"It is a little overwhelming" Basil agreed, " Everything up here is just so strange, but it's just so amazing! ". The Aboveworld was vastly different from Solodin. Basil had learned from books about what it was like, but this was nothing at all like what she had learned about. It was much better than her books had described. There was nothing like trees and the wide open sky in Solodin. Maybe some things were better experienced than taught. Even the cool breeze blowing through the forest fascinated Basil. " It really is like a completely different world up here, isn't it?" She said happily, looking up at the sky. " How is the Above world just so big ? Everything seems so wide open here. " She said, " I read that the Aboveworld sky goes on forever, or at least that's what the humans believe. ". Basil's gaze shifted back to the forest, admiring the large trees. Being a nature Quell, it was obvious that she a sort of connection with plants. Basil felt that something was off with the forest. At first she thought that is was just nerves from being so close to the Howler territories, but then she smelled the smoke. Basil's eyes widened a bit, " Soren?" She said, nervously, " Do you smell smoke?"

Arkady looked around at the dark and cold cell. The bars on the windows didn't do anything to make her feel better. "Oh wow, it's so nice in here!" Her voice echoed around the room. While it wasn't anything to be happy about, it was a roof over her head. "Thanks…" She looked at Hawthorne while she muttered the single word. He had tried to be nice to her in the beginning, given her options really. Arkady sat down and leaned against the wall of the cell. Hunger nagged at her stomach but was more like an old friend than a pain in the butt.

Aurora looked at Amille and nodded. She wasn't angry at her for not offering to go in there because she knew that Amille would be no help if she were dead. She breathed in deeply but only got a mouth full of smoke. Aurora coughed before running over to a nearby tree that hadn't yet been consumed by the fire. Her claws dug into the tough bark and she began to climb. Once she reached the top, and looked down to see in Juniper and Ash. They were in a circle of flames that only seemed to be getting smaller. Aurora yelped one last time, trying to signal more Howlers.

Ash looked up to the trees as he placed the jacket over her, realizing why he asked if she could shift. She turned to face him and shook her head. "I'm not leaving you down here. I won't do it Juniper." Ash's eyes reflected the flames that drew nearer. "I was the one who got us into this mess. You never would have come looking for me and gotten trapped if I had just stayed with you." Her chest rose and fell, her breathes ragged. Her eyelids were heavy, and Ash began to sink back down to the ground. Don't… close your… eyes. Don't do it Ash.

Adrenaline rushed through Leo's veins as he came to a stop, slowing at intervals as to not end up flipping his body over with his momentum. The fires bright light reflected in his eyes as he looked around for any other Howlers. He tended when he heard Auroras call again and followed the edge of the fire until he spotted her in a tree. He panted heavily and lowered himself close to the ground in order to avoid most of the smoke. "Aurora! I got here as quickly as I could" he said, his head turning sharply when he noticed the scent of both Juniper and Ash, his fellow scouts. "Is there any openings in the fires perimeter? Any way we could actually get to where Juniper and Ash are?"

" D-don't say that!" He coughed, but said firmly " This isn't your fault. Y-you.... would have came back for me, if I was in trouble." Juniper attempted to help her back down, holding Ash tightly. He was surprised at how weak he felt. The smoke made his chest burn and his head spin. But, Juniper couldn't pass out. They had to stay awake if they wanted to get out of here. Juniper focused on Ash, wrapping his arms around her," C-come on Ash... stay with me. " He said hoarsely, the smoke making every breath he took painful" I need you to stay awake. We have to get out of this together." Juniper coughed violently, wincing. Even he was beginning to doubt that they were going to make it.

The cell was simple; it had a cot with a pillow and blanket, a small table and a pitcher with water in it. Hawthorne shut the cell door after she went in, locking it with a special key. " It's not much, but it's home" He replied, with a hint of sarcasm. Hawthorne actually lived in the Tower, but ( obviously) in a slightly better place than the cell. Hawthorne made a motion and the chains around Arkady's wrists fell off. The chains levitated through the bars and into his hands. Hawthorne gave a sigh, tucking the chain into his belt. " If you need me, I'll be just down the hall. Give a shout, okay? Guards patrol at random times. I'll be back in a few minutes. I have... paperwork to fill out." Hawthorne was actually lying. What he really was going to do was get Arkady some lunch. Prison food was less than nourishing, so Hawthorne had decided to give her something a little better.

