Lance West | 22 | Male | 1st Year Spring Student | Dining Hall | Tags: Open
Even though they had today off, Lance had gone to the dining hall for his lunch at the time he usually would, even when classes were on. He supposed it was just routine to him. Currently he was sitting at a table alone eating his lunch. To be honest, he disliked days when he would have nothing to do. He would prefer to be studying, especially when it came to nature, which was a subject he was quite fond of. His plan was to head to the gardens after he had finished lunch, just to take it all in, since he had the chance. That was one good thing about a free day, he supposed. It meant he could disappear into the garden and no one would notice or tell him to get to class. But for now, he had to eat, half paying attention to his surroundings, in case another student came up to him.

Horace Crane | 25 | Male | 2nd Year Autumn Student | Gym | Tags: Open
Finally, Wednesday couldn't have come soon enough. Horace hated having to greet all the new first years on their first day at Featherwick, although he knew he had kept that a secret well. After all, he liked being on good terms with everyone, since it meant no one would pry into his business when he didn't want them to. Now was not such a time though. Working out with just himself was boring, and it left him alone with his thoughts, rather than being able to have a 'nice' chat. What he did like talking with others about was magic, ideally ways to make it more potent. Magical theory and potions were boring, but he loved talking about ritual magic. After all, he was fascinated by the hidden power they hold, although the limits for what the school books taught were quite low, he felt. But, he wasn't expecting anyone to come up to him to talk about their work, especially not on their day off.

Warren Archer | 47 | Male | Head Of Autumn | Gardens | Tags: Astoria, Serena
Warren always did enjoy his days off, at least the days when he didn't have any work to review or grade. Not that he would ever complain of course, he loved seeing his students work and seeing them do their best. After all, if he wasn't going to reward hard workers, then who would? Today though, he had something on his mind that he felt the need to tell Astoria. He had a feeling she was in the garden today, being the Head Of Spring and all, and it seemed he was correct. Not noticing Serena at first, he briskly walks up to Astoria. "Ah, Astoria! I knew you'd be here. Have you heard? It's about Alzedore Andor, he's-" Before he finishes his sentence though, he notices that there was a Spring student there, Serena. "Ah, I didn't see you there! I apologise, you must be one of Astoria's students, correct? Never mind what I was going to say, I imagine you must have a question for your Head you want answering?" He steps back. It would seem that his 'news' would have to wait until later. That was fine though, he was impressed to see a student going up to the Head of their Season for whatever reason. Work related, he was sure.

Theodore Medina | 23 | Male (He/Him) | 2nd Year Autumn | 4th Floor Rec Room | Tags: Open
He always loved eating lunch before the rush of students, so he had been at the dining hall very promptly at 11am sharp, and was able to be out of there before it got too crowded and noisy for him. The chatting and volume always got on his nerves, making his anxiety worse. He just couldn't focus whenever he was somewhere noisy.
Thus why he was here now, the higher floor Recreation Rooms were always less-used than the rest because people usually didn't like going all the way up the floors, so he had a chance to be somewhere that gave him some more peace and quiet. And, also, he just didn't want to talk to people today. He'd had a not great morning.

Theo's hair was more of a mess than usual, given he hadn't been bothered to fix it when he woke up, and he still looked tired. He was currently sat in one corner of the room, a yellow blanket wrapped around himself, notebook and pencil in hand. Being away from large crowds also gave him a chance to do some drawing. Sure, he wasn't very good at it, but the little doodles made him happy and they helped him keep his mind off of things. And he had a LOT of things that would go through his head. He also had earbuds in, playing some music, Theo wasn't sure if that actually helped him focus but it always seemed to help more than silence, however it would mean that he wouldn't hear anyone if they spoke to him unless they yelled.

Belle LeRoux | 21 | Female (She/Her) | 1st Year Summer | Library | Tags: Jessel (Mentioned)
A free day was PERFECT for her to visit the library, Belle thought. She wasn't that long out of lunch, and she had instantly returned to the library to continue her reading. She had visited it on her first ever day here, had been in awe of just how many books they had, making it her mission to read as many as possible before her first year was over. Everything interested her, from the lightest of reading to the more challenging novels. Even then, however, she had also challenged herself to not read too far ahead in the textbooks they were assigned for each class, wanting to enjoy the lessons as they happened rather than seeming like she knew everything instantly. That wouldn't be fun.

