Donnie didn't expect Basil to react the way she did. Falling into the water, he smirked. So maybe Basil did have what it would take to be Queen after all. Letting himself sink deeper into the abyss, he raised a hand to make sure his glasses didn't fall off and remained motionless in order to conserve energy. It was different underwater than it had been during the day. He could actually see but now it was too dark to see anything really. Still, it was relaxing as the water muffled his senses and it would've been even better if he hadn't had to worry about Soren. He sighed inwardly, and swam to the surface.
Swimming was something he had to learn in order to go gen hunting. His Father taught him the way all Lyttletons were taught- by simply being thrown into the water. Scary at first but Dons quick thinking mind had learned to adapt to the new challenge. Every other week he practiced swimming and like everything he learned, he perfected it. His swim style was almost elegant in a way.
As he swam, he silently freaked out when something tangled around his arm. A gasp allowed the little bit of air he had to be let go and he frantically tried to get away before just propelling himself up to the surface.
Breaking the surface, he breathed heavily and flinched when Spencer dove into the water near him, startling him. He grit his teeth and raised his hand out of the water to see what in the world was clinging to him- Sorens Scarf. The only reason he recognized what it was was because he thought it was a good thing to have if they were going to being playing with Fire. He sighed softly in relief and glanced up toward Basil and Soren, his sight blurred by water. It was all too easy to see them even without his glasses for they were both just blobs of green and purple. "If Soren could survive a plunge into water without being hurt. Let's see how he fares against being plunged into a fiery forest" he said quickly before his voice faltered due to it being cold. He swam to the edge and pulled himself out of the waterfall, teeth chittering lightly as he rose to his feet "Besides, I always have a contingency plan should something I do go wrong. I'm not an idiot" he mumbled, rolling his eyes slightly as if that was the most obvious thing in the world. Looking at the scarf, he debated between keeping it so he could use it during the fire or giving it back. Grumpily, he grumbled "Here's your scarf princess" he muttered, balling up the drenched scarf and practically shoving it at Soren, mostly bitter at the fact that the scarf has spooked him when he was underwater. "Basil, your turn to take a dive" he huffed then looked at Sorens wings with a sudden interest. "Hm, so my hypothesis was correct. Your wings aren't waterproof" he mumbled mostly to himself, "Too bad"
