Francis - engineer for The Sovereign - Angusaurian (lizard) - Location: Engine Room - Tags: Sorinn

Francis had continued to daydream a little bit as he circled up in the seat, his eyes trained on nothing in particular as he stared off into space. That was, until he heard a tapping sound that certainly did not sound like anything the engine was supposed to be making. Before he could check what was happening though, he hopped down from his seat and made a sound not unlike that of a baby crocodile. There was a person there! One a fair amount taller than he, and before Francis could react in the more formal manner one would use to address a guest or upper management, his slitted pupils focused on the uniform Sorinn was wearing. Identical to his own- a fellow engineer. The angusaurian’s frilled cheeks lifted in a small, open-mouthed grin. “Good day to you as well..! Sorry for not seeing you there. Ready for the big journey?” Francis beamed, excited to both practice his vocalizations and meet a kindred spirit. His hind claws clicked on the ground as he took a few steps back over to the panel on the wall and used one of his organic arms to knock on it gently. “Just finished up the post-liftoff checklist and sent it to the bridge, so we shouldn’t have too much to help out with just yet.” He reported with a purr-like sound of contentment.

Castor Saros
The Captain
Location: The Bridge
Tagged: Celeste, Niko,
Jerdana, Jezzel
Castor turned his focus towards Celeste when she spoke, informing him of the current happenings in regards to the pilot's role. He nodded in acknowledgement, "Excellent - keep us updated if you need to change anything." He replied, glancing over to Jerdana when she spoke as well, mentioning that the course was currently clear, and that she was working on the route for the next leg of the journey. "Great - keep it up." Castor said, quite glad that everything was off to a good start. Even though the crew hadn't even known each other before now, it seemed that they were working well together - though, of course, time would tell if this would continue, which he quite hoped that it would.

He soon heard the light sound of claws clicking on the floor, and he turned in his chair to see his first officer, Niko, approaching. He also heard a 'Hello' from just outside of the Bridge, and saw one of the security officers was there, having just stopped off while presumably on her route. Castor nodded towards the security officer in acknowledgement, though didn't invite her onto the Bridge, figuring that she was busy, and that there would be no point if intruders were able to get to the Bridge without encountering any security. Finally, when Niko spoke - asking if everything was in order - Castor replied, "It is indeed so far. We are forecast to arrive at the checkpoint on time and without problems. I doubt we need both of us here, if there's something else you wanted to do?"

Aerglo Vega

It wasn't until voices echoed across the cargo hold that they finally tore their eyes away from their reflection. They weren't alone - at least three others were here, and they recognised the voices as members of the Atlas crew. Perhaps there were more of them? But... what were they all doing in the cargo hold? In a search party, maybe? They couldn't wonder too much about it - they needed to focus on trying to reunite with the crew. Aerglo tried to figure out where the voices came from - and which one was the closest to them. One of them had asked if anyone was hurt, but Aerglo wasn't quite sure whether they could quite verbally acknowledge their injury without having to accept it - which they did not want to do right now. Eventually, they started in a general direction of the nearest voice that they'd heard, calling out, "I'm here too!"

After a few minutes of walking, Aerglo was beginning to wonder if they were even going the right direction, or if maybe they should have just stayed put until someone found them, when they spotted someone familiar, up on top of the crates. There was a wave of relief, as they could properly confirm that they were not alone and not just hearing things. They waved up as they called out, to get her attention, "Needle! Down here! It's me!"

Jerdana looked over at the pilot - Celeste, some sort of star fragment-type species, if she remembered rightly, and was intrigued by their pearly, light-kintsugi-like appearance - as she spoke to the captain, informing him of what they were doing. She smiled at the nod of approval, and also spoke up, "I'm keeping an eye on the signal map in case there are any changes, and working on the route for the next leg of the journey." Jerdana informed, wanting to be sure that everyone, especially the captain, was clear on what she was doing and that she was actually doing her job. She didn't want to be seen as only doing the bare minimum as and when she had to. Maybe she was just nervous about being underestimated or seen as not pulling her weight.

She turned back to what she was doing after approval from Castor, catching sight of someone that was just in the entrance of the Bridge that had called out a greeting to those on the Bridge. Jerdana hadn't replied herself, as the moment was only brief, and she would have felt a little awkward calling back out across the room for no real reason. Jerdana half-listened to the conversation between the captain and the first officer - who had just arrived - before she turned towards Celeste. "You must have travelled more of the universe than I have," she said, which was probably understatement of the century, and she added, "have you been to Illuvia at all?" From what she knew from the pre-boarding briefing, it was meant to be a stunning, crystal planet that was difficult to get to, but little other than that.