Of course, she took a cursory glance around to see how many people were there, before picking out her next book to read. It was a fiction book about a group of people going on an adventure through dangerous lands in order to retrieve a powerful artefact, one that had caught her eye on her first day. Holding it in her hands, she checks the tables, before picking an empty one to sit at. Sure, she noticed that someone else was at a table, but they weren't in the same Year as she was so she didn't actually know them. Plus, she felt it would be extremely rude to sit near someone when other tables were free, especially as some people didn't like to be spoken to or interrupted while reading. She knew what it was like, as sometimes when she was very engaged with a book she didn't want to be distracted from reading it either. Taking a seat at the empty table, she opens the book up in order to read it.

Lucien "Luc" Lefevre | 24 | He/Him| Male | 2nd Year Spring Student| Homosexual| Tags: Theodore
Luc strolled into the Rec Room with a quiet, easygoing energy, his pastel clothes almost glowing in the soft lighting of the space. He enjoyed these moments of calmโ€”when the room wasnโ€™t bustling with people and he could let his thoughts wander freely. As his gaze swept across the room, he spotted Theodore tucked in his corner, wrapped in his usual yellow blanket, his pencil poised above a notebook. It was clear that the quiet solitude suited him, but Luc couldnโ€™t resist the opportunity to break the silenceโ€”just a little.

He approached slowly, taking in the sight of his friend and the messy, creative chaos of his sketches. His lips curved into a soft, playful smile as he crouched down in front of Theodore, just within his line of sight. Not wanting to startle him, Luc leaned in a little and, with a quiet chuckle, spoke in his lilting French accent.

"Tu sais (you know), you always look like a tangled mess of sunshine when you wear that blanketโ€ he says to his friend in a tone that was not judgmental, more teasingly affectionate.

After a moment of letting that settle, he added in a tone that was both teasing and warm, "Itโ€™s a good place to draw, isnโ€™t it?โ€

He leaned back slightly, his hand gently resting on the edge of Theodoreโ€™s notebook, waiting for him to acknowledge the interruption. Luc wasnโ€™t one for large, boisterous greetings, but he knew how to draw Theodore out with small, meaningful gestures.

Lila Whitmore|20|She/Her|Female| Winter 1st Year |Demisexual|Tags:open
Lila stood at the entrance of the dining hall, the soft hum of conversation and the scent of freshly prepared food filling the air. The midday rush had just begun to settle into a more relaxed rhythm. She had already spent the morning reviewing notes for her upcoming magical theory class, and now, with a clear afternoon ahead of her, she had the rare opportunity to unwindโ€”if only for a moment.

Her silver eyes scanned the room, her gaze briefly lingering on a few familiar faces. The start of the semester had been a whirlwind, and while Lila had always been disciplined in her studies, she knew it was important to maintain a balance. Taking a deep breath, she tucked a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear and walked toward the food line.

Despite the bustling atmosphere, she moved with the same quiet grace she carried in everything she did. The elegant blue cape draped over her shoulder flicked lightly with each step, its mint green detailing catching the light. As she approached the counter, she smiled softly at the server, her voice a calm contrast to the noise around her.

"Is the stew a good choice today?" she asked politely, eyeing the hearty, steaming pot. There was something comforting about a warm meal in the middle of the week, especially one that promised to clear the lingering fatigue from her studies.

Kai Avery | 23 |He/Him| Male| Summer 2nd Year| Pansexual| Tags: open
Kai walked into the dining hall, his usual confident stride making him easy to spot among the crowd. The midday hustle had just begun to settle into a more relaxed rhythm, and the smell of food was starting to overpower the chatter. His sun-kissed skin and tousled blond hair caught the light, and he couldnโ€™t help but grin as he took in the scene. He had already been through a morning of classes and practice, and now it was time to unwind for a bit.

The forest green and ocean blue of his track uniform stood out against the sea of robes and more formal attire, the colors a stark contrast to his golden skin. He grabbed a tray and surveyed the food options, his stomach already rumbling in anticipation.

โ€œStew, huh?โ€ he muttered to himself with a raised eyebrow, eyeing the hearty pot. He couldnโ€™t help but wonder how spicy it wasโ€”after all, heโ€™d always had a bit of a competitive streak when it came to handling the heat. Without hesitation, he slid closer to the counter, a playful grin tugging at his lips as he decided that today was definitely a day for something bold.

Headmistress Isolde Hawke | 42 | She/Her| Female | Role: Headmistress of Featherwick |Bisexual | Tags: open
Headmistress Isolde Hawke stood at the large windows of her office, gazing out over the expansive grounds of Featherwick. The soft fall of snow outside contrasted with the warmth of the fire crackling in the hearth behind her, filling the room with a sense of quiet solitude. It had been a busy weekโ€”the start of the academic year always brought its challenges, but she welcomed them. The lives of the students and faculty in her charge were never dull, and the progress of the school was always worth the effort.

