"My family is dead." He says softly, looking at her as if she was a crimal. "Halfbreeds are trouble, and are not allowed, I suggest you go before someone else finds you and turns you in." He said steely as his face is close to hers, his hazel eyes looking into her blue.

I look at him awkwardly, pushing him away from me. "Too close... I can smell your reek. And, um, sorry. But my family's dead too." I shrug, but my eyes show pain. "And I'm not leaving. If you just found out you were a mermaid would you leave the water?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"I would if my life was in danger! You stupid thing!" He growled as his tail turned from a black to a deep blue.

I smile mockingly at his color-changing tail. "Woah there, moody. What'd you eat for breakfast?" I ask teasingly and laugh, despite whatever stupid 'danger' I was in. "Then why, exctatly, if my life on the line?" I say, still snickering.

One wanted to slap her, but he held himself. "You weren't allowed to be born! Some of us aren't as accepting of hybrids."

"I can tell you want to hit me right now... go ahead and see what happens." I smile mischevoiusley. "well, mermaids and people can think what they want. I'm proud of who I am, and I'll stand up for my rights." I say, determination glowing in my eyes.

"That's not it!" he continued to hold himself back from abuse. "They will kill you. They are faster and more skilled in the water than you." He said calmly, his tail changing back yo black.

Amusement flashes through my eyes as his mood ring tail changes color again. "Well, great talking to ya, one. Hey do you happen to know a guy named Four? You guys seem like you'd be friends..." I laugh at my Divergent reference and swim away. I grab my board from the water and swim for shore. I wondered if id ever be able to surf again.

Larkai soon returned to the dock. She wore a cute sundress and sat on a bench patiently.
