Coveclan has just lost their Leader- fawnstar -to an illness, the deputy ____ must now travel across the Island to the Spirit Cave to receive their 9 lives and new name.

Jungleclan has lost their Deputy- stormgrowl -to a Jaguar and need to set up a competition to appoint a new one.


Intro;;
welcome to the Island, here there are 2 "families." Coveclan, who live on a sandy beach surrounded by high rocks and caves, are excellent swimmers and fishers; relying heavily on the ocean and tide pools for their meals. Then there is Jungleclan, they live in a dense and dark part of the jungle, surrounded by thick foliage and large trees, they are excellent fighters and trackers; they rely on the jungle and streams for their meals.

Coveclan- like the ocean this clan is always changing, they can be docile and calm for the most part but can be brutal in battle though try to refrain from such things, seeking to talk things out in a peaceful way. they are mainly light colored felines- white, creams, oranges and light browns..every now and then an "entity" is born into the clan.

Jungleclan- like a dense jungle this clan is impenetrable, their brutal and harsh nature making them perfect defenders and attackers; they enjoy the thrill of the fight and won't hesitate to enter a battle with others. they are mainly dark colored felines- black, grays and various browns...every now and then a "ghost" is born into the clan.



Terminology;;
"Entity" - Coveclan term referring to an all black cat born into the clan
"Ghost" - Jungleclan term referring to an all white cat born into the clan.
(both are looked down upon and are given the lowest rank possible with room (in Coveclan) to be promoted to something better.)

rank description
leader- leads the clan.
deputy- second in line, in charge while the leader is away, replaces them when they die.
medicine cat- heals all and any wounds to the best of their ability, communicates directly with the Spirits.
medicine cat apprentice- training to be the next medicine cat.
guards- (coveclan only) stationed by the only entrance/exit, 2 guard during the day and 2 guard during the night, typically the strongest in the clan get this rank, though it must be earned.
sentries- (jungleclan only) stationed in various parts of the forest during the day, they must watch and report anything new in or around the territory, typically the quickest and sneakiest cats, they can be challenged by others for this rank.
warriors- toms and shecats who protect the clan and defend the territory.
apprentices- young felines training to be warriors.
queens- shecats who are pregnant or nursing kits.
kits- the youngest of the clan, typically leave the nursery around 6 moons (coveclan) or 5 moons (jungleclan).
elders- (coveclan only) the elderly in the clan, most respected even more than the leader. in jungleclan, once a feline reaches 160 moons they are banished from the clan and must leave the territory. (they are almost always taken in by Coveclan)
servants- (coveclan only) felines who have been demoted or are "Entities" working on trying to get higher up in the ranks, they typically tend to the queens, elders and help collect items for the medicine cats.
slaves- (jungleclan only) coveclanners or wanderers who have been taken as prisoners become slaves, "Ghosts" also become slaves and will remain in this role their whole lives and are forbidden from taking a mate to lessen the probability of another "Ghost" being born.

- you cannot kill or maim another person's character without their consent or permission [you can discuss it in the discussion thread].
- lgbtq characters are welcome, always.


Roleplay Rules

- leaders word is law, you will be punished accordingly.
- kits are to remain in camp at all times.
- every cat born into coveclan is taught how to swim, they are willing to teach outsiders who join but often prefer not to.
- jungleclan; kits become apprentices at 5 moons instead of 6 moons.
- medicine cats meet every half-moon.
- jungleclan; mates are chosen by the leader to ensure the healthiest and strongest kits are born.
- jungleclan; the leader decides the name of the kits depending on their size , built and/or markings.
- coveclan; kits are expected to start learning to swim by the age of 5 moons.


Jungleclan Ceremonies/Celebrations
- kit -> apprentice; regular ceremony.

- apprentice -> warrior; apprentices are blind folded [with large leaves and vines] and led out to the middle of the jungle by their mentor before being left alone, they must survive the night and make their way back to camp all the while being stalked by said mentor; if they are caught by their mentor before reaching camp they must remain an apprentice for another moon but if they successfully get back to camp without being caught they will then receive their new name.

- deputy appointing ceremony; if the deputy passes on or decides to step down for whatever reason, all eligible warriors (over 2 years or 24 moons who have had an apprentice) are able to participate in a contest of strength, each warrior will be paired up with another and they must participate in a mock battle (just pinning them down for 3 seconds), the winner will then have to "battle" the other winners and the cat that comes out on top will be appointed as the new deputy.

- warrior -> sentry; after a sentry has been in their position for more than 1 year or 12 moons, they are able to be challenged for their rank; if the challenger beats them in a mock battle (by either pinning them for 5 seconds or until they submit) then the challenger will take over that sentries- position and the sentry will return to being a warrior; if the sentry wins the mock battle then they are permitted to remain in that position until they are challenged again (either that same day or a few days/weeks/moons from their first challenge).

- birthing ceremony; like coveclan, laboring queens are built a nest in the center of camp where they are expected to birth their kittens in front of the clan, once they are born the medicine cat and leader look them over to make sure they are strong and healthy, once done the leader will then decide what their names will be. After their names are announced the queen and kits are then allowed back in the nursery with two sentries placed outside to ensure nothing happens to the new kits.

- they follow the typical death ceremony, cats are mourned over night and buried early the next day by their family or closest friends.


Coveclan Ceremonies/Celebrations
- coveclan follows all of the traditional ceremonies except for two.

- birthing celebration; when a queen gives birth to her kittens it is done in front of the whole clan, a special nest is built for the queen out of moss and the softest feathers that can be found; it is also lined with a bit of fur from every cat over 12 moons as a sign of respect for the birthing queen. once the queen and her mate announce the kits names they can then start the celebration, prey is distributed with a little catnip to each warrior (apprentices may have prey but NOT catnip, they are then sent to bed by moon high) they then present a special prize (like a shell, rock or feather) to the queen and her mate with well wishes and positive energy, this is a sign that the clan as a whole receive and accept the new kits. everyone is then given the next day off to relax and recuperate from the night of celebration.

- death celebration; unlike the other clan(s) coveclan has a special way of sending off their deceased loved ones, a special basket is woven out of large leaves and vines before being filled with moss and feathers; the deceased is then placed into the basket before being pushed out to sea where the waves can carry them towards the rising sun, helping them ascend to the Spirits.