She was dressed in her Winter-themed uniform, the mint green accents at the collar and cuffs shimmering slightly in the firelight, her silver hair neatly swept back in a low bun. Her silver-blue eyes, sharp and observant, flicked over the papers on her desk as she mentally went through the day's tasks. There were meetings to attend, students to meet with, and always, always, the matter of the ever-growing research projects she kept close to her heart.

With a soft exhale, she stepped away from the window and crossed the room, her movements graceful and deliberate. Her hands, though strong and steady, lingered on the edges of the desk, brushing across the scattered documents. She didn't mind the silenceโ€”having time to think was a luxury she never took for granted.

But as always, duty called. With a quick glance at the clock, she turned her attention to the next item on her agenda: a meeting with a few of the faculty. They had much to discuss, but she was confident that, under her guidance, Featherwick would continue to thrive, as it always had.

Her silver-blue eyes narrowed slightly with determination. There was work to be done, and she was more than ready for it.

It was the strumming of a guitar that gave her pause out in the hall. A small smile gracing her lips as she peaked around the door to take a look inside. She had seen him before, he was another first year she believed. Violet took a moment to way her options, she didnโ€™t have to speak to him she told the nervous tumble of her stomach. She had yet to make a friend 3 days in, the only people she had actually spoken to being the headmistress and her older brother. Squaring her shoulders, decision made she stepped into the room, her grip on the novel she had been carrying tightening.

โ€œUm..โ€ She bit her bottom lip, her hands beginning to shake. โ€œYour playing is lovely.โ€ She said barely above a whisper, her cheeks flushing slightly. She could do this, her shyness and social anxiety were all in her head, or at least that is what her mother kept telling her. Linc had said not to push herself and that she could take her time to warm up to others. But she wanted to talk to Rohan, music was something she has always loved even if she no longer played.

His spell had backfired, again. That was the reason for his state of dishevelment. Ice hung on the tips of his messy hair, clung to the tips of his fingers and the buttons of his clothes. A fine dusting covering him nearly entirely. It was a good thing he ran warm, otherwise he feared he would be in grave trouble with the amount of times he messed up a spell. If only Ice spells were as successful as his illusions, but no he had a lot of work left to due. Grabbing his notebook that he kept a tally of what he had tried, jotting down notes and questions on what he could have done wrong.

Glancing at the time he realized he was rather late for lunch, his stomach choosing that time to give a grumble. With a sigh, and not care for his appearance, he rushed out of his dorm room to hopefully make it in time for lunch.

Shouldering the door to the cafeteria open he beelined for the food. Giving a wide grin to the workers who eyed his appearance. โ€œStew sounds delicious!โ€ He smiled his thanks for his own bowl, turning to see if he could find a spot to sit.

There was supposed to be a meeting today, that was the one thing Clara was certain. She had even scribbled the time and date on her wrist in what she had hoped was permanent marker. That was in vain as it was now just a smudge of black ink, a blaring note that she really and truly needed to find her notes or even a planner to help keep her straight. If not for the fact that her head was attached to her body, she would have lost it.

It was her first year at Featherwick as an instructor, of which she was incredibly thrilled to be back as a teacher, but as she was learning she had much to improve on. Sure she excelled in her area of magic, solar magic was where she truly excelled but she had been successful with some wonderful warding spells. But she had already misplaced the quiz she had meant for her students and in her first class had gone on a tangent on the importance of control when it came to solar magic. Forgetting entirely to introduce herself and forgetting to have the students introduce themselves, so much for the ice breakers she had intended.

Nearly tripping into Isoldeโ€™s office door, she knocked with much more force than intended. Her pale skin flushed from the exertion of rushing there, her red hair piled on her head in a very messy ponytail. She straightened as she waited for permission to enter, clammy hands trying to straighten the rumbles in her flower dress. Hopefully she was not terribly late.

Mildred Fong
1st Year Winter Student | 68 | She/her
Location: Library โ†’ Dorm โ†’ Cafeteria| Tags: Lila; Mentions: Paz (kind of)

Mildred had rose with the first light of dawn, bundled up for her morning walk in the brisk autumn air. She wrapped a thick mint shawl over the long cloak of her uniform. The old lady had knitted it in the months prior to the start of classes, in excited anticipation for her new life. It was her little way of representing her track. She hadn't been in this much of a tizzy since she was a child! But all her cheery preparations seemed to melt like frost in the sun once she had arrived. She could barely understand the other students' questions in class, let alone the tutors' answers. Now that she was finally here, everything felt so much more intimidating. Was it possible to already be behind in the first week?

