Sapphire jumped at the sound of a voice and became wide-eyed with fear seeing a human so close to her. though she found them so facinating she was very shy and timid. this was the first time one had spotted or spoken to her. she turned to dive into the water but realized one of her fins had gotten stuck in between the rocks. pulling away too quickly would tear it. she moved herself farther behind the rock to try and hide herself though she knew it was too late.

Alex didn't want her to swim away, he was curious (and very hungry, wanting to know where he could get some grub). As he watched her hide instead of swim he inspected her tail again, was it just a costume? He remembered how it fit perfectly against her skin though and knew it wasn't. Then he spotted the end of it, it was stuck, the delicate silk-like fin curved to fit the rock as it pinned it back. He put his hands in the air and said with a straight face "I don't mean to hurt you or anything." He said with red cheeks. "I can help you if you'd like..."

Sapphire looked at the human for a few seconds more before nodding timidly in response. "y-es, p-please." she replied quietly. her voice was always described as sounding like windchimes. she was still a little nervous but it didn't seem like this human was bad. she moved a bit so that he could reach her tail fin a bit easier and pulled her hair over one of her shoulders. her skin was moonlight pale making is contrast beautifully with the deep colors of her hair and tail. she twirled a lock of it in one of her fingers out of habit.

I nodded. "I'd rather learn about humans than kill them...I mean, I could if I wanted to, but that's just so..." I shrugged. "Just not me. My dad would either disown me or if be banned from our kingdom for helping you." I stared at my legs and feet, uncomfortable with them, but willing to help anyways. I didn't like legs nearly as much as I loved my tail and the freedom that came with it. "Do you know how sirens and mermaids gain legs?" I didn't want him to be offended but I figured he should know if I was going to help him.

Sam was dumbfounded at her words. her father might disown her or she could be banished from her kingdom? she was taking such a risk to help humans? he shook his head in response to her question. "no i don't. what is it?" he asked.

I took a deep breath. "Well, we have to drink human blood, but I have never killed a human for his blood so please don't freak out!" I said it all in a rush, hoping he'd process it and not try to kill me or run away. "I just thought you should know since I'm going to help you." I nervously waited for his answer.

"ok... err" Alex cautiously stepped closer. Reaching into the water he carefully lifted the rock with both hands and tossed it a few feet, it being a bit heavy for him. He made sure the tail was clear of anymore rocks before he stepped back again. He smiled at her charmingly, though the success feeling was quickly gone as a rumble filled the air. His stomach practically shook the entire island as he sat down on his knees, spent from walking all day. He was used to a bit of a spoiled life, he didn't walk very much or do any work so his body wasn't used to any of this- especially on a empty stomach.

Sam wasn't really expecting that, then again, he had no idea what he expected. "oh...i guess that's a little strange but, okay. i can handle that. this entire day has been one thing after another anyway." he replied. "i didn't think you did, it just doesn't seem like something you would do." he shrugged. "i guess i would have to know sometime."

"thank you." Sapphire said quietly once her fin was free. rubbing the fin that had been caught she slightly blushed at his smile. never before had she been this close to a human. he was actually quite handsome. she heard the grumble and realized he must be hungry. who knows when he had eaten last. she picked up some of the abalone she had opened and held it out to him. "you can eat these if you're hungry..." she offered softly.

what were you doing on the ship?: Sketching and helping wherever she could.
personality: Kendra loves to sketch and explore. There's almost always an adventurous and curious glint in her eyes, along with a distant sad one. She loves to test her limits, running as fast as she can. Mangoes, Coconuts, and Bananas are personal fruit favorites! While many people hate heights, Kendra will almost never sleep on the ground. She prefers tree limbs and high rocks.
