Fury sparked in her eyes as the Quell leapt towards her to tie her hands with the black chains he had used against her previously. Her heart beat raced and sped up as the metal came in contact with her wrists. The gears in her mind began to spin rapidly as she took in her surroundings. No easy escapes, no one there to defend her for her actions, no one to stop her stubborn and hot-headed self. It only left one option, and that was to go along with Hawthorne. The anger in her features subsided and the claws that had sprung out slowly retracted. All of her instincts were screaming at her. Fight back, run away! She ignored them though and Arkady let him easily bind her wrists together. She looked him in the face, and the only sign she was angry was the way her eyes flickered back and forth between wolf and human.

Aurora transformed back into her human form and laughed lightly at Amille's comment. "Their powers against our animal forms? It's an equal match. We were made to be equals. Though secretly, I think we are stronger than them." Her nimble fingers braided her hair and she breathed in deeply while walking.

Ash nodded and ventured forward ever farther. As Juniper transformed, she continued into the smoke. The gray haze was becoming thicker and she coughed. Her lungs burned and she was forced to shift back into her human form. Ash fell to her knees, the unbearable fog everywhere. She could hear Juniper somewhere saying her name faintly, and she said with a shaky voice. "Juniper…" With watery eyes, Ash could see flames leaping up before her.

Nowhere near where the current events were occurring, closer to a human village rather than any Howler territory, sat a shack. To humans, Quell, and Howlers alike, it was known as abandoned. That was simply because nobody ever saw its owner. On this day, however, as a thick trail of smoke lifted into the sky far in the distance, a bear sat firmly on an old wooden chair. Not quite a bear but not quite a person- a Howler settled between forms holding a cooked fish. Eric couldn't help but think that a bear eating fish was somewhat stereotypical, but none the less he finished the meal rather quickly. For a moment he let his small, blue eyes drift to the drifting smoke beyond the trees.

Damn the Quell, damn the Howlers, damn the Humans. He thought, his brow furrowing as he snorted in disapproval. To hell with their quarrels.

Leonardo didn't exactly plan to take a detour. It just happened he got curious and ended up not going straight back to Howler territory. The territory outside of their territory was different in a way. There was faint scents of humans here and there, far too faint to alert him to the possibility that humans were around. It was when he saw a triggered trap that he was reminded that it was dangerous to be out here, alone. So he hightailed it back to Howler territory, his long strides making it not to difficult of a task to get there in a hurry.

Amille smiled. That's the spirit Aurora!" She smiled and sorta skipped along. Amille could use a good fight, she's been so bored lately. Sure, she does enjoy being a healer, but there isn't always someone hurt. She stands around most of the time, waiting for an injured companion to come in. Now that Amille thinks about it, she probably wouldn't fight anyway. She'd be sitting on the sidelines, attempting to heal the injured warriors. That thought but a damper on her mood, and she sighed. While sighing, she caught the smell of something very frightening. Her animal instincts told her to run, while her human ones told her to investigate. She decided to consult Aurora."Hey Aurora, so you smell that? It smells like smoke, although I don't see why there would be any. Should we investigate?"

She was silently perched behind a bush, her beady eyes set on the rabbit that lay only a few feet away. She felt blood surging through her, her legs ready to spring into action at any moment. She slowly raised herself into a pounce-ready position, and jumped. Unfortunately for her, the rabbit caught sight of her right before she jumped and fled. Jessamyn ran after it, her huge saber teeth poking out of her mouth. Jessamyn could already tell it was useless, the rabbit was too small to get while running. She grunted and let the poor thing go, throwing her head in rage. "Damn it!" She yelled, scaring off all the birds in the trees. She walked back in the direction of the base, hoping she would get lucky on the way back. Coming back empty handed was never appreciated, everyone needed to eat.

Basil blinked slightly as she stared up at the water fall in awe. Sunlight filtered through the forest and made the water fall sparkle beautifully. It was a bit breath taking looking at everything at once. Basil had seen the Aboveworld from books, but never really seen it for herself. She said softly," It's just so beautiful and so.... gigantic" Basil stuck her hand in the chilly water, giving a bubbly laugh," I wonder how it got here? I mean, earth Quell didn't make all of this. Did all of these trees and things just grow here overtime? " She beamed happily as she took in everything," It is really strange!". Basil went out, closer to the forest, admiring the trees and plants with an almost child like facination.