Mildred spent the early morning in study at the library, trying to catch up. Yet even this did not go as planned. As she traced out a rune in her notes, she must have murmured an incantation under her breath, or gotten a stroke wrong, or something. Because what should have been a Mending spell suddenly turned her notepaper to smithereens, causing a minor explosion that sent little bits of paper everywhere. She swept up the scraps with her cheeks burning. Mildred was sure one of the other students gave her the stink-eye as she hurried out of the library with her head down.

The rest of the morning was spent holed up in her room. She sat at her desk, surrounded by a mess of textbooks as she desperately scribbled notes. After several fruitless hours, she had to force herself to stop and clear her head. Mildred headed down to the cafeteria for lunch. A few missed paper bits still stuck to her now singed shawl and frazzled hair. Walking with a slight limp from her bad knee, she shuffled into the lunch line. She took a deep breath, finding comfort in the rich scent of spices from today's meal. "The stew smells lovely," Mildred mumbled, partially in response to the student ahead of her. She recognized the young lady as Lila, one of the brighter students from her classes. Lifting her tray so the server could ladle some into her bowl, she offered a crinkled smile. "Lila, correct? May I join you for lunch?" She supposed the other students would prefer to eat with those their own age, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Peregrine Corliss
Tutor of Potions | 32 | He/him
Location: Allotment/Gardens โ†’ Headmistress Office | Tags: Clara, Isolde; Mentions: Astoria, Serena, Warren

Peregrine had started the school year with a bang, literally. He loved to surprise the first-years with a massive opening experiment--- a tower of multi-colored bubbles rising from a roiling cauldron, expanding, expanding, expanding until it erupted into a burst of blue smoke. Of course, everything was contained by a powerful protective ward, shielding the students from any fumes or explosions. He never enjoyed doing the mountain of paperwork to make this happen every year, but he'd do anything to inspire the next generation with the power of potions. He would then close the hour with a lecture on safety in the potions classroom, explaining how to turn on the burners and use the cauldrons. Enclosing each cauldron was a spherical magic barrier. He instructed the students on the incantation to bypass this barrier when adding ingredients.

For the second and third-years, he prepared a much more practical class. The hour began with the usual safety talk, followed by a potion-making exercise. It would test whether they remembered the techniques learned in previous years: identifying ingredients, preparing tinctures, stirring in specific speeds. The fluid in the cauldron should reduce down to a bright pink goo, Erase Paste. It was wonderful stuff, capable of cleaning out just about any magical gunk. Those students who burned the contents of their cauldron could just use the others' product to try again. Best of all, it made clean-up after class a breeze. Peregrine could use the extra time for his own experiments and research.

As of late, he had been captivated by a certain plant. Ogrebane was a creeping mass of purple tangles, covered in wicked thorns. Every bit of it was toxic. New literature had been released, exploring the medicinal properties of the intermediate toxins in the young leaves. Peregrine had been lucky enough to get permission for a small patch of it in the gardens. He worked with the Headmistress and the Head of Spring to keep it maintained, enclosing it within wall-like magic barriers in the restricted area of the Allotment. Perry had spent the morning plucking the tiny red leaves with tweezers and placing them in a vial. A protective charm kept his hands safe. He crouched by the shrub in the late-morning sun, a look of pure concentration in his hawk-like eyes. The rest of the world only came back into focus as he tucked the vial in a vest pocket. He could see Astoria not far away, her usual warmth replaced by a pensive expression. His brow furrowed. He would be a fool not to notice the tension among the faculty, with rumors of spellcasters' disappearances. All he could do was strive to keep his students safe. Peregrine raised a hand and murmured an incantation, strengthening the ward around the Ogrebane plant. In such a climate, one could never be too careful around poison.

Dusting the dirt off his trousers, Peregrine stood up to return to the main building. He had a meeting to attend to. As he passed, he gave Astoria a nod of greeting. She was with a student so he needn't take more of her time. He also murmured a quick hello to Warren before excusing himself. Peregrine had just enough time to wash his hands and run a comb through his hair before the meeting. He strode to Headmistress Hawke's office, his grey coattails fluttering in his wake. He brought a tin of lavender shortbread he had baked the night before. As he rounded a corner, he spotted the Head of Summer outside the door. Clara reminded him a little of his sister, with the same kind of whirlwind energy. "Ah, Clara! Hello!" He chirped, as a reassuring grin softened his sharp features. "Here for the meeting? You're right on time."

