𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:

Once there was a lonesome, sour tom by the name of Grim. The angry cat traveled all over, and everywhere he went he despised the lack of community in the cats he saw. There was always fighting, either about territory or prey, and it made Grim nauseous. Summoning whatever friendliness Grim had, he attempted to form a group. Most turned him away, except two wandering cats named Patience and Clarity. Together, they worked to spread the word about a world where harmony and kindness could thrive. They settled in a mossy forest, where prey was abundant and life with other wanders was peaceful.

Until one day, Patience snapped. The once calm she-cat went insane, muttering about ghost cats haunting her, begging to be understood. Unable to take it anymore, Patience disappeared, leaving nothing behind except fear scent. Clarity chased after her trail, his once open-minded demeanor broken by Patience's change in personality. Neither of them came back, and all that was left was Grim. The tom grew older and older, until one day he could no longer move, and lay dying. A small, grey kit named Minnow found him lying barely conscious. As she stepped closer he spoke. "Listen to me kit, I have found a way you can live peacefully with others, would you like to hear how?" Minnow nodded eagerly, tired of the bloodshed and sadness she couldn't seem to escape. Grim smiled faintly, "then listen closely and I'll tell you the rules and ways in which you must live to preserve peace..."

Will you follow along with Minnow and build a community of peace? Is it even possible? What did Patience see, and why did Clarity never return? Where will Grim's guidance lead us?

[After Hours]

𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞

- Peace Bringer (leader) is a cat who must keep the balance of peace at all time. A ceremony is performed at moon high with foliage and flowers the group presents for the Peace Bringer to wear in celebration.

- The Peace Bringer's disciple (deputy) is picked by the Star Souls (ancestors) whenever they're kits. All kits under the age of six moons are brought to the Pool of Stars, there the Star Souls pick the disciple and reflect the chosen one in the water's surface. If no kits meet the requirements, then no disciple will be picked.

- Mediators are cats who settle disputes and help Peace Bringers and Medicine members decipher the signs given to them from the Star Souls. This cat is chosen once they complete their warrior's exam. The Peace Bringer brings their choice to the Star Souls for approval.

- Once kits reach three moons of age, they are trained to distinguish prey scent the hunters bring in, they also learn different common healing herbs and what they are used for. Regardless of role in the clan, all cats must know small ways to heal, in case of emergencies.

- Once kits reach six moons of age, they are a student.

- Teachers (mentors) take on a student and train them. The squad leader is in charge of both teachers and students, giving advice where they can. When teachers feel their students are ready, they present them to the squad leader, where the students undergo an exam. Students can only become warriors once they pass said exams, and may have to retake them if the squad leader deems so.

- Medicine members are cats who feel as though they are not cut out for combat or hunting, but instead focus on the health of the group. These cats speak to the Star Souls every two weeks to discuss bringing in new members, mysterious illnesses, and prophecies. There can be up to two medicine members at a time, and kits/mates are allowed, but only one medicine member is allowed to be pregnant at a time.

- Constructors are cats who focus on den building/ reinforcement. While they also hunt, these cats pride themselves in new ideas and ways to rebuild, and when repairs are needed they are excused from hunting if possible.

- Elders are cats that have suffered injuries preventing them from continuing their duties, or cats who reach a certain age. Elders may help with hunting, den building, or herb gathering, but only on their own accord. They are never forced to do more than they can.

- Hunters must always bring prey back and can only eat once kits/elders/queens have eaten first.

- Borders are not reinforced very much, and are only fiercely protected if untrustworthy or greedy cats try to take over.

[After Hours]

𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬

The Pool of Stars is the area Peace Bringers, medicine members, and mediators go at moon high once every two weeks to converse with Star Souls. It is also the place kits are chosen to become disciples. A small water fall flows down into a pool of vibrant almost unnatural blue water. The small pool is surrounded by rocks where the gathered cats sit. Once the pool is filled with stars, they greet the Star Souls in Starclan to discuss prophecies and quarrels inside the clan. If any cat fishes or swims in the pool they are suspended from the clan for a week as this action is seen as treason.

𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬

The creek running through the eastern region of the forest flows underneath a natural bridge covered in moss. This bridge connects the main land to a small isolated island surrounded by the creek, where cats who wish to, learn to fish. It is isolated from predators, and a guard is always stationed at the bridge to intersect any potential dangers. This area is known as the Mossy Bridge. Water vole, smaller fish, and frogs are common here. Rabbits and thrush are uncommon here, but are still occasionally spotted.

The creek running towards the western part of the region tumbles over a landslide of rocks. This part of the creek is slightly deeper as it feeds into a river. It is surrounded by tall birch trees, and is used by more seasoned hunters. Unless the student is extremely gifted in fishing, they do not train here. Water vole, larger fish, frogs, turtles, wren, and mourning doves are common here.

The forest is covered in moss, including any hidden rocks. One must be careful traversing throughout the forest as one false step could twist a paw. The moss helps to hide the sound of footsteps, and the humid environment helps the small woodland animals thrive. Oak, myrtle, and laurel trees are common, and most of the trees growing here are ancient. Due to their age, these trees are thick and tall, offering shade from the sun and long sturdy branches for small birds to live in. Common predators are deer and raccoons. Uncommon predators are badgers and foxes. Rare predators are lynx and bears. Squirrels, rabbits, mice, small birds, lizards, shrew, voles, and chipmunks are commonly found in the forest.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬

The Lilac Meadows lay west of the camp. A small hidden trail large enough for one cat at a time to walk through cuts through the lilac fronds. In the center of the field of lilacs lies a dirt clearing used for combat training. The lilac scent is useful for training other cats as it distinguishes the attackers scent, causing the trainee to rely only on sound and instinct. Since the lilac stems reach high above the cats' heads they are sheltered from view of predators, still a guard sits near the trail just in case.

The Tree Tunnel consists of two giant mossy trees converging to form a natural hollow underneath their roots. Students must travel and make camp in the hollow the night they are told they are ready for their exam. Unbeknownst to them, a squad Leader will silently observe them over the next 24 hours. The students must hunt, work as a team if other students are testing, and finally fight off an ambush by the Squad Leader to pass. This exam was created to ensure that the students hoping to become teachers/warriors will become dependable campmates. If a student fails their exam, they must wait another two moons to retake the exam. (PM me if you wish for this to happen to your student)

𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭:

Camp entrance - Similar to the Tree Tunnel, two ancient trees intertwine their roots, creating a small walkway beneath them. Between the two trees is a small space where guards watch over the sleeping clan. Once a student passes an exam, they sit in this look out space in complete silence. If multiple students pass at once, they will station themselves on either side of the walkway, looking out into the forest.

Walking through the camp entrance you are greeted with a mossy cliff face. Rocks jut out, forming a natural staircase up to the three carved out dens. The highest den is the largest, this is the Warriors den. Warriors, teachers, disciples, and squad leaders all share their dens in this enormous hollow.

A little ways below them but still off the ground is the Elder's den. Three flat rocks jut out to create a path leading to the entrance of the Elder's den.

To the far left of the cliff face is the last rocky den, the Student's den. The Student's den is smaller than the Warrior's den, but larger than the Elder's den. The entrance to the Student's den consists of one large flat rock with a smaller flat rock stacked on top that steps up into the den. Trees growing beside the Student's den offer shelter from the weather by blocking the entrance with leaves.

The prey caught by the clan is deposited on a sandy patch near the tree, the shade protects the quarry from spoil. A small creek snakes from behind the cliff face and cuts through the left side of the camp. Any fish caught are laid in the shallowest part of the creek to keep them from spoiling. Kits can be taught to swim in the shallow parts of the creek if their parents/guardian approve.

The Medicine Member's den is located on the left side of the camp near the cliff face. A large red wood tree with a hollowed out den in the roots shelters the cats and their patients from harm. Roots inside of the den twist and curl to make perfect shelves and storing spaces for herbs. With the creek being near, any herbs needing soaked or moss for a patient to drink from is easily doable.

On the right side of the clearing a tall mossy boulder surrounded by ferns protects the Nursery. Brambles are secured around the ferns to create a barrier, and a small opening in one of the ferns in the back makes for a quick escape route if necessary.

Two hollowed out logs stacked on top of each other on the ground with a tree growing on top of them create the Peace Bringer's den. Drooping moss covers the entrance to the bottom log where the Peace Bringer's nest resides. The top log juts out into a ledge like structure, where the Peace Bringer addresses the clan. This ledge is called the Gathering Edge.