Hawthorne was a bit surprised that she didn't fight back as he bound her wrists with the chain. Though, his grim expression didn't change. The man gave a quiet, annoyed huff, meeting her gaze. His emerald colored eyes were beautiful, but somehow they held a deep sadness. It made him look a lot older than he really was. Hawthorne may once have been a prince, waited on hand and foot; but now he was a battle-scarred soldier. Protecting the city wasn't an easy job. Hawthorne turned away quickly, yanking the chain. " Come on miss. I'm taking you to the Tower until we figure out what to do with you." Hawthorne began walking towards the large, intimidaing prison- the Tower. Hawthorne knew that she could burn through the chains, so he kept a close eye on her.

Juniper coughed violently, the chemical smelling smoke making it hard to breathe. Even covering his nose and mouth with his shirt only helped a little. The thick smoke made his eyes water and the heat from it alone was almost unbearable. Juniper was a bit relieved to hear Ash's call. They had to get out of here, together. He rushed over to where she was," Ash!" He yelped, wheezing," Come on, we have to go!" Juniper saw the bright flames getting closer and grabbed Ash. He turned to leave the way he came, but they were blocked by a wall of flames. Juniper wrapped his arms around Ash protectively," I'm sorry Sister Ash" He whispered hoarsely. But, he wasn't going to just give up hope even though things looked grim. Juniper lifted his head and let out a shout, it sounded mournful and loud, like the Howler call for help. Even in human form, the call sounded very animal like and was very eerie to anyone who wasn't a Howler. Juniper hoped that someone would hear it.

Arkady walked behind Hawthorne and kept her expression emotionless. She would show no fear or sadness. Wouldn't give anyone the pleasure of someone seeing her upset. "Don't try and be polite and call me miss while taking me away." Arkady stole one glance back at the way she had been running. She saw the man who had helped her, but also the outlines of the underground city. Right outside of the border had been her campsite, where her fellow outcasts were. They'll probably think I'm dead. Arkady quickly looked back to face Hawthorne, and could only hope he didn't notice. She watched him keep a close eye on her wrists, knowing that she could easily burn through them. But can I outrun him? Arkady asked herself that question while walking. It was maybe possible while in her wolf form, but she didn't know if it was worth the risk.

She didn't wait to answer Amille, and began to sprint before leaping into the air and shifting into her leopard form. Her paws hit the ground powerfully, her muscles rippling underneath her fur. Aurora heard the Howler call for help, and picked up her pace. The sound was distant though and faint. She only hoped they would make it in time.

Ash felt Juniper wrap his arms around her and she curled up slightly. Flames surrounded them, and it was getting difficult to breath. The fire was terribly beautiful and tears streamed from her eyes. Not from fear, but from the burning sensation. Debris fell down from the trees, covering the ground in a thick layer of soot. A large branch fell down and hit the forest floor next to the duo. Ash let out a quiet howl just as Juniper did as embers and sparks flew up. She turned away and faced Juniper, trying to not be hit by the burning powder. "Juniper… you shouldn't have c-come back for m-me." Ash coughed strongly, her voice almost a whisper.

Juniper held Ash closely, feeling the heat of the flames on his back. He hoped he didn't look as scared as he felt. The flames were much closer now and they were trapped. Juniper hoped desperately that someone would hear the call and be able to help. He coughed violently, his shoulders shaking. looking back at Ash, his hazel eyes were filled with sadness. " I c-couldn't just leave you b-behind" He murmured hoarsely, the smoke straining his voice. Juniper mustered up a small smile, " H-howlers always stick together, eh?" He shifted so that he shielded Ash from the debris as best as he could. As a ember fell on his back, Juniper let out a soft hiss in pain.

Ash looked at Juniper and admired his sense of humor. Even though death loomed so close to them, he was still able to crack a joke. Her eyes widened when he winced in pain and she wished she could do something to help him. "Juniper… I appreciate y-you coming back for m-me, but-" Pain spread throughout her body as she coughed stronger than she did the last. It was difficult to take in a breath and she began to shake. "You may or may not have just sealed your fate." Ash closed her eyes and leaned her head against Juniper, wanting to spend her whatever time she had left blocking out the pain and heat.
