He paused at the castle gates a moment, then asked “Does garlic will drive away vampires? Can a stake to the heart kill you? That would, in fact, kill a human too...I’ve heard silver is supposed to harm werewolves, but....is it bad for you too?” he asked.
