Oh, how it was good to be back. Sure, the food here was disgusting and the clothing was scratchy but everything was so much simpler. Here everyone was warm and friendly, a smile was a smile and everyone was working towards the same end. Back at court, it was just a mess of politics. Nobody could be trusted, no-one ever said what they really meant and Ella was the biggest liar of them all. She played her part well, she smiled and cooed over the fine silks and rich food and displayed so much gratitude for such an honour to be bestowed upon her when in reality she wanted to throw up every time Prince Alastair called her 'my lady'. She hadn't originally planned to be such an important spy, when she first emerged into Delra she simply became apprenticed to a seamstress whilst running a free medical clinic for the poorer Delran citizens and delivering resources and snippets of information back to rebel headquarters. It had been enough of a shock when the word had gotten out about her clinic and she'd been hired as the private doctor for a rich family let alone when through some strange twist of chance she was selected to become the future princess of Delra.
Returning to headquarters was always going to be a risk, but it was one worth taking. The journey from the palace took her double the time it normally did since she first had to take the train to her old home south of the city, where she had left snowshoes and a disguise to swap out for her expensive clothing. The disguise was simply a plain hoodie and trousers but nobody would recognise the 'Princess' dressed like that out of context. From there she caught a train to one of the northern cities and then made the rest of her way to headquarters. Though she had arrived late last night exhausted and shivering the delay was necessary to keep the rebellion safe and she was happy to do it. As far as the Prince knew she was visiting her family on their farm deep in the countryside south of Delra, which would have been true once upon a time. Thankfully the Emperor himself seemed to care little about his son's bride-to-be and what she did with her time.
The entire Uprising was going to be at the marking ceremony and as a member of the Uprising Ella was not going to miss it. The Phoenix squad were joining the rebellion properly, the first with powers to wield against the tyrant, and everyone was hoping that these would be the ones to free Delra. Plus, Lanette was a member of the Phoenix squad and she wasn't going to miss her friend's special day. Ella stood with her family in the crowd, one hand ruffling Mia's, her younger sister's, hair whilst the twins, Leo & Lewis, squabbled next to her. The council stood on stage but the recruits seemed to be late. Ella wondered where they were, no doubt this was some scheme to make the ceremony more dramatic, probably Councillor Watson's. She fixed her eyes on the stage door refusing to blink, this would be the first time she saw either of her friends from the health ward in what felt like an age and she didn't want to miss a second of her time here .