Minnow sat staring at her aching paws. Dirt buried deep in her claws, making them pulse with pain. She had spent all day burying the loner, Grim.

Rumors has spread around the forest that a cat named Grim wished to unite all of the wandering cats, and live in peace. She had heard cats murmuring about it when she was hunting, and it intrigued her. Never had she heard of such a life, yet she yearned for it. A permanent home where all cats could live in peace. She would do anything for that. So, she sought out Grim. She was delighted to have found him, but confused when she saw he was alone. Grim was rumored to be living with two cats, Clarity and Patience, yet they were nowhere to be found. What she did find however horrified her. Grim was slipping away.

His last words were hastily filled with ideas and ways for her to build a group of cats who would know nothing but peace. "Find cats you can trust. Form a bond with them. Learn from them. I'll give you a moon and a half to find a group and a home. Then, go to the falls that end in a shallow pool surrounded by rocks. I will be there to guide you further." Then he was gone.

Shaking with dread she wasn't sure she could do it. As the orange rays faded to twilight she still wasn't sure she could do it. But she had to try.

~~ the next day ~~

Sunshine warmed her grey pelt, making her cozy after the chilly night beside Grim's grave. Curling deeper into a ball Minnow was set on soaking up the warmth until her belly reminded her of just how long it had been since her last meal. Blinking open one dark blue eye, then another, she arched her back in an enormous stretch causing an equally enormous yawn to escape her. Shaking the scraps of moss that littered the forest floor off of her pelt she set off. For such a young cat, she had slightly longer legs than those her age, which made it useful for hunting in trees. The moss beneath her feet silenced her approach as she heard rustling in the tree above her. Looking up into the thick branches, she spotted a bushy tail. Perfect. Checking to make sure the wind was on her side, she readied herself to jump whenever she heard a twig snap! Staying hidden she whirled her head around and spotted a white and brown swirled she-cat. Good, she hasn't spotted me yet. She was about to leave whenever she remembered what Grim said. I have to recruit cats. Let me watch her and then I'll decide. Tucking her paws neatly underneath her she settled to watch the she-cat in action. Silent as a fox, the white and brown cat climbed up the trunk of the tree, maneuvering herself to stay out of the sight of the squirrel but still able to keep an eye on her quarry. Minnow pricked her ears in surprise, she had never thought of that. The white and brown she-cat slowly shimmed her body to the perfect spot and leaped onto the squirrel. Climbing down in victory, the she-cat sat down by the base of the tree to eat. Standing up slowly Minnow called out, "great catch!" The she-cat flinched as if she had been struck, and began to bush up her fur in fear. Her green eyes darted around, clearly trying to see if any other cats were hidden in the undergrowth. "It's just me!" Minnow said in a reassuring tone, not wanting to scare off the she-cat before she had a chance to recruit her. "I'm trying to recruit cats to join a group that will take care of each other, and live in peace. Will you consider joining?"

Fear strengthened its grip on her heart as the grey stripped she-cat in front of her spoke. No cat said they wanted peace and meant it. Yet, she was having a hard time believing this cat was lying. She was young, and her dark blue eyes sparkled with hope. There wasn't much muscle beneath her grey fur, she didn't look as though she had ever been in a fight. I don't like to fight, but if it turns out she's lying then I will. Lifting her chin she meant to sound defiant but simply squeaked out, "What do you know about leading a group?" The grey she-cat simply shrugged, "Nothing yet. But, I promised a friend I would try. Will you please join me? Oh! And my name is Minnow, by the way." Something inside of Creme made her put her guard down for once in her life. She wanted to know peace, and this might be her only chance of finding it. "Okay. I'll join your group, but if I don't like it I'm leaving. My name is Creme. How many cats are in your group?" Minnow broke out into a nervous giggle, "Just you and me... for now!" Creme gawked at her. Pulling herself together she responded, "then we better recruit more cats."