Arkady rubbed her wrists, red marks where the chains had been. "Alright." Arkady doubted she would call for Hawthorne, but it was nice to know the offer was open. "Have fun with your paperwork!" She could hear the hesitation he had when he said paperwork and had a feeling he was doing no such thing. Now that he wasn't in the room, Arkady stood up and went over to the water pitcher. She didn't bother trying to find a cup and began to drink. Her thirst had been killing her, and she sighed with relief after taking a long drink.

Aurora looked down at Leonardo, who had just arrived. Her eyes gazed over the fire, looking for anyway to get to Juniper and Ash. She spotted a small opening but it would be difficult to get through. "Leo! There is an opening right there!" She nodded in it's direction. "But…but you only have so much time! It's closing fast!" Aurora could see the fire getting bigger and bigger and there was no sign of it stopping.

Ash closed her eyes and leaned her head against Juniper. Her muscles loosened and she slowly went limp. It was like her body's systems were shutting down. Ash was gasping for air, but was only breathing in the dark, toxic smoke. A nearby tree fell down close to them and she could feel the heat and sparks that came from it. Don't… Her thoughts were muddled and it was getting difficult to think straight. Her heart slowed down and eventually stopped completely.

Juniper held her close, gently holding her head to his chest. His heart sped up as Ash went limp. " N-no! Please... Sister Ash... " Juniper whispered, his hazel eyes filling with tears. His voice was hoarse from the smoke and choked with emotion. Juniper fell into a fit of coughing, his chest and throat felt as if he had swallowed fire. This... really is it, isn't it? We're trapped... Juniper's thoughts were sluggish. He was slowly losing consciousness. " I-i'm so sorry.... I couldn't protect you...." Juniper murmured. He sank back, his arms still around Ash.

Hawthorne left for about fifteen minutes, taking care of a few things. He had to talk to the guards about Arkady and do some other things. But, like he promised, Hawthorne returned shortly. He was holding a tray filled with all sorts of things and a small pitcher with milk in it. The meal was truly fit for a prince. The tray, dishes, and pitcher had the Royal symbol on it and it was obvious that this was Hawthorne's lunch. " Lunch " He said simply. Hawthorne opened the cell door, going in, and locking the door behind him. " If you're going to try something stupid, like attack me, my soldiers will hear me if I yell. And I left my sword and things outside." He said bluntly. Hawthorne set the tray on the floor and motioned for her to sit too. " You're going to eat." He said, " I'm sure you haven't eaten in a while, so I didn't bring anything too rich. You don't want to get sick."

Arkady was hesitant to sit down but hunger won. She crossed her legs and looked at Hawthorne. Arkady had yet to touch the food he had brought her. "Why are you being so nice to me?" The food Hawthorne had given her was unlink anything she had the chance to have before. The Royal symbol was printed on the tray, dishes, and pitcher, showing that this dish had not been meant for her in the first place. What type of prisoner would have a meal like this? It was definitely peculiar. Arkady looked at the food, deciding whether or not she should eat it. She didn't want to owe the Prince anything and be in his debt.

" Would you rather I be mean and nasty? Honestly, I can do that if you want me too." Hawthorne smirked faintly. He poured Arkady and himself a glass of milk. " I'm not a bad guy. " He said, offering her the cup. Truthfully, Hawthorne wasn't completely sure why he was taking her under his wing. Partly, it was because he felt sorry for her, but mostly it was because he actually cared about her. When he saw Arkady, he didn't just think she was a mix. Hawthorne saw her as an equal in a way. Though he was once a prince, here he was, sitting on the floor of a jail cell, sharing his lunch with a prisoner. " Now eat" He repeated, " Before I change my mind"