Theodore Medina | 23 | Male (He/Him) | 2nd Year Autumn | 4th Floor Rec Room | Tags: Luc
Theo had been fully distracted, humming quietly as he drew, unaware of the sound of the door opening. At the footsteps of the person who was approaching. However, this would very quickly change, with the movement in the corner of his eyes his gaze quickly shoots upwards, and he yelps in surprise when he sees Lucien there. It seems he must have not realised just how long he had been sat there, yet of course it was predictable for anyone who knew him to find where he was. It took a few seconds for Theo to readjust to reality, the drawing all but forgotten as his focus was now fixed on Luc. They had been friends for a while, there was something about Luc's energy that drew Theo in, it felt very comfortable, and he was always super nice. . . Oh, right. He had been talking.

Though Theo began his response, it was initially in Spanish before he realised he was talking too fast to be understood. He needed a few seconds to translate the conversation in his head. Sunshine... A compliment? Bringing up what he had been doing... Luc's so attentive, remembering his hobbies. Was he staring too much now?
"Ah, well-" Gosh, Theo was so easily flattered. And he couldn't even hide more under the blanket, it wasn't quite big enough for that. Of course, the bright yellow of said blanket was quite the contrast to the warm purple and red of the Autumn Track, it was his favourite colour but he never got to wear it during classes. "... Yeah. It's always quiet, and... Nobody bothers me, I don't think they ever notice me"
Part of that made sense. Being as short as he was, and typically very antisocial, most of the other students would stick to their own friend groups. Luc, of course, was not part of that most. And Theo was thankful for it, they didn't both need to be confident and extroverted to become friends.

Belle LeRoux | 21 | Female (She/Her) | 1st Year Summer | Library | Tags: Open
Though not novel length, the book Belle had chosen was still pretty long. She made sure to check the time before she started reading, having decided that she would spend a few hours here with it before going to do some other things! Perhaps she could study her upcoming work for the lessons, just to make sure she knew what she'd potentially need to ask some extra questions about. Yes, that seemed like a good idea. With the plan in mind, she began reading, taking in the words and imagining what the world she read about was like. It seemed very exciting! Perhaps, if she got good at magic and graduated, she could go on adventures like this in the future?

Rohan Wilder
23 | Male | Spring Student
Location: 1st Floor Rec Room
Tagged: Violet
"The heart of a king loves everything / Like the hammer loves the nail / But the heart of a king is a simple one / Small and soft, flesh and blood" Rohan sang as he played the guitar, deciding to properly try out his verse, given the room was empty. Even for being the first floor, and it being a day off classes, still he was alone in the rec room. It was a fairly pleasant day, to be fair, and many students were likely off enjoying themselves on the vast campus or even visiting nearby towns for some shopping or other methods of hanging out. He did not mind - it meant he had the space to himself for a little while.
Satisfied with how the song sounded, he played a few more chords, figuring out where he wanted to go next with it. Telling a story... one that could touch even the coldest of hearts. Maybe change the world. Well maybe not quite that, but he could certainly dream.

As he replayed the verse he had, continuing with a few different lyrics to work through, figuring out what flowed better, he noticed the door open. Another student, standing in the doorway, tightly gripping a novel as though it had taken all her courage and then some to even step into the room, let alone speak. Rohan smiled warmly towards her, beckoning for her to enter the room more. "Thank you. I'm working on a song - it isn't finished yet. But when it's done, and when I sing it... something will happen. I'm not sure what. A song that can fix what's wrong, take what's broken and make it whole." Rohan explained, his voice melodic, as though he was on the cusp of just singing whatever he was saying instead. It was ambitious, yes. But he had a strong belief that he could do it. Even if he was just a couple of days into learning any sort of magic, let alone a song that would change the world. He was sure his old boss and mentor back at home would tell him he's being much of a dreamer, and he saw the world in a much better light than it was.