Highest Speed Needle Thread Through The Seven Keyholes||Stowaway Pilot||Cargo Hold||Tagged: Aerglo, Kahran, Star

"Doctor Vega!" Needle exclaimed, flashing excitedly as the medic came into view. "And more, if my ears don't mislead me. One sec, lemme just-" She sent out another pulse, waiting as the layout of the hold etched itself in her mind. "Captain Star," she called out, upping the volume on her implant so the others could hear, "go straight ahead, hang a left at the first junction, then just follow that line around. Kahran, there's a path behind you, take the second left, then the third right after that."

Directions given, the pilot dropped down, hovering around Aerglo's head height. "You're hurt!" she noticed, leaning in to get a better look at their face. "Did you get injured here, or did you wake up like that?" The plot thickened. Not only were they in an unknown ship, at an unknown location, they had wounds they didn't remember getting. Were they in a fight? Subjects of some illicit medical procedure? Caught in the throes of some mysterious space-time anomaly? This mystery was getting more and more exciting by the second.

Celeste - pilot for The Sovereign - Sentient Star Fragment - - Location: The Bridge - Tags: Castor, Niko, Jerdana, Jezzel

Celeste gave a small smile and wave to the security guard who had greeted the group, feeling unsure if she should speak up louder when others were still ironing out the details in regard to their work. They hoped the gesture would be interpreted the same as it seemed to have been standardized across the last civilization she had stayed at, especially since Jezzel- along with a few of the other species she has interacted with- were still a bit new to them. It was a bit refreshing in a way- although the star fragment didn’t know how long they had existed as such, it was nice to know that there were so many other beings to interact with. With that said, Celeste was certainly not familiar with the mechanically-enhanced canine that walked up next to Castor. This was not the first time they had seen or interacted as there had been quite a bit of preparation for the Sovereign’s maiden voyage, but the metallic being still couldn’t help tilting their head a bit in curiosity.

When Castor had acknowledged her report, Celeste gave a curt nod. Even if their mission was primarily for entertainment purposes, she would do her part to keep everyone onboard as safe as possible. The fragment felt pride in her role, and continued to listen to the Captain’s words directed to Niko just in case there was anything else they needed to know. Most of it seemed trivial however, so she quickly turned herself back to face her console. This was when they felt the gaze of another on them and glanced their way.

“I have seen many things, but I admit that I am not very good at estimating the experiences of others.” Celeste answered with a chime-like laugh. Their unidentified age usually caused more inconveniences than not, especially when most other living species had trouble comprehending so much time passing. “Illuvia… the visuals I have seen from here certainly paint it beautifully, but I am afraid I cannot say. There are at least quite a few with similar structures and atmospheres though, so it is a possibility.” Celeste lowered her head a little apologetically, but quickly looked back up. “I will admit that I haven’t quite taken a path like this before though. I’m sure the view will be worth it. You… your kind… hails from Earth, correct? You call your galaxy the Milky Way..?” Celeste tentatively asked, momentarily forgetting Jerdana’s species name and hoping they hadn’t said anything rude. They hoped that Jerdana didn’t mind the topic change, however Celeste was curious about the place the other came from. “Is there anything there that you think would compare to it?”

Sorinn Yang- m- 28- Vulcan- Engineer- homosexual; Castor- SO open- dad x mom: Trinity; two younger siblings- he may have human blood in him but no one has ever proven this- location: the engine room- Tags: Francis/open

The handsome but also cute male glanced around a moment. Shaking his head, his green-ringed-pupiled brown eyes looked to the other again. He smiled as he looked upon the lizard. He tilted his head at the crocodile like sound. Not that he’d really ever seen a crocodile, but his planet had lizards or something close. It was mostly desert, after all, so there were surely reptiles there. He’d never heard that sound from a reptile though. Since he didn’t know what a crocodile was, he didn’t know it was that kind of sound. He wondered if he should ask. He didn’t want to seem rude or… anything. They weren’t the same species, so asking could make him sound rude. Just like there were certain things you wouldn’t ask a human. There were things one shouldn’t ask a Vulcan, either. He’d assume there were things not to ask others of other species too. Shaking his head, he glanced around again. Then put his attention back on the lizard like alien male. He smiled as he said “It’s fine, I probably should have just spoken. I am ready for the journey,” he said with a nod to the other. He got a thoughtful look for a moment, then nodded at him. He then asked “I guess we’ll have to just stay down here, even if there isn’t much to do.”

