Midnight

Saturdays were maybe the best days of the week no school and the library wasn't open to the public until 9:30 so I actually got the daily recommended amount of sleep for once. My mother and I lived in a flat on the top floor of the library but the whole place was ours really. I woke up in my room at 8:38 in my baggy pyjama shorts and vest top, my dark blue blanket with a pentagram on it lay halfway across the room. I groaned rolling over as the light poured through my window, getting up was the hardest part of any morning. About 45 minutes later I was dressed in a black corset with a dark red skirt that, unlike my usual, was bunched up to my knees through convenient stitches rather than being naturally that length. I put on a top hat today with the normal heavy jewellery and made my way downstairs. I nearly bumped into Cassy as I came down the stairs, "Oh sorry Cass," I smiled, "Nearly didn't see you."

Neil drifted into consciousness rather slowly. The soft chirping of birds and the angry glare of the rising sun was proof enough he made it through another full moon. He lifted his head up quickly only to hit it on top of the metal kennel. He locked himself there last night and the keys lay dangling down his neck on a chain. He cursed softly as he jerked the key over his head and opened the kennel door. It was a tight squeeze, but it almost seemed necessary in his wolf form. He was not usually awake this early but he didn't stay long in the arena last night. His cheek did throb from the punch he received and when he looked in the mirror, there was in fact a nasty purple bruise against the top of his cheekbone. Lovely. He pulled on some fresh jeans and headed out the door at the construction workers across the street began working. The loud noises were too much for his sensitive hearing, so he decided to find somewhere quiet quick. He entered the library with little thought. It seemed like the best option. Once inside he seemed lost amongst the books, so he ducked into an aisle and began looking.

Ava groaned as she slowly rose from a fitful sleep. She always hated waking up. Her pillow was hard, and her back stiff, but she felt heartened by one fact: It was 9:47, meaning the library is open. Finally she'd be able to stretch her wings, or four legs, or fins, or whatever she had in whatever form she decided to take. Opening the door to her small flat and locking the door behind her, she started her stroll down the street to the library, appreciating the cool autumn air on her face.

"Oh, it's alright." she said with a smile. She nearly hadn't really seen midnight either. "So how are you?" she asked, just idly continuing the conversation.

Midnight

"Still waking up," I laughed lightly. "Is there anyone still down there who still wants up?" I asked, "Because the library's opening soon and..." I trailed off as I saw a boy with dark hair walk in and started looking at the book. "I'm late for my shift," I said before running off towards the counter. "I'll see you later Cassy!" I waved back at her. I ran past the boy and around the corner only slightly so I was behind the desk. I pushed my hair back slightly to make myself a little more presentable. "Good morning," I smiled at my mum trying to act like I'd been here all along.

Ava flipped her long black hair out of her eyes as she opened the door to this library. After walking in, she paused a moment to take in the shelves and shelves of books just waiting to be read. She glanced around, and after seeing the library had a few people in it, she decided she may as well take out a book and read it for a while. There was someone standing near the secret passageway, (Unaware of it, obviously,) so she couldn't go in right now.

Cassandra waved back, "Okay, see you later." she said. She walked down one of the book shelf rows and found a book that looked interesting. She sat down and decided to read since she didn't have anything better to do.