Oh - she hadn't realised a student was here. Goodness, she hoped she hadn't been too lost in thought and the student had been waiting too long. Astoria took a moment to figure out who the student was - ah, wait, Serena Wallace, a 2nd Year. Yes, now she remembered. "Serena. And, please, no need to be so formal outside of class, 'Astoria' is just fine." She replied, warmly. She was about to continue speaking, to ask if there was anything the student needed, when they were approached by the Head of Autumn, Warren. He'd started talking about Alzedore Andor, to which Astoria had a grave expression on her face - she had indeed. The famed Healer was the latest Spellcaster to have gone missing, his disappearance having only been reported on that morning, and it was rather something that would ideally be kept quiet while investigations took place. Astoria tilted her head towards Serena, raising an eyebrow, indicating to Warren that the student was there before he could say anything further - and he'd fortunately realised as such. "Warren, hello." She greeted, as though he hadn't mentioned anything else.

Turning towards Serena again, Astoria asked, "Ah, yes. Was there something you wanted to ask?" Quite glad to make a quick change of subject. She fortunately didn't need to be any-- wait. Yes she did. There was meant to be a meeting with the Headmistress taking place soon. "I'm afraid I can't stay long, though. I have a meeting I should probably get to - if it can wait until after that, perhaps?" Astoria added. Whoops. Well, it hopefully didn't matter if she and Warren were a few minutes late. Student matters and all. Though she could probably guess what the meeting would be about, it would still be important to be in attendance, of course.

Elias had been more expecting another tutor to enter. Not a student that made a beeline for his desk, wasting no time with getting right into the crux of the matter. He raised an eyebrow at the book the student mentioned. He knew for certain that she was a First Year, and was already talking about a book that wasn't even touched until Third Year. Well. Who was he to discourage independent research? It would be redundant to comment on the book that she'd mentioned - it was more than likely the student already knew it wasn't on the reading list. He was suddenly acutely aware that the quiz he was holding belonged to this very student, and a quick glance at the top of the page told him her name. Paz. A name he would not forget any time soon. He doubted that she only had 'some' questions, but what was the harm in answering?

Elias gestured to the seat on the other side of his desk, before sitting down in his own chair, shifting the stack of quizzes off the desk and into a box on the floor next to it. This would be more interesting than grading. "Ahh... that's quite a favourite of mine. I'll try and answer your questions, what have you got?" Elias commented, leaning forward slightly. He knew he actually had a meeting of some sort he should be attending, and there was other business he had in mind to do, but he figured he could postpone it all for the time being. And how important was the meeting, really, for him to attend? He was sure one of the other tutors would give him the rundown later. "Can I ask what it is you're working on? Perhaps make some recommendations for books to read through next if I can't provide a satisfactory answer?" Elias asked. Of course, his own knowledge of Magical Theory was naturally extensive, but he was sure there may be a few things he would be forgetting.

Lyra Damaris
22 | Female | Winter Student
Location: Astronomy Tower/Corridor
Tagged: Genn
She did not stop, even seeing another student in the corridor, only gesturing for him to follow if he wanted to talk. After all, she didn't want to be waiting around much longer than she already had been - otherwise she'd just be calling back her answers. She raised an eyebrow, as she tried to remember who the student was - oh, wait, Gem? Genn! From the year above her. Right, that made sense. She didn't think he'd been in the astronomy tower as well, had he? She hadn't seen him there, or even seen him leave. Had he just been hanging around? He seemed to occasionally be a little lost in thought or spaced out. Whatever. It wasn't really something she was concerned about.
"Not lunch yet. I'm heading back to the dorms real quick first." Lyra answered, still on the move down the corridor, the flight of spiral stairs to the main building, and then down and out into the quad.
"I gotta freshen up before lunch - I fell asleep in the astronomy tower last night. Spent a little too long doing some extra studying in there, y'know?" Lyra explained, and she laughed lightly, finding it quite funny. Well, it was nothing to be embarrassed about. It was comfy in there, and she was not the first and certainly would not be the last student to fall asleep in the astronomy tower. Anyone who really cared about that probably shouldn't be on the Winter track.

"What brought you back there? There's not exactly much astronomy or lunar magic studying you can do during the day." Lyra asked, curiously,

Paz Martinez||18||Female||Autumn 1st Year||Location: Elias' Office||Tagged: Elias

"Of course." Paz's eyes lit up in a way that signified she'd been waiting for years for someone to ask that exact question, She flipped to the beginning of her notebook, pacing back and forth as she spoke.

"My work primarily focuses on the nature of magical domains, specifically their limits, and the reason for them. Why, for example, we can manipulate air and water directly, whereas pyrokinesis requires drawing power from the sun, and geomancy is limited to simple plant magic. I have read several papers that theorize these types of manipulation should be possible, but I have as yet been unable to find any detailed exploration of the topic. Arenfeldt posits that the block lies in the materials themselves, that certain materials or outcomes are simply easier to manipulate than others, but I don't believe this to be correct. If you can provide any insight into where I could find more detailed writings on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated."