Jezzel Robespiere- f- 24- Cosmosin (or Cosmic Cat)- Security Officer- Pan; Star/Night, Aurora, maybe also Celeste- mate/significant other: open- family: dad x mom, and many siblings- location: near/at bridge- Tags: Celeste, Castor, Jerdana, probably Niko

The lovely little female purred quietly a bit as she stood there. She hesitated, not sure if she should just continue on. She noticed that Castor did look over at her a moment. He nodded to her, so she gave a nod back and a small smile at him. She then looked down, watching the dog that went over to him. She resisted the urge to walk in and try and pet the dog. Niko was a sentient dog, so for one thing he likely wouldn’t appreciate that. For another, he was conversing with the captain. She flicked her tail back and forth, and twitched her ears. She noticed Jerdana look at her as well. She nodded to the...human. She thought that’s what Jerdana and others like her were called. It was a new thing, being around a human, and interesting as well.

When Celeste smiled and waved at her, she giggled quietly a moment. She nodded to the Star Fragment wrapped in light colored material. The thing she was inside of was called a vessel. At least Jezzel was pretty sure that’s what others were told to call it. She waved back to the other, then glanced back over her shoulder. She looked down the hallway then back up. There was no one there, not any of the other crew or any passengers, so she nodded to herself. She didn’t expect guests to come here anyway. She wouldn’t blame them if they wanted to. Ships were beautiful, wonderful things and great fun to explore. She ‘wagged’ her tail a bit, then stopped herself. She twitched and perked her cat ears, but she also had human looking ears. Sometimes people reacted as if it were weird…Not many had had that kind of reaction to her, but some did. She rolled her eyes thinking of those few people…She then listened as Jerdana and Celeste spoke, not leaving yet since no one had dismissed her and she didn’t want to seem rude.

She struggled to her feet, but followed Needles instructions to find her crew members. She could hear Needle asking how someone had gotten hurt just as she stepped up next to them. She didn’t add any commentary, but she considered their predicament. How had they gotten to the cargo hold? She narrowed her eyes, looking to see if anything was out of order but nothing stood out to her. Something was wrong, but what she couldn’t place.

Niko glanced around the Bridge, taking in as much as he could from his relatively low vantage point. A bustling hub of activity, it seemed. It stood to reason it would be a bit busy in here, considering they had only recently departed - but things would likely be calming down quite a bit now that they were on their way. Castor seemed to confirm this notion with his reply. All the better; when running a ship, no news was usually good news. He'd leave the navigator and the pilot to their respective duties. Best not to interfere when he didn't have to. It had been quite a while since he'd actually been at the helm of a ship, anyway.

"Oh, I'm sure I can find something to occupy myself for a little while." Niko said playfully. "Just making sure everything is shipshape for now." He could probably get that nap in early, then. Or he could go test out the pool. Just to make sure it was all in order, of course. After another curt look around, he promptly turned to leave. "I'll be back in time for our first check-in, then." He told Castor, with a small nod. While his presence wasn't really mandatory for a routine check-in, it was important to stay on top of things. Wouldn't want anyone thinking he was lazy, now!

Francis - engineer for The Sovereign - Angusaurian (lizard) - Location: Engine Room - Tags: Sorinn

“That’s good.” Francis responded, the edges of his eyes crinkling as he continued to grin. “And… well, I’m not sure that’s entirely the case.” The sand-colored reptile hopefully pointed out, leaning his body to look into the hallway and Engineers’ break room. While there were certainly some engineers who had gone off to do various things, including eating and sleeping based on their shift times and species dietary needs, there were still a few people hanging around the room in case anything sounded weird. Plus, in the case that something Really serious happened, Francis assumed they would be hearing alarms blaring. It should pose no trouble, then, for him- and maybe Sorinn, if he wanted- to explore a little bit and maybe even take advantage of the facilities onboard. While the lizard wasn’t particularly hungry, maybe trying some inter-planetary cuisine could be a fun experience. “Say… ah, I never learned of what you call yourself. But the name I have been using for the more speech-inclined species is Francis. Anyways! Would you like to join me on a venture around a little bit? It’s not shirking duties if you’re familiarizing yourself with your workplace. Besides, the engines are in good claws. Er- claws, fins, wings, hands, tentacles, and any other appendages, that is.” Francis tilted his head to the side and scratched his chin a bit. He wasn’t entirely sure how to address such a vast array of options in spoken language, although he didn’t want to exclude anyone either- especially as this fellow in front of him appeared to be equally as polite. As he had spoken, the angusaurian couldn’t help but stare back up at Sorinn’s face and lack of a second set of arms. It was a bit mystifying, seeing how similar but different other species were.

