" Well what would you like me to call you, Prisoner? " Hawthorne said, a hint of scorn in his voice. Apparently, he couldn't be at least a little nice. It was simply habit calling her miss. Hawthorne was nearly always polite, especially to women and his elders. He gave an annoyed grunt, giving the chain a hard yank. " Walk ahead of me. " He ordered, " I want to keep an eye on you." Hawthorne knew she was clever. Though it was only a short walk, he was afraid of losing her in the crowd of Quell. many Quell had turned to look at them, murmuring amongst them selves. They shied away from Arkady and the captain.

Arkady held in her anger at the feeling of the chain cutting into her wrists when Hawthorne pulled on them. "Just call me by my name, Arkady." She noticed the way that the Quell looked at her as she walked by, and she kept her head high. Arkady didn't care what they thought about her. It's not like she had asked for a life where she had to steal to feed her friends. Her gaunt cheeks and prominent ribs showed that she wasn't like them. Wasn't one to always have food and shelter offered to her. Arkady lived a hard life, but she wouldn't trade it for a pampered one.

Aurora looked towards the smoke that now had risen above the trees and was visible against the clear sky. The smell was rancid and acidic. She didn't wait to answer Amille, and began to sprint before leaping into the air and shifting into her leopard form. Her paws hit the ground powerfully, her muscles rippling underneath her fur. Aurora heard the Howler call for help, and picked up her pace. The sound was distant though and faint. She only hoped they would make it in time.

Ash looked at Juniper and admired his sense of humor. Even though death loomed so close to them, he was still able to crack a joke. Her eyes widened when he winced in pain and she wished she could do something to help him. "Juniper… I appreciate y-you coming back for m-me, but-" Pain spread throughout her body as she coughed stronger than she did the last. It was difficult to take in a breath and she began to shake. "You may or may not have just sealed your fate." Ash closed her eyes and leaned her head against Juniper, wanting to spend her whatever time she had left blocking out the pain and heat.

Juniper coughed, his chest burning from the smoke. The forest looked dark with the smoke, only lit up by the bright orange and gold flames. It was somehow frightening and beautiful at the same time. " D-don't mention it...." He wheezed, smiling a bit at Ash. Though he knew very well that their situation was grim. If no one came, or if they couldn't think of a way out.... they weren't going to make it. Juniper held Ash tightly, meeting her gaze. " I know..." he said as firmly as he could, but the smoke made his voice crack. Juniper may have acted impulsively, but he stood by his decision. He winced in pain as he coughed, " It's... b-been an h-honor to fight alongside you..." Juniper whispered, wishing he could do more to protect Ash.

The scent became stronger as she ran through the forest. Aurora could see the flames up ahead and her eyes widened. This will burn down the entire forest if we don't stop it. She could hear the faint voices of people somewhere in the midst of the fire. "Amille! Howlers are in there!" She was forced to back away as the fire became more intense. Aurora signaled the other Howlers in the forest by making the animal like sound that would be foreign to Quells and humans.

Ash sat on her knees as Juniper stood up. Wiping her tear stained face, she looked up at the sky. Rain… please... She wished for a miracle, a miracle to help Juniper and the rest of the Howlers. Ash looked at Juniper and laughed weakly. "Are we saying our goodbyes?" She had always imagined herself going out on the battle field, in honor. Now it seemed her death would be meaningless and she would be swallowed up by the flames.

The setting felt almost surreal to Soren, for however much of Solodin he explored, the entire Aboveworld seemed completely different. He glanced back at Basil, mimicking her actions with a curiosity as he knelt down, reaching a hand into the water and feeling it run through his fingers. He smiled slightly, giving a soft laugh. Everything felt different, and he wasn't wholly sure why; it simply felt like another world entirely. "It's amazing... almost overwhelming to think," he spoke, voice soft with his distracted mind. He stood up, shaking some water off of his hand before wiping it dry against his shirt. He followed his sister as she strayed closer yet to the forest, opening his wings a bit more, resisting an urge to stretch out and fly in favour of staying closer to Basil. "It is! I wonder how it all works... and how long it's been here, like this. I mean- has it always been this way?" He wondered aloud, despite being pretty sure she didn't have answers either.
He observed the world around them, giving a little hum as he saw some of the wildlife past the trees. He furrowed his eyebrows, as they seemed to be gone as soon as he could get a glimpse of them, like none of them sat still. His initial thought was that they were probably avoiding them; they didn't really blend in, after all. "How many things are out here..? The Aboveworld is... genuinely massive, isn't it? We don't know that much about it..." He glanced over to Basil, focusing on her for a small moment. Not a lot from his studies really stuck in his head, besides some miscellaneous information on animals. A faraway feeling put his instincts on-edge, making him feel something was amiss, but with such a potent surreal sensation, everything that wasn't in his immediate surroundings feeling more distant than usual. He glanced up as the sound of wings caught his attention, birds flying from their former spots in trees, and for a moment he was distracted by them, fascinated by the little winged creatures.

