very desperate. no one knows who launched the missile, but it doesn't matter now.
many thought it would kill millions, but no one was prepared for them to reanimate.

it has been five years since the bombs went off and started what everyone calls the
'apocalypse'. two groups have moved into the same area, but one of them has a dark
secret. they are werewolves, stuff of fairytales, but are still hiding their true selves.
will the wolves attack? will the humans strike first? or will there actually be peace?

the pack of werewolves that have taken up residence to the west side of prickly pear creek,
which is fed by the missouri river to the north. the west-side compound is quite large with 18
homes and 5 other buildings such as sheds or workshops which have been converted to have
extra beds. they are the largest of the two groups and because of this, they need more food
which can be very difficult to obtain. luckily, there are three gardens and an orchard as well
as several fenced pastures for different livestock such as cattle, sheep, and even poultry.

just to the south and east of the west-side group. their compound is a good bit smaller with 8
homes and 5 other buildings such as sheds or workshops which have been converted to have
extra beds. they are the smaller of the two groups and because of this, they don't need as
much food as the west-side group, but still have their own gardens and livestock pastures.

for the last five years, survivors has tried their best to, well, survive. they've had to fight for their lives
against both the undead as well as the living as other survivors aren't too keen on sharing resources.

the west-side group has been settled for two years while the east-side has only been around for a couple
months. the west-side knows of the other group's presence, but prefers to hold back in hopes they aren't
hostile. a war between groups would only lead to even more hardships and only add to the undead ranks.

within the west-side group, things have been doing fairly well, their gardens have been producing reliably
and their livestock is thriving. the east-side, however, isn't doing as well. their gardens are new and their
livestock numbers are very low if they have any at all. there's whispers among the east-side ranks as to
looting their more productive neighbors secretly in the night and a few have actually snuck over to the
other side of the creek and stole a few bits of food as a test. some have gotten too bold and now missing
items are starting to be noticed by the west-side leaders. they know from the scents left behind that it
is the east side's doing and are now trying to figure out what to do before the rest of the group finds out
and takes matters into their own hands and start the war everyone is wanting to avoid.
