Cole marched towards the forest, leaving everything else behind him. Of all places, with all the people, he had to be stuck here. With no way out. No way back to his real life. He gritted his teeth, frustration tearing at his chest like an angry ball of fire. He hadn't even realized he had been heading directly for the river he had found earlier, and stopped in his tracks. He could always survive alone, right? That's what he was best at doing anyways. He was never one to approach somebody in hopes they would end up friends. Cole sighed, attempting to release all his anger in that one breath. Of course, it didn't work. He kept moving, this time at a slower pace, until the rushing of the river water calmed him down. Eventually, his eyes landed on the same girl from the night before. She was sitting by the river still, this time her eyes puffier than before. "Hey," he spoke softly, something quite unusual for him. "You avoiding everyone too?"

Natalie glanced at him, remaining silent. She took a deep breath and stood up, before leaving their small cave. Her dainty fingers gathered her long blonde hair into a blonde ponytail as she walked out into the open, securing it with the band on her wrist.

Mahogany groaned and opened her eyes. "Wha-?", she mumbled, and rubbed her eyes. "Oh, hi" She looked around to see if anybody else was there, but it was only the guy from last night. She remembered his name quickly, Cole. "Say that again?", she asked him sleepily.

Cole snorted a bit with amusement, and took a seat beside the girl. He lifted one knee and draped his arm over it, gazing out across the swiftly-flowing river. "You slept here last night. Is there a reason you aren't over there with the others? It's safer, you know."

Mahogany looked at him. "Safer? If there were any creatures we'd know by now." She looked down at the river again. "And ya, there's a reason. They'll get mad at me if they know I'm the reason the escape is delayed. But if any of them have any sense they could see that the sea is'nt ready for us to sail. Besides, I couldn't just show up from the middle of nowhere" She threw her arms in the air to emphasize the point. (I spelled emphasize wrong didn't I...)

Cole chuckled a bit, without a touch of humor. "Trust me, they're not too happy with me either. Not really sure why. But I don't think they would burn you at the stake for pointing out the obvious. If you went out there right now, they'd welcome you with open arms." He seemed like a completely different person from the previous day. "By the way, I've already spotted a strange rat-like thing with wings. We have no clue what kind of strange creatures are on this island."

Mahogany turned to look at Cole, eyes wide open. "Now I get what you mean by safer with the others... and are you sure they would? I came on this cruise to get away from things, and if they were laughing about me or being rude behind my back that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?" She turned away from him and started studying a flower.

"Nobody's talking about you," Cole reassured her. "I bet nobody even knows that you survived. Everyone thinks I came up with the idea to wait, and contrary to what you think, they're a little aggravated at me for stating the obvious. They all knew we couldn't leave yet."

Mahogany picked the flower and traced it's delicate petals. "Perhaps... We could say I washed up on another area, spent the night in the forest, scared and alone, and then you found me when coming to get a drink from the river?" She looked at him, waiting for a response. "They don't have to know I saw you yesterday or that it was my idea. Would that be alright?" She bended down to grab some dirt and rub it on her arms and face, just a little so their story was more believeable. She took off her shoes and ripped them a little more, then put them back on. "Just so they believe it", she mumbled while using her fingernail to give herself a few scratches. The cuts on her ankle from yesterday were still there.