A few sunrises had passed since Creme and Minnow set out to find others to join their group. At first, it seemed they would have no luck. Many cats wandered the forest, but the forest was so vast it was near impossible to know where they all resided. And she still had to find out where the falls ending in a pool surrounded by rocks was located. She had asked Creme, but the white and brown she-cat had never heard or seen such a thing before. They had however, found two trees intertwined forming a den-like structure. It led to a clearing surrounded by trees and lush undergrowth. On the far side of the clearing was a cliff rock-face with three perfectly hollowed out holes where cats could rest. One of the holes was so large it felt uncomfortable to sleep with just the two of them there, so they opted for a hollowed out log with a tree growing atop it. A small creek ran through the clearing, and they both figured if they followed it, it might lead to the falls. It never seemed to end, and they followed it for two sunrises before determining this wasn't it. They turned back around and started to head home when they found a young brown Tom standing in the creek. He introduced himself as Eagle, and joined the group instantly almost without question. Another cat appeared to them beside the creek, an older white tom with brown spots and hazel eyes. After asking many calculated questions the tom, Perch, decided he'd join as well. Once they reached the clearing and showed the two toms around, Eagle explained that a two-leg nest wasn't far from them, and that they could find kitty pets there to possibly recruit. Nodding in agreement, the four of them set off the next day and found two more members, siblings named Brook and Smokey. As they were leaving the two-leg nest and crossing a thunder path, Minnow heard a pitiful cry coming from a ditch. A young bengal tom had been dumped by his two-legs, and it had taken a lot of coaxing and reassurance for Minnow to persuade him to join them. The group of six welcomed their seventh member, Salmon. A moon remains for Minnow to grow her group and find the falls.

The yellowy eyed and fluffy she cat glanced around for a moment. She was feeling nervous and worried, and thus was being watchful. The somewhat smaller, Persian mix looking she cat sighed. She shook her head a couple times, scolding herself. She’d thought she’d heard a noise. However, when she’d looked around, she’d seen nothing where she’d looked. Thus, she sighed and shook her head, scolding herself. However, then she heard a noise again, and quickly turned around. Pushing the young ones behind her, she stared at the cat. However, she saw how young the cat was, and soon she’d agreed to join the newly forming clan, with Flurry and Jezzie.

The black patched white kit sniffed the air a bit. His whiskers quivered a little, then he pawed at his muzzle a bit. Yellowy-golden and ambery eyes glanced to his mother. She seemed quite nervous and worried, and it caused him nervousness too. His black ears twitched and perked. His tail flicked back and forth rapidly in a showing of how he was feeling. Not from anger but nerves and worrying like his mother. He was pushed behind her, and he peered out at the young cat there.

The young one kept her yellowy-golden and green hues trained on her auntie. She could see how nervous the fluffy white she cat was. It made her feel a bit nervous herself. However, not to quite the same extent it seemed to be affecting Flurry. The white kitty with reddish brown patches stared at her cousin. She then shook her head, and looked around the area. When the other cat had appeared, her ears went back. However, her aunt decided they’d join Minnow’s clan, so here they were.

The dark reddish-brown or brownish she cat was found a bit after the queen and her two charges. Dana was just minding her own business. The Maine Coon looking mix had been in the yard. However, the reddish-brown or brownish and darker she cat then ran. She ran away from the house, and into the woods. Her brother might even run off as well, but she’d never know. Green eyes widened as she nearly ran into another cat. She stumbled back, staring at the much younger she cat a moment. She said hello, then was startled the other asked her to join her. She agreed, and now here she was with many others. She couldn’t keep her eyes off Icywind or the kits. She missed her own kits…but she knew they were fine and safe.

Much time later was when the Angora or something else mix and his friend were happened upon. He was quite protective of the she cat. She was pregnant, and thus he thought he needed to protect her. He was a male, first and foremost, and secondly he had herbal knowledge. He wanted to do something helpful. At the moment, it had been watching out for his friend. Blue and yellow eyes had narrowed when the she cat found them…However, he saw how young she was, so he nodded to her. He and Fira agreed to join. The kits would be born into a clan.

The Tortie had been out with her friend. She and Snow lived in houses that neighbored one another, and that’s how they’d met. They’d met years ago, when they themselves had been kits. They’d been born into these homes, and each only had one sibling. Thus, the humans had kept them both. Snow and his sister had both been kept by their humans. Fira and her brother had both been kept by their humans. Now, she was pregnant, and she and Snow had gone out to wander. They were found by Minnow. They decided to join her.