A manic light had crept into her eyes over the duration of her mini-lecture. Obviously this wasn't the whole of it, her true ambitions were much higher than simple theory, but all good research required a solid foundation. This would do, for now.

Serena Wallace- f- 20- Spring second year student- bi; Lila- SO open- 3 siblings- Tags: Astoria

The dark reddish brown haired one tilted her head. Noticing how Warren began to say something but then stopped himself. As if heโ€™d just realized she was there, and whatever he had to say he didnโ€™t want to say in front of her. She shook her head a bit. Then glanced around for a small moment. Before focusing back on Astoria, nodding on her and saying โ€œYesโ€ฆAstoria.โ€ She smiled at her, then glanced to Warren once more. Sheโ€™d heard enough of what heโ€™d said, since he hadnโ€™t stopped himself that fast, to be curious.

However, she decided not to press it. She didnโ€™t want to make the man angry at her, so she kept her mouth shut about whatever heโ€™d been saying to Astoria. She said โ€œI didnโ€™t-โ€œ but then cut herself off. She actually realized she could ask about the magic. She said โ€œUmโ€ฆI feel this..affinity or attunement towards nature and plants. I guess Iโ€™d call it an affinity or an attunement. Iโ€™m not really sure, butโ€ฆshould I focus on my plant magic? Or should I study and practice Phytokinesis and music magic equally?โ€ she asked.

Sirenn Wallace- m- 20- Summer Second year student- gay; Theodore- (SO)- Tags: Lucian, Theodore

The brown eyed and reddish brown haired one hummed, then shook his head. He headed for the upper floors of the building. Heading for one of the recreation rooms which was higher up. Heโ€™d noticed people didnโ€™t seem to go to these ones as often. First years seemed to stick to the first year one. Second years like him and Serena usually stuck to the second year recreation room. He found himself wanting to go to one of the other ones, though. He wasnโ€™t sure if he was allowed toโ€ฆbut no teachers or Heads were around.

If they were, he surely would have likely altered his course. Perhaps not, perhaps he would have simply asked the teacher of Head of track if this was okay. Shaking his head, he pushed away the thoughts. It didnโ€™t do to dwell on that kind of thing. None of them were around, so there was no point in getting into What Ifs. He headed for the room, and saw two others in there. He was almost surprised, but he shouldnโ€™t honestly be. He headed inside, and looked at Lucian and Theodore, saying โ€œHโ€ฆHello.โ€

He was shy and nervous at times, but he knew he needed to say hello. If he just stood there silently, heโ€™d start to feel awkward. If he said nothing and they finally noticed him, they might get spooked. They might think he was creepy, odd, weird, anything like that.

He didnโ€™t want that, but he also found himself not wanting to be in the room. The other two seemed to be in a conversation. He felt like he was intruding on themโ€ฆso he quickly looked away. Letting out a soft sigh and playing with the hem of his shirt.

Jessel Autumn- f- 24- Autumn third year student- pan demi; Kai- parents, siblings- Tags: open (Belle mentioned)

The ginger haired girl hummed quietly as she sat at the table. She opened the book, which seemed to be about creatures. Considering magic existed, these creatures might exist but probably not. After all, though magic existed everyone here was human. At least they all appeared to be humans, anyway. She was pretty sure they were, sheโ€™d seen no one with wings or pointed ears. Though she knew even if she had, pointed ears wasnโ€™t strange. There actually were humans with pointed ear tips. It was some sort of genetic condition. They were still human though, their ears werenโ€™t like actual elvesโ€™ ears. Elves seemed to have longer ears than humans. Plus the pointed tips, and anyway she knew they werenโ€™t real, or assumed they werenโ€™t.

She put those thoughts out of her mind, as she felt eyes on her. She looked up and over, seeing another girl nearby. However, by the time she looked at her, the other had already looked away. The other girl had a book in her hands as well. Seeming to be now focused on reading whatever book sheโ€™d picked out. Jessel shook her head, and looked back down. Focusing on her own book, as the other girl hadnโ€™t said anything to her. The other girl clearly didnโ€™t want to talk to her. This was fine by her, she was here to read. Though if the other girl did decide she actually wanted to talk, Jessel would talk to her. Right now, neither of them was making conversation, though. She smiled as she focused on her book, which had a number of creatures.