Soon Kahran heard more voices call out. There must have been several of them here in the cargo hold...but why? That bad feeling churned in his stomach. He had to get to the bottom of this - but he couldn't do that alone. Heeding Needle's instructions, he turned around and began to move down the hold in the opposite direction of the way he'd been going. "Second left..." He murmured to himself. "Third right." Affirming his directions, he kept a paw on the crates beside him to feel his way along, as he still couldn't see well at all.

Approaching his destination, he could make out two figures in the near distance. "Needle?" He sought. "Is that you?" He lifted his head slightly and sniffed. It had to be Needle - there was no mistaking the scent of an Eosaian for anything else. There was someone else there too, though, but Kahran couldn't make out their features. Picking up his feet, he hastened over to where they were.

"Very well," Castor replied, raising an eyebrow slightly at the 'shipshape' comment, unsure as to whether it was meant as a joke or not - or perhaps as the way the universal translator had translated it. Humour was not quite in his wheelhouse, and there had been many a time he had taken humour or sarcasm, even on his own planet, seriously or it had just otherwise got completely lost on him. He'd like to think that he was better at understanding it, but sometimes he was still quite unsure.
"I will send word twenty minutes before we're due to arrive at the checkpoint, so you'll have time to get back." Castor added, spinning the chair around slightly to turn to the retreating Niko. It would more likely be a half hour warning. He liked to make sure everyone was on time and things went exactly as scheduled. To be early is to be on time and all that. Perhaps he was overprepared at times, but it was better to be overprepared than underprepared.
As he'd turned, he noticed that the security officer was still standing in the doorway to the Bridge. Castor wondered why she hadn't continued with her route, and had a fleeting feeling that perhaps she was waiting to say that something had gone wrong - though there didn't seem to be that urgency. A little puzzled, but nonetheless polite and professional, Castor asked the security officer, "Was there something you needed?"

Aerglo was relieved that Needle recognised them - and further so when the pilot had detected that there were two more of the crew also in the area, Captain Star and Kahran, one of the engineers, and had called out instructions for both of them to make their ways over. But that would only make four of them. What happened to all of the others? Were they elsewhere on the ship? Or - and a sinking feeling told them was the more likely answer - not even onboard?
They had almost forgotten about their injury, the focus on finding the other crew members having taken over temporarily, and winced a little as Needle mentioned it. "I woke up like this," Aerglo replied, "I... I can't even guess what happened, it's very unusual for this sort of thing to occur." They did theorise that it had something to do with their abrupt loss of memories, but that was a result of the cracks rather than the actual cause.

At that point, they noted that both Star and Kahran had arrived at their location, so at least they were in a group now. They saluted to the Captain. "Captain," they greeted, and then turned towards the other, "Kahran. Is anyone else hurt at all? I don't have any supplies on me, but if we can get out of here and find the medical bay - presumably there is one - I can make use of it." Aerglo asked. There was little they could do for themselves, but as long as they made sure everyone else was okay, given there seemed to be just the four of them left, then at least they could do something. "I would suggest we leave this hold and figure out just where we are. If... that's what you'd have us do, Captain." Aerglo added, ready to move to find a way out of the cargo hold.

Jerdana Stone

Jerdana had briefly glanced back towards the security officer, attention drawn by both the motion of the wave from Celeste towards her - and the reciprocation of said wave - and also Castor had turned to speak to the officer. Such attention was then returned to Celeste, who was answering her question. She was slightly disappointed that there was no experience on Illuvia to speak of, but there was quite an exciting prospect, knowing that she wasn't the only one that would be arriving there for the first time. Even with their vastly different ages and experiences, it was somewhat comforting to know that even incomprehensible beings hadn't quite got to everything and everywhere yet.
"Well - then perhaps it is something new for both of us." Jerdana replied. A planet of crystals just sounded fascinating, and even if there were other planets that were similar, there had to be something particularly special about Illuvia to be considered such a sought after travel destination.

"Yes - Earth. Although some places refer to it as Terra." Jerdana replied, not minding the subject change too much - and, honestly, she quite liked the opportunity to talk about herself... or, well, humans anyway. "And indeed the Milky Way - named for how it looked like a milky band of light from Earth, way back when scientists were first studying it all." She explained, recalling what she had been told at the Academy. Then, she shook her head slightly. "There is nothing I can really think of... I've... not been much further from Earth than Mars before, so this is all quite brand new. I guess we have crystal structures that grow on Earth - both naturally and lab-grown. I quite like geodes - rocks that had crystals growing inside them. Though certainly nothing planet-sized."