The kitty with the black on his back sighed a bit. He was out and about as others had been, when Minnow happened upon him. His black tail had been flicking back and forth gently. He’d been trying to fish, but didn’t really know anything about it…He accidentally put his tail over the edge. A fish jumped up and clamped on, and he yowled in surprise and maybe pain. He smacked his tail against the ground, and pulled the fish off, black ears flattened. That’s when he’d noticed Minnow, and she asked him to join her and he’d said yes.

They didn't remember much about their mother or other siblings; they were rather young when they went to the shelter. They never really felt like they belonged there and always when there was opportunity they escaped to the place, but any times they where captured and bringed back to the shelter. Then, their luck was on their side when one of the new human volunteers left one of the windows open by accident, and they were able to sneak out of it and run into the forest. It was fun at first, new smells, sounds and everything seemed interesting, but the hunger got to them they become hopless and didn't know what to d they where never hunter a living prey, most hunts where liveless toys and the humans always bringed them the food. They wanted to head back to the shelter, but they were lost. They tried to hunt but got nothing, The things started to get dark on them when they met a group of cats who, instead of chasing them off, shared their prey with them.

She was always being close with her littermate Dragon, and she could not remember her mother or other siblings as they were rather young when they got to the shelter. She always had her wild spirit, just like her littermate had, and always when they had the chance they got out of the shelter, but always where bring back, before one time they got to their little adventure together, which almost ended to be their last. As they never learned to hunt living prey in the shelter, getting something to eat was hard before they met up with some cats calling themself a group of Minnow and shared their precious prey with strangers like they were. She stays loyal to Minnow as she feels like she and her group saved her and her littermates' lives back then.

She was born as a house cat, never needing to hunt or stuff like that, and she didn't even need life like that before the soft living as a house cat was taken away from her, when the human's house burned by a fire. She needed to live as a wild cat, but luckily, she was never alone. She had her family with her; her parents were also house cats, but they learned the hunting skill basics very fast and reached her them as well. Eventually, house cats living in the wild by themselves was pretty hard and time to time they needed help that's when they got to meet some kind cats, who let them a chanse to join them, if they did their duties to keep the group safe and feeded.

He was born and lived almost his whole life as a house cat, having this soft life where the food bowls were always full and they didn't need to hunt their own prey. They looked outside of the windows, many times, but didn't feel like going out or too far anyway, before he kind of had to. When the human house caught the flames, they ran away in panic, not looking back before they were far enough to be safe and lost. He got lost from his parents for a day or more, but they found each other and started their hard lives in the wild.

She was born as a house cat and lived as one for many moons, She didn't really care much about the wildlife, even if she escaped from her human house once or twice as a much younger cat. Her owner was kind to her and her family, so she really didn't have a reason to leave the house before the tragedy happened, and they kind of had to leave it. In the wild, she taught herself to hunt to keep her family alive. She was never alone, as the father of her kits was there for them even if he was not really her mate, but for her, he was a very special cat. She met the little group of cats who wanted them to join the group. Of course, she was a little unsure at first, but eventually thought grouping up with other cats could be much better than staying alone.

He was a House and barn cat when he was younger, before he became a show cat and was chosen to be mates with Mighty by humans. He always was more of an outside cat than an inside cat; he enjoyed sleeping in the house, but he also enjoyed walking around the yards. He learned to hunt mice as a young when he was kind of like a barn cat. Even if Mightly is not his mate, she is still a very important cat in his life, and he does love his kits a lot. When their human's house burned and they got into the wild, he taught his family to hunt. He was rather excited to meet the little group of other cats as grouping up with others could make their lives a little bit easier.

She has no memories of her life before making up with a group of cats she had never met before. She didn't know what had happened to her, before they told her that she was being found in river and they only barely safed her life for drowing. She joined the little group of cats who later joined the Minnow's group as she didn't really have any other choice.

He always felt like he was cursed; life always tested him in the worst ways. He left his rogue group where he had been living for many moons, but things that happened there made him be scared of himself, and the others didn't want him near them. When Minnow's group approved him first, he refused to join them, but after the accident he lost his other eye and tail, he knowed that he could not stay alone anylonger so he decided to agree to join the group.