Leonardo | Howler | Forest | Tagged; Er...Forest Fire

Leo had barely reached the border of Howler territory when his ears perked forward upon hearing the sorrowful call for help. Instinct launched him into a run, following the sound before actually spotting the black smoke that rose into the sky. Panting, his speed picked up when he heard Aurora's frantic call. Knowing the land like how he knew how many spots his animal form had, he had to dodge the thick roots of trees and leap over wild bushes. Running into something at this speed could injure him greatly. His eyes narrowed as the smoke drifted along the forest floor, squinting as it burned his pupils. Rational human thought veered to the forefront of his mind when his animal instincts failed to figure out how to act or what to do. A fire could not be tamed so easily when there was forest all around them. It was one of the ways humans pushed them from their territory time after time again. If the fire grew to big, they'd be unable to stop it and it would burn and burn until it could burn no more.

Aurora's sudden panic was enough to set Amille off. She was an Okapi and was running as soon as Aurora hit the ground on her paws. There was a tiny part of her brain that told her to run away and leave them behind. But she couldn't. She soon hears the howler cry of distress. Amille wasn't paying attention and almost ran into the snow leopard that has suddenly stopped in front of a burning path of destruction. She heard people in there, and had to act quick. She was a healer, and would be of no use if she was dead. "Look, this is gonna sound crazy. But I need you to try and get those people out. I need to stay here, so I can help them when you get them out." Amille emphasized the word when. She had total confidence in Aurora. As much as her brain and her body were yelling at her, telling her not to be so useless, that tiny part in her head that kept her safe took control.

Oliver | Prince | Quell | Solodin Square

Oliver raised an eyebrow not at how Hawthrone acted in the situation but because now he felt the need to play crowd control. "Sorry for the disturbance Ladies and Gents! No need to worry for our beloved warrior has taken care of the..ill mannered individual as he has done with all those who cause problems for the Quell of Solodin." He didn't shout but had a strong, friendly voice and a cheerful smile, "If any of you are worried for the individuals safety, I can assure you they won't be harmed unless they prove to be a threat. Futhermore, the King will make sure they pay the price for their crime. Thievery is to be punished after all. " As a prince so widely loved by his people, it was part of his job, as well as other high ranking individuals and soldiers, to reassure the common people that everything was okay. "Any other concerns and worries can be reported to Hawthrone, the soldiers, or any of the royal family" With that, he started conversing with the people whom had the time to talk and waved to others whom went on their way.
He spoke to older, hardworking Quell who wanted to ensure their own safety from such "beasts" like the mix. Ollie was quick to reassure them that Hawthrone and his soldiers already had contingency plans should there be a very serious situation involving "beasts" or foreigners.
He'd greet young children with an energetic high-five and patiently listen to them as they spoke all to quickly about the cutest things. Like how they wanted to grow up to be just like Hawthrone and catch bad people.
His most interesting conversation was with a trio of girls around his age. "Oh please, Hawthrone is not cute enough to stand around and watch him apprehend a criminal. Donatello though..." he said, smirking. His laughter was infectious and soon enough they were all laughing and discussing boys.
Oliver soaked up the attention he brought to himself, practically stealing it from Hawthrone and the prisoner. It was easy for him, all he had to do was smile, be friendly, and keep the peace.

Hawthorne cast a grateful glance at Ollie. he had hoped to mot make a scene as he arrested Arkady. Oliver was much better with handling crowds than he was. Hawthorne was well loved by most Quell and did well in the spot light, he had to focus on getting Arkady to the Tower without her escaping. He couldn't control the crowd of on looking Quell and watch her at the same time. Hawthorne turned his attention back to Arkady. " Hmph, Arkady? " Hawthorne said scoffing, " Fine, if that's what you want me to call you". He couldn't help but slightly admire her brashness and spunk. It took a lot of guts to challenge a powerful Quell like him. And even as Hawthorne had arrested her, she held her head high and acted as if she wasn't bothered by it. Secretly, he was impressed. As they arrived at the Tower, Hawthorne seemed to get his temper under control. He opened the door and led her Arkady in. " Alright, you're going to stay here until we figure out what to do with you. " He took a key from his belt an unlocked a cell door. " In with you. Oh, and don't try burning through the cell bars, they have been enchanted by the tech Quell. Your powers won't work very well in there." He warned.Looking at Arkady clearly for the first time, he couldn't help but notice how thin Arkady was. Hawthorne wasn't heartless, he wasn't going to treat her unfairly if it could be helped.

Juniper shook his head, trying to see through the smoke. He had been sure that his call would have brought help. But, with the thick smoke and the flames, he wasn't sure if it was any use. Juniper leapt back as a burning branch fell at his feet. Looking at Ash, he cracked a small smile, " N-not yet. I don't think we have to say our goodbyes just yet. " He was sure that he sensed other Howlers nearby. His shoulders shook as he coughed, before continuing. "Ash, can you transform? " He asked, wheezing a bit, " If not, it's fine. i don't think I can...."In her panther form, she might be able to leap over the wall of flames. Juniper slipped off his jacket, wrapping it around Ash. The old leather jacket was covered in soot and burned in places. Where the ember had his Juniper's back, a hole was burned right through the jacket. But, he hoped that it would offer her at least a little protection.