Genn Soma- m- 32- Winter third year student- gay- Eiji x Mina: Fuji, (him), Ikko, Lina- Tags: Lyra

Genn noticed how the girl didnโ€™t stop her movement down the hallway. This didnโ€™t bother him, she clearly had somewhere to be. He just shook his head, and watched her a moment. Before moving to follow her down the corridor, because why not. He wasnโ€™t going to follow her all the way back to her dorm room. He could at least walk with her back to the building. He felt like he needed to wash his face, anyway. Maybe comb his hair again, make sure he still looked nice. Not that it really mattered much, since it was a free day. He wasnโ€™t going to any classes, he wasnโ€™t going to be in front of any Heads or teachers. Unless he decided to seek one of them out. Which heโ€™d only do if he had any questions, which at the moment he did not.

He quickly nodded to Lyra, and said โ€œAlright.โ€ He then continued to walk with her, as they left the corridor to go down a spiral staircase. The two continued on after that, into the quad. He nodded at her as she said she needed to freshen up and that sheโ€™d fallen asleep in the tower. Heโ€™d definitely done that before, in his first and probably second year. He said โ€œI know what thatโ€™s like. Iโ€™ve fallen asleep there in the past, doing extra practice and studying.โ€ He offered a smile to her. He then said โ€œOh, umโ€ฆI just wanted to go there to have a quiet moment or two. I know I can go other places for that, though.โ€ He shook his head once, twice, then smiled at her again. โ€œIt isnโ€™t really important, itโ€™s justโ€ฆcomfortable there but I need food andโ€ฆit might be better to just go to my room or the forest for a quiet moment.โ€

Lance West | 22 | Male | 1st Year Spring Student | Dining Hall | Tags: Open, Mentions: Lila, Lincoln, Kai, Mildred
As he ate, his gaze wanders around the room, at the other students. One of them seemed to be younger than him, assumedly a first year student as well. On the Winter track, from what he guessed by her uniform. He liked the colour of her cape, and she seemed quite polite. Next, one that seemed older, and also on the Winter track. He seemed quite out there, that was for sure. Speaking of out there, a student slightly older than him wearing a green and blue track uniform and had an aura of confidence. More like overconfidence, Lance thought. And who could miss the much older student, Mildred. Honestly, he was impressed that she went to Featherwick, even at her age. Not wanting them to think he was staring though, he quickly goes back to eating his own lunch. He needed to finish up, although it wasn't like the garden was going anywhere, at least he hoped.

Horace Crane | 25 | Male | 2nd Year Autumn Student | Gym -> Dining Hall | Tags: Lila, Mildred
Once his workout had finished, he heads to his dorm to shower. Now though, he was hungry. Good thing the dining hall was still going to be open for a while. In his first year he had made the mistake of spending too long in the gym, and missing lunch. Needless to say, he did not enjoy waiting for dinner while hungry and exhausted. He couldn't afford to have that happen again anyway, not with what he had to do in his second year. Finishing up, he goes to the dining hall. Grabbing a tray and joining the line, he looks at what was available. Ah... it seemed that the stew was a popular choice today. Made sense, he supposed. He was very partial to the stew. "I'll have the stew... please." He smiled as he asked, and notices Lila and Mildred talking. "Greetings! I don't think I've seen you two before, you must be new here? Welcome to Featherwick Academy. I'm Horace." He smiles. "If you're looking for someone to sit with, I was just about to eat lunch myself. I'm more than happy to sit with you two for lunch, and answer any questions you may have, of course." Both seemed to be Winter students, but if they had any questions, he could probably answer them.

Warren Archer | 47 | Male | Head Of Autumn | Gardens | Tags: Astoria
Good save Astoria. He was glad he was quick at picking up subtle cues, it would've been quite bad if he had said something about the missing spellcasters in front of a student. Seeing Peregrine enter, even temporarily gave him an excuse to let Astoria and Serena talk. Ah of course, he was taking a sample from his new plant. Warren almost wanted to temporarily break the ward and pick some of this danger plant himself, it was sure to be quite the adrenaline rush. But, he had almost done one irresponsible thing today, and he didn't exactly want to poison himself in front of a student. However when Astoria mentions the meeting, that reminds him. Of course! They had a faculty meeting today! Well, he could probably hang around here until Astoria went at least. For now, he continued to pretend to be looking at the plants, although really he was just listening in to the conversation that was happening. It seemed he was right, it was about work related matters, so it was probably best he didn't interrupt. Once he felt like it was over, he starts to leave for the meeting, and quickly checks to see if Astoria was also going.
