Jace Parker
"Jace, don't you burn down this house!" His father yelled at him from outside of the bathroom. This was the most his father had spoken to him in months, and his words weren't exactly comforting. Jace panted and curled up into a ball in the bathtub. His knees were tucked into his chest and he buried his face into them, trying to concentrate just enough to lower his temperature. Meanwhile, his mother walked to the front door from the kitchen and opened it just a crack. Her hair was frizzy from the humidity in the house and she looked somewhat frightened. "Hello." She greeted Clara and Finny. "Now might not be the best time for visitors..."

finny //
"We're his friends. We dropped him off. Kyle messed with his fluids and made him get really sick and Clara can cool him down. I'm here for moral support, as the things I can do are not applicable in this situation." Finny explained quickly, biting her bottom lip. "Can we come in?"

Jace Parker
Jace's mom stared at Finny blankly. She wanted nothing more than to slam the door in their faces. She was afraid of people like them. People with strange abilities. But at this moment she was more afraid of what her son could end up doing then the two standing before her. Without a word, she opened the door and gestured towards the stairs.

Clara //
She cautiously stepped inside the house, throwing what she thought was a sympathetic glance at Jace's mother. Clara followed Finny up the stairs and to Jace's bedroom. "He better not be dead in there," she muttered.

Theo //
He gave Felix a lopsided grin, holding the phone to his ear. Chad picked up on the fifth ring, and Theo let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding. "Hi," he said nervously. "What's up?"
"Nothing much," came the familiar voice from the other side.
Theo looked at Felix and grinned again. Moving the phone away from his ear, he whispered, "He's alive!"

felix //
"Theo, were you doubting his liveliness? You should call your friends more often if it gets to that point." Felix chuckled. "Ask him what his favorite color is. And what his mother's voice sounds like. What his favorite book is. A phrase he can remember. Earliest memory. Ask weird things like that."

finny //
"Thank you." Finny mumbled to Jace's mother as she stepped through the door and up the stairs. "I'll bury him with the seven dollars I owe if he is dead. JACE? YOU OKAY, PAL?" She said, her voice rising to a shout as she neared the top of the stairway

Jace's father spun around in surprise when he saw the two girls. His hand was clutching something he had hidden under his jacket, but let go when Clara and Finny approached. "W-who are you?!" He asked in confusion. There was a loud, angry scream from Jace in the bathroom that made his father cringe. Jace could feel his back burning and that wasn't the only thing. The towels in the closet were beginning to char and smoke. He let out another furious scream and continued to push himself to stop. There was only one other time he could remember his heat getting this bad and it didn't end well the first time.

Theo //
He laughed. "Okay." Theo moved the phone back to his mouth.
"Who's that?"
Theo glanced up. "It's Felix... he's my friend from here."
"So you finally got the nerve to talk to someone?" Chad teased.
"Shut up," said Theo playfully, recounting his numerous long and lonely conversations with Chad prior to this week. "So, Felix, who is by the way completely normal and not a stalker, wants to know everything about you. Starting with your favorite color."

Clara //
She ignored Jace's father, her mind pushing aside politeness. Clara ran for the bathroom door, grabbing the handle. She winced, pulling her hand back; the metal handle was so hot it had left a mark on Clara's palm. She pounded on the door instead. "Jace! It's us! Let us in!" Clara drew back, slumping her shoulders. "Gods, I hope he's alright."

Jace heard Clara and Finny at the door and his eyes widened. They came to help him, again. He tried to stand but his body ached as he moved. Jace gritted his teeth and crawled his way out of the bathtub and across the floor to the door. He winced in pain as his burns got worse and he propped himself up against the door. With a deep breath, Jace reached for the doorknob and slowly opened the door for them.
