I look down at my tail. "Why is this so weird?" I ask, pushing my white hair out of my face. I go farther up the rock so that I am seen and flick my tail.

Marie nodded and smiled. "Nice name." She said and looked at him before looking up at the sky. "It's a really nice night out.' She said looking back at Carter and the girl.

"Well, hi Carter. That's a lovely lass ya got there." I gestured to the dog. "Anyway, what'cha doing out here this time 'o day?" I ask, pushing the blue-tipped hair out of my face. I put my surfboard down. "Yes, It's beautiful out tonight..." I say, looking up at the lanterns and stars.

(Well I guess I have Adira open now.)

After a few minutes of calmly watching the lantern-lit sky, Adira turned her head to the side. Looking to where she had last seem Marina, she realized she had moved further up the rock to where she was visible. The girl let out a sigh before returning her gaze skyward, figuring it was none of her business what the mermaid did. However, for the sake of the other mermaids, she felt like it was a selfish thing for her to do. If everyone found out about the creatures it would clearly not go over well.

Jason's smile widened, glad that she was enjoying it as much as he was. Gradually the mass of lanterns rose and their lights became smaller. Luckily, it was a mostly cloudless night. A few late ones were let off and he focused on those ones before back to the where the majority were. As the whole town had lit theirs off from different locations, the lanterns seemed to stretch for miles. He looked back to Lola as she asked him a question, thinking for a moment before replying. "This is the first time I've let these type of lanterns off, but i've watched them every year." As a child, he remembered letting off a few of them, but they were a different kind, ones his mother had seemed as 'safe'. He thought about whatever had said before, and became curious. "Where do you live then?" He asked, realizing that it would have to be around here, though she clearly couldn't live in a house on land.

"Thank you both for the compliments. And as to why I'm out, I came for a late night run." Carter replied. "They are releasing lanters tonight, I would have joined but I had other things planned. What would you two be doing at this hour?"

Payton walked through the streets of town, a blank look on her features. She wore black cargo pants that came to mid calf, thin soled grey tennis shoes and a light grey cotton tank. Her dark, chocolaty hair was pulled up to a tight high pony tail and bounced behind her. Nothing seemed exciting to Payton, all but the sea breeze to lift her mood.

"Well, obviousley I was out to surf... but I was also here to see the lanterns." My bright blue eyes sparkle with wonder as I watch the lanterns. "I watch them every year..." I look up at the lanterns, looking much like bright stars. I sigh in content.

"Well, I glad our first time was together. I enjoyed it." Lola responded, her smile seeming to widen. She got along with the other mermaids, but she would not deem any of them to be her friend. Jason would be her first friend, and he happened to be a human. She knew that her parents would not be thrilled to hear that she became friends with a human, so she would have to keep this a secret. She and Jason had to keep a secret from their own species. "I live in a village near a coral reef. It's underwater, of course. Mermaids can't stay out of the water for a long period of time." She admitted, setting her chin on top of her arms that were resting on the wooden dock.

Thomas gave a faint smile, reaching over to ruffle the top of Carla's head. The canine simply panted and wagged her tail, pleased with the affection. He focused his attention on the floating lanterns, his blue eyes noticing the different colors. He had purchased an orange lantern, but he could not find his due to the other orange lanterns. "Nice, huh?" He murmured, briefly flickering his gaze over to Jenna. He did not have much to say at the moment. The male was simply enjoying the show, but he had to need to say something, since she was sitting near him.

Walking onto the dock, Daniel held onto the lantern between his hands. He noticed that others were releasing their lanterns, so he quickly moved to reach them. He stretched his arms out and released his lantern into the sky. A grin formed on his lips, his brown eyes following his lantern until he could no longer tell it apart from the other lanterns.

Marie looked at him. "I'd rather not say." Marie said and sighed. "Have you ever seen the lanterns Carter? This is my first time seeing them."
